Images are not all represented in PDF

Hi, I hope my English is good enough!
I use InDesign CS5 and have in my project a double page with lots of pictures. Among the images is a background image. I have the following problem. When I create a PDF of this spread, either the export or print, are in the PDF, not all images shown. Some images have a white narrow border. Once the PDF is printed, however, the white border has disappeared, probably a representation problem. However, the missing frames are still missing. Opt for the export settings "PDF/X-1a: 2001", which will see all pictures. Can someone explain to me?
Thank you in advance.
Greetings Torsten

You absolutely don't want to use the smallest file size preset for printing.
I would recommend either the Press Quality (which converts colors to CMYK), the High Quality Print (which does not convert colors, but does not embed profiles) or best of all, if the printer can handle it, PDF/X-4 which leaves colors unchanged and embeds the profiles for conversion in the Printer's RIP.
My suspicion is the white lines you mention are a transparency flattening artifact known as "stitching." Using Acrobat 5 or higher compatibilty, which all of the presets mentioned above do, will leave the transparency live in the PDF for falttening in the RIP. I would not use the PDF/X-1a standard unless the printer tells you that he cannot work with live transparency. Stitching is usually only a problem on screen or in digital prints and generally does not show in press output.

  • Main Nav Images are not all on same line

    I have several issues going on with this page, but I am going to break it down into several seperate queries...so don't worry over the other issues. I know it can get confusing.
    Query 2 of 3
    My main nav images should all be on one line. All of my CSS reflects 900px. All the main nav buttons equal 900px. Yet, there seems to be space in between them though there is no padding. Please see if you can find where I have missed the boat on this one.
    Here is the page link.
    Thank you!!

  • Dimmed images are not dimmed after saved as PDF.. please help!

    Hi,
    After dimming multiple images in AI, they are dimmed in the program but once i preview the pdf I saved of the .ai file, the images are not dimmed.  What am i missing?
    Thanks!

    Dim is an Illustrator  layer options attribute, that does not tranfer over to the .pdf. You will have to either group all in the layer and set transparency to you dim percentage, or draw a white rectangle and fill that with a percentage of white.

    If that only happens on a specific page or domain then make sure that you do not block images on that domain.
    See [[Images or animations do not show]]
    *A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (<i>Site Identification</i> icon) on the left side of the location bar.
    *A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    *Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of that "Tools > Page Info" window.
    *Select the first image link and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
    *If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
    *You can see the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions
    *You can see all image exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions

    To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
    Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
    But however you do choose to link the two machines...
    Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
    and select the Library that you moved.  That's it.
    This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
    Your first option didn't work because you imported one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.
    Your second option didn't work because you simply referenced her library on the old machine.

    I have about 5,000 images in a Folder.  How can I determine which images are NOT in a Collection?

    Create a smart collection with criteria "collection" and "does not contain"; and also with criterion Folder contains (or folder contains all)
    That works if you are thinking about a specific named collection.
    If you are interested in finding photos that are not in ANY collection, the usual trick is "collection" "does not contain" "a e i o u y"

  • Images are not showing up

    My presentation is like a slideshow and the images are all
    loaded in my library and draged and drop onto the stage, which they
    all can be viewed just fine. All are jpeg and relatively the same
    file size, nothing really differant about them, but when I preview
    or publish the presentation, 3-4 images are not visible. A couple
    of them just don't show up but one image disappears when I go to
    another frame and come back to it. Example: I view image01, its
    veiwed fine, I go to image02 and its fine, I go to image03 its
    fine, I go back to image02 and it doesn't show up!
    I don't understand why its happening since there is no
    actionscript on the image or anything else done to it that I can
    see. Its just an image. Anybody else had this problem and know what
    I shoud do?

    Hello? Can anybody help me?

  • Custom Image(URL) not showing up in PDF

    Hi,
    We have created a standard webi-report where a company logo is part of the report header.
    We would like to keep the company logo in a database, so we've creáted a simple webapp to retrieve the image from an Oracle database. When we insert the logo into our report we just use the following link as the Image(URL): http://<Servername>/plsqlapp/docs/Company.JPG
    The logo now shows up as expected in the report as long as we view the report through InfoView. However, when we export the report as a PDF document, the logo will vanish.
    If we use boimg://Company.jpg as the Image(URL) instead, it works OK even when exported to a PDF document.
    We would however prefer to keep our images used in reports in a database.

  • Sometimes, some images are not shown...

    Hi!
    Out applet shows (or loads?) all images correctly, but sometimes, one or more images are not shown (or loaded?). What can it be?

    I am having a similar problem so maybe someone can help me too.
    I find that my images load correctly most of the time, but once in a while (say 1 in 4 attempts), some of them dont load. The reliability of this is much better now that I have moved the images out of the jar, but its still not right
    I also find that sometimes the classes do not load. I get classdef.not.found for a file that really should be there. I can see that the jar containing it has been downloaded to the temp dir. I have been clearing my cache out manually for now between every attempt.
    I am not sure what code to show. I dont think its necessarily a problem with images since classes dont always load either, but here is the code for loading images anyway.
            MediaTracker tracker = new MediaTracker(applet);
            for (int i = 0; i < img.length; i++) {
              img[i] = applet.getImage(urlCodeBase, imagePath + images);
    tracker.addImage(img[i], i);
    tracker.waitForID(i);
    if (tracker.isErrorAny()) {
    System.err.println("Error loading image " + images[i]);
    My web content is being delivered by 3rd party hardware which might be rather slow - its hard to tell. My entire web content is approx 200KB. Results are the same using IE or Mozilla.
    Any ideas would be a great help!

  • Images are not shown after deploying in apps

    After deploying my application in apps i have put all my images in media folder even then the images are not displaying, can any tell me what is the reason for this, but when i have deployed before it was working fine...

    when the page is displayed without the image, right click on the image place holder and click on properties. Under General tab,
    address will show you the place/url page is looking for the image. Make sure you have put the image on that path and the name of image mathes the case as well.

  • Why aren't my FW (PNG) image are not showing up

    Hey guys.
    This is really bugging the hell out of me. I feel like I
    can't move on until i can figure out why my PNG images are not
    showing up in preview (F12). They did yesterday before I deleted
    some pages and renamed old pages I no longer needed.
    All my images that was done in FW are in my root folder in
    the file panel. i didn't move any of those. When I double click on
    the image to bring up the "select image source" in the URL it
    starts off with two periods then a slash and then the name of where
    it's located as well as the name of the image. The "relative to":
    is site root. i didn't change any of these setting before I deleted
    and renamed pages in my file panel.
    Oh, and my Ap Divs show up in light gray boxes.
    Please help!
