Image size issues with processing

New to Adobe, I have had several issues with consumers images. I can not find how to save as jpeg and keep photo intergrity. Either the processer (local pharmacy, big name store.. etc) is cropping my images badly. I have been told this is my problem when I save in jpeg format. How do i protect my image? Resize with the pixels? Please help

Hi,
The most likely problem is that your camera is shooting in a different aspect ratio that you are trying to print in. This usually shows up by either cutting the tops/bottoms off or by cutting the sides off. Alternatively you may get a border top/bottom or sides.
If that is the problem, you will need to crop the photo before getting it printed.
So that we can help, can you please answer some questions.
1) What operating system are you using?
2) What version of PSE are you using?
3) What are the pixel dimensions of the photo or what camera are you using?
4) What size of photo are you trying to print (6" x 4"?) ?

  • Paper Size issues with CreatePDF Desktop Printer

    Are there any known paper size issues with PDFs created using Acrobat.com's CreatePDF Desktop Printer?
    I've performed limited testing with a trial subscription, in preparation for a rollout to several clients.
    Standard paper size in this country is A4, not Letter.  The desktop printer was created manually on a Windows XP system following the instructions in document cpsid_86984.  MS Word was then used to print a Word document to the virtual printer.  Paper Size in Word's Page Setup was correctly set to A4.  However the resultant PDF file was Letter size, causing the top of each page to be truncated.
    I then looked at the Properties of the printer, and found that it was using an "HP Color LaserJet PS" driver (self-chosen by the printer install procedure).  Its Paper Size was also set to A4.  Word does override some printer driver settings, but in this case both the application and the printer were set to A4, so there should have been no issue.
    On a hunch, I then changed the CreatePDF printer driver to a Xerox Phaser, as suggested in the above Adobe document for other versions of Windows.  (Couldn't find the recommended "Xerox Phaser 6120 PS", so chose the 1235 PS model instead.)  After confirming that it too was set for A4, I repeated the test using the same Word document.  This time the result was fine.
    While I seem to have solved the issue on this occasion, I have not been able to do sufficient testing with a 5-PDF trial, and wish to avoid similar problems with the future live users, all of which use Word and A4 paper.  Any information or recommendations would be appreciated.  Also, is there any information available on the service's sensitivity to different printer drivers used with the CreatePDF's printer definition?  And can we assume that the alternative "Upload and Convert" procedure correctly selects output paper size from the settings of an uploaded document?
    PS - The newly-revised doc cpsid_86984 still seems to need further revising.  Vista and Windows 7 instructions have now been split.  I tried the new Vista instructions on a Vista SP2 PC and found that step 6 appears to be out of place - there was no provision to enter Adobe ID and password at this stage.  It appears that, as with XP and Win7, one must configure the printer after it is installed (and not just if changing the ID or password, as stated in the document).

    Thank you, Rebecca.
    The plot thickens a little, given that it was the same unaltered Word document that first created a letter-size PDF, but correctly created an A4-size PDF after the driver was changed from the HP Color Laser PS to a Xerox Phaser.  I thought that the answer may lie in your comment that "it'll get complicated if there is a particular driver selected in the process of manually installing the PDF desktop printer".  But that HP driver was not (consciously) selected - it became part of the printer definition when the manual install instructions were followed.
    However I haven't yet had a chance to try a different XP system, and given that you haven't been able to reproduce the issue (thank you for trying), I will assume for the time being that it might have been a spurious problem that won't recur.  I'll take your point about using the installer, though when the opportunity arises I might try to satisfy my cursed curiosity by experimenting further with the manual install.  If I come up with anything of interest, I'll post again.

    I have no issue creating images from restore disk sets (that shipped with machines) or retail masters of various OS's. This issue seems to be related to the particular drives I am trying to create images from.
    The drives that give me this error are hardwarily OK and the software works great. I can boot from these drives and have no issues with the machines imaged from them after the fact. I just want to Netboot off of these so I don't have to lug a million drives around...
    Any clue?

    i know that was the case in Leopard and Snow Leopard but i just mounted a leopard image to create a new netrestore on my lion server.  i was not able to boot any of my images created on Leopard or SL when running Lion Server.  I assume i need to recreate the images on Lion.  Right now my Lion server is using a leopard image as the source to create a netrestore i can push on the Lion server.

  • Form Size issue with multiple Digital Signatures

    I have created a form (liveCycle 8) with multiple digital signatures required.  When each user signs the form, that section of the form is locked using collections.  The form is workflow through email after each user signs it.  Each time the user signs and forwards the form, the form's size becomes too large.
    How can the form be optimized to compress each time an users signs the form?
    Thank you,
    Lori

    Steve,
       After your request to post the form, I wanted to removal some company items like the Logo.  Once I removed the Logo, I found the biggest issue was a Logo image size that was making the file so large.  Once I reduced the image size, the signatures only added 46kb at each signature level.
    Thank you for your help,

  • Issue with processing time of JDBC receiver adapter

    Hi all,
    We are using PI 7.1 EHP1.
    We have an issue with JDBC receiver adapter taking too much time to process messages.
    We are using XML SQL format message protocol with INSERT_UPDATE as the document format.
    Each message can contain multiple records, i.e. 1 single message can result in many updates/inserts.
    Currently, time taken to process in 6-12 secs which is quite high considering the messages are not very large in size.
    We sent the statements to Oracle DBA to see if anything about the queries being used is causing issues. Awaiting inputs.
    In the mean time, wanted to check if there is anything that can be done from PI side that will help us improving the processing time.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Sailaja.

    Hi,
           i think the main cause is  query taking long time to execute in DataBase.
          -> increase the read time and response time in the JDBC receiver adapter.
      In the advanced mode table section of sender channel and receiver channel configurations, we can set driver properties for each DB connection. Any such property would have to contain prefix 'driver:'(with out quotes).
    For Oracle Database JDBC thin driver 10.2.0.3 version, the property oracle.jdbc.ReadTimeout helps to set read timeout while reading from the socket. Also for setting login time out in Oracle, we use oracle.net.CONNECT_TIMEOUT. To set these two properties use as follows: driver:oracle.jdbc.ReadTimeout 1000 driver:oracle.net.CONNECT_TIMEOUT 1000 The TimeOut Driver properties like ReadTimeout and CONNECT_TIMEOUT are in milliseconds.
    Refer note 1078420 for more details
    please go through this blog i hope it will help you.

  • Image Quality issue with script

    So I recently wrote a simple script to output an image at a bunch of different resolutions. However, I am running into an image quality issue that I don't run into when I do the same thing manually.
    Here is an example image showcasing the image: http://terminalvelocity.ca/temp/notworking.jpg
    As you can see along the top of the model's forhead there is destinct color fragmentation. Which seems very strange.
    Here is the script, it is pretty simple, it asks for a few simple config options. (the above image was created using default settings). It then figures out the correct ratios and loops through doing each resize, saving the image, then reverting the history so each iteration uses the original image data and not the resized version:
    doc = app.activeDocument;
    openFilePath = Folder.selectDialog ("Where do you want the images to be saved?");
    maxSize = Number(prompt("What would you like to be the maximum length of the long edge? (Image is never upsized) (pixels)", 2800));
    minSize = Number(prompt("What would you like to be the minimum length of the long edge? (pixels)", 100));
    gap = Number(prompt("How much smaller should each image be? (pixels)", 100));
    quality = Number(prompt("What quality would you like the JPG exported as (0-12)", 10));
    var size;
    var primary;
    var secondary;
    if(doc.width > doc.height){
              primary = doc.width;
              secondary = doc.height;
    }else{
              primary = doc.height;
              secondary = doc.width;
    var ratio = secondary/primary;
    var size = [];
    for(var i = maxSize;i>minSize;i-=gap){
              var  p = i
              var s = i * ratio;
              size.push([p,s]);
    var w;
    var h;
    var n;
    for(var i in size){
              if(doc.width > doc.height){
                        w = n = size[i][0];
                        h = size[i][1];
              }else{
                        w = size[i][1];
                        n= h = size[i][0];
              if(doc.width >= w && doc.height >= h){
                        doc.resizeImage(w,h,null,ResampleMethod.BICUBICSHARPER);
                        jpgFile = new File(openFilePath+"/"+n+".jpeg" )
                        jpgSaveOptions = new JPEGSaveOptions()
                        jpgSaveOptions.embedColorProfile = false
                        jpgSaveOptions.formatOptions =
                        FormatOptions.STANDARDBASELINE
                        jpgSaveOptions.matte = MatteType.NONE
                        jpgSaveOptions.quality = quality
                        app.activeDocument.saveAs(jpgFile, jpgSaveOptions, true,Extension.LOWERCASE);
                        doc.activeHistoryState = doc.historyStates[doc.historyStates.length-2];
    In comparison, here is an example of an image of the exact same resolution that does not exhibit this issue at all:
    The steps taken to save this image were as follows: http://photography.terminalvelocity.ca/content/images/2012/avery_konrad_6/horizontal/1500. jpg
    Image > Resize > Bicubic Sharper (1500px);
    Save For Web
         Jpeg
         Quality 75
         Optimzed: true
         Progressive: false
         Blur: 0
         Convert to sRGB: true
    Anyway, as you can see, The manually exported image does not have any of the quality issues that are present within the scripted image. I am pretty new to photoshop scriping so am assuming it has something to do with me missing some sort of option in the save settings. Any help would be swell.
    Also note, this doesn't occur on all images, I usually don't see an issue when using the script, however, something about the tones of this particular photo make it really obvious.
    I am using the latest version of Photoshop CS6 (creative cloud) on Max OSX
    thanks so much!

    I'm on windows find the bicubicsharper does not work well it the image being resized has been highly sharpened all ready. Because of my Photoshop preferences I had to make minor modification to your script. I'm also a bit colorblind so i don't see many color issues so I include a screen capture if what windows does with your image and script.
    var orig_ruler_units = app.preferences.rulerUnits;
    app.preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;          // Set the ruler units to PIXELS
    doc = app.activeDocument;
    openFilePath = Folder.selectDialog ("Where do you want the images to be saved?");
    maxSize = Number(prompt("What would you like to be the maximum length of the long edge? (Image is never upsized) (pixels)", 2800));
    minSize = Number(prompt("What would you like to be the minimum length of the long edge? (pixels)", 100));
    gap = Number(prompt("How much smaller should each image be? (pixels)", 100));
    quality = Number(prompt("What quality would you like the JPG exported as (0-12)", 10));
    var size;
    var primary;
    var secondary;
    if(doc.width > doc.height){
              primary = doc.width;
              secondary = doc.height;
    }else{
              primary = doc.height;
              secondary = doc.width;
    var ratio = secondary/primary;

              var  p = i
              var s = i * ratio;

    var w;
    var h;
    var n;
    for(var i in size){
              if(doc.width > doc.height){

  • Promoted Links Tile Background Image Size Issue

    I am brand new to using sharepoint and I am having an issue with the images attached to the promoted link tiles.  No matter what size I change the file too, I can not get the tile to show the whole pictures.
    I have tried changing the image size for multiple different pictures in both photoshop and illustrator to 128px and 150px, with no luck!
    Does anyone have any advice on how to make the pictures fit in the tiles or how to start with an illustrator or indesign image and format it correctly to display in the tile view?
    As many details as possible will help since I just started using this program!
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is the promoted link tile can’t show the whole image.
    By default, When image with a blank space around, it would be transformed properly in promote link tile, I suggest you modify the image to make it with blank space around.
    For about modifying image, I suggest you post a question to the corresponding forum such as Photoshop forum:

    Feel free to reply if there are still any questions.

  • Excel 2010 paper size issue with PCL6 drivers after KB2592687 installed on client

    When I connect to the RDS server and open Excel with the PCL6 printer and select File / Print the paper size says Custom Paper Size and I can not change the paper size here, in the Page Layout tab or in the drivers properties pages. Using the PS driver there
    is no issue. I've tried using several stock PCL6 drivers from Windows 7 and have the same issue such as the HP LaserJet P4014/4015 PCL6. Using the Lanier LP131n PCL6 or PS I had the issue with PS as well.
    I do not have the drivers loaded on the server so it is using Remote Desktop Easy Print. If I do load the drivers and allow it to use them then there is no issue but I cannot configure the printers options without taking ownership of the printer so that
    is not desirable.
    If I do not install KB2592687 then there is no issue, but that is not an option as I am dealing with a customer who's IT manager refuses to remove this, even to test it, and says our printer driver has the issue and is not compliant with MS TS.
    Could I be missing any configuration, hotfix, policy that could explain this issue or any other workaround? Or is there a change required to our printer driver for this?
    Test setup:
    I created a new Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard server with SP1, Added the RDS Role, Installed Office 2010 Professional with SP1 using the Terminal Services product key. No updates were installed. I have tested installing every possible update as well for
    both Server and Office.
    I then created a new Windows 7 Professional x86 with SP1 client, installed PCL6 & PS printers, installed KB2574819 and KB2592687. No other updates were installed. I have tested installing every possible update as well.

    Hi,
    Did you find any particular Event ID for your issue?
    To troubleshoot this issue, have you tried changing the default printer and printing from other programs such as Word or any other?
    The issue which you are facing might occurs because the Microsoft XPS Document Converter (MXDC) determines the paper size by using the FormID value on the server. As you commented that you are using Easy print driver first you can find incorrect paper size
    if RD Easy Print printer driver first is enabled.
    To work around this issue, use the forms that are defined by the system when you print. The paper sizes for these forms match on the server and on the client computer. Additionally, a printer driver can rename these forms. Please refer below article for more
    information.
    The client printer may print the documents by using an incorrect paper size if the "Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first" policy is enabled
    Apart from this providing link to understand RD Easy print in Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Image Gallery issues with Lightbox2 - please help!

    Hello there,
    I am using Lightbox2 image gallery.  The loading.gif and close.gif aren't showing up and I think there's an issue with the path in the lightbox.js file.  The loading and close gifs are located in the Images gallery so I changed the path in the lightbox.js file accordingly - I've gone through this many many times but they are still not showing up.
    Can anyone please help me?
    My website is: www.labellepetraie.com
    Here's where I downloaded the script from: http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox2/#how
    I have tried all the path combinations mentioned in their forum but to no avail.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you for any help you can offer to me.
    Regards!

    Interesting.  I've just looked at your scripts, and it would appear that you have blended two versions of lightbox2 on your page,.  Is that possible?  The lightbox.js file has no function called initLightbox() in it, whereas older versions do.  So, try changing this:
    window.onload = function(){ // use this instead of <body onload …>
         MM_preloadImages('../3websites/home4.jpg','../3web sites/amenities1.jpg','../3websites/inquiry1.jpg','../3websites/rates1.jpg','../ 3websites/photos1.jpg');
            initLightbox();
    to this:
    window.onload = function(){ // use this instead of <body onload …>
         MM_preloadImages('../3websites/home4.jpg','../3web sites/amenities1.jpg','../3websites/inquiry1.jpg','../3websites/rates1.jpg','../ 3websites/photos1.jpg');
            //initLightbox();
    to see if that works.  I think so.  Turns out the initLightbox() function call that we activated by fixing the code before is no longer needed by the lightbox2 script as of v2.04!  I see that it still tells you to put that function call in the body tag, but i think that is wrong (which is very weird to say, can I really be right???).  If you look at the example page online you'll see that he uses this body tag:
    <body>
    and there are no onload's anywhere.
    Let me know.

  • Size issues with images in photoshop

    I have been creating dress patterns in illustrator and putting them into photoshop to add colour and print. These files have transfered over in the right size, and when I copy and pasted or dragged one of these images in photoshop to a blank A4 page in photoshop to print they still remained the same size untill today. I have tried it so many times and uninstalled an re installed the software but I cant seem to correct the problem. The images when dragged or copied within photoshop pages are so much smaller than they should be. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this??? Im desperate for any help.

  • File size issues with remote workflow

    Hi everyone
    I am currently reviewing InCopy as a tool for our two 24 page full colour quarterly publications and the problem I am currently facing is the design team are claiming the file sizes would be a problem for us to use the remote workflow - how do you guys manage large files over email? Any tips or advise?
    Also, regarding the layout workflow, does it require a large effort from the design team to divide into individual spreads? As this is another issue.
    We currently have a cumbersum process and would like to resolve asap.
    Would greatly appreciate any advise you may be able to offer
    Thanks in advance

    If you are using a remote workflow ... designers are sending off-site editors InCopy Assignment packages (ICAPs) .... then they need to create assignments in order to package them for the remote InCopy user. So there's no need to split up a layout into smaller files or anything.  An assignment is a subset of the INDD file; multiple assignments -- each encompassing different pages or sections -- are created from the same INDD file.
    When the designer creates the assignment, have them turn off "Include original images in packages"; that should keep the file size down.
    Or -- like Bob said -- you can avoid the whole remote workflow/assignment package rigamarole all together by just keeping the file in a project folder in the Dropbox folder on teh designer's local hard drive, and have them share the project folder with the editors. In that workflow, editors open the INDD file on their local computer and check out stories, just as though they were opening them from a networked file server.
    I cover how the InCopy Dropbox workflow works in a tutorial video (within the Remote Workflows chapter) on Lynda.com here:

  • File size issue with exporting PDF

    We write a newsletter for our daughter's gym and are trying to export a Pages '08 document into a PDF small enough for e-mail. When we export with Best settings the file size is 3.2MB, with Better the file is 4.1MB and with Good the file size is 3.8MB. Why would the lowest quality setting (Good) result in a larger file size than Best?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    That does seem odd the "good" export would be bigger. One thing that causes Pages documents to be so big is the graphics. If you pre-process the images to close to the actual size you'll use it will reduce the size of your Pages document. I prefer using GraphicConverter but you could use any image editor such as Photoshop Elements.
    Also, if you do any image manipulation in Pages, it will greatly increase the file size because Pages keeps all of the images in the document package.
    You can also try the "Reduce File Size" filter in ColorSync in the Print dialog. Click "Copies & Pages" > ColorSync & then Reduce File Size under Filters, Then click the PDF button in the lower left of the Print dialog. I don't find that the Compress PDF choice in the PDF menu saves much, if any.

    I exported raw images to Jpg and then resized as 1200 x 800 resolution images through "Easy batch Pro" app. When I uploaded them, they were extremely large. I've tried it several times and the result was always the same. Is it a problem with "Easy batch Pro" app, or something with Retina Display resolution? I also resized them as small size like 600x400, but the image was totally broke, and apparently had different look when I saw the original via aperture. What should I do?

    What's the problem exactly?  Call and complain.  It's up to them on how they want to handle it, but if it's something normal or minor, they'll just fix the issue under warranty and send you on your way.  That's how warranty works.  In instances where a user has had repetative failure of the same kind or others with the same system, a complete replacement was done, but those were issues that border on the "it's a lemon" idea.

  • Slide size issues with copy from another project

    Working with Captivate 4.  I have a completed project where I have a slide I would like to re-use in a new project.  The recording options for each project are the same - full screen recording.  The image is being cut off all the way around the when I 'Copy Slide' in Project A and 'Paste Slide' in Project B.
    If the layout size is the same, why is the image being cropped/adjusted in the Paste?  Is there any way to adjust the size of the image when pasting an entire slide into a project?
    Thanks in advance,
    D

    Hi again
    Seems odd. But I may have a workaround. What if instead of copying the slide, you simply insert a Blank slide in the new project? Then you copy the background of the slide from the older one and paste as background into the newer? Results the same then or what?
    Cheers... Rick
