Image Size pop up menu missing in Mac Mail

Hi all,
I've just noticed a very frustrating problem with my mac mail which seems to have started recently, for no apparent reason. I have made no updates to my mac mail at all.
Basically when I attach and image to a new email, there used to be a pop up menu appear in the bottom right of the window where you can select the size of the image - small, medium, large or actual size.
This has randomly disappeared!
I cannot find any settings in the preferences for it to reappear. I have made no changes that would have caused this - at least not knowingly.
Any ideas as to how I can get the image size pop up menu to reappear when I am attaching images to a new email?

Well, it seems I have solved the problem. After searching all afternoon for a solution i thought i'd try the last thing on the list - quit mac mail and re open.
It worked!
The Image Size pop up menu now appears again when images are attached to the email.
Despite this, id still like to know what I did to remove it.
Any idea?

I had this problem and it was related to a Mail plugin (Daylite DMA).

  • Image size pop up menu missing in mail window

Tonight I was about to resize an attachment (a photo) in the Mail message window, but discovered that the image size pop up menu that used to appear at the bottom of the mail window is no longer there! I tried quitting Mail and launching it again, restarted the computer (a 2003 iMac G4 running Tiger), and repaired permissions. Any ideas on how I might get the image size pop up menu back again? Thanks.

Seems there must be something messed up on the HD.
Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
The important part is to Repair the Disk before Repairing Permissions.

  • Image size pop-up menu no longer an option

"Reduce the size of the attached images by choosing Small, Medium, or Large from the Image Size pop-up menu at the bottom of the message window. The menu appears when you drag or attach a picture to the message."
I used to have this option. I just noticed it isn't there anymore. Tried deleting the mail preference file, but it didn't help.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,
    clint

Nevermind, I just figured it out. My screen capturing widget saves files as .jpeg instead of .jpg. And Mail didn't like that.

  • "Streaming Buffer Size" pop-up menu does not exist under Advanced when I use iTunes - Preferences - Advanced. How can I increase buffer size?

How can I change buffer size in iTunes 10? "Streaming Buffer Size" pop-up menu does not exist under Preferences--Advanced.

    Hi all, iTunes streaming victims.
I struggled long with the streaming buffer problem of iTunes and indeed could solve it with increasing the buffer size, which features has been removed in iTunes 10. And this without updating the instructions by Apple!
    Here is my solutions:
    http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/
perfect for all wireless audio streaming not only for itunes, but any source on the Mac.
solved the problem completely for my 3 MacBooks, 2 airports, iphones etc.
it is not for free but a very good value for money.

  • How to show a blank or clear cell for the first entry in a numbers pop-up menu on a mac. I can do it on the iPad but not on the mac. Thank you.

Can you please advise how to show a blank or clear cell as the first option in a pop -up menu on a Mac, I can see how on an IPad but but not on the Mac.
    Thank you.

    Hi grm,
Yvan Koenig wrote an Applescript to create an popup menu with a true blank menu item. You can find it in Yvan's Box Account public area. Click on for_iWork'09, then for-numbers'09, then look for and download popup_with_nil.zip. Unzip the file, then open it with ScriptEditor.
Yvan's scripts include instructions (in French and English) on how and where to save the script and how to use it. I haven't read this one recently, so I can't give you any further details on it.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Image Size Pop-up Missing

The pop-up menu for changing the size of attachments at the bottom right hand corner of a new message is missing.
How do I get that pop-up menu back?

I am not sure of what you are inquiring about. Are you trying to include a photo from your library or some other type of attachment, like a .pdf or .doc?
If you are trying to include an attachment, then I do not believe you can change that within Mail.
You would have to reformat that kind of attachment outside of Mail to make a correction to its file size.
But if it is a photo from the media folder, those you can change and the drop down option menu should show up at the bottom of the outgoing mail window once you drag that image to the outgoing mail box.
    I hope that helps.

  • Image size "pop-up" in email misfunctions

I listed this question initially under the "imac" section but got no response. I have been importing photos into my emails from the desktop using the right click "share>email" option. Up until a few days ago this worked very well. Now I find the Small, Medium and Large options in the pop-up menu just give me a 10KB thumbnail. "Acutal size" will give me the full 5MB file size. I have inadvertently changed something but having ferreted around I can not find a way to change it back. I use this system all the time and I really need to fix it, so would appreciate any help. Cheers, jp

My apologies. I have discovered that the issue is not Apple related but caused by a new RAW converter I'm trying. Cheers, jp

  • Bottom "Image Size" selection is now missing...

    Apple Mail, Leopard 10.5.4
Apple Mail used to have a selection box at the bottom of an email that has an image attached to it that said "Image Size:" with a pull-down next to it to change the image size.
After a restart last night, it is no longer there. I can still select the image and right-click to change the size, but was wondering why this is now missing in new email message windows.
I have looked at all of the settings, but for the life of me cannot find it.
Any help in getting this back would be much appreciated.
    Thank you!!

how are you able to change the size by right-clicking on an image? I don't see that option. I do have that button at the bottom of the message composition window on both 10.5.4 and 10.5.5 machines BUT if I move the image inside the message to a new location this button disappears and there is no way to get it back. this looks like a bug to me. you can try upgrading to 10.5.5 and see if the button comes back. also, create a new account, set up Mail there and see if the button shows up.

  • Unable to create image-based pop-up menu

Working in FW MX (yes, I know I'm behind the times!).
Created a pop-up menu; want to experiment with image-based
options, rather than html. When I choose IMAGE on the Appearance
tab of the pop-up editor, no styles are available in the style
choosers for up/over states. (And there ARE styles in the
assets--including some that I've just created.) Furthermore, when I
click through the NEXT buttons to DONE, then return to edit this
pop-up menu, it's defaulted back to html. Image just won't stick.
The documentation says this should be simple and
straightforward, but it ain't. I've spent several hours struggling
    with this.

Okay, on the suggestion of one tech support person, I logged
in as a different Windows user. Whaddaya know, the style options
were there! However, when the file is exported, all I get is the
html version, no image/style-based popup. Same when I preview it in
browser (IE7, FireFox). But the preview in the pop-up editor does
show the styles applied--they just don't make it to publication for
    some reason.

  • Pop-up blocker: why is the "show the blocked pop-up" menu missing in the options?

There used to be the "show the blocked pop-up" menu item, whenever a pop-up is blocked by the pop-up blocker, I cannot see that menu these days.
Even in the pop-up blocker help entry, the menu item is in parentheses. Does it mean that sometimes the item would show up and sometimes don't?
What happened to this feature? I really loved this one, and it was one of the main reasons I started to use Firefox instead of IE.
Is there any way to enable this in about:config or something?

Thanks for your reply to this question. I believe that "show the blocked pop-up" ''was'' an option in FireFox's built-in popup blocker. As the OP mentioned, it is listed parenthetically on the [[Pop-Up Blocker Help Page|Pop-Up Blocker Help Page]]. Also, I don't run much in the way of add-ons and extensions, and no extensions were disabled when I updated this morning, but nonetheless the option seems to have disappeared. Since this problem doesn't have many "me toos," maybe it only happens under specific circumstances?

  • Quicktime Plug-In Missing from Mac Mail

    MacPro, 2.8 Quad-Core
    10GB RAM
    OS 10.7.5
Today whenever I try to attach a QT movie to a Mac Mail message, an icon pops up and says it's missing the QT Plug-In.
This happens once and a while with PDF's as well.  However, typically I reattach and everything works.
I've googled this and searched on here for a solution but can't seem to find a solution or an approach that applies.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Gmail IMAP Sent  Mail folder missing in Mac Mail

I made a change in Mac Mail by using the Mailbox/Use this mailbox for Sent Mail menu item on the [Gmail] Sent Mail folder and the original
[Gmail] Sent Mail folder has vanished. It still appears in the Gmail web interface and is checked on to show up in IMAP, but it doesn't appear in Mac Mail. Sent messages to appear in the Mac Mail snet folder, which is fine but I want to [Gmail] Sent Mail folder back. I tried turning the "show in IMAP" setting in Gmail on and off and it works for other folders, but not for the "Sent Mail" folder. I also tried restoring an older copy of the com.apple.mail.plist file but that didn't work either. Any ideas how to get it back? Pop is turned off as well.

It seems this is the desired behavior in Mail, as I don't need the [Gmail] folders to appear since the mail is all in the Mac Mail folders.
Of course, this might all break again when I upgrade to Mavericks :-(

  • How can i get my emails in the hotmail POP folder, to reload into Mac Mail?

On the hotmail page, it has the 'inbox/ but it also has a folder named POP.  In this folder it saves months worth of emails, older than the ones in the regular inbox.  I keep whats important and often refer back to the old ones in this POP folder.  The hard drive failed on my macbook pro, so i lost all of the emails that i normally hold onto.  Now that i have a new hard drive, i'm rebuilding my data, and would like to get the emails out of that POP folder to reload into my mac.  I cannot find anyway to do this!  All that loads into my mac mail, is new emails.  Any idea how i can get these to load?  There are 2000 of them, so resending each one isn't really an option!!!

What software version are you using?
All moving and copying should be done from inside the application.
Try using the relink function to point to the moved files.
