Image Recovery

I tried Image recovery it is broken, if you want to see the worst case of image recovery, give it a try. Warning if you do try to restore for testing, make sure you enable administrator account before you start the recovery

works fine here - use it a lot actually. Ran the command to enable daily images. Works well and quite fast on SSD.
WBADMIN ENABLE BACKUP -addtarget:f: -schedule:00:15 -allCritical
Thank you for letting me know it works. I did discover what the issue was. I created a image only using the one drive. My system uses 2 storages spaces, one for windows and origin/games, the other for programs and users folders.
I am now going to try with the C:\ and D:\ again to see if I still get the disk is too small error.

    When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
    The above requested information can be found on the bottom of the computer, inside the battery compartment, or on the BIOS startup/setup screen. Please do not include the serial number. Please use Windows "System Image Backup" utility to create an exact image of the Windows 8.1 partition as it currently is, on an external hard drive. You may also need to create a Windows "repair" disc. If your computer developes issues or you need to replace the hard drive, all you have to do is "restore" the image to the computer. Please see Windows 8.1 Tip: Use System Image Backup for instructions on creating and restoring a "Windows - System Image Backup."
    This process is not a system recovery and is different than using Window Restore or Refresh, or HP System Recovery.

  • System Image Recovery from Network Drive - not found

    Hello all!
    I have been routinely backuping my OS and important files using Windows 7 backup on a NAS. It just so happened that I needed to re-image my OS drive and I got into the Windows 8 recovery boot sequence.
    I booted from a windows 8 USB stick and Under the Advanced tools I selected the System Image Recovery and tried to look for the system image on the network path. Although the prompt said it was connecting to the network , the network share was
    not found. the command prompt couldn't ping google.com and netsh wlan <SSID> command did not work in hopes of connecting to my local wifi.
    Is there a way to connect to the wifi network where my NAS is connected to in order to re-image from the system image found on the NAS? Luckily , there was an older image on a separate local HDD that I could re-image from but I would prefer if
    I could connect to the NAS during the recovery process.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    First, I have to say that in WinRE, http and wifi is not supported, that's why you cannot ping google and connect to wifi.
    To access NAS, we have to make sure that your network connection is wired, and try to manually location the NAS via
    \\IP address\...
    I will check if the Windows 7 image backup can be restored in WinRE of Windows 8, and update your soon.
    Edit:
    I have tried this, and it appeared that to restore Windows 7 image backup on this computer from Windows 8 winRE is not supported.

  • Image recovery software

    I am trying to find some image recovery software, I have looked at disk doctor, but it looks a bit shdey.
    so basically i could do with a ligit version of something that works.
    many thanks

    This is what you should see:
    Cisco 5500 Series Wireless LAN Controllers
    •Field Recovery Image is upgraded from 7.0.112.21 to 7.6.101.1
    •Bootloader is upgraded to 1.0.20
    •Offline Field Diagnostics is upgraded from 0.9.28 to 0.9.35
    •FPGA Revision version is upgraded to 1.7
    •Environment Controller (MCU) Image version is upgraded to 1.8
    •USB Console Revision version is upgraded to 2.2
    The issue is if you were upgrading the FUS to 1.9.0.0, you should of had console access to see what was going on.  Typically the primary will download the image and write to flash and then the secondary would upload the image from the primary and write to flash.  The secondary would need to be rebooted first then the primary. If the sysinfo didn't match between the two, then you need to upload the FUS 1.9.0.0 and do it again. This is if your have AP SSO enabled. If it's an N+1 configuration, then you need to upload the FUS 1.9.0.0 to the WLC that hasn't had everything upgraded and perform the upgrade again. From the console you can choose what you want upgraded by skipping the upgraded that is up to date.

  • Factory reset and a minimized image recovery

    Has anybody tried this?
    I am considering doing a factory reset to restore my computer to the original, and...... then..... doing a minimized image recovery to remove all the trial applications and games software on C drive.
    What else will I loose doing the minimized image recovery besides the trial applications software?
    How about the programs (Cyber...etc.) that were included for the Blue ray drive..play and record that aren't trials.
    Just what exactly  are the trial applications ?
    Any discussion or remarks on this ?
    This laptop has 2 hard drives, C and D. HP's Dv7 Pavilion. Windows Home premium 64 bit O.S.
    Thanks
    Spring fever,mud season and computer cleaning go together.

    Thanks saturnwings,
    My reasoning for the factory reset following with a MIR is because I have 2 physically separate hard drives installed in the laptop. Looking back, I probably should have done this when I first got it.
    I did finally get a response from HP stating the only thing removed by doing a MIR was the games.They had no clue what was originally on the computer even with the ser.# ( software dejour?). I might want to take this with a bit of caution (my thought).
    If I was only to do the MIR only affecting my C drive with the OS, to completely? remove the games,  it would leave my D drive intact (I have 2 separate hard drives).
    I loaded (installed) as many programs on to the second hard drive as I could because the C drive isn't that big. Because of this, I was worried about lingering problems, thinking  I might need to reinstall programs to regain the links to the start menu.
    I'm still trying to learn how to get these programs to the start menu if I was to leave the D drive intact (MIR). I am assuming there is a way?.
    What I want is a setup where my computer is free of the games, and trial software, but with the programs I have installed and the data and documents I have from these programs.
    Probably the easiest way is a new install of windows and wipe the slate clean,costing me $100 +/-, but I'd loose HP drivers, etc. which I've found aren't that easy to replace.
    I am leaning toward a complete factory reset, MIR to remove what bloatware I can, followed by "uninstall software" from controll panel to get rid of what I haven't used in a year with a reinstall of my prefered programs and documents but I'm still looking for other suggestions or experiences.

  • Minimum Image Recovery failed

    I am trying to restore my laptop running windows 8 by using minimum image recovery however I have attempted this and it told me - "Restoration Incomplete". It only gives me the options "Save Log", "Details", and "Retry".
    I have attached the log - if anyone can make sense of it!
    Now all I have when I start my laptop is an Administrator account which is very basic and wont let me access many programs.
    Also - when I start up my laptop it now reminds me that the image recovery was incomplete - when i click retry it takes me to a screen where i can start up one of two operating systems - "Windows 8" and "HP RM (ESP)", or i can use a device or troubleshoot.
    All I want to do is restore my laptop to factory settings - but it didnt come with any sofware CD's. I am not sure how to proceed!

  • Minimized Image Recovery

    I was planning on doing a System Recovery when i saw this new option called "Minimized Image Recovery". My question is what programs/software will i start with when i do it? Will i start with Internet explorer,Norton,etc..? Will this delete my recovery partition?

    See this page.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02638587&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en#N121
    Minimized Image Recovery does the following:
    Re-installs the original operating system.
    Re-installs all original hardware drivers.
    Re-installs HP essential software (i.e., HP Support Assistant, HP Recovery Manager, etc.).
    Does not install trial applications or trial games.
    If there are user-created partitions on the hard drive, the HP Recovery Manager prompts you for permission to remove them or leave them intact.

  • Minimized Image Recovery option still available?

    I used to have an HP Mini netbook.  If I needed to format the hard drive, I would use the HP Recovery Manager program.  What made this program really nice is that there was an option called Minimized Image Recovery.  This would format the hard hard, reinstall the operating system, a few HP maintenance programs, and the necessary drivers.  Most importantly, NO "bloatware" was reinstalled.  It was a truly clean format of the hard drive.
    Do today's HP notebooks still offer the Minimized Image Recovery option, or has that been removed?
    This question was solved.

    I don't have one of the latest with Windows 8 but the 9 month old DV6t 7000 loaner with Windows 7 I am using has Minimized Image Recovery. I think it is a lasting feature that HP realizes a lot of owners like.

  • System Image Recovery on Win 7 - Spectre XT 13

    There is no issue of creating a system image onto my seagate external Freeagent goflex hard disk. However, an issue is encountered during the restoring process in which the USB3.0 port turned out to be unavailable during pre-boot.
    The solution I discovered is to plug the hard disk onto the USB2.0 port. I hope this will save someone several hours of trying to figure out where goes wrong.

    Yes, that is a known issue that affects several recovery softwares including HP's

  • Image Recovery for Cisco Aironet 1300 Outdoor Access Point

    We purchased two 1300 APs for outside. There is a new release for the image that we wanted to use so, we have the latest security updates. We downloaded, logged onto the access point just fine, but the image never took. After four hours with a direct connection, it was still going and this morning we came in and it just keep rebooting. Our network guy states it looks like a corrupt image. We can barely do anything and since there is no "mode" button like the earlier models, I have not found anything on web sites or forums to help us reload a good image to the access point. I would appreciate any insight someone has and/or where to look for this. I logged on and downloaded about every manual on the 1300 I could find, but have not found a good way to fix this. Not even the upgrade tool will connect since it just keeps rebooting.

    Hi Bruce,
    Because (as you correctly noted) the 1300 does not have a mode button you could try this method;
    Complete the steps in this section in order to reset Cisco IOS Software-based bridges:
    If the privileged command prompt ap# is available in the CLI, the write erase command and the reload command erase the startup configuration and reset the unit.
    If the GUI is available, choose System Software > System Configuration. Press the Reset to Defaults button.
    Aironet 1300 Series Bridges do not have a MODE button to reset the AP to factory defaults. So, if neither the GUI or CLI is available with sufficient privileges, complete these steps to delete the current configuration and return the entire bridge settings to the factory defaults using the CLI.
    Open the CLI with a Telnet session or a connection to the bridge console port.
    Reboot the bridge by removing and reapplying power.
    Allow the bridge to boot until the command prompt appears and the bridge begins to inflate the image.
    Press ESC when you see lines that are similar to these on the CLI:
    Loading "flash:/c1310-k9kw-7mx.v122_15_ja.200040314-k9w7-mx.v122_15_ja.20040314"
    ...#############################################################################Note: In order to access the boot loader, you must press ESC twice. But this action depends on the terminal-emulation software that you use.
    Messages that are similar to these appear:
    Error loading "flash:/c1310-k9kw-7mx.v122_15_ja.200040314-k9w7-mx.v122_15_
    ja.20040314"
    Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
    Boot process terminated.
    The system is unable to boot automatically. The BOOT environment variable needs to
    be set to a bootable image.

    Are you sure you want to delete "flash:/env_vars" (y/n)?y
    File "flash:/env_vars" deletedIssue the boot command in order to reboot the bridge at the bridge: prompt, or simply power cycle the bridge.
    After the bridge reboots, reconfigure the bridge with the web browser interface, the Telnet interface, or Cisco IOS Software commands.
    Note: The bridge is configured with the factory default values that include:
    The IP address, which is set to receive an IP address with DHCP. If you do not have a DHCP server, you can access the bridge using the default IP address of 10.0.0.1 using HTTP/HTTPS or Telnet. Once you gain access to the bridge via Telnet or GUI, you can modify the IP address of the bridge.
    Note: This default IP address of 10.0.0.1 becomes available only for a short period. So, make sure that you assign your own IP address to the bridge within that period of time.
    The default username and password, "Cisco".
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_password_recovery09186a00800949d0.shtml#ca_1310_ser
    One other thing, be careful with the new IOS that you aren't loading a LWAPP Recovery Image. (it almost sounds like what may have happened)
    Hope this helps!

  • Pdf image recovery from corrupt pdf files

         the pdf file in which i kept my pictures gt corrupt. i used image extractor tools but for nothing. please help me. i am clueless what to do?

    How silly was I as I had been using PDF files since the day I learned to operate the computer system and didn’t know anything about them. Then one day I realized that why don’t I learn something about PDF to become a mater in it.
    As we know in these days, PDF files are most commonly used by worldwide. Belong to any part of the society, we as an individual or an organization use PDF files. Therefore it has become very essential element in computer service.
                                      “Generally a PDF or Portable Document Format file is a self-contained cross-platform document which appears same as in the form of soft copy or hard copy. PDF files are used by all of us as they contain the complete formatting of the original document, including fonts and images, PDF files are highly compressed, allowing complex information to be downloaded efficiently.”
    PDF is very popular due to its easiest form of transferring the files over and through the internet as it maintains the original formatting and secures the documents so nicely that other files’ formats don’t.
    Any PDF file contains text or images and sometimes both i.e. text and images. It can be used for office presentation, school assignment or personal collection. But sometimes we don’t need the text part which is inside our PDF file. Occasionally, we need only the pictures from our PDF files. That time we usually do this: copy the images or pictures from the PDF files and then paste them in other new PDF file. That process of copy and paste takes a long time and makes us tired. So that time we need an application which can easily extract all the images and pictures from our PDF files in very short point of time.
    But just think about this: How can you extract images and pictures from a PDF file which is corrupted. Because there is not any software application which can extract the images and pictures from a corrupt PDF file. Did I say no?
    Actually there is a tool which can easily extract the images and pictures from not only a normal PDF file but also from a corrupt PDF file. With the help of this tool anyone can easily extract the images and pictures from a single or multiple PDF files of all versions such as 1.3/1.4/1.5/1.6/1.7, from Adobe Acrobat 3.x to Adobe Acrobat X either it is normal or corrupted as it is very simple to use.  After extracting the images and pictures, it allows you to save them in different formats such as JPEG, BMP, PNG and GIF. It is one of the fastest extracting tools which does extraction process in no more time.
    i used this tool as it was refered earlier in this thread, and i am totally satisfy from this tool : PDF Image Extractor from SysInfoTools. What a utility excellent work done by experts.

  • Can't do image recovery on 1250

    Hi,
    First of all I've read the link https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-14636 and a lot of other pages.
    What I have on the AP is:
    ap: set
    CRASH_LOG=yes
    DEFAULT_ROUTER=10.0.0.1
    ENABLE_BREAK=no
    IOS_DEFAULT_DOMAIN_NAME=company.local
    IOS_STATIC_DEFAULT_GATEWAY=10.4.254.1
    IP_ADDR=10.0.0.1
    MANUAL_BOOT=no
    NETMASK=255.255.255.224
    ROM_PERSISTENT_UTC=1298238069
    TERMLINES=0
    (I also have these lines as a wild shoot)
    SERVER=10.0.0.3
    TFTP_SERVER=10.0.0.3
    so AP is default setting
    I've also run the commmands:
    load_helper
    flash_init
    ether_init
    tftp_init
    and then:
    ap: tar -xtract tftp://10.0.0.3/c1250-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB3.tar.default flash:
    tftp://10.0.0.3/c1250-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB3.tar.default: connection timed out
    However no matter what I try it can't find the TFTP server. Which is really strange since I get an arp entry in the AP
    ap: arp
         255.255.255.255  ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff  0  40
          10.0.0.3  f0:de:f1:17:29:7a  0  230
    On the TFTP server (just a regular laptop) I've shut down the windows firewall (it's works with other devices so it's now a tftp server or FW issue).
    What gets me really confused is I don't see an arp entry for the AP in the computer. I've tried with and without gateway (with the AP being the gateway and another address). I've tried with static arp entries and no matter what I do I can't find the AP on the computer. I've also had wireshark running on the interface on the computer that runs the tftp server I haven't seen anything from the ap at all. The AP doesn't respond to arp request from the computer (I've seen this in wireshark).
    Anyone know what can cause all this and how it might be resolved. I can't be a physical conenction issue can it since I get the arp entry on the AP.
    Thankful for any help.

    Hi Peter,
    Did you try this using mode button ? If not try that method & see
    1. Rename your recovery image "c1250-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB3.tar" like "c1250-k9w7-tar.default"
    2. Configure your PC 10.0.0.2 with Mask 255.0.0.0 & GW 10.0.0.1 & put that image on a TFTP server running on that PC
    3. Directly connect AP ethernet to your PC & power on the AP while pressing the  MODE button
    4. Release the mode button after 20-30s & monitor your AP console output
    5. You should see AP loaded the recovery image from your TFTP server
    This post demonstrate this process & refer it for more detail

  • ASA 5585-X IPS SSP system image recovery?

    SSP-10 in slot 0
    IPS SSP-60 in slot 1
    This is not a supported configuration but does it actually work?
    On one chassis the system image is missing from IPS SSP-60. I attempted hw-module recovery from tftp but it just gets stuck in recovery mode. IPS SSP console says pretty much says its in boot loop because it does not have a valid image.
    The procedure I used
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ips/7.1/installation/guide/hw_system_images.html#wp1371782
    I can download the image via tftp to flash but the recovery for IPS SSP just does't load from tftp.
    When there are two modules in the chassis, the management port for IPS SSP-60 comes up (green) but I don't see management 1/0 port. Is it still referenced by management 0/0 on IPS SSP console?

    It sounds surprisingly about ASA5515 and SCM 4.3
