Image size problem in CS4?

I'm having trouble placing images into my InDesign files.  When I use Ctrl D or File-Place, the image places VERY tiny into the document.  I know the images aren't that small.  For example - the image I'm currently trying to use is about 2x3 inches, and is placing into my document not even 1/8 inch wide.  Is there a setting that I could be overlooking that somehow got screwed up?  This is driving me crazy.  It should also be noted that this is not happening in other documents, just the one I'm currently working in.

I found a work-around.  Instead of directly placing it, I was able to use the image tool, create a large frame, place the image into it, and then under fitting, fit the frame to the content (I made the frame larger than I knew the image was).  But I have some VERY large files that I've verified in Photoshop that come in the same way in this document.  They are miniscule - the image is so small that you can hardly see where it was placed if you don't know exactly where your cursor was when you placed it.

  • Image Size Problems when printing on Epson printers

    Hello all,
Here's what I have- I am running Photoshop CS 5.1 on a new Mac Mini, using OS 10.6. I am up to date on all software updates for both the Mac OS and Adobe.
As of two weeks ago, whenver I send an image to print on my Epson 4900 or Epson 4880 it prints much smaller than the intended size. For instance, I have an 11x17 piece of paper and it is printing an image that is roughly 6x9in, even though my image size is really 10x16. I know that I have the correct paper size. I even tried creating a custom paper size to no avail.
After few weeks of trying to figure out the problem, I decided to install a copy of CS4 on the machine. CS4 is working properly and I have not had any resizing issues......That is until today....Now, my Epson 4880 is having the same problem printing as when I was going through CS5.1
I trashed the preferences.....That didnt work either.
    Any thoughts?

    As of two weeks ago...

Try Epson's Advanced Product Support Center (I believe your 4880 qualifies for it)

  • Image size problem

I was editing a catalog, the pictures were full size, eg. 2270 x 1704.  Noticed on the 931th image and forward, the image sizes are small, eg. 580 X 440.  Also, when looking at the pics on the hard drive, the sizes of the pictures had changed from MB for the first 930 pictures to KB for the rest of the pictures.  2 Questions:
    1.  How could this have happened?  The pictures were all downloaded from the camera (1 year ago) at the SAME time.  I do not remember changing any settings on the camera when the pictures were taken that would have impacted the image size.  This seems to have happened also on other occasions, ie. I get a mix of image sizes for some reason.
    2.  Now that it seems I have to live with the smaller images, will they be a problem if I want to enlarge them or show them on a large TV screen?

The small images are only around 110K to 200 KB.

  • Urgent ! Speed and image size problem.

    Dear Java Guru,
I have the speed caused by:
    param.setCompression(TIFFEncodeParam.COMPRESSION_JPEG_TTN2);
    If use:
    param.setCompression(TIFFEncodeParam.COMPRESSION_DEFLATE);
It will be 6 times faster, but the image size is bigger.
But we need to keep the image size very small, say the COMPRESSION_JPEG_TTN2
allows the size to be 2714kb for 20 pages (Grayscale at 100dpi resolution). Is there a compression method that allows the image size to be 1500kb for 20 pages, yet at the time of encode, it is as fast as _DEFLATE method ?
Please help !!! our case is urgent
    Thanks in advance.

  • Image size problem when printing

After printing a few 6" x 4" prints on my Epson Stylus Photo printer I found that all my images were enlarged so cropped off slightly.  I now find that if I pre set the image size in library custom mode (6000x4000) first before print then they print the correct size.  Is this normal practice or can I set the correct image size in print mode so as not to crop off?  All my original images are either raw or tiff and considerably larger than print size.  In print mode all my margins are set to 0.00 and cell size to 6.00 x 4.00.

If you are going to print an image at 6x4, then you need to first use the crop tool in Lightroom and crop your image to a 6x4 aspect ratio. If your image is any other aspect ratio, the image will wind up enlarged and some of the image will not fit on the paper, as you have seen.

  • Reducing Image Size Problem

I am trying to reduce the size of an image for a friend, however when she prints the image out is is coming out as an 8x10. In Elements 6 I have the rulers up, and I have done "Image->Resize->Image Size" and have adjusted the width to be 2.5 inches and the height automatically adjusts to 1.8 inches, which is perfect for the frame my friend has, and then I click ok. I have the "rulers" on in the editor, and I can see on the screen that the image is now in fact 2.5 x 1.8 inches.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I may be doing wrong? Thanks!

You need to set the resolution field to 300, and then make sure
"resample" is checked at the bottom of the screen. Then, Save As a new
file - maybe FileName-2x1.jpg, and see if that doesn't do it. If you
don't resample, it is just changing the display of the pixels, not
    really removing them.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 and Adobe Photoshop CS4 64 bits Image Size Problem

I have a Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bits desktop computer. After installing the Officejet Pro 8500 multifunctional drivers all was working OK. Images were being printed nice and with the correct size using Windows print option. After installing Adobe CS4 suite, all images printed from windows or Photoshop have incorrect size (photoshop prints it smaller and windows prints it larger).
I've installed all photoshop patches and re-install Officejet 8500 drivers, but the problem persists.
I've also tried to make a clean installation of the whole computer from the beginning
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? What would be the windows/HP files that were changed by Photoshop?
    Thank you.

I'm on the phone with HP tech support about this problem. He said he's gonna charge me to fix the problem and than he put me on hold. I'm waiting to find out how much money I've saved. You put some dollars in my pocket. Thanks!!!!!!

  • Image size problem after converting from Managed files to Referenced files.

I recently moved to Referenced files for all my images. I use a plug-in (Graphic Converter 8.8.2) to resize all images to a consistent size (1440 pixels wide, landsacpe format) for a web app that I use (Sandvox). With Referenced files, when I drag and drop the externally processed image, it shows up at exactly one-half the correct size (720 pixels). As a test, doing exactly the same opeartion with an Aperture library utilizing managed files, there is no problem...it works as expected.
As a temproray work-around, I found that instead of dragging and dropping, I use the Aperture Export function, everything is correct. This is not really what I want to do because I have a lot of images to process.
This is Aperture 3.5 and Mavericks,  but the problem was there with with Aperture 3.4 and OS 10.7.5.

Thank you for the suggestion and running the test. I changed the Preview settings to 1440, and then 2560 and finally, Don't Limit. Quit and relaunch Aperture between each setting. No luck.
But you gave me a hint: maybe the problem has to do with the images being first Managed and then moved to Referenced files. So I tried one that has never been a Managed file and everything works correctly! Don't know if this is a bug or a feature.
Mystery solved, but I still have a lot of images to reprocess.
    Thank you for the help.

  • Image size problem with Retina Macbook Pro

I exported raw images to Jpg and then resized as 1200 x 800 resolution images through "Easy batch Pro" app. When I uploaded them, they were extremely large. I've tried it several times and the result was always the same. Is it a problem with "Easy batch Pro" app, or something with Retina Display resolution? I also resized them as small size like 600x400, but the image was totally broke, and apparently had different look when I saw the original via aperture. What should I do?

What's the problem exactly?  Call and complain.  It's up to them on how they want to handle it, but if it's something normal or minor, they'll just fix the issue under warranty and send you on your way.  That's how warranty works.  In instances where a user has had repetative failure of the same kind or others with the same system, a complete replacement was done, but those were issues that border on the "it's a lemon" idea.

  • Image size problems

I have images that are the same size and resolution. They look the same size in Photoshop. When I "place" them in InDesign, however, one is the size it should be and the other is not (it gets smaller).
Also, this is happening again with another image. I am saving it as the size and resolution I want. Placing it in Illustrator the rulers show it is still the same size. Placing it in InDesign, however, causes it to be smaller again.
    Help?!

That's a tricky one!  I don't know the answer, but suggest you move your question over to the InDesign forum.  They are a bit more active over there.

  • Document size problems in CS4 after Yosemite upgrade

Whenever I go to make a new document it is created at 1/10 the size that I input. I'm attempting to make a file now that is 8.5x11 @ 300dpi, and the document created is 0.85x1.1 @ 30dpi. Yes, I know all I have to do is move the decimal, but when I go to resize the file, the sizes won't constrain and only one dimension will be off. Anyone know what might be causing this? Any fixes?

Please let me know how it turned out.
I may be fielding more of these questions.

  • Image Link Problem with Dreamweaver CS4?

On my website, I have several images that link to other parts on my website. These work no problem when I preview the site, but after I test the links, the images that had those links have purple outlines that really clash with my website's design. Will users see this if they click on my links, and then return to the page? I'm using CS4 right now, and never recalled having this issue come up when using MX. Thanks for the help.

I got stuck on this one too - not realising that Dreamweaver automatically palces a border on every image link - but the simplest way I found was to have my "Properties" panel showing on the bottom and input 0 into the "Border" box. By having this panel open you can see if you have accidently applied any styles to the image, where it links to, Image size attributes and the Image name.

  • Cs4 small jpeg file shows as large image size

Hi I am using Photoshop CS4 and I am trying to downsize images shot from my camera to less than 1 mb, by shifting the quality of the jpeg slider to the left in the save as menu.
Once I've done that when I open the newly reduced jpeg file again, and I go to the image Size, it shows as 25 Mb,
This started happening after I reinstalled the Cs4 Creative Suite to my computer.
What can I do, as when I tried to upload the images, ebay said they were too large, ie the file size of the image didnt get reduced at all.
Is it possible to fix this as I have reinstalled the software twice, and I still get the same problem,
    thanks

Is it possible to fix this as I have reinstalled the software twice, and I still get the same problem
I think the problem is not at all Photoshop’s.
When you degrade an image by reducing the jpg quality the number of pixels does not change so the uncompressed image (as indicated for the opened file in Photoshop’s Image Size dialog) naturally has the old size.
What are ebay’s image requirements? Do they mention some maximum width/height in pixels?

  • I'm trying to get the image to print correct size.  i've tried center image, fit to media image,  and they all come out the same size...smaller than the size in "image size".  is this an Epson problem or Photoshop problem.  Thanks!

I just got a new printer...Epson R3000...but have had this problem before.  It's probably a simple fix, but I can't figure it out.  I'm asking for printing on 8.5 x 11 and the image comes out 6.5 x 9.5 every time.  Help please!  And thanks!

The Epson site stated that the R3000 printer can print borderless however the quality will suffer in the expanded print area. Borderless is not supported on some heavy paper.  To me the means your better off limiting you images size to the standard print area. There will be magins about 1/8" on the four  sides so the print area on 8.5"x11" paper is 8.26" x 10.76"....
Take note of the print size set by the epson driver it may change depending on the paper type set. Note my first epson 4800 setup where I set 8.5" x 11" sheet paper from tray into the printer setting the driver set a smaller size for the paper which was reflected into the Photoshop Print preview. It shows paper is 8.499" x 10.999 with a small unprintable area across the top....

Since the quality of any particular brand or type of paper may be changed by the manufacturer at any time, Epson cannot guarantee the quality of any non-Epson brand or type of paper. Always test a sample of paper stock before purchasing large quantities or printing large jobs.
