Image to fit in landscape frame without stretching image

I want the main body of my landscape image to bleed off the left edge of frame however this creates a white gap on the right edge. When I pull the image to the right it 'stretches'

With the Free Transform (E) or Direct Section (A) tools select the image, hold down Shift and drag one of the corner handles, which will constrain the sizing. You can also use Command-> or Command-< to increase or decrease the image size.

Does anyone resize images to fit InDesign Rectangle Frame tool?

My question is based on some booklets that we have created in the past. We have some very large images all 300 ppi, but when shrunk down they tend to have an effective ppi of 500 or greater. Part of me feels that when the effective dpi is large, that I should go back into photoshop and resize those images, hopefully saving the size of the PDF file after exporting. So, my questions are one, does anyone even resize images anymore to fit the rectangle frame to keep ppi around 300 or two, do they not do this anymore and let InDesign handle this process when exporting to PDF?

Better quality is to resize in Photoshop and sharpen there, because InDesign has no choice of the method of sharpening. But to be honest, in the majority o cases I do resampling in InDesign when exporting to PDF.

Draw Image on Frame without Graphics

There´s a tutorial on that matter here .
But for the beginning, it might be helpful for you to know that you can at any time call the getGraphics() Method of any child of java.awt.Component to get its Graphics object. Still, I´m not sure if that is good practice.
I´d take the tutorial if I were you.

Shouldn't object style with 'fit content to frame' work with updated images?

I have a script that places pdf files from a list onto pages. The rectangles are built with an object style that fits content to frame. This works, but if the pdf file is then modified, InDesign does not fit the new content to the frame when the link is updated. Is there a reason why the object style does not honor its settings?

How do I get a picture to fit the full frame size?

I uploaded pictures into premiere pro and the picture is tall enough for the frame but not wide enough. I want to get rid of the black border without stretching the picture, How do i do so?

If your images are an aspect that does not fit easily into
a standard video frame, you might need to scale up
(or preferably down) and reposition your images to fit.
What are your image dimensions?

Taking 4:3 to 16:9 without stretching..?

Is there an app (MPEG Streamclip or something) that can add black "pillars" (opposite of letterbox) to a 4:3 clip so it won't stretch in 16:9 ..?

You can "pillarize" your video (did I just coin a new term?) with MPEG Streamclip. Drop your 4:3 video in the app and select what format you'd like to export it to. Let's say, for qualities sake, you choose "Export to QuickTime" and select Apple DVCPRO50. Select the "FRAME SIZE" you want, which will most likely be 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 if you're striving for 16:9. Interlaced scaling will be pre-selected by default, and you may as well leave it selected. Just for the **** of it select "Better Downscaling." Can't hurt...supposedly improves the quality of conversions, though the conversions take slightly longer.
Okay, on to the pillars. One of the adjustment selections you'll see is "ZOOM," which changes the aspect ratio of the video. Leave the first setting where it is at 100%. It's the next setting called "X/Y" where the pillar/letterbox action is. You'll notice X/Y offers three choices. The first, by default, is "1." That simply leaves the video at the mercy of the frame size you've selected - meaning that it would stretch your 4:3 into a 16:9 video. Not what you want. The next choice is "1.333." That'll letterbox your video, which is great for converting 16:9 to 4:3. It's the last choice offered that'll give you pillars - "0.75." After selecting it click the "Preview" button to see if the adjustment takes you where you want to go. If it doesn't, than I've completely misunderstood your question! Sorry.
Incidentally, you can remove the pillars/letterboxing by changing the Zoom field from 100% to 133.3%, which would enlarge your picture to fit 16:9 without stretching it. Quality may suffer a bit, but it's worth experimenting with. (The Zoom "Center" feature is usually left at zero, unless you want to move the picture to the left or the right a bit).

Iphoto Books: How to Enable "fit photo to frame size" when theme grays it out by default

Don't know if this has been posted before or not, but I've been using the "Modern" Theme in iPhoto books and trying for the life of me to figure out how to get my photos to not crop while they're in a single-photo framed layout (I'm not using 4:3 photos; mine are 8.5" by 11"). Even fully zoomed out my photos cut off at the top and bottom. I knew about the "fit photo to frame size" option but the theme had it greyed out--except for on one page, in which it was already enabled. So I must have done it before without paying attention, but it took forever to figure out how to do it again.
Here's how:
1. Open up the page you want to modify. I'm assuming here that your photos are already placed, but if not, place the photo you want to use.
2. Click the Layout tab.
3. Change the layout to the single page full bleed option--no frame. Your photo should now be blown up across the page.
4. Right click the photo. The "fit photo to frame size" option should now be available for you to check off. Go ahead and activate it.
5. Change the layout back to the single photo framed option. Your photo will now fit inside the frame, although to truly see the whole thing you have to open up the Options tab and select the borderless option.
To save time in steps 1-3, and step 5, you can also change the layout of all your pages at once by clicking page 1 (not the cover, the next page), then opening the Layout tab, then selecting the layout you want. You still have select the "fit photo to frame size" individually for each photo.

There is an option for the Initial View that is "Magnification:" "Fit Page". And this works for the initial page when the PDF is opened and it does not matter what the page size it, Acrobat/Reader will automatically fill the screen with the page. If you want the zoom type to change with each page then you need add a page open script to each page to set the pages zoom type to "zoomtype.fitP"

Creating a still frame without timex

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a really quick way to create a still frame without using timex (it freezes up my entire tree for some reason when I use it with the keymix layer), without having to render out a single image (I dont want to loose quality) and without having to drag it through timeview (I get real finicky trying to drag the time bar back and forth with the mouse or pen)?
There has got to be an easy way!

Just change it from 1145-1325 to 1-5000 or something(you are allowed to change those values). Either that or do a new filein and only pick the frame you need, not the entire frame sequence and it will automatically set the in and out as infinity(uncheck the "sequence listing" in the file browser).

Fitting Content to Frame to a Path or Mask

We have been asked by a customer to try and achieve the following:
They have a number of eps's of a flat screen TV's. For each TV, there is a path around the outside. We will call this Path 1. There is a second path around the screen of the TV. We will call this Path 2.
Is there a way of placing another image, and fitting content to frame (just like in Indesign), using Path 2 as the bounding box?
We are using both CS3 and CS4.

Having only recently started to appreciate and utilize the capabilities of JavaScript for Photoshop myself I may appear overzealous in advocating it, but everybody will have to decide for themselves if they want to give it a try.
With possibly hundreds of images I wouldnt want to rely on the screens (or their paths) to all have the same diameter and a Script can allow for that with transforming the placed image according to the height or width so as to always fill the area completely (thus clipping at the top/bottom or left/right depending on the relation).
And (though too complicated for myself) it would be possible to let Photoshop work off folders and not get stuck by the occasional file that doesnt conform to the naming conventions or lacks a path by ignoring it and documenting unedited files at the end.
Thats always assuming that the photographs of the tv-sets are fairly frontal, because if they are in perspective then the matter gets much more complicated, but what with the allusion to doing it in Indesign I concluded perspectival transformation isnt required anyway.

Suddenly cannot fit content to frame with cmd/shift/E in Mac

I suddenly, when working on newspaper pages from a set of master templates, can no longer fit an image to a frame using the command/shift/E shortcut to fit content to frame. I can fit the image to frame using the pulldown menu, but not with the shortcut. All I get is an error tone. Also, when I click on the image window with the direct selection tool, instead of the image window being selected, you see this frame outside the image window, like the frame it's working with actually is larger or something (I hope I explained that right). Anybody know what's going on here, and how I might can fix it? I'm sure I accidentally changed some setting somewhere.

It would help if you gave details about your version of ID and OS.
The shorcut problem might be due to a switch to a new shorctut set. Any other shortcuts not working? Is the correct set selected when you go to Edit > Keyboard Shorctuts...? Anything else acting strangely? That could indicate a corrupt set of preferences.
When you select an image with the direct select tool you should see the bounding box of the image which might be larger than the frame containing it (is the image cropped?) selecting a frame withthe direct select tool would reveal a text wrap path, if wrap is applied to the frame. Does either of those sound like what's happening?

There are two basic Title formats — I should say Layouts — available: Text (plain) and Paragraph. (The plain text version usually does not appear with the blue dot controls — those generally appear for the paragraph type control.)
If the Title is using a Paragraph layout, it's like having a mini version of Text Edit available inside FCPX. You can tell when you click on the text (when the title is selected) -- a rectangle will appear around the text like so:
double clicking on the text will give you the bounds controls which you can use to redefine the text area without distorting the text. Once selected, notice the button that appears in the top right corner of the canvas:
Pressing that will activate the ruler. You can right click on the ruler and add Tab Stops (left, right, center and decimal.)
So if the title uses paragraph formatting, you can create a very WYSIWYG type of display text (use the Text inspector to alter text selections within the paragraph bounds.)

After a few minutes on certain websites, firefox stops drawing new frames without a mouse movement to force a redraw

After having certain pages open for between 5-15 minutes (at the most) such as youtube, facebook, or myspace (these are the sites that consistently cause it, but are not limited to them.) The browser no longer draws new frames without the mouse being moved and calling the draw function through it.
The issue started a month or two ago. There had been no new plugins or add-ons installed for at least another month prior.
The closing X in the top right also becomes non responsive (though it will light up.) The browser can be closed through the right click menu in the task bar, along with the closing X in the thumbnail preview.
Program and window completely freeze when attempting to move the window for around 10 seconds, then move to the location designated.
Other browser have no issues.

Selecting items in a frame without selecting frame (HTML)

i have a web page with two frames for two jsp's;
and i'd like to be able to tab elements in those frames without passing the focus to a frame in whole/
i tried to set a property <frame tabindex=-1> but
in this case all the frame becomes inaccesisble
if this propery isn't set i can tab until a whole frame becomes selected - that is a birder around it appeares///
what should i do then????

i needed tabIndex = "-1" in a body tag of a page!!!
