Image size makes for slow viewing

Does iweb reduce the photos inserted from iphoto? Even though I have a broadband connection, when visiting my own site, the page with the thumbnails loads very slowly.
Do I need to resize them first in a separate album in iphoto?
I wish there was an option to set the image size, like you do when exporting from iphoto to email, or web, etc.
thanks.

This issue has been widely discussed in this forum. iWeb uses the PNG format for all but a few images. PNG is an uncompressed format, so that an image that would be, say, 30 KB as a JPEG can be 150 KB or more as a PNG. This is a huge problem and has caused my wife and I to totally drop iWeb because most people viewing our family web site have only dialup connections (rural area). I've read that 60% of the US are still on dialup, though others on this forum have disputed that figure, saying it is more like 40%. Even so, do you REALLY want 40% of your site visitors hitting the back button because it takes too long for your page to load. A simple home page that we created took 5 - 8 minutes to load on dialup.

  • How to set image size in a table view

    Hi,
I've just built a small VC application showing some process chain logs in a table view. For the different status types Error, Warning and Success I show the well-known traffic light icons. But up to now I haven't found out how to set the image size in a table view (height & width field is greyed out for the table). Any ideas? Or is it just not possible?
    Thanks for your help,
    Heiko

    Hello Heiko,
I don't know, if it is possible, but I would say,
it's not implemented yet. Maybe you can change the picture size and use then the pictures, that might be a workaround, if you can't change the height and width in VC.
    Best Regards,

  • What is the best image size format for imovie iOS

I want to create a few black images with white letters as title slides and use them with some of my videos I am creating using imovie with my new ipad3.
What is the best image size?
    thanks!
    Jeremy

It all depends on what you want to do with the images.
If you don't want to do any moves on the images then make them the exact size of the video.
The iPad 3 edits in full HD, 1920 x 1080.
If you want to do small moves, then make is larger.
But keep the 1920 x 1080 dimensions otherwise iMovie just chops the image to that ratio.
    good luck

  • Image Size/Resolution for ProShow Producer ?

Need to prepare images for a slideshow I am creating in ProShow Producer.  Not understanding their suggestion to convert my images to jpeg 1.5.
The projector is 1920 X 1080 and will be shown on a 26' wide screen at a movie theater.
I correct the RAW image and then Save As tif (dimensions are 5184 X 3456 at 300 ppi).
Usually I resize the tif at this point and Save As jpg.  When I resize I have always put in the dimensions 1920 width for landscape images and resolution 300 ppi.
Would you just change the pixel Dimensions and leave the Document size alone?
They want me to Save As jpeg 1.5 and I don't understand what they are asking me to do or how to do it.
Can anyone explain this to me?

try google. It appears to be a webcam format.

  • Feather radius for selection depending on the image size

    Greetings everyone,
I have a question about setting the feather radius for a selection depending on the image size. I'd like make the edge in the resultant layer mask have roughly the 'same' feather appearance for varying image sizes.
For files below 2000 pixels I would set  a feather radius of 0.2
For files above 2000 pixels I would set  a feather radius of 0.3
However, I started working with 4000-10000 pixel images and I was wondering about the radius for those images.
Is there a more 'scientific' method I could follow? Any thoughts welcome
    Many thanks
    gr

You would need to use Photoshop scripting to do that. Also using number of Pixels might not be what you want to use.  While number pixel is an absolute number pixels you have have no size information till there is a DPI resolution involved. At 300 DPI 300 pixels are 1" in size at 72 DPI 300 pixels are 4.16 inches in size.
A conditional action is not possible adobe conditional action support but is possible with the downloadable script  Siva's Contitional Action

  • How do you change the image size and resolution in photoshop everytime I change the width the height changes my measurements will not stay

Can someone assist me with changing image size and resolution.  each time I change the width the height changes and vice/versa?

There's a chain link between width and height. The point is to keep the aspect ratio the same, otherwise your picture would get stretched.
You click on the chain-link to shut that off and you can adjust width and height separately.
Also could you give us your version of Photoshop, what OS you are running it on (Windows 7 for example) and what exactly you want to do with your document?
Resolution is the print term for how many pixels will be printed on an inch of paper. It doesn't apply if your image is intended for screen viewing.

  • Image size adjust on DVD

I am putting my pictures onto DVD.  When I play the DVD some, not all, of my pictures are shorten and stretched, which makes them hard to see.  I have been told that it is a resizing issue, but I can't seem to figure out how to change the image size.  Is that possible and can anyone help?  Thanks

Image --> Image Size. For DVD (Video) all images must be 480x720 pixels (NTSC) with a pixel aspect ratio of 0.9 (4:3) or 1.2 (16:9). For PAL this would be 576x720, 1.667 or 1.422 PAR. That's assuming you mean true slide shows. If you are merely using your DVD player's ability to display JPEGs from a data folder, then a look in the device's manual would hold the truth. The player would do all scaling "life" then and limits in file size and resolution may apply.

  • How to set the font for table view contol

    Dear All,
My requirement is to set Font type = Arial and size=1 for
Table View control. The same font should be for  header, Rows and footer.
One way we are achieving it through the Renderer class. Where in we are we are supplying data, colums with html font tags.
Is there any simple way to fix font fot the entire TableView.
    Thanks
    Markandeya

An approach I've used is to override the CSS styles by adding code like the following to the top of the JSP page.  It's a bit of a hack, but it did the job.  You will need to find ALL the styles used in a table view, and override the font size.
<%-- OVERRIDE SOME CSS STYLES SO WE HAVE THE DESIRED TABLE CELL PADDING --%>
    <style>
    <!--
    .sapTbvCellStd {
         PADDING-RIGHT: 2px; PADDING-LEFT: 2px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px
    .sapTbvCellAlt {
         PADDING-RIGHT: 2px; PADDING-LEFT: 2px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px
    //-->
    </style>

  • 8851 Background Image size

I'm having problems with the thumbnail images on a 8551 phone.
According to the docs at www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/8811_8841_8851_8861/10_5/english/adminguide/P881_BK_A92A3B94_00_adminguide-8811_41_51_61-10_5/P881_BK_A92A3B94_00_adminguide-8811_41_51_61-10_5_chapter_01010.html the thumbnail image sizes for the 8851 are 25% of the main image size (which is 800x480 at 24 bit colour depth so the thumbnail would be 200x120) But a few lines further down, the docs say the image size should be 159x109 (which is NOT 25% of the background image size and is a different aspect ratio.)
I tried to open a couple of the existing thumbnails from Desktops/800x480x24 on my TFTP server, but they don't appear to be regonised as image files by my computer.
I've tried images of 159x109x24 bit colour and 200x120x24 bit colour, all PNG, but none of them work as thumbnails.
What are the specs of the thumbnail files for the 8851 phones?

  • Is there any options/addons for selecting/changing image size when viewing images?

When clicking to open images when on web pages there is no option to select size.
I'm looking at some pages that have images (mostly jpg) I like to compare and that is very hard when all images open in a size that normally fill most of the browser window.
So I wonder if there is some hidden options or addons for selecting image size when opening images for viewing?
I have tried Image resizer/scaler, image zoom and show picture with mix results. Image resizer/scaler and image zoom allow resizing of images, but when opening images on same tab as web page the white image "frame" that is visible when reducing image size is left in original size. This make viewing and opening other pages a hazard.
    I'm grateful for any help...cheers :-)

hehe no offense, but I'm not following the version rushing from Mozilla. I'm using many customizations and addons and it is a nightmare to change to a new version and practically impossible to use last version. Also the FIrefox history have shown that earlier versions have both been more stable and had better implementation of features.
Spending hours customizing and finding out that addons dont work with new version every time Firefox come with a new version , no thanks. For that to happen Firefox have to be more compatible across versions and more friendly toward customization in updates and new versions. I have used Firefox for at least 8-9 years with practically no security problems and one thing I have learned is: dont update or install next version if the version I have is working well.
Maybe I should have mentioned this in this question, that Im using v26 and that my FIrefox is heavily modified with addons and customizations.
    '''Back to the subject'''
Anyway I dont think any of my customizations or addons should create a white frame behind images, but I'm asking to find out if you guys also get this white frame when resizing pictures to a smaller size after clicking images for viewing.

  • When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?

When I have resized and saved an image in Photoshop (CS, version 8.0 for Mac) using image size, why is it so large when I open it in preview or another image viewer? Has it actually saved according to the size I specified?

You want to view the image at the Print Size, which represents the size that shows in the Image>Resize Dialog.
    View>Print Size
Since screen resolution is almost always lower that the print resolution (somewhere between 72 and 96 usually), images will always look bigger on the screen, unless you view them at print size.
(apple Retina displays have a much higher resolution than normal screens, closer to the average print size resolution)

  • Image size for 4:3 format appears somewhat zoomed in when viewed on my TV

I am using Final Cut Express HD to create movies and have just started using iDVD '08 to create dvds, and have run across something bothersome in iDVD:
When I view the iDVD movies on my TV that were created in a 4:3 format (640x480 resolution) in Final Cut, the image appears somewhat zoomed in versus what I see on my computer. This is causing problems with the composition of the image as it appears on the TV screen that do not appear when viewing the movie on my computer. Here's how:
    When viewd on the TV:
    1) the TV image's edge is zoomed in about 5-10% on all four sides relative the image edge as viewed on the computer screen
    2) when the scale of an image is reduced over time from 100% to something less (e.g. 50%) based on motion/scale keypoints in the clip's motion tab), the image detail starts zooming out but with the image size still filling the TV screen, then somewhat afterwards, the image size on the TV grows smaller as zooming out progresses.
Overall this disparity between computer screen image size and TV screen image size is causing two miscues with how the movie shows:
    a) the composition of the picture is altered because it defaults to being somewhat zoomed in relative to the image I see when creating the movie on my computer, with whatever image I have on the true edge (per the computer screen composition) not appearing on the TV screen and
    b) the timing of changes in image SIZE relative to audio or other video cues is thrown off in a way that seems difficult to predict when designing the motion effects in Final Cut.
Any advice on how to fix this?

    Hello phdtobe,
what you're experiencing is overscan - a normal phenomenon with CRT monitors - and has nothing to do with neither FCE nor iDVD.
Try using the "Action Safe" setting in FCE's Viewer to see the "crop area".
    hope this helps

  • Since downloading the 2013 Keynote upgrade, the slide image size on handouts with 3 slides per page option is very small. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping 3 slides per page   lines?

With the new Keynote upgrade (version 6.1), the slide image size on handouts is very small, which makes it difficult to read slide content when compiling lecture notes for students. Is there a way to make the slide size larger while still keeping to a format of 3 slides per page with lines?

A number of posts have reported the same issue, two workarounds:
    1
check the paper handling options or equivalent in your print dialogue box and set to scale to fit

in the Keynote option, in the dropdown menu in the Print section, select Individual Slides
then choose Layout, and set the number of pages, when printed you will have multiple pages on a single sheet.

  • Image size and format for IMovie

I am trying to make a short stop motion animation in IMovie. I have made my images in Adobe illustrator. I transfer the images into IMovie as JPEGS.the images, which are basically line drawings, look sharp and clean but as soon as you watch them as moving pictures they become broken up.
what am I doing wrong? does this have to do with my image size or format?

iDVD will try to downsize the image to work, but your TV often will overscan with the result being edges clipped off. The amount of clipping can vary, so the "TV Safe" settings will typically be the center 80-90% of the image. So, if you add a border that makes the image 10-15% larger, that should display the whole image. For example, if you had a 150 dpi image that was 640x480, you could put a 10% border on it so the final image was 704x528.

  • Photoshop crashes when I try and save for web and devices. Making the image size smaller does not help.

I'm trying to make a lopping .gif from an animation that I made. It's 147 total frames. It's crashed about 6 times now every time I either try and Save for Web or even just save the document on my desktop so in case it crashes I can reopen PS and recover it. Making the image size smaller (original size is 1920 x 1080 with resolution 72) does not help, it still makes the *ding* error when I attempt to save. I made the image more than half of the original size and the Save for Web box actually came up that time, but when I tried clicking save it said there was an error and PS crashed without warning.

Look at the crash report for your Photoshop crashes see what they show
