Image Rotation Option in EXPORT

I would like to see the EXPORT function have the ability to optionally rotate an image 90 degrees or -90 degrees if the image is the user's choice of either landscape or portrait orientation.
I frequently use Lightroom to create a gallery of pictures that is then sent over to my iPad. If landscape orientation images are mixed in with portrait, they are shown on the iPad rotated 90 degrees and only take up a fraction of the screen. Therefore my preference is to rotate all landscape images 90 degrees so that everything is the same orientation, then lock the orientation on the iPad to portrait mode. Then the images will use the entire screen.
Currently I have to manually rotate the images prior to export, do the export, and then rotate them back. It's a PITA and I would much rather check off a box in the EXPORT dialog and have it do the rotation automatically as required.

I appreciate the suggestion, but it would not work as-is because not all images are in need of the rotation. I only need to rotate landscape images. Doing it after the fact would require either that I separarate the landscape images manually or that the post-processing tool (exiftool) is capable of detecting them and conditionally acting on them only.
Currently, the way I do it is like this: first I use a SmartCollection to isolate the landscape images and then apply a "Landscape" tag to identify them.
Then I create another smart collection for the "Landscape" tag so that I can do "SELECT ALL" and rotate everything.
Then I export everything, go back to the smart collection, and undo the rotation.
The main reason this is a pain is because the group of images I want to export might be based on a smart collection in the first place, and may have some combination of PICK, Rating, COLOR, or various keywords. To create the smart collection for making the tag, I have to replicate all that first then add the condition for detecting landscape images.
If you could create smart collections that inherited from other smart collections it would be much easier, and in fact that's another feature suggestion worth making.
I was not familiar with exiftool but I just found the website and it seems that it can probably do the conditional processing... I may give it a try, but I still think the rotation would be so much easier as a built-in export option.

You need to Add Destination and pick image sequence from the selections on the right side of the dialog. Set your image properties as well. PS - you can add as many "destinations" of the same type as you like and customize the export properties.

If you develop an image in lightroom then export to your hard drive after finishing, is it the right resolution to print out?

When you are configuring your export options in the export dialogue, you have the option to specify the size in pixels. If you are going to print to a certain dimension, first of all I suggest that you crop the image to that aspect ratio. Then, export an image that will be big enough to support that print size. If the image has enough pixels the PPI setting is meaningless (actually, it's meaningless anyway as far as printing is concerned). For example, assume you want to order or print an image that is 16 and 20 inches at 240 PPI. Here are the steps I would follow.
1. Crop the image using the 4 x 5 - 8 x 10 aspect ratio setting.
2. In the export options specify in the image sizing options, choose long edge 4800 pixels (20"x240 PPI).
3. You can change the PPI setting to 240 if you want, it isn't going to matter.
4. Set any other printing options as required, then export the image.

Images Rotated 90 Degrees on prints

i am having this issue with the Apple version of Adobe Illustrator CS3. We just got a new printer (Sharp MX-3501N) and it has a Fiery 2 print server on it. When i print illustrator documents to it, the first page comes out great. Comes out landscape on 11x17 paper. But if i tell it i want any more then just one print (2 or more copies) the first page comes out fine, each additional page comes out with the image rotated 90 degrees and is printed right off the page and leaves a blank space on the bottom of the page. Adobe is updated, MacOS (10.5) is updated, i have tried printing from other programs and everything else prints fine, and i have updated the drivers.
I am an authorized sharp service center and i talked to Sharp technician support about it and they said that because Adobe handles the print job from start to finish, there is likely a setting in illustrator that is messed up. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm not sure if I understand your problem. If it uses a proper PS RIP, the rasterized version will be stored in it and it should initiate printing multiple copies, not the computer that sends over the PS/ PDF data. Are you sure you're not missing out on some silly check mark somewhere in teh printer driver? what you describe strikes me more as an "only print first page differently/ print cover sheet" option as you would use them in an office program. Is Illustrator actually set to handle the print job (which would be kinda pointless on a hardware RIP)? If so, you should get this odd behavior with other printer drivers as well (PDF document printer etc.) and then indeed it would be the program's fault...

Images rotated in Browser do not appear rotated in Viewer

I have the following problem in Aperture 2.1. I rotate images in the Browser and they appear to rotate just fine, but when loaded into the Viewer the images do not appear rotated. When exported by dragging from the Viewer to the Desktop (or other folder location) the images are not rotated, but when exported via the File>Export>Version command they are rotated.
What gives? Why do the images not appear properly rotated in the Viewer?

Newbie here: best sizing option while exporting for print?

What is an ideal/standard option for exporting and sizing a photo for print when you don't know if they will print 4x6, 5x7 or 8x10? Is there a good option that will consider anything? Bottom line: best sizing option while exporting? Thanks

If you don't know the size that someone will print at, then you don't resize at all. Leave the Resize to Fit box unchecked in the Image Sizing portion of the Export dialog box Let the person doing the printing do the resizing (if necessary)

Any image can only be as large as the Original. With a program like Photoshop you can UpRes an image and get it to a bigger size, larger files size as well, but the actual quality of the image will be degraded, depending on the UpRes system and the original quality of the image.
iPhoto is not the program to be doing that in and I don't think it even has that option.
So I suspect the image you are trying to send isn't much bigger than what you are getting. You can also try Exporting it from iPhoto to yopur desktop and see what size you end up with. If it is still that 209KB +/- file size then that is the size of the original image.

In Bridge CS6, my "Tools" tab is now missing the Image Processor option.

Two glaring changes were made in my system all by itself. One is that in Bridge CS6, under the "Tools" tab, the "Image Processor" option is gone. All that's left is Batch Rename and Cache options. Does anyone know why this happened or how to restore this. Also, whenever I double click an image, it now goes directly to Photoshop as opposed to opening in Camera Raw first like it used to. All and any help is appeciated. Thank you!!!

Image processor option missing from bridge cc

In the past I have been able to open Bridge and go to tools - photoshop- image processor and then a panel would open where I could resize my images, change their file type, and apply an action to a batch of photos. I just updated my version of Bridge CC and when I select tools, the image processor option is no longer there. Please help!

Don't use LR, but have heard it can make different copies of image, depending on process. Will not be readable outside of LR.

How to avoid "images" folder in programatic exporting of.rpt files to HTML

In C#, When crystal reports is programatically exported to HTML format, the result is a folder bundled with .htm files and a folder called "images" which holds the .png files associated with these .htm.
My requirement is to have both the .htm files and the graphic files(i.e. '.png' files) in the same folder and do not want a new folder "images" to be created.
This creation of "images" folder does not happen when we manually export cryatal reports to html format.
Kindly suggest, How can we avoid the creation of this "images" folder when programatically exported to html format ?

I have a requirement to e-mail the exported html report. When i e-mail the attachments (i.e .htm file and .png file with in the images folder) , The reciever has to save the .htm file into a folder(say X) and with in the same folder 'X' he has to create a 'images' folder and save the .png file into it. Only then .htm file will load the appropriate ".png".(I believe It is internally designed in .htm to load the .png files from 'images' folder). SO it becomes additional work for the user to save these attachments in folder structure as explained above.
There is another scenario to store the reports into database which requires .htm and .png to be in the same folder.
These are above scenarios where images folder is causing the problem.
I have exported the reports to other formats (i.e. xls, pdf, rtf, txt) and those work fine. Supporting .html format as part of the above requirement is where i am stuck.
I wanted to confirm whether creation of 'images' folder in CR .NET SDK IS BY DESIGN ?
If that is confirmed and if there is NO work around to get the .htm file and .png file into same folder, then we can re - think on our requirement.
Kindly confirm the above or Kindly suggest any work around if available .

Image rotation with fade effect

I am new to the spry framework and have just started going
through the examples to see if I could create an image rotator that
fades the images into each other when changing. I have taken
snippets from different places to do this and think I have the
answer but really wanted some feedback to sanity check and let me
know if this is the best way of doing it. If it is, then I hope

Image rotation working in template, but nowhere else

Hi,
I'm relatively new to Dreamweaver.
I have a page with some rotating images, created following a Communitymx recommendation (http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?cid=651FF).
The website template (http://www.johnaverill.com/templates/main_template.dwt) seems to rotate images perfectly; however, image rotation on index.html and the others will not work.

ah, you are correct. sorry, I didn't catch that I was i am just posting the same old apparent bad code (index.html).
I did create index_2.html and rename it to index.html per your instructions of Mar 5 (i've actually done it twice now). Pictures not rotating with the index_2 or the new index.html either.
Also noticed recreating the index continues to get me the extra:

Image Rotation Problem in LR 3.2RC

Anyone else having an issue with image rotation in Lightroom 3.2C?
Here's what happens:
I import images from my card. There are a combination of images taken horizontally and vertically. The vertical images come in sideways (horizontally). This is no big deal: maybe the cameras I was using in this case (Olympus E-PL1 and Panasonic GF1) don't properly mark the orientation.
So, in Grid view, I select one of the improperly orientated images and click the "Rotate Photo Left" arrow in the toolbar. Here's where it gets weird. Instead of rotating the image 90-degrees counter clockwise, the thumbnail rotates about 45-degrees, so now it's crooked in Grid view. However, on my second monitor, the image now looks properly orientated.
I've tried rotating using the menu (Photo menu / Rotate Left) and got the same result. If I repeatedly rotate, it ends up in all sorts of odd positions in grid mode.
What's up with this? Is it just me?

Restarted Lightroom and all looks good now. I'll be interested to see if the problem returns next time I import images.
UPDATE: I spoke too soon. Closed LR3 and opened it again. No, the cockeyed thumbnails are not saved at their odd angles. But they still don't match the image shown on my 2nd monitor (or on my main monitor either if I go to Loupe View). The Grid view image might show the vertical image lying on its side (horizontal), even though the 2nd monitor shows it in the correct orientation.
This happens with horizontal images too if I try to rotate them - something I tried just now but wouldn't normally need to do.
Trying to rotate the thumbnail again results in the cockeyed thumbnail. If I then CLICK on that thumbnail, it straightens out, but never in the correct orientation. Here's a screen grab:
Something seriously wrong here. Something that NEVER happend in Lightroom 3 until I installed version 3.2RC. So, I doubt that it's a video card problem - looks like a bug to me.
