Image Quality Processing Multiple Images

When I first installed PSE, I could process multiple images and have the new image auto saved
at the same image quality of the original. Now it changes to a value of
"3" ...and I can't figure out how to predefine it to a higher quality

I get in "Full" edit mode, then click File / Process Multple FIles.
Then I select my source folder and my destination folder ...next I select one or several of the "Quick Fix" options ...usually just Auto Contrast.
Finally I click "OK"
The last few times, the new "processed" file is saved at ~400-500 KB ...instead of the original 3-4 MB.
Any help would be appreciated.

  • How can you find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas

This is probably a really really simple question but I can't for the life of me find how I can find out an individual image size from multiple images on a canvas. eg I have 3 photos i want to arrange 1 large and the other two next to it half the size. How can I edit individual image size on the canvas as when I select the image on a sperate layer I want to resize it just resizes the entire canvas and not the individual image
    Thanks

I want to know they exact dimensions though. You can get them by dragging to the 0,0 corner and then reading off of the ruler scale on the sides but its fiddily as you have to zoom right in and work it out. I know in photoshop there is a ruler but is there any other way in Elements?

  • Process Multiple Images gives Error.

When trying to process multiple pictures in the editor (saving them to a new folder for including them in my blog) it processes one picture and then gives me an error message box with “Could not complete your request because of a program error”. I then click on OK in the error box and try it again, same message after processing one more picture. This continues until the last picture is processed. This is not the way it is sappose to work.
I also get this message when trying to process multiple pictures in the raw editor when I go to open them by clicking on Select All and then clicking on OPEN IMAGES. After clicking on OK in the error message box the editor opens but none of the pictures I want to edit are loaded. Yet if I go back to Organizer the pictures I selected for edit are marked as locked edit in progress. I have to end the editor to unlock the pictures.
oh and my version of PSE12 is:
    Version 12.0 (20130903.r.43239)
Running on HP Pavilion g7 with Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium with all current updates applied.
I have also turned off all Media Analysis.

    Frank,
If you are trying to change the aspect ratio to the desired output format,
you still have to discard some portion(s) of your image. Many digital
cameras shoot in a 4:3 aspect ratio. If you want 6 x 4 prints, you will
have to crop to that ratio. In a simple case, the entire width can be used,
but the height will be excessive by about 11%. Now, the entire 11% can be
cropped out of the top or the bottom. Or it can be taken from both top and
bottom in any kind of proportion. Again, each image should be individually
evaluated and the crop area should be manually defined, based on the content
    of the photo.

  • ACR & IPHOTO--processing multiple images

I am wondering how I can open multiple pictures in ACR from IPHOTO to process?
Thanks a bunch..I have been trying to figure this out forever!!
    Jenny

I'm not sure it's possible to do it directly from iPhoto. It's frustrating me as well!
In the Finder, if you have multiple raw images selected and right-click and select Open With Adobe Photoshop Elements, it will open in ACR with all the image preview to the left. You can then select one, some, or all of them and apply the same settings.
In iPhoto though if you select multiple raw images and right-click and select Edit in external editor, the images will open one at a time.
ACR does let you change how it processes each new file. If you select Previous Conversion, once you process the first one, you can use the same processing on the next images.
Another way around this is in iPhoto, right-click and select Show File. This will open the Finder and you can then select multiple images and precess them all at once. This really isn't a very good solution though because it adds another step and you have to find the images agan.
Hope this helps and if anybody else knows how to do it from iPhoto, that would be wonderful!

  • Why do file sizes change when I use "Process Multiple Images" to add watermarks?

    Hi,
I'm using Elements 11. In order to add watermarks to many JPG pics at once, I use the function "Process Multiple Files".
I select a source folder and a destination folder, and adds a three digit serial number to each file. I do NOT tick the checkbox marked "Change picture size". After that I define the watermark I want printed on my pics and hits OK. All the files in the source folder are processed and saved, with a new name in the destination folder. Fair and square.
But. The file size of the new file is heavily reduced, compared to the original. It goes from 10 MB down to 500 KB (in general). Why is that? Is there any way I can prevent it?
    Regards,
    /Mikael Lindgren

Or you can uncheck the convert files box to save them in their original format, or select one of the lossless formats PSD, BMP, TIF. What is most appropriate depends on what you intend to do with the watermarked versions.

  • Process multiple images... How do you CROP them?

I'm trying to process a bunch of photos. The first thing I need to do is crop them to a certain size. But in the Process Mulitiple Files dialog box, the only option I see is to resize - not crop - them. So I'm ending up with squished photos instead of cropped ones.
Does anyone know how to crop them using the multiple process?
    Thanks.

  • How to process multiple images and each image has multipl links dynamically

    I saw this web site
    http://escience.invitrogen.com/ipath/iPath.jsp?cn=united+states&mapid=479&highlightGene=ADAM10
when the small icons in the left map is clicked, the corresponding information of the icon display on the right. For one map, I know I could set up static URL for each gene name. But there are hundards of images, is there a way to dynamically process all the images instead hard code hundards of pages?
    Many thanks!

The map is generated using Macromedia Flash. (I could tell because when I right-clicked on it I got a context menu including "About Macromedia Flash Player 8".) That's a programming language you could learn if you liked, but it has nothing to do with JSP.

  • How to maintain high image quality of still images

    Hello,
I have been creating flipbooks out of still images shot on a canon MK II. They are 8 mp files and look great blown up large in photoshop, however, once imported into iMovie through iPhoto and played as a sequence in rapid succession they seem to lose quality. They appear slightly compressed or otherwise a little pixelated. A get info on an individual frame says it is is less than 200 KB when the original file is 3 mb. Is there a setting I am missing or other technique for maintaining the images' high quality after being brought into this rapid slideshow? Should I be using final cut to achieve this type of high quality?
    thanks!

The following works well. Save your images in photoshop as TIFF files, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, 72 pixels per. Save to the desktop. Drag into imovie. Make sure your imovie is hd 1080i. Use the Ken Burns to expand the picture to fill the black spaces, if you so desire.
At that point, you'll have a super high def show.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to prevent degradation of image quality when pasting for collage?

I am trying to do a collage (of family heirloom old pharmacy jars and bottles) from – eventually – about a dozen separate images in Photoshop CS6.  (A variety of sizes, resolutions, qualities and file types will go into the collage, but I wish to retain the image quality of each component at its original level or very close to the original level, even those in some cases the original quality is marginal.)
I have set up in Photoshop a “background document” at 300 dpi of the right dimensions to paste into my InDesign document (5.1 X 3.6 cm)
I have tried >six approaches, all of which have resulted in a degradation of the subsequently pasted-in image (not just slight, but very obvious).
Clearly I’m missing something fundamental about image quality and handling images so that degradation is minimised or eliminated.
    (1) (1)   Using an internet video as a guide – using Mini Bridge to open all the images in PS6 as tabs along the top of the workpage.  Then dragging the first one into the base document.  It comes across huge – ie I only see a small fraction of the image.  Any attempt to Edit/Transform/Scale (to 14% of the pasted image, which in this case is a jpg of 3170 x 1541 at 1789 dpi, 4.5 x 2.2 cm) results in an image that looks horribly degraded compared with what I pasted (open in another window).
    (2)   (2) Same thing happens if I have each image as a new layer on top of the base document.
    (3)  (3)  I tried changing the image that I had put into Layer 2 into a Smart Object and then resized it.  No further ahead – it still looks horrible.
    (4) using a different image [an 800 dpi JPG 3580 x 1715  Pixels, print size (from dpi) 11.4 x 5.4 cm which despite those parameters is of barely acceptable quality] I have tried (a) changing the resolution to 300 dpi, (b) keeping the number of pixels the same (which results in a dpi of over 3000 but doesn't fix the problem; (c) changing the dimensions to a length of 3 cm [about right for the collage] .... but no matter what I do, by the time the image is positioned correctly on the layer, the image quality has gone from barely acceptable to absolutely horrible. That usually happens during the final resizing (whether by numbers or shift-dragging the corners of the image).
Grateful for any step-by-step strategy as to how best to accomplish the end – by whatever means.  (Or even in a different program!).  Basically, even though I've used images for many years in many contexts, I have never fundamentally understood image size or resolution to avoid getting into such messes.  Also, I'm on a very steep learning curve with Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator all at the same time - these all seem to handle images differently, which doesn't help.  [Not to mention MS Publisher, which I'm locked into for certain other things...]

For the individual images, don't worry about the ppi or as you call it dpi (ppi is the correct term BTW) only worry about the pixel dimensions. If the pixel dimensions gets too low, it will look horrible as there is not enough data to work with.
Therefore the final document that will house all the other images must be large enough in pixel dimensions to handle the smaller images at a high enough dimension that they will look good.
That being said, if you can load your images in as smart objects as any scaling that takes place samples the original sized document. Making it possible to scale it down to a size that is barely visible and then reset the size back to where it was and have no loss of data.
Where the ppi will come into play is when you are ready to print the final document, that is when the ppi will tell the printer at what size to print the document on the page.
If your collage will span more than one page, you may want to do this in InDesign. All images are linked to their respective container (similar process as smart object in theory) Though I beleive smart objects are embedded which is debatable.
In both InDesign and Illustrator, scaling the image in the document affects the ppi of the image, scaling down would increase the ppi whereas scaling upward would decrease the ppi as the number of pixels (the pixel dimension) has not changed.
With photoshop, you have a choice, when scaling the entire document, you have the option to resample the image, doing so affects the pixel dimension and in that instance would degrade the image when scaling downward and bluring the image when scaling up. As photoshop is removing pixels when scaling down and guessing the neighbor pixels should be when scaling upward.
But, when resampling is off, the pixel dimensions do not change and therefore there is no degration or bluring.
Why this happens has to do with simple math.
    inches x ppi = pixels
Knowing any two of the above forumula will give you the third.
When resampling is enabled, the pixels can change and when it is disabled, it is fixed so only the other two values can change.

  • How can I re-size multiple images in PSE11 ?

I have used PSE10 to re-size multiple images by selecting the 'Process Multiple Images' option from the drop-down menu undeneath 'File'.
I have just migrated to PSE11 and this option is not available - it is greyed out and cannot be selected.
Anyone got any suggestions ? Thanks.

In PSE 11 you must be in Expert mode (the equivalent of Full Edit in previous versions). Click the word Expert at the top of your screen and it should be available.

  • Why has the image quality of my PNG sequences suddenly worsened?

I've been regularly exporting PNG sequences from Premiere Pro CS6, but suddenly the image quality of the images looks terrible.
All my export settings look correct. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
    Thanks...

...and now the results are very poor...
And in which way exactly? How do you judge on quality?
My ... settings are ... 792x582 (same size as source)... My Preview File Format is the default I-frame only MPEG.
Your frame size is not good for previewing in PrPro. MPEG 2 uses macroblocks of 8x8 pixels for compressing data. And now what you get with your frame size: 792 pix / 8 = 99; 582 pix / 8 = 72.75
    My export settings are...

  • Stamping presets to multiple images doesn't work in 3.3?

I used to be able to lift adjustments from one image select multiple images and stamp multiple images at once. This doesn't seem to work in 3.3. Can someone verify please?

The hot key is ⇧⌘V  (in the main menu bar : Metadata > Stamp Metadata and Adjustments) and this hot key also works for me on multiple selected images, provided "Primary only" is not enabled, as William pointed out. But I usually keep the Lift & Stamp HUD open, to be able to deselect some adjustment.

  • Iphoto 2 reduces image quality on iPad Air

I seems there is a significant reduction in image quality when editing images in iPhoto 2 (iOS7) on an iPad Air.
Not sure which component is the real problem ... and no, I'm not talking about file size (I know they are reduced) - I talk about dpi
    So here's my old setup:
Nikon 5000 (image quality fine), iPad 3, Connection Kit for SD card, iPhoto on iOS 6
... with that setup I was able to save my edited pictures back to camera roll and the still had 300 dpi
    My current setup:
Nikon 5000 (image quality fine), iPad Air, New Connection Kit for SD card (lightning), iPhoto 2.0 on iOS 7
... now my adited images only save back to the camera roll with 72 dpi!
As my DSLR and the SD cards are the same than before it seems that either
    - Connection Kit
    - iPhoto 2
    - iOS7
    - iPad Air
    is the trouble maker!
While iPhoto seems the obvious source for the problem I had an experience that makes me think it could also be the iPad Air:
After creating a video with iVideo (with material from the iPhone 5) I saved this bakc to the camera roll and it was resized (resulting in cuts on the left and right edges) on the iPad.
Copying the same Video to iVideo via AirDrop on my iPhone 5 and savicg it to camera roll there resulted in a correct non-resized version.
So while I can easily live with that workaround for Video the reduction in images from 300 dpi to 72 dpi is signifikant and a real problem.
Anybody experiencing the same, any hints what I can do different to avoid thar reduction?

Just found an interesting article that may be the solution of my problem:
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/icloud-photo-stream-and-image -quality/
As I brought together pictures from my DSLR and the iPhone I think I used the Shared PhotoStream folder for editing them in iPhoto 2. In the past I usually worked on the pictures separately (and directly form the Camera Roll) as I didn't mix so much DSLR and iPhone use.
That should explain it and I have to remember to edit directly in the camera roll and the next time.
So it's not a big deal ... I still have all the originals and will save them somewere in my Dropbox if I need them in higher resolution. At least I know I have to change my re-work behavior in the future.

  • How to "Auto Levels" to multiple images?

Aperture doesn't allow one to perform the "Auto Levels" function on multiple images regardless of the state of the "Toggle Primary Only" control. Has anyone discovered a workaround in 1.1?
(This topic was previously discussed for 1.0 in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1486906&#1486906)
    Thanks.

You can lift and stamp the changes made by using an auto-adjustment, but it will no longer be automatic, just a copy of the changes made to the last image.
Aperture doesn't let you make any image adjustment to multiple images at once, so it's nothing specific to auto-adjust.
