Image size seen in imessage

Ipad Air
I'm trying to make an image to fit completely within the tiny window that in seen when you text?
What size or maybe its a ratio of the image that is key to make an image appear full size within the imessage viewing area?
TIA

I believe the maximum image size in Lightroom is 64kpixels X 64kpixels.
I don't know what it is for Photoshop, but I'll bet that Google thing can find out.

  • New Image Size and Resolution in CC

    Hi there.
Ok, maybe i'm missing something, but how do i reduce the ppi's of a given image in the Photoshop CC? Changing it in the image size, in the Resolution field, it acomplish nothing. It logs an entry in the History panel, but nothing changes in the picture. Did Adobe changed how this works, or it's just a bug?
    Thank you.

Try setting to real-world measurement, like inches or cm.
Hi Charles, i think that change in cm/mm/in it's the only way to change the image ppi (in my case save/resample it to 108ppi). Can you confirm that this is correct?
Anyway when i go to image size (new panel of CC) the w/h are:
    1) grey and always set in pixel with resample flagged.
    2) always set in inches with resample NON-flagged (also if my ruler unit is in Pixel).
(and actually that is not new behavior. CS6 behaved same way when width and height were set to percent)
In CS6 and CC i never seen w/h in percent  - where is my error?
    Many thanks!

  • This is about the still image size changing from what I see on the computer monitor and what the burned DVD shows on the TV

I have Prem.El 12 and have used PE4 for years.  I have a new PC that runs Win7Pro.  The still images on the computer monitor are within the "safe margins".  The still images after the movie has been burned to a disk are MUCH smaller on the TV screen.  Is this an issue of 16:9 vs 4:3 ratios?  My TV is 4:3.  Can I tell PE12 to make the movie a 4:3?

    retchemteach
Although I have seen your post of today in my Inbox Email Notifications, that post has not yet appears in this thread. It will probably will sooner or later. But, to keep things moving along....this is a copy of what I am seeing as your message of today in my Indox Email Notifications
Thank you for your patience in the time it is taking me to get back to you.
I am still trying to buy some DVD-RW discs and will hopefully do that in a
bit.  Meanwhile, I have more info for you and some simple (I hope)
questions.  If you want to insert your answers, that would be fine.
My camera (for stills and video) is set to the 4:3 ratio.  It is capable of
being set to a 16:9 ratio if I wanted to do that.  I looked in its TOOLS
    menu and saw this info.
My TV is definitely a 4:3 TV.  (I measured it with my tape measure and
divided W/L to get 1.33)  The TV can show a 16:9 movie and just adds the
black bars on the top and bottom.  Question: What will my old 4:3 movies
look like on a 16:9 TV whenever we buy one of those?
It seems to me that I want to set PE12 to the NTSC DV Standard you
    mentioned.
I do NOT know how to “size your photos so that each has a 4:3 aspect”,
unless you mean doing that in Photoshop Elements, which I know how to do
    (*see below)
I had NOT considered that I would need to watch the preset for the
‘Publish+Share’ step; so that’s good to know (I copied and pasted your info
    for later use).
BTW, years ago when I had difficulties with my XP computer working on PE4
(had only 2 GB RAM), an Adobe tech told me to resize my photos * to have a
720 pixel width (the height would be automatically adjusted) to lower the
file size to something my computer could handle without crashing.  (That
was back in the good ol’ days when Adobe support would actually talk with
their customers and try to help them in the first month)
My new computer has 16GB RAM.  Do you think I still need to reduce file
size?  One does lose some sharpness in the resizing process…..however,
these videos I’m making are travelogues and are for a fun way to view pics
and videos of a trip…nothing Earth shattering….and just a hobby to keep me
    off the streets.
I truly appreciate the time you take to help me (and others).  I was even
tempted to try to install my old PE4 on my new computer just to be able to
    enjoy my hobby again.
    My reply to the above....
    1. If you camera is giving you 4:3 photos and your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 is running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit, then leave
the photos as is unless you have a lot of photos and each has pixel dimensions sizes way over 1920 x 1080 pixels that are giving your computer resource issues. If you have to down size them because of computer resources, then copy the photos to a computer desktop folder and also create an empty folder on the computer desktop.
    a. Photoshop Elements Editor, File Menu/Process Multiple Files.
    Process Files form Folder
Source - browse to and select the computer desktop folder with photos to be resized
Destination - browse to and select the empty computer desktop folder
    Image Size
Check Mark Next To Resize Images
(no check mark next to Constrain Proportions)
Type in Width = 1000  (set units for pixels)
Type in Height = 750 (set unites for pixels)
    File Size
Check Mark Next to Convert Files To
               Set for JPEG High Quality
The above should work fine for a NTSC DV Standard project with a burn to DVD disc with preset NTSC_Dolby DVD (4:3 video).
    2. With regard to the TV Set and 16:9 video....when you have the DVD-player attached to the TV, do you have the opportunity to bring up a display of menus with
controls for Picture and Aspect Ratio? From what you have written so far, it looks like the answer is no. I am not sure how your TV DVD
    player will handle 16:9.
Best do a mini test run
    1. Project preset set manually to NTSC DV Widescreen (please refer to post 1 link)
    A few photos sized for 1600 x 1200
In the Premiere Elements project, use the Safety Margins inner rectangle for text placement
    Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc with preset = NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
See what that looks like on your TV DVD player.
If you discovered that your current TV DVD player can be set for a 16:9 display, then I have a preferred workflow for
NTSC DV Widescreen which typically gives best possible results. Hints of things to come.
Please review and consider. Thanks for the follow ups.

  • Image size changes in report

    Post Author: dwtalso
    CA Forum: General
I'm currently working on a set of reports that has two images embedded on the "cover page". They are embedded as OLE Objects. Very often when I open these report to work on them the images will have shrunk. The "object" is still the same size because the border then it's selected is correct, but the image within the object is shrunk and distorted. Grabbing the object and nudging it on the page resets the image size and it will not change again until I close and reopen the report.
A little less frequently, I'll open a report and the image will be gone. The object is still there and can be select but there is no image. Nothing restores the image at all at this point.  I have to reinsert the image from it original source or I have to open a different report and, if the image is good, copy the image and paste it into the broken report.
What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do to get these images to stop doing this?
    Thanks

CR, being a report writing software, is not that good at manipulating graphics. We rely on the graphics to be in as "usable a format" as possible when passed in to the report engine. Having said that, there are suggestions I've seen on these forums that may be of help. See if using the search at the top right corner (Select "ALL of SAP") will help.

  • Image size for ibooks author

    Hi
I am making a book using iBooks author. It will be image heavy. (40-50 images)
I have a few question on images.
    1. I do not want the file to be huge or take an age to download so an Apple rep informed me that the images should ideally be no more than 500-600kb per image saved at 72dpi
Forgve my ignorance but can someone eplain to me what this means in terms of pixels?  What size (height and width) and resolution (pixels per inch) should I save images so that they can be seen at their best but not be overly large?
The finder window when I try to resize images gives me some standard options. Should I take these?  Also if I click on 1024 x 768 pixels as a standard size, the width and height boxes do not change.
    I'm a little confused.
    Many thanks

This thread is over 12 months old now...perhaps you posted here by mistake. Your problems have slready had rep,ies in another thread, however to answer your question..
No, iBA does not seem to change image  size....which is why you see posts about tickets for images size  in books held back by the review team.
Consider that Apple gave you free use of iBA. Pages, inDesign and others come at a cost.
If you intend to create other books with a high photo image content, you really need to consider investing in suitable software.
I suggest you search the net for "photo image  editors"  or similar, dont wait for iBA updates..I doubt Apple will address image sizing and "cropping" can effectively be done using the image mask.
As in all projects be it eBooks, making kitchen tables or building  a tree house...its sensible to gather all your assets and ensure they are suitable for the planned use....before starting the construction process.

  • Image Size reduction and gain resolution... Help?

I have searched the forums and seen plenty of talk of Image Size and resolutions but havent stumbled upon what I need.
Hopefully someone will be nice enough to help me or to link me to help?
I have a large photo (3456x2304) but it is at 72ppi.
I am trying to use it as a very small image (200px or so) but I need it at 300ppi.
I keep going into Image Size and reducing its dimensions to the size I need and marking 300dpi.
Problem is when it resizes it gets horribly pixelated!!!
I cant figure out how to use the image size and/or crop tool in order to reduce the dimensions and not lose quality.
Best work around I have found is to reduce it to about 750px 72ppi and then in illustrator contract the image to the actual print size while gaining resolution...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a relationship between image size and ppi (resolution)  that can not be changed.  Here is an example from the web titled "understanding resolution".
Let's say you have an image that is 9 inches wide and 6 inches high with a resolution of 240 pixels/ per inch (8.9mb file).  If you change one of the values the other two will change (resample image turned off).  In this example if you changed the width to 6 inches the height would become 4 inches and the resolution would become 360 ppi.
So if you are taking a large image and reducing the size the ppi has to go up.  There are the same number of pixels in the picture, they are compressed into a smaller space.  The article says this is because a digital image has no absolute size or resolution.  All it has is a certain number of pixels in each dimension.
    Hope this helps.

  • Amusing little image size/dpi bug in CS5

Has anyone else discovered PS CS5 applying nearly random dpi settings to newly opened documents?  This is not a destructive bug, as far as I can tell, but when I open "Image Size," PS will sometimes give me a whacko value for dpi (something like 1.2 or 3.4) with appropriately expanded dimensions.  I then reset the dpi to something sane (72, 300, whatever it ought to be), and the image dimensions return to what they ought to be.
No biggee, but I don't like signs of random mischief in my software, and would like to find out if this is a known issue.
I did, incidentally, run "image size" and "dpi" through the PS help forum search engine to see if this has been discussed recently.  Came up with a big "no" both times.  Seems like that's another piece of software that is largely decorative.
    Thanks for any light,
    Richard Hurley
    Grass Valley MultiMedia

Haven't seen that, but there are bugs in, for example, the JPEG writing software in some cameraphones.
I had one phone that insisted all the photos taken with it were at zero dpi. That caused some problems.
I had a different phone which reported that all photos taken with it were at something like six-million dpi. Closer inspection of the file revealed that it was trying to write some fairly normal dpi, but was getting the byte-order wrong.
If your new images are coming from the same device or application, it might be worth checking the documents in Preview.app, and doing a "Show Inspector" (command-I) on the image and see what Preview thinks about it.

  • PS CC Image Size Looks Different

This may be in here somewhere, but I didn't see it....
I very recently switched from CS6 to CC.
I edited an image, made a selection, blurred the selection, did my normal processing, then sent it back to LR5.
In LR5 I cropped and exported to 1280 px on the longest side.  Image looked as edited...
Later I got to thinking about sharpening and decided to try cropping and resizing in CC so I could sharpen just the areas that were sharp.
Cropped the image as desired, then did image/image size and cropped to 1280 px.  The area I blurred is DRASTICALLY different - much blurrier.
Went back in history and did a stamp visible, then repeated the crop and resize.  Image now looks as it should.
Tried it with the "scale styles" turned ON and OFF.  No difference.  In theory I've inserted both images.....
This appears to be very different behavior than I've seen in previous versions.  What do I have set wrong?

    Hi Noel,
I opened the image from LR5 as a standard image.
On the original layer, I did the selection of the background.  Feathered it 1 px.
With the selection on, I duplicated it, which gave me a layer that only contained the background.  This way, when it's blurred, it can't blur pixels where the sharp areas are.
I converted the new layer to a smart object.
I then did a filter/blur/gaussian blur of 4 px so I'd have a smart filter.  Looked, fiddled, adjusted the filter eventually to 6 px.
From that point I did my normal
    clone/heal on a layer
dodging on a 50% gray overlay layer
burning on a 50% gray overlay layer
Adjust contrast/brightness/whatever on a curves layer
Adjust saturation on a hue/sat layer
    save the psd...
Crop using the crop tool - no set size, just removing excess stuff
Do image/image size to resize to 1280 px -- this is the point where the background blur changes
IF, on the other hand, prior to cropping, I do a merge visible (with alt down - stamp visible?), I can then crop and resize and the background doesn't change...
I presume I"m doing something wrong in the image size dialog, but I don't see it.  I've tried it with the scale styles on and off - no difference...
If there's any other info you need, let me know.

  • Transparency problems when I distort Pdf image size (ie: 100%x99%) then Export. Is there away to fix

I sometimes have transparency problems when I distort PDF image size (i.e.: 100%x99%) then Export. Is there away to fix.   Or at least be able to preflight and know I have an issue.

Mostly I have seen borders and drop shadows that will just go away or other wise not print right but only when I distort the image and only on very complicated large PDF images.  When I print it at same % both horz and vert. this problem goes away.

  • Image size / flash bug ?

    Hi there,
I did a website for a photographer: very simple, three themes
(music, portrait, nude) every theme with one large image that you
    can scroll through.
One of the images is nearly 10.000px width. This was no
problem, a few month ago when I created the movie first (in
FlashMX). Now it suddenly is. The movie already works fine in some
browsers/computers, but in some browsers it doesn’t ... (It
seems not to be a browser or Mac/PC-problem, because I’ve
seen both: Macs it works on, PCs it works on, Macs it
    doesn’t, etc ..) When I now create a movie with CS3 (same
fla-file) all I see is a red face. I figured out that when
I’m scaling down the image size (to 7.500px width), it works,
then I can create a movie in CS3 that works.
Does anyone hear of that problem. Is it a FlashCS3 bug?
You can see the website here (if you’re lucky you can
    see the naked girls!):

hi Victor, I was able to view your images in an older version
of flash player (9,0,47) Your flash player is most likely the
latest one (9,0,115). The latest flash player version has a problem
displaying images that have been saved in cmyk colors. Try to
reexport the image in RGB and then re-insert it in Flash.

  • No Image Size menu or Message Size report in New Message window

    Greetings all,
New iMac user (OS X 10.5.8, Mail 3.6). In scanning Mac Help & the Apple Support forums, I note numerous references for Mail 3.6 to an Image Size Menu button at bottom right of Compose window, and a Message Size window at the bottom left. Have never seen these items. Are they hidden? If so, what is the reveal? Appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

    To All,
After sending in my question, I went back to Mail Help & noticed that images could be attached by dragging from Photo Browser or Desktop or Finder, or by clicking on the 'Paperclip' icon. We had only ever used the 'Paperclip'. Dragged an image from the Photo Browser and both Message Size report & Image Size menu button appeared. Then went back and tried Desktop, Finder & 'Paperclip'. Now, the two items appear, whichever method is used. Doesn't work on all .jpg images, but is sufficient for the need.
Guaranteed that if original question wasn't submitted, never would have found out how it works. Many thanks to Apple Discussions.

  • Question on Blu ray image size output and reducing the size

    Hi
I have been using encore for blu ray projects which is been proving very helpful. However recently i have had a issue with output size on files. Normally Encore gives me it's estimate that it will fill the disc nicely and provides a image/folder which is about 17-20GB (using 25GB disc) but now out of the blue it's files sizes it outputs has been 24.8GB which technically is less than 25GB but as anyone knows who burns to media, the disc doesn't actually have 25GB of space (something like 23,8 or something, i can't remember without checking). Anyway of course this is a issue because my output size is contantly now coming up to be about 600MB - 1GB over the disc actual size, i figured Encore normally compresses files to fit considering i have burned similar amounts/size media before and never had a issue.
Anyway my issue is the slightly larger file size, i figured the easiest way to reduce the blu ray output size was to of course play with the transcode settings, which usually are set to the default settings for Blu ray (the quality preset is called something like "1280x720p 50 High Quality MPEG-2") so of course i thought to lower the bitrate a little just for a test, so i did just that and cut the default bit rate from 25[Mbs] to 20, i didn't want to lower it too much as it was a test to see what i could save for file size. Anyway so i re-transcoded the file and built another image, sadly the image size oddly enough came out as 26.something GB... so it actually grew in size by reducing the file bitrate which put me at a loss. I was wondering what common ways i could use to lower this file size just by a few hundred MB or up to 1GB in this case without having to remove content from the disc (it would be a waste to not only seperate the content but to use a whole disc for a leftover 600mb-1gb project). I of course want to keep quality as high as possible but i understand when trying to reduce size quality has to normally be hit in these situations so i can deal with a slight loss of quality. I have been browsing the forums here and though some topics seem similar they have the issue of file sizes coming out as 40GB+.
Now im no genius with Encore, normally as said the file size is always between 17-20GB as i figure encore was using a "fit to disc" type feature but because the output size is technically below 25gb but not actually below enough to burn i was wondering 2 things:
    1) is it possible to make encore it's self shrink these files a little more, lowering the target size down by 1GB would do wonders but only option i have seen is to have a 25GB disc or DL disc with no option to customize the output size (forcefully lowering it by 1GB).
    2) because i imagine the above can't be done i was wondering how to go about reducing the size by around 1GB or so, i don't need like 10GB freeing up so it's only a small amount, as said this is a issue i have had with the last few projects i made and the size varies from needing 600MB - 1GB (it doesn't usually exceed needing 1GB free space... besides when i lowered the bit rate which increased size a lot). In the past i always just cut the bitrate of files down a little (never by lots but enough to free space up) but clearly that failed my test so im at a loss of how to reduce file size without a huge loss in quality.
For the record i have already produced the file as both a image file and a folder and both have the same issue.
    Extra info on the project:
It contains 4 Menu's, 13 video files which vary in lengh from short ones at about 5mintues to longer ones which the largest is about 20minutes. I commonly burn this number of video files/space with fine quality and no issue so i would rather not take files from the project.
quality preset details are defaultly as said above set to "1280x720p 50 High quality MPEG-2" settings, i am not on my computer with encore at the moment so i can't post full specifics right now but if you have encore handy you should be able to check.
Tried reducing bit rate but that increased overall size, the actual plan was to hopefully lower the bit rate to around 21 [mbs] (from 25) and then do that for multiple (or all) files until it fitted but after it increased the size i lost hope there, it said the estimated file size (on the individual video) would drop by around 300-400mb  but that didn't work.
I have tried both folder and iso which always come out the same size.
Basically my main question/problem is any suggestion to drop the file size by up to 1GB without taking items out the project or a real high loss in quality (i don't mind small loss though as i can apply whatever solution to all files which should help).
Any suggestions what i can try? as you probably gather im not a genius when it comes to this stuff but i tried including what i thought is relevent.

    Hi and thank you for the reply;
one problem i seem to be having when reducing the bitrate is the file size is oddly increasing from 24.8GB to 26.4GB, i can't really figure this one out as well it's having the oppisite effect. I checked the "streams" folder on output and decided to compare automatic transcoding to manual lowered bitrate and im not too sure where the increased file size is going, i found which video file it was causing the issue, all videos files range or average around 1.6GB each but one file was taking 4.5GB, after lowering that files bitrate it cut it down to 2GB which was of course saving me 2GB from the old file but the overall size had increased which was odd. Seems the other files are all the same so it hasn't tried improving them (so it seems) so i can't make ends of why the size is increasing.
I will try playing with the source file to see if i can do anything that way, if not i will try transcoding in premiere (i have had troubles with this before so i try to avoid it).
Oh and yes i was using Automatic.
Anyway i will see if editing the file outside might help first and see how that works. Thanks again for the reply.

  • Data Merge Image Size

If I create an image frame and place a data merge field in it, when I do the merge, it makes the image the size of the frame (i.e. either enlarged or shrunk to fit). I would like the image to come in at 100% so that I can use the "fit frame to image" command instead of having to first resize the image back to 100%. I've tried messing with the frame fitting options, but nothing seems to be of any use. If I'm missing something, I hope someone can fill me in.
In the event that there isn't a way, is this something that can be scripted (after the merge, run the script to select all image frames, set the image size to 100% and then scale the frame to the image).

In my testing, selecting preserve image and frame size and center in frame keptthe frame at the size drawn int the template and centered the image.  Unselecting the center image put the image inthe upper left corner, and it either left the frame alone if it was larger than the image, or expanded it (even off the page) if the image was too large. Most images seem to have been imported at 100%. I still can't explain why a handful are coming in at 50 or 25%, but there was a bug discovered a year or so ago that caused image scaling for particular pixel dimensions for one user (might have been a combination of dimensions and resolution) which might explain it. I'm merging into a 20 x 24 page filling nearly the entire page withthe frame, and there seems to be space to place these files at 100% so it's a puzzle.
I haven't seen ay images scaled up...

  • Image size problem when printing

After printing a few 6" x 4" prints on my Epson Stylus Photo printer I found that all my images were enlarged so cropped off slightly.  I now find that if I pre set the image size in library custom mode (6000x4000) first before print then they print the correct size.  Is this normal practice or can I set the correct image size in print mode so as not to crop off?  All my original images are either raw or tiff and considerably larger than print size.  In print mode all my margins are set to 0.00 and cell size to 6.00 x 4.00.

If you are going to print an image at 6x4, then you need to first use the crop tool in Lightroom and crop your image to a 6x4 aspect ratio. If your image is any other aspect ratio, the image will wind up enlarged and some of the image will not fit on the paper, as you have seen.

  • X6-00 contact image size

    Hello,
does anyone know the image size to use as contact image ?
    Thanks

It used to be (several iPhone releases ago) that photos that were added directly on the iPhone appeared large, and photos that were synced to the iPhone appeared smaller.
I have not seen any update in the past couple of years to know whether this is still true.  But I suggest trying that approach.  Make sure the photos added on your iPhone directly are the most recent updates for those contacts you want to see a large photo for when they call.
