Images become blurred when placed in a PSD document

I have a QCODE (barcode) which is a 2-bit pure black and white images.
However, when I place it in another open document, the image becomes blurred when it is placed and the definition of the QCODE is compromised.
How can I stop PS from blurring the image.
I'm guessing it is trying to smooth out the placed image, but i don't want this.
Many thanks.

but i don't want this.
Place it pixel exact! Resampling means the image is placed at sub-pixel values. Aside from that you would also get softness if the image is not properly converted to the target color space and automatic conversion creates mix colors whose individual components blend differently with neighboring pixels, which in part is simply an artifact of on-screen simulation. In any case, you will only be able to get a proper barcode in CMYK/ Duotone/ Multichannel modes, where you can make sure it appears on the spot black ink separation so it does not get halftoned and loses its sharpness again. ideally it would even be native vector data...

My daughter's older Ipod Touch is having a problem with images becoming pixilated when taken from an e-mail and placed into her camera roll. ( She wants to put on Instagram ) Any help?

I think that may be a consequence of the email provider she is using. Some services (AOL is one example) inspect and modify email attachments, particularly photos, resulting in reduced resolution compared to the email that was sent.
The iPod does not do this. The resolution of the picture in the email she receives will be identical to what is imported.

  • Why does my high res photoshop image appear blurry when placed in InDesign and Exported as PDF?

    Hi there,
I have a problem I've been trying to solve for days but just can't find the answer anywhere on the internet.
I have a large, good quality photoshop file (2268 x 979 pixels, resolution 300 pixels per inch). When I place it into InDesign, the image appears OK (I've changed my display settings to HIGH) - I then resize it in InDesign to 10% and the file still looks great! Then, when I export it as PDF (high quality print) it looks blurry.
Does anybody know why? The strangest thing is, I've placed other photoshop images in the same InDesign file and they look crystal clear. It is just this one I am having trouble with. I've saved it in the same folder as the other pictures, I've tried placing it as psd. , jpg. , photoshop pdf, png. everything...
The image looks great in both photoshop and indesign, only when exported as pdf it looks awful.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
    Many thanks in advance!
    Weronika

It's probably the extreme reduction -- you're throwing away 90% of the image pixels and interpolating, and then using jpeg compression on top.

  • My PSD file is larger when placed in InDesign both documents are the same dimensions.

My 300dpi PSD file and InDesign CC file are the same dimensions (14.625 x 11)...
I have drawn guides in both files in the same place but when I place the PSD file the image appears larger and the guides do not align even though InDesign indicates that the PSD file is placed at 100%.

Did you double check that both the holding frame and the image are at 100%? It's possible to have a scaled frame with the image at 100% like this:

  • Image cut out when Placed InDesign

I don't quite know how to describe this, so I'm just going to include a screenshot. When placing an image in InDesign Creative Cloud (Only certain images, but all types of formats) the image gets cropped weirdly & pieces of it are missing. It looks like this particular one is cutout in the shape of the bag behind it, but it does it even when the image is merged (like with JPG) so I don't think the layers should be having an impact. When I view them in photoshop, they look whole, but when I place them, this happens. I've tried placing them as photoshop, JPG, PNG, GIF, etc. but it does it every time. Started last week after never having this problem before. Any idea what's going on? I tried updating, but that didn't help. So frustrated.

Do you have a clipping path applied to the image? Open the image in Photoshop and check the Paths panel. If you see a clipping path in there you can remove it. InDesign will apply clipping paths automatically when placing if they're properly created in Photoshop.

  • Images not centred when placed into InDesign CC 2014

    Hello,
Since updating to InDesign CC every time I place a new image into a doc it drops down within the containing box a by a few mm. Auto fit is not on and the problem happens when placing an image via cmd + d or dragging and dropping from bridge or finder. Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply. I ditched the InDesign Defaults pref but couldn't find the InDesign SavedData file. I have uninstalled and put a fresh copy back on to my mac, this seems to have resolved the problem. I guess this was a pref file some where, I just could locate it.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Why does a TIF image look blurry when placed in InDesign file?

    Hi all,
I've placed a logo in my InDesign file that I saved out of Photoshop. It appear blurry when in InDesign and I do have it set to high image quality display so that isn't the issue. It is also set as CMYK and I haven't resized it after saving from Photoshop.
I tried saving a jpg so it would be crisper but then I have a white box behind it when placed in the InDesign file.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to send it to print but can't let it go until I'm sure it won't print like a blurry mess.
    Thanks

Sub-pixel sampling. Read up on it. you are placing your images at odd values and it gets resampled. Can be anything from the image inside the frame, the image frame itself, some styling option in ID...

  • Why does scale change when placing snapshot from pdf document?

IDCS3: I cut a furniture detail from a pdf document with the "snapshot" tool. I place this image, which includes text, into an InD document. The scale is huge! I do not know how much to reduce to get it to the exact same scale as it was in the pdf. In addition, the quality diminishes when placed in InD. The document size of the pdf document is A4 - that of the InD document is A3. Thanks!

Why not place the original pdf (vector & raster, I assume) and crop to the area you'd like - retaining the vector & raster, rather than use a screen shot (raster).

  • Png/jpg images are becoming distorted when placing into Muse

    Hi,
I have a problem in Muse.
I've made a logo/text in illustrator, saved for web either as png or jpg and when I placed it in Muse it right away became distorted.
Sort of, like you're using a small image and enhance it to much.
Does someone know an easy way to solve this. I'm quite new with these programs, so I'm thinking maybe I'm doing something wrong?
    Best regards,
    Dennis

Can you supply screenshots of your image in Illustrator and then another image with it in Muse?
If you try resizing the image in Muse you can get distortion if you don't keep the same aspect ratio in the height and width. Always best to make sure your image is the correct size in height and width before adding it to Muse or any Web editing program.

  • Black image boundry lines when placing image in Illustrator

I am making a business card in Illustrator 6.
I placed an image of my black signature with transparent background on the white background business card, and now it is leaving a box were that signature image canvas ends. This happens with both a .psd and .pnd files.
Now if I could just go into photoshop and extend the canvas and leave the image the same size that would be great. When I try to do this though there is still the old canvas boundry line.
If I was able to start all over I would have had the original canvas size way wider than the image of my signature that I drew on it. That way it's boundries would now be outside of my business cards boundries and I would not be seeing those black boundry lines.
There must be a simple way of fixing this?

I tried that, but where the instructions say "File > Print, and under Output, choose Composite CMYK" I don't have that option. Otherwise I did the rest and it did not help.
I forgot to say that it only prints what is inside my signatures boundries/canvas dimensions and will not even print to the edge of the Illustrator file.
I would attach the image, but it is too large of a file and whatever other formats I try to save it at it will only save it to the boundries of my signature and not the Illustrator image, artboard or whatever you call it.

  • Captured image becomes blur

Hi, I am a new comer here.
Today I used my Panasonic DVCPro HD AG-HVX200 to record a stage show. I used tape to record it, did not use HD P2 card. The recording format is 480i/30p.
The I use FCP to capture the footage. When I viewed the footage, it turned out fine, but after they were captured, the image became so pixelled and blur.
It should be a pretty standard format, and I just use the standard NTSC to do the capturing work. First time to run into problem like this.
The problem comes from the original recording or the setup of Final Cut Pro?
    Looking forward to your advice.
    Dylan Drolkar

As Tom asks, but it's easy to determine if the recording is bad, just play it back onto a display that will show 480i/30p. Does it look good? it should. You must make some bizarre and deliberate choices to mess up a DV recording.
Most inquiries we see about bad captures or unexpectedly poor image are usually solved by viewing the playback on a proper display, changing the Canvas display, or changing the settings in the sequence to match the precisely the clip's properties.

  • FCPX: Inserted Images become Fuzzy when Played

Sometimes I have this problem (like now) and I don't know what causes.
I am creating a very short video with 14 images (faces). I just inserted an additional image between two existing images. It looks fine but when I play the video the inserted image turns fuzzy/blurred.
What causes this and how can I fix it?

    Does it need rendering?
Ensure Background rendering is turned on in the preferences and wait a few seconds for rendering to start.
Only play it when the render reaches 100%.
