Imageready cs2 to photoshop cs3 file conversion

hello;
when opening a Imageready file with rollovers in Photoshop CS3 you only get the "normal state"
anybody knows of an app or plugin that would convert all old rollover states in a way PS CS3 understands?
thanks
Alex

"Will there ever" is a loaded question Apple rarely comments on future product releases, and anyone that would know wouldn't be able to comment.
So it's not possible to say if future dodge & burn (or other plugins) can work without rendering a TIFF file.
As far as "multiple file formats" though -- it shouldn't really be something you need to worry about (other than the fact that the TIFF takes up some disk space). You can export to JPEG from the original or the version, and Aperture will track the files together.

My biggest 'pain' at the moment is that every time I go to change then save a Photoshop CS3 file it says 'cannot save as the file as it has been left open or is in use by another application'

Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Trying to edit text in Photoshop CS3 file causes a crash - Tried on multiple PC's
File originally created in Photoshop CS6 with "Maximise PSD/PSB File Compatibility" set at "Always".
Document size A4, using Arial Regular. RGB. 8Bits. 72dpi
    Colour Profile: sRGB IEC61966
Multi business licence for CS3 and CS6 Design Standard/Premium/Master Collection all on PC
    Please Help!

Interestingly I have found that if I modify a document in CS6 from an earlier CS3-CS5 document and save it - it works fine. But if I create a new document in CS6 the issue persists.
Looks like I will be modifying old documents for the time being
Would be grateful for some advise eon this.

  • Fireworks CS3 Not Displaying Photoshop CS3 file Exactly

Ok, so I was down to start using Fireworks to do my image
optimization, in fact I was somewhat excited. I heard that
Fireworks CS3 was supposed to load in PSD's seamlessly, support the
layer styles, and all that good stuff.
Well mine doesn't. It does not support clipping layer masks
at all. The opacity and look of my layer styles do not match from
    how they look in Photoshop.
Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong? Am I going to
have to completely change my workflow? Or am I going to have to
    stick with using ImageReady CS2?
    Any help is appreciated.

I have to say that Adobe has done a lot better in CS3
regarding Fireworks compatibility. Adobe used to be downright
hostile to Fireworks users, and now that's not the case, but they
have a LONG way to go before they can claim seemless integration.
There is still a problem with layer blending in Photoshop
translating to Fireworks. When it comes in, it doesn't always
match. The color spaces don't match, either.
Masking is another issue, but I never do my masking in
anything but Fireworks, anymore (for web graphics), because
Fireworks has so many approaches to masking. In Fireworks, you can
draw vector masks (same as creating a path in Photoshop), place an
object inside of a vector (which includes a vector with a gradient,
to create a gradient mask), group layers together as masks, or
paint a bitmap mask on a layer (same as photoshop).
Fireworks is not the same thing as Photoshop. It's become the
best of many web production tools, in my opinion, a best of app
combining Photoshop, Illustrator and Freehand. To become a power
user and truly understand what the diehards are so excited about,
you really need to learn it from the ground up. If you try to
translate what you know from any other program to Fireworks, that
will reduce the real power of the program. You'll need to rethink
how you do pretty much everything, but it really is worth
    it.

  • Exporting from Aperture to Photoshop CS3- file format

If I have my files in raw CR2 format in Aperture 2.1 and I then go to the edit the image in photoshop CS3 will it remain in the raw CR2 format or does it convert it to a tiff file automatically?
Currently I have PS CS2 and it converts to a tiff file when I go edit in photoshop however I thought this may be beacuse PS CS2 does not support raw files from my Canon 40D, PS CS3 does though.
Incidently the same thing happens when I use the dodge and burn tool in Aperture 2, it conversts to Tiff format.

"Will there ever" is a loaded question Apple rarely comments on future product releases, and anyone that would know wouldn't be able to comment.
So it's not possible to say if future dodge & burn (or other plugins) can work without rendering a TIFF file.

  • Trouble saving Photoshop CS3 files to server

I've recently upgraded to Leopard v. 10.5.2, and now I'm having trouble saving any sort of file through Photoshop CS3 to my company's server. Even after opening the file from the server, when I try to save it, I get an error message saying I do not have the privileges to save the file. And I've saved the file to my desktop, and tried dragging it to the server folder, and I get a slightly different message, but with the same problem.
I can save jpegs that weren't created with Photoshop, but not vice versa. My other CS3 programs save files like normal. It's just Photoshop.
One way I've found to get around the problem is to email the file to myself, and then transfer them to the server. But this is an annoyance. Thanks for any help.

I would like to know how Adobe can make their uses download the OS X 10.5.3 update without sorting out the photoshop bug. Why should we not be able to save our files directly onto reliable servers. You would think that by now the concept of saving a file to a network disk would have been solved. Saving directly on servers worked flawlessly for me - why not now? I have never had this problem before until this OS X 10.5.3 update. This is appalling as designers save their photoshop files onto a server so that other designers may access their files. Yeah I will now work locally and transfer the files across. Last night I realised that I could not open many files that I had worked on during the weekend - I have lost hours of work and am feeling pretty devastated. How can Adobe not even warn their customers about this problem!!!! Don't fob your customers off. This is HUGE BUG - I've paid for my software so fix it!
I wonder how many designers have this problem and don't even know. Abode should be letting their customers know about this BUG before they have to find out themselves after having lost irreplaceable work.

  • Q: Error message when printing Photoshop CS3 file

I get an error message when I try printing a CS3 photo on my Epson C86 printer, and the resulting print has the wrong colors and luminance levels.
Error Message = "Some PostScript specific print settings (Interpolation, Calibration, Encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non-PostScript printer."
Any ideas for how to work through this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Chris -
    Thanks for your quick response.
Do I understand you correctly in saying that Photoshop CS3 has PostScript information that it routinely sends to a printer, and therefore I would need to have a PostScript compatible printer inorder to work with this information (and also for my ColorMunki calibration to work)?
Based upon what you said, I think my color problems are because the ColorMunki profile for my printer, paper, & ink combination are being ignored.

  • Photoshop CS3 - files are locked to 1 user after editing

    Hi there,
    Our setup is the following:
6 Mac OS X 10.5.8 clients with Adobe CS3. The images reside on a shred folder hosted on Mac OS X 10.5 Server. SC3 users are in an ACL group that has read/write permissions to all the shared files.
The issue we have is the following: One user opens an image and edits it in Photoshop, then saves changes and closes  it. All other users who subsequently try to edit the file get the message "The file is locked. Use "get info" command in finder to unlock it".  When you use the "get info" command as suggested -  the "locked" tick box is greyed out and it says "you have read and write access to this file" - but you do not. The user who originally edited the file does not experience this issue, but everybody else does.
I first though it was an Mac permissions issue. So I tested by putting text documents in the abovementioned shared folder and then editing them as different users - no problems there, so it seems this issue is related to Photoshop.
Any advice on this problem would be appreciated. Also has anyone experienced the similar issue with CS5? As we are thinking about upgrading.
    Many thanks in advance

This is the boilerplate text often used in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files. Working across a network is not supported.
    See:

Copy the CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work.   It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Photoshop CS3 File File Info   ( Bug & Solution )

I've faced a problem with rasterized EPS files form an Illustrator when I've tryied to add some meta data to the file info (keywords, descritpion, etc.) and I discovered that form time to time I can't paste any word to keywords and description from a clipboard using a cmd+V keystroke (I've text files with alll data required saved in separated text files) so I've tryied to restart Photoshop, turn off all software apart from Photoshop, computer restart, but it still happend from time to time.
Yesterday I did realize that the problem are with a CAPS LOOK, so if the CPAS LOOK are ON ctrl+V in Photoshop would't work. So turn off CAPS LOOK and then everything will back to normal.
    Best Regards

I don’t have CS3 installed anymore and, like I said, it is not my field of expertise but being able to keyword multiple files in one go alone sounds like an advantage.

  • Damaged PSD photoshop CS3 file?

    Hey!
While working on a tileset for 2KH, Vista display drivers started behaving strange (black screen for a second, then screen comes back with a recovery message )
I successfully saved my work, right before a complete system crash, but once I restarted Vista, and tried opening my work to continue, Photoshop gave me a warning about some data being corrupted and opened my file as a black, one layer document  I tried several times with no success so far
Usually, i'm quite good at versioning and archiving tilesets, but ironicly, I've been working close to 2 months on that single file, without archiving it ( it's a 100+ tiles on a single PSD ) so i'm really depressed about loosing all that work
I tried several PSD repairs softwares available on the web with no success : I was wondering if any of you guys knew a way to save a PSD with corrputed data ?

Search for large (hidden) temp files created whilst you were working on it last.
I seem to remember multiple photoshop crashes used to leave loads of those and they needed removing manually.
I've no idea if this works in vista. In XP, they'll be in a temp directory somewhere in the widows folder. Large files called something like Photoshop Temp42208083 .....you could try file recovery on those.
    And try:

  • Disappearing Photoshop CS3 Files

A week ago, a user was working on a file in Photoshop and the file literally disappeared. No trace of it in Spotlight, yet it was there in "Open Recent", but still not found. Now, three more users have the same issue. They know they saved their files, and when they went to come back for it, it was not there.
Just to see what was happening, I created a file, saved it as test_file.psd. It saved - yee-hah. After modifying it once more, I wanted to save it again, overwriting the original file, but did not let me. Here's the funny part - I had to "Save As", which is fine, but when I went to look for the original file, it was NOT there!
These files are literally disappearing. Here's the set up: Mac OS10.4.11 client, network accounts to an Xserve 10.4.9 server. This problem has just started happening within the week.
ANY suggestions are appreciated, and thanks in advance!

  • Can not import PhotoShop CS3 files into Illustrator CS3

Worked just fine yesterday. I can place a JPG. I typically just drag a PSD into Illustrator. I now get an error message sayng it can not read the file. I have tried placing the file and nothing happens (no messages or warnings).
I tried saving the PSD as a TIF, but no luck here either.
I have tried opening a new file and dragging various PSD files in. It seems that none of the work any longer.
    And yes I've rebooted.

I have the exact same problem. I haven't placed PSD files into Illustrator for quite a while, but I just tried it this morning and it doesn't work (just like the OP). I even opened a file about a year old, which used to work just fine, but now the PSD file doesn't appear and I can't re-import it. So it has to be some issue recently introduced.
@Galumph - I have Vista x64 and 8GB of RAM. Is there a specific issue that applies to this particular combo?

  • Save CS3 File to CS2

    Hi,
How you save a Photoshop CS3 file so that someone on the other end can open it using CS2?
    Thanks
    Kit

    Just save it.
It shouldn't matter too much between CS3 and CS2 although Smart objects won't show as smart objects as CS2 had none. Always save with maximum compatibility.

This sounds like a server issue, and how it interfaces with that Mac. Do you have this issue with sifting through files stored locally on that machine?
