Images as sharepoints?

hello,
we have the problem, that our colleagues always put stuff on our xserve raid 1TB until it is almost full.
we searched for solutions to give specific groups a quota on the server, but there are no solutions, only for all users, but not for groups.
so one of our last ideas would be to use disk images. with disk images I can make for every group a seperat disk image and they can't pull more stuff on the server as the space of the disk images would allow.
my question is now:
- could it be a problem, if a disk-image is e.g. 300GB big?
- has anyone experience with disk images as sharepoints?
I know, there is a risk with disk images - if only a bit of the disk image file is corrupt, there is no chance to mount the image again. because of this we would backup the content of the disk images, not the disk image files.

The proper way to do this is to have one disk or partition for the system, with some space to breathe and another disk/raid/partition for the data.
You then use simple folders that you enable as sharepoints. Dynamically uses space on the data drive as it is needed and cannot block the system because it is entirely seperated.
I suggest at least 20GB for the system partition. Especially if you intend to run Software Update Server which will hog quite some space on the system drive unless you relocate it somewhere else.

Please do the following to complete this task.
1) Insert the picture library as list view webpart in your page.
2)Specify the column titled Thumbnail Preview in the list view.
3) Edit the webpart and set the Toolbar Type to Summary Toolbar.

Including image in SharePoint survey answer and hiding elements only work on the first page

Hi All,
I would like to add some text/remove some text etc on a sharepoint survey page.
Which i have done using jquery/jscript.
But unfortunately it only works on the first page.
Any ideas how i can get it to work on all the pages?

Hi Patrick, does the first page use the same ASPX file as the other pages? If not, you will need to add your jquery/jscript to the other page as well.

Background image in Sharepoint 2013 is blurry

Hi guys I need your help. Firstly I am a newbie at SharePoint 2013. I recently changed the theme of our site and change the look of our site. I selected the nature theme and changed the background image of the theme. Upon changing it, I noticed that the
image that I uploaded was blurry / grainy / pixelated. It was a high resolution .jpg file so it shouldn't be grainy.

Hi Rambautista (and maybe others with the same problem),
in order to avoid the automatic downsizing of the image by SharePoint you just need to change the existing CSS file or create a new one. I chose the second and did the following:
First of all you need to adjust the settings on your SharePoint page. For that, go to Site Settings and enable both
SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure in 'Site Collection Features' and
SharePoint Server Publishing in 'Manage site features'.
Once you did that, head to Site Assets on your SharePoint page and click on 'Library'. At the column 'Connect & Export' you can find the option "Open with Explorer". By clicking that button you open the Side Asset Folder and there you create
a new CSS file (for example with Notepad). In that file you now write:
.ms-backgroundImage{
background-image:url(" <insert the link of the image you want as background, it should be listed in
Sharepoint Site Asset> ");
Finally you insert the alternate CSS url in 'Site Settings' - 'Master Page' - 'Alternate CSS url' by clicking
Specify a CSS file to be used by this site and all sites that inherit from it and browsing to your new CSS file in Site Assets.
This should solve the problem as from now on you have your own uploaded picture as the source of the background image and not the downsized copy. (Of course you should nonetheless use a image size appropriate for the site.)

Opening images in SharePoint modal dialogue box

Hello Friends,
I have a world map and upon clicking each continent should open its respective continent information which is a stored in wiki pages.
I am using the SharePoint designer to create hot spots and then open the wiki pages of respective continents in same tab or another tab or another window. But my requirement is to open them in SharePoint dialog box.
Is it possible to do that and how?

Background Image in SharePoint 2013

Hi,
Whenever I add a background image in SharePoint 2013, approx. 99% of the background image has an automatic overlay applied; some form of automatic transparency, so that the image is more like a watermark.
Oddly, at the bottom of the page, there is about 40px visible of the true image, with no overlay applied.
How can I remove this default transparency, so that the background image displays as it should?

If you have SharePoint designer 2013, Then go To >> All Files >> _themes >> Search there for COREV15."blablabla" i think you got 2 files named COREV15 but try to search in one of these items to body {} or try to do "crtl + f" and
find "background colour" or search on "transparent"

i have a share point custom list with the following columns and its types.

FirstName--------------->Single line of test
LastName--------------->Single line of test
Description--------------->multiple line of test
Link--------------->Hyperlink or Picture
Image--------------->Hyperlink or Picture
I've to create a visual web part with the following input fields and which can insert following items in the above list columns
Title asp textbox
First Name asp textbox
Last Name asp textbox
Description asp textbox
Link asp textbox
Image file upload control
Submit asp button
when i click browse button for image control in above web part it browses image .jpg,jpeg or .png file from my computer into image input field above and when i click submit button it must be submitted in the Image column in the above list.
i want to know how can i do that in c# pragmatically.
i've another visual web part which should read the image from the list in Image column and display it in image control on the web part.
like this

Hello,
You can't directly add picture into "Hyperlink or Picture" column because this column takes URL value and image is binary etc. You can first upload that picture into picture library (create new picture or document library) then add that image link
into that column.
To add/edit "Hyperlink or Picture" column, SP provided special class called "SPFieldUrl". Wheer you need to pass URL and description as parameter.

If you want to add images to multiple questions using the code at that link do something like:

Also, if you would like to add a picture, text or formatting to every survey page in a survey with page breaks you will typically need to edit both the NewForm.aspx and EditForm.aspx pages using SharePoint Designer or by adding a Content Editor Web
Part to both pages.

Images of SharePoint site is not getting rendered after migration

We did migration of sharepoint 2007 site to different server to SharePoint 2010.
After migration site is functioning normally but not showing images on the pages, instead of image cross sign is appearing on the page.
Can someone please help. I have copied images of old server to new server in 14 hive Templates\Images folder.
I have checked properties of image, there Type,Size,Modified,Created these attributes value is "Not Available"
When I tried to open the image using URL on browser then Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. occuerd.
Please let me know what needs to check to resolve the same.

Even though site is restored on SharePoint 2010 still it gets rendered like MOSS look and feel.

I have a requirement in which we are required to have an Image of the whole SharePoint 2013 environment, (ideally single server installation/standalone as I believe multi-tier would not be possible, or if possible suggest on that also), with all the installations
done- SQL server, SharePoint , language pack if any, App configured, search, service applications, etc etc. so that if at all required we would have that image in a server and provide that image to the developer, he would either mount it or run it and start
the SharePoint 2013 App development.

Not for imaging purposes.
You could have an environment that is ready-to-go with the bits installed, but not configured. You would then have a post-imaging script that would configure the farm. In this process, you would also need to make sure SQL Server was aware of the server's

Failed to download chart or image in SharePoint 2010 excel services

Hi,
I have one document library in SharePoint 2010. I have uploaded one excel sheet which is having chart. Now when I am trying to open it in browser, but it is showing me below error on chart part of excel sheet.
'Failed to download chart or Image'
This is happening on prod server. I tried similar process on lower environment in SharePoint 2010. It is absolutely working fine. I checked all services, settings on both farm but doesn't find any clue.

What do you mean by lower environment? Does it mean the lower version of SharePoint server?
To solve this issue should try changing the "Maximum Chart Size" Excel Services Trusted Location setting.
By default it is 1MB, so if a chart is bigger than that, it won't render.

I did a test with your code in my environment and it works fine.
For a better troubleshooting, I suggest you debug your code step by step. You may need to check if file.ListItemAllFields.ID is valid.
If you want to get video Thumnail image, there is a column named Preview Image URL, the internal name of the field is AlternateThumbnailUrl.
You can get the field value using Sever Object Model like below.
String url = item[“AlternateThumbnailUrl”].ToString();
