Image Squished Upon Import from Photoshop

I imported a simple Tiff from photoshop and it looks vertically squished upon import (about 5% but still). Has anyone seen this before? I tried exporting but it still appeared squished. Any thoughts on what it may be.

You can render to whatever size you want.
You can precompse your HD comp and nest it in a SD comp, and render from that if you wish.
Or, you could use the stretch options in the Render Queue to downsize your comp.
The point I'm trying to make is that there are only a few HD frame sizes (image dimensions).
Generally speaking, you have 1920x1080, and 1280x720.
Those are the two flavors that you have to work with in HD.
Some codecs create variations on those sizes based on pixel shape, but that's it for HD.
Once you depart from one of those frame sizes, you're simply not displaying HD material, beit created in AE, or shot in camera.
If you present a frame size that was downsized HD, then it is no longer an HD frame.
If you want to show your client a certain piece "in HD", then you may want to make sure you're showing them a true HD file, and not a downsized verison.

  • Images won't import from Lightroom. (I have Creative Cloud 1.7.1.418/Photoshop (2014)/Lightroom 5.6)

Images won't import from Lightroom to be edited. There were no problems until I upgraded to Photoshop (2014). LR & Photoshop work well independently (I have Creative Cloud 1.7.1.418/Photoshop (2014)/Lightroom 5.6). All are up-to-date.

I had the same problem.  It seems the scripts that control the transfer of images from LR to Photoshop got deleted or messed up.  The fix I found on the LR forum was as follows:
This solution allows you to run a repair installation without uninstalling Photoshop CC 2014. If you've already uninstalled Photoshop CC 2014, install it from the Apps tab of the Creative Cloud desktop application.
Open the Creative Cloud desktop application.
    Select the Apps tab.
Scroll down (if necessary) until the Find New Apps section displays.
On the same line as Find New Apps, select Filters & Versions > Previous Version.
Click the Install button next to Photoshop and select CC 2014.
    Click Yes, install this version.
Once I did this, the interaction between LR and PS CC 2014 started working again.  I did notice that Photoshop showed up as needing to be updated in the Adobe CC application so I just clicked on the update button and after a few minutes photoshop had been updated.  The importing function still works so I think everything is OK.
Not sure if this was part of the problem, but after updating the PS CC 2014 application  the first time, I uninstalled the original PS CC application as I didn't need it anymore.  I'm thinking that may have caused the scripts to be uninstalled along with the PS CC application.  Rerunning the installation put things back to normal.
    Hope this helps.

  • Importing Images into Flash CS4 from Photoshop 7

    Hello,
I've created an image in flash, basically the image is a ring which has then been divided into 3 equal segments, each segment exists on its own seperate layer with and has a transparent background. I want to make ach of these segments into a button on flash, so I've imported them across and converted them into buttons, however the problem I have is that when it gets imported into flash, it creates a box around each segment which is what flash sees as the full button, this means when you roll over a blank piece of the segment flash recognises it as rolling over the button. Is this just an inherent problem from importing from photoshop into flash or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks
    Sean

    Check the settings:
    Edit/Preferences.../PSD File importer...
And then load the *.psd file without the background.
And certainly there is no change in flash...

  • Import from Photoshop Album PSA to Lightroom (same in Elements?)

    Hi,
here my experience with the import from Photoshop Album to Lightroom.
    1. Tags and Collection import
    > OK
    2. Tagging of the imported images
    > NOT ALL of the imported pictures where Tagged!!!
This is really annoying, as you have no way to know it
    before you search for them.
    3. Import of the edited version of the pictures
    > When a picture as been edited in Album, only the ORIGINAL one
is imported in Lightroom, not the edited one.
    > At least, the edited one could have been imported with the original
    in a stack!!
Import functionality is crap for now if you ask me.
    What is your experience?
    Régis

Because I've used PSA, PS and now CS2 and 3 for years, I had really hoped--indeed, assumed--that LR would be an elegant and trouble-free solution with which to migrate a large and growing catalog away from the slowness and lack of view in PSA, as well as adding RAW-handling ability (since storage dropped through the floor, I shoot JPEG and RAW by default). While the LR interface is pretty and the fleur-de-lis whimsical, LR is in my admittedly-limited experience neither elegant nor trouble-free from a database perspective. Perhaps in a few versions it will be, but it isn't now. The PSA import was a joke, operations are slow, and despite preference settings, it fires up whenever I hook up anything which XP considers to be an external drive. I have since licensed a previously-installed demo copy of IMatch, which I'd been holding off doing based on my flased LR assumption. Importing PSA to IMatch requires some simple under-the-hood work in Access (there are posted routines to accomplish this), but once that was done the import was flawless, with all PSA tags in their own cubbyhole and associated with the proper images. Why Adobe didn't facilitate this is a real head-scratcher.

  • Importing From photoshop to flash

After importing from photoshop to flash to create a website, the background image that i had within photoshop was set to 1304x700 pixels but when i imported it into flash the image changed to the canvas size that i had made the document in photoshop which was 1000x700 pixels.  Now i can change the size of the image when it has been imported into flash to 1304x700 but it obviously messes up my pic quality.
Can someone please help me lol im new to this. I might go mad shortly, ive tried importing it three times now.
Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me.

  • Why is everything I import from Photoshop pixelated?

I'm using both Adobe After Effects CS5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5 and no matter what I import from Photoshop, wheather it'd be an image or text or anything, it is always pixelated.. It has nothing to do with the size because no matter what the scale is, it's always pixelated.. I'll create an image in Photoshop and then save it as either a .jpeg or a .png file and when I import them to After Effects they are very pixelated to the point where you can't make out what the image is.. Is there a setting I need to change or something? I need help fast.. Please help Adobe Community!

FOR NOW?  Hmmmmm, that's a telling comment.  Perhaps its genesis will be revealed at NAB.
Frankly, I don't know one way or the other.  I haven't read many of the emails waiting at home from Adobe because I don't get on my home email very frequently.

  • How do I import from Photoshop elements 12 to Lightroom for Mac OS?

How do I import from Photoshop elements 12 to Lightroom for Mac OS?

I never did it from Windows to Mac.
I assume you need to move everything to Mac PSE12 (or PSE 13) by downloading the 30 day free trial of PSE 12 or 13, and then once everything is working, use File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog in Lightroom. Your tags and albums will remain intact. I believe the face recognition transfers as well to keywords, but the location in the photo of the face will be gone as Lightroom has no such feature.

  • Blurring of images imported from photoshop?

I have latest version of iMovie and OS. When I import images from photoshop, I get blurring of the image and sometimes pixilation. I looks normal in the workspace viewer but when I play the timeline the image deteriorates.

Thanks for looking at my problem. When I looked carefully at the new name (thanks dj for telling me to do that) I realized that the name had parts of what I had added as a preset and applied in External Editing. What appears to have happened is that my original preset was corrupted and dropped out the part that told it to use the original file name. I have repaired it and now all is well. Thanks for the responses and the help! Much appreciated.

  • Imports from Photoshop CS2 after editing

I frequently use Photoshop CS2 to edit my digital photographs; however, I like to use iPhoto to view or otherwise manipulate the images into different albums, slideshows, or uploads to my .mac account. When I open iPhoto to import a photo edited in photoshop, I get an "Unreadable file" error message stating that the requested image is "an unrecognized file type or that the does not contain valid data." I can't get the edited photos added to the iPhoto library.
I've tried importing photos saved in several different formats - jpeg, RAW, TIFF - with no luck.
Is it possible to import an image into iPhoto from Photoshop? If so, what am I doing wrong? thank you.

    Kyle:
Also if you set iPhoto to use PS as the editor of choice by going into iPhoto's General preferences and selecting PS in the "Edit photo:" menu. Then when you double click on a thumbnail, PS will open, you can edit the picture and save it. This way the thumbnail will be updated as well.

  • Importing from Photoshop

I'm trying to import some photos from a file from Photoshop. Half the files will import and the other half will not. THey are all saved the same as jpegs however the last half cannot be read by iphoto. Any idea to correct this?

    Hi Brenda,
    Thanks for the reply,
I am improting from my external hardrive. I have also saved to my internal hardrive to try eliminate the problem. However to no avale. Anyway, I am starting to wonder if it is a disk space issue. There are about 170 images to import. They are all saved as 4x6's @ 350dpi. The only reason why I want to import them is to create a slideshow of these files because they have been colour corrected. The other issue is that I did restart the computer and it worked. But, I went back to look at the slideshow yesterday and they weren't there. So that's why I think it's a memory issue. Should I try to save them at a smaller size that would be ideal for the slideshow. And what size would that be?

  • Import from photoshop to fce

I'm trying to import a title page that I created from photoshop cs2 into fce. I kept it as a .psd file and when I import it , the color is no longer there - it is grayscale.
    Any suggestions?
    Susie

It was created in photoshop on the same mac I'm using for the video. The contents are wording, a background and a colored border. If I flatten the image and save as a jpeg, the color appears. I wanted to keep as a psd in case I needed to make changes and I've been able to do similar titles in the past.
    Any suggestions?

  • Images pasted into mail from photoshop are drastically reduced in size.

At work, I am constantly sending previews of artwork through email. I CmdShiftC in Photoshop to copy merged (this essentially takes a screen shot of your current selection in a Photoshop document, then I Cmd+V to paste it into mail.
I have been doing this exact process for over a year now, it works every time, the images are pasted at actual size and are not modified in any way regardless of how huge they were.
This morning they suddenly started showing up as dinky, useless thumbnails.
There is no option in mail I can find to control this, and the multitude of other posts in this forum about the same complaint mention a little popup in the bottom right when you have an attached image. I do not have this popup, there is nothing in the bottom right of my window.
Why is this happening, and how do I fix it?

it's not a popup, it's a little scroll button. and you should be getting it when you attach images. however, in my experience, sometimes this button doesn't show up for whatever reason. the following method works for me when I run into this problem (which happens with some regularity btw). start a new blank outgoing message and attach an image to it. don't do it from photoshop. just drag some large image from finder to the message composition window. hopefully, the scroll button will show up. adjust it to "actual size" and close that message composition window. next time you attach an image to a measge it will use the same setting to display the image, i.e. 'actual size".

  • Preserve the layer order imported from photoshop

Is there a way to import photoshop files to after effects and keep the layer order from photoshop? I don't want to have to go back to all of my photoshop files and rename them.
And I'd like to use the folders instead of compositions (the ones that are made after importing to After Effects) because it's harder to see how everything works when you're working one composition at a time.
    Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. But it doesn't quite answer my question. I'm frustrated that after importing the photoshop files (they each have multiple layers), I'd bring it into the overall composition and when I look inside the folders, they're automatically ordered alphabetically. And I'm wondering if there's a way to keep the order of the layers I had in Photoshop.
And I understand that if I were to double click on the compositions that are created after importing Photoshop files, they're in the same order as Photoshop file layer orders. But I don't like working in those compositions because I can't see how they all fit together in the overall composition.
Do you know if there's a way to prevent After Effects from reordering my layers alphabetically?

  • Decreased picture resolution when importing from Photoshop Elements

When I export pictures from Photoshop Elements 7.0 to Premier Elements 7.0 the resolution decreases significantly.  I tried to "bypass" Photoshop by importing the pictures from my hard drive but ended up with the same problem.
Can anyone help me to locate a solution to this problem?
    Thanks.

This is because, when you port your slideshow to Premiere Elements, it becomes video -- and video has a resolution of essentially 640x480 pixels at 72 ppi.
If you'd like to save your slideshow at full resolution, you'll need to use one of the other export options -- and you'll need to make it playable on a computer, which has a higher resolution than your TV.
