Image sequence in Pro

I have succesfully used the image sequence to produce movies in the past..now when I try it all that gets imported is the initial frame. It seems like this all started after the last update to iTunes. Thinking that I needed to upgrade I spent another $30.00 for a new Pro key, but the same thing happens. I'm not happy when I waste money like that. Can anyone help?

This is for Mac AppleScript QuickTime users.
I have a completely different issue that you all have, however, your fix has worked for me. In short, I had generated an AppleScript (in Mac) that included a piece to grab the first image in a folder and build a QT movie.
After upgrading I received an error when running my AppleScript, it started with:Can’t make file 1 of «class cfol»Looks like the suggestions in this thread could have worked for me.
Unfortunately I was not able to easily downgrade on the Mac without essentially reinstalling Leopard. I guess I'll wait until QT 7.4.1 when Apple realizes there is more than just movie rentals to their updates.
The portion of my AppleScript affected is really quite simple (borrowed from a couple others), frankly frustrating that a QT update would cause such a hiccup.tell application "QuickTime Player"
open image sequence firstFile seconds per frame 2
save document 1 in theReason
quit
end tell
Cheers (to you all -- Apple is upsetting me tonight)!

  • Image Sequence Settings in QT Pro - what is the Frame Rate range available?

I am considering purchasing QT Pro for Windows. I wish to make a time lapse movie out of a series of pictures. I would like to know what the range of options is for the "Image Sequence Settings" in File->Open image Sequence... menu. Does is it go well beyond 1 second?
    Thanks!
    Chris

Frames rates are from 10 seconds per frame up to 60 frames per second.
I make many image sequence movies and just start with one frame per second.
I then "add scaled" to a properly timed audio only file. This way you can get nearly any frame rate you could ever need.

  • Why is my QuickTime Pro exporting image sequences in the wrong order?

I am making timelapse films and using QuickTime Pro to export the images as a movie file. I have all the images in a folder named numericaly. I go file>import image sequence click on the first image and import. The images are in the correct order in the source folder I have also checked the resource files under show movie properties and they are in the correct order there. I then export as a QuickTime movie file at 1080p H.264 the film is stepping and the frames are out of sequence in the eported movie file. Why is this? Has anyone come across this before?

Is there anything else I could try.
Not sure. I would likely test an x264 export of the image sequence from QT 7 Pro or MPEG Streamclip (or from HandBrake if your system is not configured with the x264 codec) and see if the result was any better. This is not a problem I run into very often and, even then, the files were sent to me with no real indication of how they were originally encoded.
Or do you know how I can analise the exported file?
Not really... but it would be nice to have a tool which indicated the current frame type and listed pointers to frames/stacks of frames used for rendering reference.

  • Pdf image sequence in QT Pro

I am running QT Pro 7.2.0.
I frequently make Quicktime animations of image sequences of jpeg files using QT Pro "Open As Image Sequence". Works great.
I now have a sequence of pdf files, (created by Acrobat Distiller from postscript files) and when I try to make an image sequence, all the images after the first one are either garbled or blank.
I have looked at each pdf file and they look normal.
Has anyone successfully made QT movies from pdf file sequences? What am I missing?
    Thanks.

    Thank you.
I don't have to use .pdf's. I am trying to find the most direct path from a series of postscript files to a Quicktime image sequence.
Acrobat distiller will convert a series of postscript images to .pdf's with a single "click".
I don't know of a way to do the same conversion from postscript to .jpg's. Preview requires you to convert each image individually, AFAICT.
I'd be happy to go from postscript to .jpg directly if it can be done painlessly.
These are simple .pdf files. I opened one in Acrobat and checked. I am also able to open the individual files with QT and they look as I expect them to.
If you try to open a series of postscript files with Quicktime Open Image Sequence, the .ps files are greyed out. .pdf files do show up as "openable", so it seems like this ought to work.
I have also tried it with QT version 7.1.6 with the same result.

  • Quicktime Pro 7.6.9 crashes when I try to import image sequence

    Hi,
I'm running Quicktime Pro 7.6.9 on a Windows XP machine with service pack 3.
I shot some timelapses with my Nikon D7000 as jpegs and while trying to import the image sequences into Quicktime so I can export them out as .MOVs, I noticed that Quicktime crashes when ever I try to import a sequence that has 240 or more pictures. Most of my timelapses have 240 or 360 pictures. I was able to import a sequence that had only 180 pictures. Does Quicktime Pro 7.6.9. have an image sequence limit that I don't know about? I don't have any sequences that are anything between 180 and 240, so I can't test out numbers like 190, 200, 210, etc.
    Any ideas on what's happening?

The files are 4928x3264 JPEGs. I'm trying to make 1920x1080 .MOV files. Quicktime crashes as soon as I select the first pic from the image sequence.
I tried another sequence that had 600 pics and it worked fine, so it's obviously not some sort of image limit. But I can't figure out why these three sequences that each have 240 images would cause the program to crash everytime.

  • Final Cut Pro X Image Sequence Export missing frames per second option?

I am using the trial version of Final Cut Pro X.  I can export an image sequence but it will only allow me to do so at 30 frames per second -every single frame!
So a 10 min movie takes half an hour to export 20,000+ frames that no one on earth has time to look thru.
In my old Final Cut Express I was able to choose 1 or 2 frames per second, which was just right.
    What am I missing?
Do I need to buy Quicktime Pro or Compressor to allow me to export image sequences without exporting every frame?
Why would Apple even have an image sequence export if it only allows you to export every frame, or it that only in the trial version?
    Thank you

I found a free option for you, if you don't already have Compressor 4.
In FCPX create your movie. Then SHARE as a Master File.
Get MPEG Streamclip, which is a free app available here.
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Drag your Master File into MPEG Streamclip.
In MPEG Streamclip, select FILE/EXPORT TO OTHER FORMATS.
    In FORMAT: choose IMAGE SEQUENCE
In OPTIONS, choose your frame rate.

  • Quicktime Pro won't display JPG or create image sequence

I'm having a problem with QT Pro in that some of my jpg files will open in QT as blank white. When I resize the window, the window blinks with a scrambled image. Same thing happens when I try to create an image sequence.
This doesn't happen on all my jpg files, maybe about half of them. Also, the same files that don't open properly in QT Pro on my Mac Pro open just fine in QT Pro on another computer. These files also open fine in Preview, Lightroom & Photoshop - it's just QT that's having problems.
I've deleted and reinstalled QT with no luck. Any ideas what the problem could be? Help is greatly appreciated...

    Try the following:
    System Preferences>Quicktime>Advanced
Click on the MIME Settings button.
In the next window that opens up make sure that click on the triangle next to Images - Still image files.
Make all items are enabled (checked) except for PDF Image.
    Click the OK button.
    Restart your computer.
    ==============
Take a look in your Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder - if you see any QT plugins or webplugins file there, remove them to the desktop or trash.
    Restart your computer.
    ===============
Are you trying to view JPG files from a browser or from your HD? Asking because most browsers have a +"file helper"+ preference. For Firefox, it's under the Applications Preferences. There, you can select which type of files you can map to the QT browser plug-in.

  • Bug: QT Pro fails to properly play PDF image sequence?

    Hi folks,
I have a series of numbered PDF files that represent an animation. I can open these files as an "image sequence" with QuickTime Pro, but then the resulting movie seems corrupt. Only the first frame renders properly, and the remaining frames are white, sometimes with some garbled information from the PDF. (I'm using the latest version of QT Pro.)
Is this a known limitation? Should QT be able to open a sequence of PDFs properly?
I know that as a workaround I can rasterize the PDFs first, but this isn't really what I need. The eventual goal is to get this animation into Motion, so keeping the vector graphics as vectors for as long as possible is important. Also note that directly importing the image sequence into Motion produces the same problem, so I suspect that this is a QuickTime issue.
    Any thoughts?
    Zach Pincus
    powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I believe QuickTime will only show page 1 of a single PDF, I'm not sure if that applies to multiple single-page PDF's within a single mov file though.
    http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2001/qa1247.html
So they are saying that if imported as a movie it can display multiple pages, if brought in as a graphic it can't.
Instead of importing as an image sequence, you could open each pdf in QT Player, select all, copy, paste into the final movie (or seperate movies which you could then import) and hopefully you would end up with movies of multi-page pdfs instead of single page pdf graphics. What a mess.

  • Image sequence only opens 1 image in QT pro

    Hi,
I have 1500 numbered jpeg images and every time i go to do an image sequence it only adds the first frame into the image sequence!! Help!!!

I think in some cases OS 10.6.x does not allow to select more than 1 file. In QT Pro I also cannot make image sequences anymore, however MPEG Streamclip does the job (open files, select all files in the pulldown menu).

  • Flash audio out of sync even as image sequence in Premeire Pro

I'm using Flash CS4 to animate hi-def music videos. It seems that I can't keep the audio to stay in sync for anything over 2 or 3 minutes.
    - I'm working a stage at 1280x720 and 30 fps
    - audio is streamed on a separate layer
    - mp3 publish settings are: stereo 128kbs
Inside the FLA file everything syncs perfect, but when it's published, everything drifts in the SWF and in everything else I've tried.
I've tried exporting image sequences and popping the sequences into premiere pro to match up with the original wave, and i've also put the swf file in a premiere pro project as well. Whether a SWF or an image sequence, it always lapses after 2 or 3 minutes.
I've asked the adobe portal folks and they sent me a link to a "dreamweaver" article...so my regard for their capicity is not high.
Anyone have any ideas? or am I doomed to never animate anything longer than 2 minutes in Flash?
The topper of it all is, I've used a friend's REAL OLD Flash MX and have not   had any problems.

no actually all the animation is smooth and plays fine. but in files longer than 2 or 3 minutes the action starts to happen later and later and later until i'm seeing the animation full seconds after the matching sound. this happens when source wavs are matched to published files inside premeire pro too. it doesn't matter the format...swf / mp4 / flv / mov...any encoding of the video matched to the source wav is the same result as the published swf.
it's as if there are more frames in the publish than in the FLA. i guess i could compare and contrast by doing some math and creating some traditional x-sheets and completely disregard the reference streaming audio in the FLA...but that would be a ton of work and disregard the convenience the technology is intended to provide. i guess i'll just continue editing together a bunch 1-2 minute publishes until i give adobe even more money in october...boo hiss.
thanks for your vigilance! i might just be out of luck

  • Is the tiff image sequence in premiere pro cs4 lossless?

is the tiff image sequence export in premiere pro cs4 lossless or lossy?

    Hi,
Yeah, that  IS an interesting question...When I looked into the quality exported individual frames I stuck it into photoshop and looked at the mode and image size to see what I was getting ...
I was kinda ( am still very ) impressed with the quality of the individual images Premiere exports in it's sequences.. and I suppose you could say it is lossless but in part that would be referenced to , " Lossless compared to what ? "
If I put TIFF images into the timeline to begin with and then got them out again, then it would probably be lossy depending on ppi going in. It's like 72 coming out.
But anyway, the quality is pretty darn good, I have to say...when you export TIFs...

  • Image Sequence in Quicktime Pro

Can anyone here please tell me where there is a tutorial on how to import an image sequence and then export it as a quicktime movie for the web? I am overwhemed with all of the settings in QuickTime Pro and I need some help sorting it all out, which settings to choose etc? I can't seem to find any information related to this.
    Thanks in Advance

First it has to be in a format QT. recognizes .. So what format is your source material in?
The most common is .mov .. for QT. If not, it may need to be converted to a format QT. recognizes.
If you read my recent post about MPEG-2 decoder, you will find 'Streamclip' will convert many formats too MPEG-2 for QT. So you can edit in your editing program .. Exporting, using Quicktime for web delivery, it is best, from my experience to use the H264 codec. Experiment with quality, size, frame rate etc. to achieve the best quality for your export constraints .. For YouTube it must be under 10min. & max. 100megs. A really simple method in QT. is just choose 'Export for Web' .. QT. will use H264 and do all the work for you .. it's not the optimal way to do it .. but it does work. Best.Chris

  • Trouble with creating an image sequence in QT Pro 7.4.

I'm having trouble creating an image sequence in QT Pro 7.4(Windows XP). I have a folder containing a JPEG sequence (alternative a PICT-Image sequenz). I Open image sequence, choose the image-frequency and choose the first image, but QT created only the first image in a self-contained movie. But, the same images with the same procedure with QT Pro 7.2 on another Windows XP- PC created a correctly self-contained movie. Is this a bug in QT Pro 7.4?
Please help me and apologize for my bad english!

You have to revert to an older version of QT. After Effects users are having the same issue. Here's a link to a temporary fix (reverting back to older version):
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c05dee6
    1) I downloaded QT 7.3.1 from the Apple Support Downloads website.
    2) I downloaded Pacifist from their webiste
    3) I installed Pacifist on my machine
    4) I opened the QuickTime DMG file and drug the PKG file out of it
    5) I launched Pacifist and dragged the QuickTime 7.3.1 PKG file onto the Pacifist window.
    6) I clicked on "Contents of QuickTime531_Leopard.pkg" to select it in Pacifist
    7) I choose "Install" from the Pacifist menu at the top of the window
It started installing and I chose "Replace" when ever it prompted me. You can actually click a little check box that says "Don't Keep Asking Me This" and then you don't have to click "Replace" a 1000 times.
    9) I restarted my computer (Intel Quad-Core 3 Ghz) went to System Preferences>QuickTime and checked that I was now actually running QT 7.3. YES!!!

  • Image Sequencing in Quick Time Pro

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I have been unable to get Quick Time Pro to created an Image Sequence. I'm wondering if this is an issue created by Quick Time Pro being moved to its new location in Snow Leopard.
Can anyone, who's recently upgraded, test Image Sequencing out and see it is still working in Snow Leopard?
    Here's what I've been doing:
I have a folder of photos named sequentially:
    photo1.JPG
    photo2.JPG
    photo3.JPG
    photo4.JPG
    photo5.JPG
I choose "Open Image Sequence"from the File menue
I choose the first file in the folder
A dialog comes up asking about the frame rate
    The entire screen turns black
I choose "Present Movie" from the View menu
The controls show the movie is playing, but nothing but black shows on the screen.

My experience is that the feature 'open a sequence of images' does not work in 10.6.
I ran Software Update hoping to upgrade to 7.6.4 but was not prompted to install any updates.
    Steps taken:
Clicked File, Open Image Sequence…, Select folder
The Open button is not available to click after this is done where it was in the past.
Selecting an image, within the selected folder, illuminates the Open button. It is not possible to select additional items by keyboard (shift, option, command) with they keyboard or mouse and mouse alone (click & drag).
Quicktime prompts as the OP notes but I see the image with the selected time delay where they did not.
This has been tested on a Mac Pro and a MacBook Pro, both running 10.6.1.

  • QT Pro batch import of image sequences aand export of MOVs

I have multiple folders with sequentially numbered jpegs and I am trying to find some way to batch process (with QT Pro or Automator or some combination of any program, without paying a fortune) each folder to a MOV. For example, parent folder with 3 subfolders - is there a way to point QT Pro at the parent folder and have it create MOVs with specific export settings for each respective folder? I do know how to Open Image Sequence, choose frame rate, choose settings, export to MOV but I'd like to find a way to do it without having to choose the first image of each folder. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Check the frame rate in the Interpret Footage dialog box.
