Images Cut off in Premier Elements project

When I import a slide show into a Premier Elements project the images are cut off with only the bottom half of the images appearing.  Can anyone give me some guidance on this issue?

johner3
Are you importing the slideshow as a wmv file rather than using the Edit with Premiere Elements Editor Output option in the Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor?
Lots of information needed but I may have the answer in spite of all the questions.
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Is your slideshow coming from Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor? If so, how are you outputting it
a. Save to File Movie (wmv)
b. Burn to Disc
c. Edit with Premiere Elements Editor
There has been an epidemic of 1/2 wmv displays associated with a recent Windows Update kb. This may be at the core of your issue. Please see the Announcement at the top of this forum. For your convenience, it should look like:
Announcement: Windows Update Causes Display to Be Blacked Out
Hide Details
MicroSoft has issued an Update for Windows, that is causing problems with Displays. The following is from Talbot McInnis, who tracked down this problem, and offers a fix:
"MS bulliten MS13-057.  Specifically, on XP kb2834904 and on windows 7 kb2803821 is causing a problem
For us, it occurs when decoding WMV9 files.  Not all uses of WMV decoding are affected, but I confirmed that when connecting the WMV decode DLL to a sample grabber for RGB32 video, the frames arrive black on top, so that points directly to decoding internals of the WMV Decode dll.
You can uninstall these windows updates to resolve your problem."
There are several threads on the problem that this Update is causing on the PrE and PrPro Forums, so one can get more details. So far, there is not another fix from either MS, or Adobe.
Also, see this Adobe KB Article: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/wmv-files-corrupted-import-or.h tml
by Bill Hunt (Jul 12, 2013)
Please check out the Announcement details and delete the appropriate Windows Update kb if this applies to you.
There have been many, many threads on the topic, all with helpful advice which includes
a. for now, have the Windows Updates require your notification and approval for any downloading and installing of Windows Updates
and
b. if you catch the offending Windows Update kb in the Windows Updates Important Updates, right click it and select Hide. That is supposed to keep it away.
Please view and then let us know the outcome.
Thanks.

  • How do I move a Premier Elements Project to a new computer?

I want to move a Premier Elements Project to a different machine with more efficient RAM and SSDs. How do I move a Premier Elements Project to a new computer?

Welcome to the Premiere Elements Forum.
I constantly migrate my Premiere Projects between my laptop, and my workstation, but I set those Projects up, initially, with that in mind - which is different than having a Project set up on one computer, and then moving it to another. For my setup (remember, this is initially, when I start a Project), see these two articles:
Setting Up Project Folders & Sub-folders
Using External HDD's for Video Editing
For existing Projects, there are a couple of ways to address this. The method that you use, might depend on how you plan on moving the Project.
If you have an external HDD, and plan to use that to do the move, see the "Using External HDD's" article above, as it talks about drive letters in the OS. Getting that correct first, can save a lot of work later.
Then, one can use the Project Archiver to Copy the Project, and necessary files to that external. When one has done that, I strongly suggest that they test that "archived Project," to make sure that the Archiver has gathered everything necessary. The success of that process can depend on how one has set up their folders and sub-folders, and where their Assets (the material that has been Imported into the Project) is located. That is why I always urge one to test everything first. Then, just plug that external HDD into the new computer. At that point, they will have two options: edit to/from the external, or Copy everything to the new computer. For the former, see that "Using External HDD's" article, as there can be some limitations, such as both HDD speed and connection speed, that can impact how well things work.
Next, one could just Copy (over a a wired, or wireless network, or via an external HDD), the Project file (PREL), all Assets, and most of the Scratch Disk folders, to the new computer.
Note: there are files in the Media Cache, such as CFA's and PEK's for the Conformed Audio, that do not have to be Copied/Moved, as PrE will rebuild those (give the program time to do so, and do not edit the Project, until they ARE rebuilt). Same for the Render Files, as if those are needed, one can easily hit Enter/Return, to Render the Timeline, or part of it, again.
    Keep the folder structures.
If one gets the "Where is file _____ ?" message, this ARTICLE will be helpful.
Note that the PREL (Project) file is really an XML database. It contains NO MEDIA, but only absolute links to where that media was Imported from. See this ARTICLE for more background.
Good luck, and if you have any questions, or something above was not clear, please ask, before you make the move, as the answers might save you some time, and extra work.

  • Why does the menu get cut off even if the project is widesrcreen?

I made a widescreen project in iMovie, exported it to iDVD, and chose a widescreen theme. It looked fine on my computer but when I burned it and played it on my home DVD player, the words were cut off. I also noticed that when played on some TVs, my movie (although widescreen) played as full screen and therefore, cut off some of the footage. Does anyone know how to fix this?

HOW TO MAINTAIN 16:9 ASPECT FROM IMPORT TO BURN
This is the way I do it. There is no compulsion on you to do it my way, but this works (for me). I started this method before iMovie and iDVD were upgraded to 6.0.3, and because not all elements of the various iDVD themes (particularly the pre-iDVD 6 ones) are consistent in keeping to 16:9 throughout the process.
The widescreen preview works just fine when you check your finished project within iDVD. The problem only happens when you either burn a project or save it to an image.
A bug in iDVD 6, particularly when working with PAL, and which has been reported to Apple, is that the sub-menus in many of the themes (the chapter settings) default to 4:3 aspect, NTSC and mpeg 1, instead of the desired 16:9 in mpeg 2 in PAL. This may be partly a leftover from iDVD 5 or even a newer ‘feature’ of iDVD 6. Either way, it is annoying when it happens, and we must hope Apple cure it in iDVD 7. In the meantime here is my failsafe workaround, which sounds a lot more complicated when reading about it, that it is in practise.
Living in the UK, I use PAL (25 fps). Wherever you see a reference to PAL (25 fps) in the following you may substitute NTSC (30 fps) in the various settings mentioned (if you don’t live in Europe), the basic idea is the same. I still use this method, and take these steps, regardless of whether it is always necessary. Worst case scenario: it would have worked anyway. Best case scenario: it works perfectly where it otherwise wouldn’t!
The object of the exercise is therefore to ‘fix’ all constituent parts of the project (video, titles, theme, effects, even audio!) in the desired 16:9 aspect to avoid producing a DVD where the movie is in 16:9 and the menu is in 4:3 or where other irritating surprises lurk in your project, which you only discover after burning a coaster!
First go to http://www.mydvdedit.com/index.php?lang=english and download myDVDedit. This is shareware although the download is free. Send the guy a few dollars/euros, he deserves it. While you are there, read all about it. Now install it in your Applications Folder. You will need it later.
You have finished your iMovie project with music, transitions and so on, and saved it to you Movies Folder. Before you started the project you naturally set it to DV Widescreen.
Open iDVD. Give the project a name, and save it as Widescreen if it didn’t default to the same aspect as your iMovie project. Now import the iMovie project into iDVD, choose a theme (any theme you like, even if it prefers to stay at 4:3) and save the project. Do what you would normally do to the theme and its drop zones. Save the project.
Now save as Disk Image on your desktop. Leave it there for the moment when it has finished/appeared.
Open your Movies Folder. Create a new folder. Name it PROJECTNAME – TS FILES (where ‘projectname’ is the name of your project!). Close the folder. You can of course call it anything you like, but this aids identification.
Now double-click the disk image on your desktop. It contains two folders: AUDIO_TS (which is empty, but please pretend that it isn’t) and VIDEO_TS. Drag and drop these to the folder you created in your Movies Folder. (This takes a moment).
Click on the AUDIO_TS folder and go to Get Info in the file menu. Right down the bottom is where you have to change the permissions. Under ‘Ownership & Permissions’ change this from Read Only to Read & Write. Click the small triangle next to Details, scroll down and click on ‘Apply to enclosed items’. You will be asked for your root password. Close the get info window, and now click on the VIDEO_TS folder and do the same. Close the Projectname-TS Files folder. You have now allowed yourself to change the properties of the contents of those folders, which leads us to the next all-important step.
Open myDVDedit. Go to File and open the projectname TS Files folder. By all means stare at it shock and awe, but don’t bother finding out what it can do, except for the following:
Top left you fill see a list of files. Lower centre you have a large window. On the vertical menu to the left of that, click te middle one (VTS or VMG).
In the window at the top left, ignore ‘First Play’ (if there was anything to correct in that, myDVDedit will have done so and told you).
Click on VMG Menu en (English). Now the whole thing springs to life.
Set Coding Mode to MPEG-2 (if it isn’t already)
Set Standard to PAL (or NTSC if that is what you want)
Set Aspect to 16:9 (not any of the other options)
    Now save the file.
Click on VTS Menu 1 en (English) and repeat as above.
Click on VTS Menu 2 and repeat as above.
You have now permanently ‘fixed’ the entire contents of the TS folder (the disk image) in 16:9 aspect. Close myDVDedit – you won’t need it again until the next project!
If you have Toast 7 Titanium, open it. ‘Select DVD-Video from VIDEO_TS’. Choose Select from the main Toast window and select your projectname-TS Files folder. You are now ready to burn! You can set the burn speed (2x recommended) before the burn commences. Allow Toast to verify the burn before you eject the DVD-R disk.
If you don’t have Toast 7, then I assume you can burn the projectname-TS Files folder (disk image) via Disk Utility. I say ‘assume’ only because I have never tried it that way.
Either way, you now have a DVD which will play as 16:9 widescreen on any TV set, even the old ones where you can’t ask it to letter-box.

  • The bottom of my .swf image cuts off in firefox and IE, could anyone help?

    Hello,
I've put a .swf image into iweb using the HTML widget. It's supposed to be animated except for in iphone and ipad in which case it will remain static.
I have two problems, firstly, whilst it works fine in safari and chrome, the bottom is cut off in IE and firefox. Secondly, I don't seem to be able to position it quite correctly in terms of vertical alignment on the page or its size. The problem is shown on the home page of the site: www.n2mediation.com (The other pages as yet have a static image).
I realise that this is a known problem. It's my first attempt at iweb and I've never seen HTML in my life before so if anyone could advise in simple terms which elements of the code to change I'd really appreciate the help.
    Thank you
    Trix44

Oh, thank you, I'm sorry, I hadn't understood what to do.
Everything about the animated image is now fixed brilliantly - the size, the alignment, and the bottom isn't cut off. Thank you.
The only thing I don't know what to do about now is how to have the static image load on ipad and iphone (because I understand that .swf files don't work on these devices). Currently the image doesn't load at all, it's blank space. Could you please advise how I should adapt the code to insert the static image if the device isn't flash compatible. The path of the static image is http://www.n2mediation.com/Fotolia_43355604_XL.jpg
    Thank you

  • Browser fill image cuts off at bottom when published from Muse to BC...?

The site previews fine in the browser but when I publish it to BC it cuts off the bottom of the image and just shows the browser fill color (which is dark grey). I'm pretty sure this is a BC issue because everything looks fine in Muse. I have done all I can think of to fix this but havn't figured anything out. Here is some information if it helps. Weird thing is only the img. I used for the header is listed in the css, the img. for the browser fill is not listed.

    Master Page css:

              border-color: transparent;

              background: transparent url("/images/header_swoosh.png") no-repeat center center;
              background-size: cover !important;
    #u7524_align_to_page,#u7579
              position: relative;
    #u32679
              border-style: none;

    Hello,
You probably did not find this article at the right time but there is one KB article explaining how to insert the Edge content into a Muse website.
Basically what you have to do is, after you publish the Edge project, to take the exported folder, or just the files, (but I'm totally into taking taking the whole folder) and upload them to your FTP where the Muse site is published. After that just use the "Object > Insert HTML..." option from Muse and paste the <iframe> code from the KB and customize the path to the folder where the files are located and the width & height for the iframe.
KB can be accessed here: http://www.adobekb.com/inserting_edge_content.html
An example can be found here.
    - Edge project uploaded to FTP.
    - Content of the project folder.
    - HTML code
I hope this will answer your question.
    Cheers,
    Cristian

  • Image Cut Off - Q150 connected to a PAN 720p Plasma via HDMI

    Good Morning Everyone!
I have the same basic problem described on posting:
Q150 connected to TV - bottom of windows task bar is cut off
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaCentre-Desktops-Home-Servers/Q150-connected-to-TV-bottom-of-windows-...
I have the Lenovo Q150 connected to a Panasonic 50" 720p Plasma via HDMI.  The image displayed from the PC Windows 7 desktop is cut off at the bottom.  Any ideas on what the setting needs to be for the Q150?  The Plasma TV?
    Thank you,
    Edwin

I had the same problem on a Sony 46" LCD and just kept fiddling with the settings until I got the task bar to show up. I don't remember having to change any settings on the TV itself. I was able to fix it using the the Q150's video settings.

  • Image cut off when printing from snipping tool

I am using the snipping tool that is part of Microsoft Windows 7. Thank you for your help.

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I understand that you are experiencing issues with cut off images on your Windows 7 PC before printing to your Envy 7640. I can help you with that, however I am not quite sure what program you are using that has your snipping tool. If you let me know what program you are using I can make sure we get you pointed in the right direction to resolve this.

  • Top of image cut off when printed

I used Aperture to print a borderless 4x6 on borderless paper. In the print preview, the entire image was there (a close-up of Detroit Tiger Verlander with his hat on). Then I printed and the top 10-20% of his hat was cut off.
But then I ordered an online print through Aperture of the same photo just as I set up to print from my printer. The print was sent to me without being clipped at the top.
Anyone know why this clipping happens when I print the picture? I quadruple checked all the settings.

You may want to check on the printer driver and paper size selected

  • Problem with Airplay Mirroring: Image Cut Off

I have a mid 2011 Macbook Pro.   I have installed Mountain Lion.   I am able to activate Airplay Mirroring, however, part of the image is cut off.   In other words, what is shown on my TV is only about 2/3 of the image that is shown on my macbook.    It is not showing a black bar, or anything like that.   It is more like the image is enlarged and doesn't fit on the TV screen.
I have searched the internet trying to find a solution.   I haven't found anyone with this problem.   So, my question is, do I have some settings wrong?   Or is it a problem with the settings on my TV?   If anyone has suggestions for troubleshooting this problem I would be grateful!   I really want to use airplay!
    Thanks!

OK, I am replying to my own question!    My husband just found a thread solving this problem.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19070883#19070883#19070883
We changed the video settings on the Apple TV to 'auto', and restarted.   It works great now!

  • Import premier elements project

I would like to import a project done in Adobe Premier Elements into Premier pro. The file a *.prel format. I am have some difficulty with this. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Pursuant to a request for the same thing in the Elements forum, I Imported a PE4 Project into PP2. Everything came in, except one Title in my test Project. Other Titles did fine. This one was a test of Type on a Path, and it showed as Media Offline (you know that multi-language red screen, that we all love so much.) In my test, I had mux'ed AV material (all DV-AVI), stills, Titles and SmartSound Track. Everything, except as noted above, Imported perfectly and played perfectly.
One note: when going to Import, you will need to twirl down to "All Files," for PP to see the PREL files, otherwise, they do not appear.
This one surprised me. Now, I do not know about other flavors of PREL (say PE3), and also do not know how they might Import into CS3, or CS4.

  • Background Image Cuts Off - Browser Scroll Isn't Long Enough

Okay, fairly new to Dreamweaver, long-time graphic designer. That said, the answer will probably be easier than trying to explain the problem!
Using the Page Properties, I set the following in the Appearance (CSS) tab:
    Background color to #000
Appearance HTML Background image (contains the image in question, created in Photoshop)
    No-repeat
This Photoshop image is kind of long (960 x 2232) because there is a bunch of text that needs to flow on top. I thought that I reached some sort of maximum in height and so I reduced the height of the image a little and the same problem--cut off at the bottom of the browser. Note that this cut off issue was not a problem until I extended the graphic to this long length. On other pages, it is much shorter and all is well.
I've pasted a snapshot of the bottom of the web browser preview below. You can see that the scroll bar is at the bottom and there is just a small bit of the paper that is not showing. I would like the bottom of the paper to be seen with a little bit of the black background beneath that.
My first instinct is that I'm missing a bottom padding effect, but can't find where to adjust that type of setting.
Another Thought--I would much rather this graphic auto expand as the text flows over it, but did not know how to accomplish that, so I extended the graphic in the Photoshop file. Its not a tile type of image that can be repeated. It is an ancient looking paper, therefore, the top and bottom need to look a certain way, but the mid section could be tiled and repeated. So if this is a better route, please direct me on where to learn how to implement.
    Thanks a bunch!

extra carriage returns were needed in the text frame to extend below the background image.

Do not use non-breaking spaces, line breaks or empty <p> tags as a layout device.  It doesn't work in all devices or by all users.

  • Long background image cut off

    Hi,
I have a long web page giving people and there bio. I set iWeb to produce a gradient gray background. The text runs about 3400 px long but the background cuts off at about 3000pxs. It looks fine in iWeb but is cut off on the published web page. I tried to edit the code and make changes in iWeb but without success. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you tried setting the content height to what you need with the Inspector/Page/Layout pane?
This test page was set to 3500 pixels and the counter was dragged down to the bottom and a little more: http://web.me.com/toad.hall/HelperSite/Misc.html.

  • Trying to print from a template, image cutting off

I am creating a brochure using the "Classic Brochure" template. (three fold)  My document looked fine in the print preview, but when printing, it would cut off the top, bottom and right margins.  I used the template so I could didn't have to rely on my layout skills.  I wanted to see if the mess up was me, so I printed the sample template. It's also cutting it off.  This particular design has borders all around so lining it up correctly is really important.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Do you have a borderless option? Look in File > Pages setup > Paper size.
It would be nice if you told us which Pages version you are using. Say it in numbers

What version of Premiere Elements do you have and on what computer operating system is it running? In the absence of that information and with a lot of assumptions....
When was the last time you did a Windows Update if your Premiere Elements is running on Windows?
Please take a look at the following thread which represented a then hot topic of 1/2 display for wmv due to problem Windows Update.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1264554?tstart=0
Any of that apply to you?
The Announcement that once appeared for this at the top of the forum is now gone since Microsoft has supplied revised Windows Update.
Please let SG and us know the outcome.
    Thanks.
