Image to show when drop down menu is visible

Hi all,
Just a CSS problem I can't work out. The horz menu has drop down sub menu and I'm trying to get a arrow image to show when you hover over the main mene items, please see image.

It's often easier to use an HTML symbol for arrows instead of images:

TS3276 the images (attachments) are automatically resized (smaller) when I send them to a customer. My email screen does not show a drop down menu box where you can leave as actual size. Is there a setting elsewhere that can be set.

Any suggestions on problem I have. I receive images, say a file that is 3 mgs through email on Safari mail and when I try to resend it or forward it or any other larger file, when it sends the file is reduced by about 1/3. My screen does not show and drop down menu with a feature to keep actual size or reduce that is suggested when I looked up solutions to the problem. I can't find a setting anywhere in mail that I can change to make sure my files are kept at actual size. I figure a setting got changed -don't know how - but it happened about a month ago. Caused problems as I work in graphics can't send files to clients as they come out too small. Any suggestions on how to fix.

Adobe Premier Pro cs4: Maximum render quality not showing in drop down menu in Export screen

I have been trying to export a movie with settings i previously used but for some reason the Maximum render quality option that comes from the drop down menu next to video audio filter multiplexer etc is not showing up.. will someone plz tell me how to fix this...

Maximum render quality was introduced in an update for Premiere Pro CS4. Choose Help -> Check for Updates.

Hello, Scott. Please don't shout. Quit PSE, then go to your hard drive>library>application support>adobe>Photoshop Elements>6.0>locale>en_US (this will be different if you aren't in the US) and delete mediaDatabase.db3.
Repair permissions and relaunch PSE. Give it time to rebuild the palettes before you start using the program.
Also, note that you have 3 library folders. You want the one at the top level of your hard drive, not system>library or your username>library.

IPhone drop down menu not showing in iTunes

whenever i connect my iphone to itunes it no longer shows the drop down menu anymore (music, movies, tones etc..) under my iphone on the left side of the screen, i have to click that little arrow, i prefer for it to be just there when i connect it. does anyone know how to fix this? thank you

Same issue. It just says iPhone with no options below it. When I drag content to it, the menu appears and disappears quickly but I can't click on any of the options.

Why is the "Custom" option grayed out in the Image Trace drop down menu?

I'm going crazy here. On two different versions of Illustrator (CS6 on Windows 7 and CC on Windows 8.1) I'm trying to customize the options on an image trace from the drop down menu. On both versions I can't click Custon and when I tried to use the presets it just completes the action and doesn't allow for tweaks.
I've used three different file formats (PNG, JPEG, TIFF) and tried embedding and copying and pasting with no luck. In past versions this was never a problem. What is going on here?

Just select the Image trace panel from the window menu and then customize it.

Missing Alias/account drop down menu when composing?

This morning, when using MAIL, the drop-down menu to choose which alias to send an email from seems to be gone. My alias's are all still properly set up and the options is there when using webmail.
I've tried the "customize" section when composing mail (which sets the fleilds shown like "to" "reply to" "BCC", etc) and it's not an option in there either.
I haven't changed any account settings or prefs in Mail in months, and have tried swapping an older plist file in place in case that had something to do with it.
Anyone else having a similar problem? Better yet, anyone have a fix?

Hi. I've got quite the same problem with regular accounts. I've got an IMAP and a POP account and i'm stuck trying to send an email to google groups with my pop-account because mail automaticly uses my imap-account. the google groups of course denies my post since my imap-account is not allowed to post there. In Thunderbird (i just migrated from linux) it automaticly used the account in which the mail arrived to send from and showed a drop down menu just in case. but mail uses my imap account and i see no way to change that behavior (that option with "send from last used account" (i don't know how exactly it translates from german/don't know how it's called in english mail) is active.)

Hi all.
I've spent a fair amount of time perusing the archives, so I don't have to bother you all with the basic questions. Great thanks to Wyodor, Old Toad, Ethmoid and Cyclosaurus for their excellent and oft-repeated tutorials.
With your help, I've figured out how to set up a personal domain name, modify my background image, and create a drop-down menu. (These were major accomplishments for a neophyte like me.) My primitive template can be seen here:

And I am pretty happy with it. I have one problem, and one minor element that I'd like to fix.
The drop-down menu was created following the excellent tutorial from the iWebfaq but I notice that although it looks perfect there is one malfunction. If you hover and try to select an element where there is no underlying content, it works fine. When you try to select a list item with underlying content, however, the drop-down disappears. Any idea why that happens or how I can fix it? I suppose I could just add a space buffer, but that is an inelegant solution.
On a more trivial note, the background was actually supposed to be composed of two images. The top row was supposed to be a horizontal set of tiles (slightly darker in color) and the rest of the background was tiled in a second image, giving a gradient effect. I used the script Wyodor described here with repeat set to yes which gave me single-image tiling. Looks OK, but if I could get both sets of tiles used it would add substantial richness to the visual effect. Ideas?

I appreciate your reply but those arrows were not the ones I was trying to describe. In the same box where you would type your web address on the far right is a small star and then next to it an arrow pointing down. If you click on this arrow, it normally drops down a list of the websites you commonly use. Or, if you are on a website ordering something, there might be a similar arrow that you need to select in order to choose which shipping you might want such as ground, next day air, etc., these are the kinds of arrows that are not working correctly now. Any ideas on these? Thanks for trying to help me.

This is becoming incredibly frustrating. It happens at random time and a restart of the computer is all that helps, then with out any notice it starts to do this again. Mac Book Pro i7 2.2 16 GB 1333 Ram, (2) 450GB SSD both internal to machine. At this point I am losing file because I am unable to save in the file type I need. Does anyone out there know how to solve this issue?

I haven't been unify photoshop much in the past month, but I did try your suggestion and it seemed to work for a while. Today when i went to save a document the same thing happened: click on file>save at this point I can not click on save even though it is highlighted. Tryed to use command s that brings up the save dialogue box, but when I try to change file type I again cannot select it from the drop down menu.

I have a question about creating a Java Script withing Acrobat pro. This is what i would like to do: I created a drop-down menu with several selection entries. Upon the customer making one of the selection entries, i would like for the correct fields that i created to become visible and all other fields to hide. Is this even possible to do? The reasoning behind this is because we have a form that customers have to generate in order to request access to certain financial accounts; we have over 20 different types of accounts and for each instance the customer has to fill out the same form. By creating a drop down menu, i can use the same form by just changing the drop-down selection and clicking on the designated fields for that selection. At this time i have over 20 different forms that poing to 20 different account requests and i would hate to send the form 20 different times to one person. The reason i can not add all fields desired for all accounts is due to the fact that the form would be filled with hundreds of checkmarks and instructions thus making the process too tideous for the customer. Hope you guys can help out.

The good news is, it can be done (and it has been done).
There are a few things to be aware of, however.
The most important is that the form must be planned well, which means that you must think carefully about your logic and even more so about your field naming (hierarchical field names are your friend). One fundamental issue, you have to be aware of, is that this form no longer will be a "standard form". The consequence of this is that you may have to be aware that you might get into trouble when you have to prove that your user filled out that particular standard form (talk to your compliance and forms management people about that).
You also may have to decide whether the form should be usable in Reader. And, if so, how much you want to spend on the right to do so. You will see below why…
There are actually two approaches for dynamically showing/hiding parts of a form. If your form can be separated between a fixed first page (where you also have the account type selection), and a variable part (depending on the selection), you could use Templates, which you spawn according to the selection, and delete pages when you change the selection. This approach is very easy to implement, but requires Reader Extensions Server to allow it to work in Reader; Acrobat Pro's extended rights are not sufficient for that.
The other approach is showing/hiding fields. If you did your homework well, it would be very easy to first hide all subsequent fields, and then show the ones you need in two lines of code. This approach does not require extended rights for Reader at all, as long as your forms will always have the same number of pages, for each of your account types. This approach also works for the cases where the differences between the individual forms are very small. It does also work for showing/hiding bigger chunks of the form. In that case, you might create the "background" separately, and then put it as an icon into a button field which you will show/hide together with the carefully placed on top of it active fill-out fields.
There is a third possibility, which Adobe Propaganda probably would suggest, and that woudl be subforms in LiveCycle Designer. The consequence is, however, that you won't have PDF forms, but proprietary XFA forms instead. And you may have more developing and maintenance work than with the other approaches.
Back to your original question: you could use a Keystroke script evaluating event.changeEx of the combo box field. Depending on that, you would run your action to set up the according form part. The other way to do it would be evaluating event.value in the onBlur event. The latter would have the advantage that the selection has been made, and you get a bit more time to set up the form (this may in fact be an issue, particularly with Acrobat 9 and 10, which may take their time to show/hide fields).
Another possibility instead of a drop down (combo box field) would be a popup, where you would have a button to press, and the list of selections pops up. This second method uses app.popUpMenuEx().

My folders aren't showing up in my bookmark list or the drop down menu when I bookmark a site. Please advise!

I just created a bunch of folders to organize my bookmarks. When I try to bookmark a page and put it in the appropriate folder, none of my folders appear in the drop-down menu. Thanks for any advice you can provide. ~cayugakate

Turns out they were showing up, just all the way at the bottom of my list of bookmarks. I just couldn't see them. If you go to "Bookmarks"->"Organize Bookmarks" and then play around in there with highlighting on "Bookmarks Menu" you should be able to figure it out. Otherwise you just have to move them up to the top individually. Hope that helps! ~Kate

I use QVC online a lot. When hovering over a catagory headings at the top of the page, a drop down menu shows a list of subcategories. Is this feature available in Firefox 4 & 5? If so, how do I turn it on?

Have you tried CSS position:fixed? I have been playign around with it on my own project (and in fact are just about to post a related question) and can confirm that it works with a plain old DIV.
SVG I can't be sure though..

How do I delete other email addresses from showing up in the drop down menu (on ie. Facebook) when I'm logging in?

There are other people who have logged into facebook from my laptop so their emails still appear on the drop down menu when I type the first letter of the email. I would like to clear all the emails that appear. Please advise.

Drop down menu with image swap

I have a drop down menu that I need some help with. The page is here: http://www.healthquestpt.com/lwh/
The default menu as you see it is the way I want it: gray tab background, white text that is centered on the image. What I want to make happen with it is when you mouseover the link to have the image swap from: to: and I want the text in this "tab" to remain centered and change to blue
For the dropped down links I just want a plain white background, the links to be aligned left and the default color to be blue. I want the text hover color to be gray.
Ive tried various things and I cant seem to figure how to get style attributes assigned correctly.
All help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

You might want to try out the Spry menus which ship with Dreamweaver.
Below is the code for the menu BUT you'll have to make sure the SpryMenuBar.js file is in your site folder for the sub-menus to work.
Best way of doing that is to open a blank page. Go to Insert>Spry>Spry Menu Bar>Horizontal>save page which will create a folder named SpryAssets into your site folder. Open up the SpryAssets folder and delete the file - SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css
Copy and save code below into a new Dreamweaver document and save it to your side folder. Run it via a browser.

How do I link this drop down menu created in Fireworks when I export to dreamweaver, Help!

Thank you in advance for dealing with my inexperience and answering my question.
I have been stuck on this for wayyyy too long. Here is my problem. I created a drop down menu for a portfolio website I am building. When I pull this into Dreamweaver the way to link the menu items to the pages is elusive. I have no idea what to do. Please help?

Thank you for answering my question. I created the graphics in photoshop, sliced them in fireworks and now I am pulling the site in dreamweaver to link it. The dropdown is just a little dropdown menu. I created it in Fireworks because when I tried to create one in Dreamweaver I had to use a spry which was even harder to figure out and get to work. If I knew Html or CSS my life would be much easier but I don't. I don't have much time to learn it right now since I work over time all week, do graphics freelance and I go to school for computer science. I need to get this site up and I just want a fast little fix to get it up. When I have time to learn more I can make this site better or start a better site, but for right now it just needs to work. Is there a way to get what I have working so I can just get this site up. Later I will have more time and more experience to do this better. I am learning so thank you for your experience.
