Image size dialog box frozen

USING MAC, CS 5.5:  When I open the image size dialog box -- as well as the canvas size box -- for any file;  new or existing, and try to change the size, the box either won't let me change the number, or it closes out.  Doesn't scrash the app; just refuses to cooperate.
I've trashed the pref plist.......no luck...restarted, etc....
I'd be grateful for any ideas.......?

Have you installed anything recently? Software? Fonts? Brushes? If not, this is a long shot, but...
Is anything else acting up? Maybe in other programs? I had something like that several years ago. It turned out to be a bad key on my keyboard that would futz some things, but not others. I only found it when, in desperation after many days, I got down to replacing mouse, keyboard, anything to try and fix the problem.

  • How do I change the dimensions of an image? The Image Size dialog box will not allow me to change it

How do I change the dimensions of an image? The Image Size dialog box will not allow me to change dimensions.  I am taking an online class and the Image Size dialog box looks different than the one I am seeing in Photoshop CC.  It has the option to change the dimensions.

When you say chage the dimentions, do you mean crop the image and adjust the size of the image at the same time, or do you mean you want to just resize the image?  Can you post a screen shot of what you're trying to do?

  • Inaccessible parts of image size dialog

We have PS CS3 10.0.1 on two machines here.  Twice now when the person at the other machine has tried to change the image size of an image she is working on, the image size dialog has come up with the pixel dimensions read only and the size and resolution locked together so that she can change the size, but not the number of pixels, i.e., increasing the size reduces the resolution.  If she e-mails the file to me, when I open it the image size dialog is normal and I can change the size, leave the resolution the same, and thus increase the total pixel count.
Any idea what is going on here?

It was.  I have no idea how that got unchecked on the other box .. never look at it myself since I am always wanting to change the pixel count.
    Thanks.

The Image import dialog box has no "turn off" box to select after I turned it on to place a page in a PDF document. I am in Indesign CS4. How do I turn off this feature. It is showing the window now every time I import an image.
    Please help.

There should be a tick box called Show Import Options
File>Place and you should see it.

  • How to Disable Image Processor Dialog Box?

    Hey guys,
It's driving me nuts. I'm trying to create an action where I move image folder onto a droplet, which is image processor script and have all psd files turned to images. Howerver, each time I get the dialog box asking me input/output folder information and so on... Is there are way to suppress this popup? I'm trying to automate as much as possible, including not having to click the same button in a box each time
    hope you can help

If your using photoshop cs5 or cs6 you might look at the Image Processor Pro which records in an action as an automation plugin instead of a script.

  • 'Auto resize image' 'Settings' dialog box controls

I have a signature that contains an avatar image (size 120px by 120px)
Every time I 'Send' an 'Auto Resize Image' > 'Settings' dialogue box pops up
How can I bypass this as its becoming annoying.
Most emails (98%) do not contain any other embedded or attached images.
This only started to happen after upgrading to latest version of Thunderbird, was never an issue before.

Doesn't sound like a standard Thunderbird pop up as I've not come across it.
Do you by any chance have an addon /extension such as Auto Resize Image?

if yes, disable it and retest to see if message stops.
Check you are using an up to date version.
check to see if there is some settings you can use to 'not ask again' or similar. Can't say exactly as I do not use it.
I use the standard TB settings to adjust for sizing when I originally insert an image.

  • J2EE Tutorial:  SunSpecific Settings dialog box Frozen

I was trying to package the OrderApp example in the tutorial (Chap 27) and after defining the relationships between the different entity beans in DataRegistryJAR, I tried to set the JDNI Name in Sun Specific Settings dialog box. After that the dialog box froze and all I could do was shut down the deploy tool. How can I fix the problem?

It appears to happen consistently. Cant figure out the problem and appreciate your help. Thanks

  • When I right-click on an image, the dialog box (copy image, save image, etc) is now tiny

The right-click menu recently changed - it now only shows a max of three menu items in a very small box.
Compounding the problem is the speed at which the menu items scroll. It's so quick that I can't pick the menu item I want. I have to use the up or down arrow keys.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • Why can't I view an image in CS6 in the Image Size Box?

Does anyone know what I can do to view an image in the Image Size dialog box in CS6?  Tutorials show how it's an improved feature but, I can't view any images in it.  My version looks exactly like the old CS5 version with no window to view a photo.  Have I changed a setting to disallow this?  Any help would be great.
    V

It's Photoshop CC (CS7) that has that feature, not CS6.

  • Image Size Question

In Photoshop CS6 two of the options in the 'Image Size' dialog box are 'Bicubic Smoother (best for enlargement) and Bicubic Sharper (best for reduction). I have assumed this referred to a reduction or enlargement in the height and width of the image but do these options also refer to an enlargement or reduction of the image resolution?
I often keep the height and width of an image the same but change its resolution up or down, so should I apply 'Bicubic Smoother' and 'Bicubic Sharper' when I changing only the resolution? Many thanks for your help.

    Hello,
The Bicubic choices refer to if you are changing the number of pixels. If you are adding pixels, that is considered "enlargement" even if the print size stays the same. Look at the top numbers (Width and Height of Pixel Dimensions) in the Image Size Dialog. That shows you any real resizing taking place. Print Size and PPI are meaningless individually. They are just two factors whose product is the Pixel Dimension.
If you are reducing number of pixels, you can choose Bicubic Sharper, but many feel that down-sample algorithm can over sharpen. New in CS6 is Bicubic Automatic, which will apply Bicubic Smoother or Sharper depending if you are up-sampling or down-sampling the image.

  • Image size changes after saving and then reopening

I'm using CS6. For example I change the image size to a 4X6 and then save it. Then when I open the file it will be 7.5X5. What's the fix? Thanks for your time.

I'm using Photoshop CS6 on a Windows 7 - 64 bit system. I'm using the Image Size dialog box and saving the file as a 4X6 at 300 dpi from a psd file to a jpeg file. When I open the file it is 5X7.5 inches at 240 dpi. I've been playing with it and have just figured out that when I save the file as a psd file it stays the size I've created and it changes when I save as a jpeg file. This is change is recent. It's worked properly in the past. Thanks for your help.

  • How to change image size defaults

    Hi all
I have a burning question. In CS4, when I use the Image Size command, the default units are centimetres instead of inches under Document Size part of the dialog box.
I know that keeping rulers set to inches will change that default, but I distinctly remember the time when I was able to keep my rulers set to pixels, and my Image Size to inches at the same time.
Something changed at some point and I can't figure out what. How can I keep my rulers set as pixels, but the Image Size dialog box to inches at all times?

Problem solved by a fellow 'shoppist at another forum. He suggested changing the regional settings in control panel and restarting a computer, as he felt that was the culprit. Well, regional settings did it indeed - caught red handed AND with a thong in a purse.
Allow me to paraphrase a rant I already vented on the aforementioned forum: See, I'm in Canada. That means we're officially metric by executive decision. Only, no one ever bothered to tell us, the mindless minions, so we still scurry about our busy little lives oblivious to the existence of a centimeter, while fully engaged in an affair with an inch (or more).
Whoops, pardon - here in Canada it's spelled centimetre.
But every once in a while someone here will stub their toe on a stray "centimeter" (I'm trying to get fired from being a Canadian). And when that happens, since we can't actually see them, we just stare into an empty half-inch space wondering what possibly could have caused a hiccup in space-time continuum.
Microsoft had other plans though. It planted the invisible centimeters into the operating system that are triggered by regional settings. Settings that are officially metric, even if in reality they don't exist, just like the Hobbits, ET's and southern democrats.
    OK, rant is over!
