Image shifting back and forth

Is anyone experiencing strange shifts back and forth of images while they are working with them?
The image moves about 1mm diagonally, sometimes a couple of times.
Also scrolling of galleries seems to be much less smooth than before, sometimes locking up for many seconds, or the screen going completely white and then coming back.
Everything seems to have started happening after upgrading to LR1.3 (I am on 1.3.1)
I am also experiencing strange flickers on my screen even when using other programs as long as LR is loaded.
Windows XP 4GB / ATI Radeon 256MB
(So it is not an Nvidia issue)
I'm starting to think that a downgrade to LR1.2 may be a good thing.

Don,
The image is supposed to dance around on it own?
I took a closer look, and I think that I know what's causing it. It needs to be fixed, because it is reaaaaaly annoying.
If you are in any mode, and the image is enlarged (not grid), you will notice a small drop shadow going down to the right. Well, what is happening is that the drop shadow is changing to visible / not visible, and when the drop shadow is not there, the image moves down and to the right to the spot where the drop shadow was, and when the shadow reappears the image moves back up to make room for the drop shadow. So the image just dances diagonally a few times for no apparent reason. But the reason is a drop shadow YES/NO fast toggle.

  • Question on how to use a variable in report object's horizontal formula to shift back and forth at refresh interval.

    Hello All;
I have an SSRS Report that displays some slider objects. The report auto-refreshes every 5 minutes.
This report is displayed on a big screen TV and I want to shift the images back and forth every time it refreshes to prevent possible burn-in on the screen.
I see you can use a formula on the Horizontal position of objects, and I think a variable that gets added 10 and then subtracted by 10 every refresh could be used to display the objects in different positions each iteration, but I don't know how to do that
in SSRS. I have read up on variables, and I think I need a global variable, but not sure how to update it on each refresh iteration.
I read the links on using Silverlight to shift things, but that adds a whole other level of complexity.
I could even do something in the DB and then pull that into the formula field if needed.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Battery / Hard Drive Cover Loose ? Shifting Back and forth ?

    Hey Everyone...
Just wondering if I am the only one experiencing this...
the casing that covers the battery and hard drive is loose and shifting all over the place. I can hold a finger down on it and push around in a circle formation and the cover will move with it. The latch is closed and it supposedly secured shut.. but there is an obvious gap now when pushed in any one direction...
Any one else experiencing this ?

I have heard of a couple of cases. Take it in or call Apple and they will fix it.

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you can access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.

I'm having problems with videos, they shake and the images break up back and forth into striped colors, how do I fix this?

    1) This is because of software version 1.1. See this
thread for some options as to how to go back to 1.0,
    which will correct the problem...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=3754

    2) This tends to happen after videos. Give the iPod a
minute or two to readjust. It should now be more
    accurate.
    3) This?
iPod shows a folder icon with exclamation
    point
    4) Restore the iPod
    5) Try these...
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo and Will Not Start
    Up
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo
I think 3,4, and 5 are related. Try the options I
    posted for each one.
    btabz
I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

  • Library & Develop modes -- back-and-forth!

I shoot mostly events, and have to process hundreds of images at a sitting.  98% of the time it's just density, color-correction, and cropping.  Since I have to work quickly, I find the adjustment buttons in the Library module much faster to use than the sliders in the Develop module.  A long time back I asked if it would be possible to have cropping available in the Library module so I wouldn't have to change back and forth between modules, and was told by Jeff Schewe and others that it's not possible.
So, that got me thinking:  If it's not possible to incorporate Crop into the Library module, how difficult would it be to build a "switch" in the Develop module, that would change all the sliders into buttons with one click?   To change them individually would be even better, but that would probably clutter the interface. Either way would be fine though.  If I had the button option, I would actually prefer to stay in the Develop module as there are other useful controls available there that are absent from Library.
I can't be the only photographer who wants this -- in fact I've spoken  to several other event photogs who use LR, and they all wish they could just use the buttons and not have to switch modules in order to crop.
How about it?  Any votes for this?

Except that means moving the mouse over the relevant slider, then setting it down because I need both hands to do the "Shift +-" routine (or a very klutzy move to do it all with the left hand on the right side of the keyboard).  That slows things down considerably.
Luckily, the shift key is right next to the arrow keys on a standard keyboard. All you need is two fingers, not hands. Also, you dont need to hold shift. up and down by themselves will work but wont be in large increments.

I get the impression that the people who design this stuff don't work with it much in real-world day-to-day situations.   I recognize that as users, we aren't aware of the programming difficulties;  but conversely, the developers seem to be somewhat unaware or unconcerned with usability issues.  Otherwise, you'd think they would do better in the ergonomics department.  Like I said before, all the event photographers I know are quite annoyed by having to choose between putting up with sliders in the Develop module, or having to go back and forth between modules.  Either way, it slows us down unnecessarily.
I am a workiing photographer who uses LR on a daily basis and never use quick adjustments in the library.  Some people obviously do and LR has made it availalbe while also being friendly to other forms of editing. I feel the LR team has done well to encompose many photographer's day to day needs into the interface.

  • Can't Remove Underlines in PDF/ Alternating back and Forth!

    Hello All,
I'm preparing a document that goes out to the entire Rogue Valley
in Southern Oregon, about 15 towns in the form of 4,000 printed
documents. I'm behind schedule and ran into a little problem when
    editing.
1st, this file used to be an Excel file which no longer exists. All the
text in my PDF document, are contained in boxes.
I was just about finished and adding some details, (underlining addresses
to offset 1 meeting schedule from the next), when somehow all my text
    got underlined.
I thought, ohhh a headache but, I'll highlight all text, click the underline
button to reverse the effect, and then start underlining individual parts
again. However, when I tried to do this Adobe Acrobat XI Pro would
alternate and underline some text while removing it from others, back
and forth with no absolute method of removing underlines.
It seems to me that there would be a command to remove all underlines
regardless of the circumstance?? What the heck, please help?????
    Thanks,

thank you for that advice. I assumed Adobe pro was like Office on steroids.
Sounds like there similarities are few and far between but they compliment

me lot of time and headache!

  • Apple TV 2 - Does the display flip back and forth ?

The original Apple TV had an irritating feature whereby the on-screen image would flip back and forth every 30 sec or so.  There was no way to disable this feature, and it ruined an otherwise good product (IMO).
Can anyone tell me if the ATV 2 also has this feature, and if it has, can it be disabled ?

As I mentioned it's not unncessary.
Actually it is unnecessary, unless you use a CRT or plasma TV.
    Not in all cases.
    http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.com/image-sticking.html
I suspect modern LCD panels are better but I used to get awful image retention on an LG LCD.
It was worse than effects I get on my current plasmas.
Anyway, I agree the flipping artwork is pretty annoying - I usually just turn the TV off with AppleTV 1 and use the iPhone to control the audio.  I've not tested AppleTV2 hooked up to the hi-fi but some suggest you can't get audio when TV is off as the loss of HDMI comms puts AppleTV2 to sleep.

  • Blue background when moving my macbook screen back and forth

When I move my screen past the 90 degree angle, at a certain point, the background on my safari windows will turn a light blue with very small striped lines.  Under words or my mouse, however, the background is still white.
    Thanks for any help.

It is an external HD, yes, but a "portable" HD... I have also tried just the external HD but found it very bulky and I always had to lug around the power supply and cords for the HD. Google "portable hard drive passport 500gb"... for example... that's what I use.

Nothing worse than being away from home and realizing I'd forgotten to take the photo/text/video development files with me. So I just copy/pasted the ENTIRE client file on the the portable drive... which included any DW site files. Now you may have to adjust some drive names (D:, L:, J: or whatever.) but you can hot swap back and forth and always carry the current version with you to whichever computer you are on
A "portable" HD rather than just an "external"...which may need it's own power supply, means that you can hot swap the HD, just like a thumb drive.... only a heck af a lot BIGGER!
....But during testing and set up... always keep a complete backup of ALL files until you get your particular set up working.

  • Compressor frame count jumping back and forth

    Hi guys,
I've never noticed this before, until last night when compressing a 25-minute film in Compressor at 'DVD-90 minutes, high-quality'. What in the past on this film might take an hour or so, last night took about 14 hours (i.e. all evening and through the night).
Compressor was advancing through the frame count, but then would return to an earlier frame, then jump forward through the frames again, then jump back to 10 or so frames earlier, advance forward, go back, etc. It took ages for it to get through a dozen frames or so.
It seems to me in the past when I observed Compressor, it works its way consecutively through frames, advancing forward one frame at a time.
I guess Compressor was reinterpreting data from an earlier frame, but is this normal? My film only has one of two video layers, up to 8 audio layers, some imported Motion QT files, and a very large PICT image file (scrolling end credits).
When examing the frame count where Compressor seemed to get bogged down, it appears it was towards the end of the 25-min. film (around the 42,000 mark). It seemed to be stuck there, jumping back and forth all night. Must have been when it was trying to digest the PICT end credits... Eventually it did complete the task and the export was OK.
If Compressor is having problems with the PICT (?), perhaps I'll test this out by putting my end credits on a seperate FCP sequence, export them as a QT file, then re-import that back into my film and see if Compressor is happier...
    Any thoughts?

Ongoing changes? What do you mean exactly? Anytime you add filters to a clip and render you are slightly lowering the quality...slightly. But exporting, expecially via Compressor, will add even more. How many changes are you making?

  • Position drift during the stepper motor controlled back and forth motion

    Hi everyone there,
I get a headache position drift problem during the stepper motor controlled back and forth motion. I have been wroking on the problem for the last two weeks, and still can not figure it out. So I write down here my problem in hope of getting some clues from those have some experiences in stepper motor motion control.
My goal is to use a stepper motor to drive a beam flage fixed onto the shaft to go back and forth for a certain angle, and this back and forth motion needs to be stable and reproducible within hours. With the SMD1 stepper motor driver, I only need to send in a pulse train to control the number of steps(the pulse frequency defines the stepping rate), and another pulse to controle the direction (i.e., cw or ccw). To do this, in LabView, I used the counter of the DAQ board to produce a finite pulse train to step the motor, and used one digital line to produce a pulse to switch the direction every 500ms, the timing is contolled by the software.(I used the oscilloscope to monitor these two pulses, the pulse train produced by the counter looks very stable, and delay between the pulse edges of the direction pulse and the pulse train is also very stable within 500ms. There seems no software timing problems at such a long delay.)  And this labview controlled motor appears to work perfectly as I required, the motor steps a defined number of steps at one direction, and then steps back at the origin position. But after running for a few minutes, the back position shifts gradually(I can not observe a obvious shift at the first few minutes) with repect to the origin position(the position I start running). I looked it up at the manual and also the website, I got a clue that this might because the motor steps at the resonace frequency of the motor and hence misses or takes extral steps sometimes. So I changed the steping rate from 1Hz to 1000Hz to see if the shift disappears or gets smaller at certain frequency range, but the shift always exists.
I did observe the shift got smaller within the same running time when change the step model from full step (1.8degree/step)to half and quarter step model. According to this, the motor did miss steps (or pulses) during running, the quarter step model has smaller shift due to the smaller steps.  But I also noticed that the motor always shift at one direction, no matter I started with clockwise or counter-clockwise, this seems really strange to me. Because the motor should shift at each direction with the same probability if we assume the motor missis steps randomly.
There is something must be wrong, either the labveiw program or the motor, but I don't even know a clue of this weird shift problem. And because of this, I haven't made any progress in my lab for the last three weeks. So any suggestions could be very helpful for solving this headache and will be really appreciated.
Thanks a million in advance and Merry Christmas!
    Li

    Hey, Brian Beal,
Thanks for your quick response. "accel" and "decel" mean acceleration and deceleration, am I understanding right?
If yes, then I don't have these in my LabView program, I just generate one TTL pulse train and one TTL pulse with LabView and send them into the SMD1 stepper motor driver.
The pulse train steps the shaft, and the other switchs the direction.
Yesterday, I confirmed that if the motor steer always at one direction either CW or CCW, then the stepping were very stable, no missing or extra steps happen for hours.
And I also observed that the motor took one extra step  from time to time when the direction changes. And this only happens when the direction switch from CW to CCW. (bizarre!)
I guess this indicates that some pulse noise happens when the motor switch the direction too often.  But I just don't have any clue for irregular extra steps.

  • WLS volleying back and forth bewteen 1.0 and 1.1 HTTP?

              Hi,
I have a servlet deployed on WLS 6.0sp2 Windows NT4.0 and a client that accesses
              it via Netscape Navigator 4.7
At different invocation times, it appears that the same browser talking to the
same servlet switches back and forth between HTTP 1.1 and HTTP 1.0 GET. Does
anyone know what determines WLS' use of HTTP/GET 1.1 versus 1.0 in this setting?
From my vantage point, its choice is unpredictable and non-repeatable.
              Thanks!
