"image" to "picture" conversion

Dear labview gurus,
I have a problem that I would
like some help with. I have a labview VI that creates an image using
the "IMAQ image" block set, and I have a VI that allows image selection
with the mouse. Most of that second VI's code comes from an example.
The problem is, my picture selection VI requires that the picture be
the "picture" data type, but the pictures my other VI creates are the
"image" data type. Ctrl-h says the first type of wire is "picture" and
the second type of wire is "Image Dst Out (IMAQImage)". I either need
to convert the "image" to "picture", or rewrite my picture selection to
take in an "image" variable instead of "picture." I'm not especially
good at labview, and I'm running out of time, so conversion seems to be
the best option. I found another thread that talks about converting an
"image" to an array, but I'm not sure how to turn that array back into
a "picture". Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
sdt51

Hi Daniel,
The VI that I posted actually did the right thing, but I misnamed it.  Where did you see this VI?  I just created myself on my PC here.  Regardless,  here's the same VI in 8.2.

What is happening with your images when you try to convert?
You may want to try disabling the 'Recognize text' option and then convert your document again.  I've seen that help in some cases where the images didn't convert as expected.

I only use Image Capture, so I can't speak for other software.
Here is how I select a Scan To destination:
If you are using the minimal details screen, you should have the same submenu to the left of the page size.

  • I clicked on Firefox update button. Once the 3.6 was upgraded, now my images and pictures are all blurred.

A couple of days ago, my system said Firefox update available. It encouraged me to upgrade to 3.36 for faster and better connection. I did just that. After words I logged into Facebook and then logged out. I logged into another favorite website. Immediately I noticed every image or picture on internet, website etc became completely burred. I can't tell most faces and it hasn't changed back. How do I change back to older version so that I have good pictures/images I need? I need to see pictures properly. Also, google itself on home a page looks blurry.

Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.
You can check that in the "Compatibility" tab in the Properties via the right-click context menu of the Firefox desktop shortcut.
Make sure that all items are de-selected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

  • Saving images in Pictures

I'm new to aperture, and I am currently saving my files in it's library. I have been contemplating starting to save in pictures, but I haven't fully committed yet. I'd like to know a little more about each option before I fully junmp in. I would appreciate any insight that any long time users have, and I just have a few questions about saving my images in pictures when importing, rather than in the aperture library. Thanks for any info.
    1. When I make adjustments on an image, where is that new adjusted version saved in the pictures folder (or is it not until I export that version)?
    2. When I batch change the names on files in aperture how do I get it to apply those file name changes to the corresponding files in the pictures folder (or is it only changing the file names on a new version that it has created)?
    3. If I save in pictures, can I still use the vault system to backup? Does it work as well and is it as easy to vault in pictures as it is using the library?
    Thanks again.
Mac Pro Quad Xeon   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   2GB RAM

All adjustments are stored in the library as a list of changes to the original. When you export, all those changes are performed and the result written out.
Only the version names are changed (as far as I know). I personally see no point changing any names except on export.
The vault will only back up the library contents: keywords, adjustments, etc. plus all the managed masters. All referenced masters are your own back up responsibility.

  • SCSM attaching email images as "Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)"

    Hi all.
Recently, more and more images from emails (screen prints of errors etc) are appearing on SCSM 2010 as "Picture (Device Independent Bitmap)" which cannot be opened in any of the normal Image software (Paint/MS Image and picture viewer etc).
It also seems to crash SCSM when people try to open/save these files.
Anyone have any ideas?  I can't see anywhere to specify how SCSM should treat images in e-mails and not sure what the cause is (normal environment of sender - XP/Outlook 2007 etc)
    Thanks
    Phil

    Hi Warren,
I have a real easy solution for you.
Zip the files and remove the .zip off the file name, then the firewalls won't strip the file out, or block the emails. Leave an instruction about putting the .zip extension back on in the email, and you're done.
I use this whenever I need to do what you're doing with good results.
    Cheers!

    Hi,
Although the mobile version of Internet Explorer is supported by SharePoint 2013, however, for Office 365 SharePoint Online 2013 which keeps updating all the times, there may
be some compatibility issues during the process.
As this issue is more relate to SharePoint Online, it would be more appropriate to open a thread in Office 365 forum, you will get more help and confirmed answers from there:

  • Word to Acrobat Pro X picture conversion problems

Why do some of the pictures I convert from MSWord to Acrobat Pro X display on the new pdf doc as a black square? I have tried adjusting the contrast and brightness on the original as well as the text wrapping. On some images adjusting the contrast corrects the problem and on some it doesn't - even when they are on the same page.

It is possible that an update, patch, etc. that you have for MS Word is causing the problem.  I vaguely remember a similar issue before I switched over to Word 2010.  A fabulous change to 2010 is that you can "save as" a .pdf file now and no longer have to worry about converting or printing!

  • Photos in iPhoto from my photostream are showing up as black images (not pictures).

I have been experiencing issues with my iPhoto in the past few weeks and photostream. My photostream on my phone has all of my photos intact, however, on my macbook pro about 90% of the photos in my photostream show up as black images/boxes. Included below is a picture of what my "photos" from my photostream look like on my computer. I have also experienced issues with iPhoto running very slowly/almost being unresponsive. I have iPhoto v9.3 and OS 10.7.4. Any help is appreciated!

If I click on one of the black boxes it opens a larger view of the box as if it is a photo and gives you all of the editing options that are usually displayed. I've included a screenshot of how this appears in case the visual explanation is clearer than my verbal one. If you look at the bottom of it too you will notice that there are maybe three or four photos along the bottom reel that are intact but the rest are black boxes. I have also included another screen shot of my photo stream that shows these black boxes with a normal photo.

  • How to view images from Pictures Folder using iPhoto?

Right now when I click an image in the Pictures folder, the image is automatically opened using Preview. I want to view images directly from my Pictures folder, and have them open to iPhoto. Is that possible?
I just want to be able to view/sort my photos by Folders rather than by Events, Titles or Photo dates. I can't seem to get them to sort by folders in iPhoto.

Iphoto is a Photo Database designed to allow you to organise and manipulate you photos without recourse to your files.
It's not an image viewer, it can only work with photos that have been imported to the database.
I just want to be able to view/sort my photos by Folders rather than by Events,
An Event is a folder of images with a fancy icon. You can organize your pics in iPhoto anyway you want, using Albums, folders, keywords and so on. It's far more flexible that using folders in the Finder.
You can opt to organise the files yourself, rather than have iPhoto do it for you, but I don't recommend it.
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • IPhone to image capture picture orientation problem.

I am having a problem with my iPhone 3G (2.2.1) and pictures. I've seen several other topics about this but none of them address or fix the problem for me (since most of them are from people using other applications like Picasa or iPhoto). Opening up every picture in an image editor and rotating it before syncing back to my iphone is NOT a solution. It's a bandaid.
    Here is the problem.
Take a picture with iPhone. Connect to Mac. Image Capture app launches and I "Download All" to Pictures folder in Home folder. Images are deleted from the iPhone and moved into the Pictures folder. Opening an image from the Pictures folder opens them in the correct orientation in Preview.
iTunes is set to import all pictures from the Pictures folder. Sync iPhone. Images are uploaded to the photo library and all of them are rotated 90 degrees CCW. Turning the phone causes the images to rotate automatically to retain "correct orientation" which is still wrong.
Uploading an image from the phone (to Facebook for example) from the Photo Library results in a rotated image on the server.
None of the suggestions I've seen so far are a "solution". I don't want to open every image I take in iPhoto and rotate it before I sync it back to my Photo Library.
My question is how do I fix this, or prevent it from happening? Alternatively, is this a recognized bug that Apple intends to fix?

This is a useful method to minimize the problem, but it is still not a solution. It is unacceptable that I should have to resort to an extra step using a third party application to get my pictures onto my device, especially considering this problem didn't previously exist.
I am using all Apple tools (iPhone, iMac, image capture, iTunes) because I want to maintain the integrity of the process.
I know this problem is related to EXIF information in the image resulting in an unwanted rotation. IF I open an image in another program, I can clearly see that the image dimensions are listed at 1200x1600 (portrait). Either image capture or iTunes is modifying or removing these values before the image is optimized and added to the Photo Library on the phone, resulting in an orientation mismatch.
I guess I'm going to have to call Apple.
