Images disappearing from Camera Roll?

I have recently bought an Iphone 4 and immediately upgraded to iOS 4.02. The other day I discovered that all of a sudden I can not see any of the pictures taken with the camera. In the Camera Roll I see the thumbnails. When I try to see the pictures I only get a black screen. For the two videos I recorded I have a similar problem, I see the thumbnails but it says "The video can not be played". I have not synced any of the pictures in iTunes, just music. I tried to restart the iPhone, did not help. I tried to sync the iPhone and then restart and connect again, problem remains. Please help!

You've stumbled across another publishing bug in iWeb 1.1 & 1.1.1. When you publish a page with images that go to the "Images" folder, other pages that have images in this folder will have their images removed. Images only seem to go missing on pages that are NOT published during an editing session, so a "publish all" is a workaround. Also, if you edit a pictures within iWeb, it seems to create an "edited" copy that gets placed in Page_files folder for the page, also working around the proglem. I can't figure out why it places only certain (non-edited?) files in the Images folder, perhaps it is trying to do some images sharing across the pages.

  • My photos taken about a week ago disappeared from camerA roll... :o

Hi... I have ipad min ios 7.0.1
Some of my photos taken about 5 days age have been disappeared from camera roll... They,ve been there about two hours ago...
    What can i do?

The standard procedure with these types of isues is a PRAM reset.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Photos disappear from camera roll

After taking photos & videos i can view them on Camera Roll.
However, when I next open camera roll they have all disappeared.
This only started happening 5 weeks ago.
Earlier photos are still on Camera Roll.
    This is very frustrating.
    Any ideas out there?

Photos in the iPod's Camera Roll album are included in both the iCloud and iTunes backup. Restoring from those backups will restore the Camera Roll album

  • Photos disappeared from camera roll

I just got a new iPhone 4S while we were out of town, away from home - I shot a number of photos with the iPhone, and kept them on the phone in Camera Roll.
When we returned to our home, we set up iCloud, connected to the computer, restored the new iPhone 4S using the backup of my previous iPhone, so that all my settings and apps and stuff would be as I wanted them.
Now, the photos I shot over the weekend are nowhere to be seen.
    WHERE ARE THEY?
    What happened?
    And why?

I had the same problem with my iphone 4s. went through these steps and it fixed it.
the photos aren't deleted from your phone... it's just the photo database file is corrupt. going through the steps on this page, using the free iexplorer app they link to, you can get the photos off the phone, then delete the database file (Photos.sqlite), restart your phone, open the photos app, wait a minute or two as it rebuilds the database, then all your photos will show up again and you should be able to sync normally and download the photos. best of luck!

  • Photos have disappeared from camera roll

my mom got home after a trip and tried to sync her iphone because of a problem she had when my sister deleted some contacts from her phone and icloud deleted from my mom's iphone automaticly during its sync apperently the laptop shut down and when she sync again all the photos from the camera roll had disapearred. i have already tried to find the photos on the cumputer but i've got nothing. are the photos deleted forever? i dont think she has a previous back up for anything since she never syncs her iphone. there is anything i can do to retrieve the lost photos?

    John
If she has a recent icloud back-up the camera roll is also saved to that back-up.  Normally iCloud backs-up everyday and will offer you the last three back-ups to choose from.
If the time frame is correct then you might want to try an iCloud restore from back-up.

And not to nag... but photos must be backed up on a computer.  It's very easy to do.
    Cheers

  • Images disappear from camera menu in iphoto after import

After I import pictures from a canon camera to iphoto, they do not appear in the camera menu when I click on it in the program.  Does that mean they are deleted from the camera or are they just hidden on the program but still on the camera?

sorry but your post is not clear
What version of iPhoto do you have? Of the OS?
After I import pictures from a canon camera to iphoto,
    OK
they do not appear in the camera menu
    Please explain this
when I click on it in the program.
What program? What are you clicking on? what happens? what do you expect to happen?
Does that mean they are deleted from the camera
Did you delete them after importing the photos? If so did you reformat the memory card using the camera (recommended) or have iPhoto delete then after importing (not recommened) or did you choose to keep the photos?
or are they just hidden on the program
    Again what program?
    but still on the camera?
No one but you can answer this - are they still on the memory card when you put it in the camera
BTW it is strongly recommended that you never have any computer program including iPhoto delete your photos - after importing keep the photos and then after at least one successful backup cycle you can use your camera's format command to reformat and erase the memory card - personally I rotate between three large  cards so I do not delete the photos from my memory card for a year or more

  • I move my videos from camera roll to a new folder. After i turn off & on my phone, the videos disappears. The videos are very important to me. Please please help. how can i retrieve?

i move my videos from camera roll to a new folder. after turn off & on again my phone, the videos disappears. the videos are very important to me. Is there any way i can retrieve it? please please help. thanks.

Photo Stream is not a backup.
Photo Stream has a limit so is temporary.
iTunes does not handle the import of photos/videos from any digital camera including from the iPhone's Camera Roll.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.

  • Is there any way I can recover deleted pictures from Camera Roll and iCloud? Please please help me. All of my precious pictures are gone that I can never EVER get back. I dont have any iCloud or Camera Roll backup; and my PC can't download more software.

Hi everyone! I'm in need of extreme help. You see, today, two months ago I went out of the country from the United States of America. I took about 1500 pictures ONLY on my iPod touch. When I returned to the United States to my home, I accidentally deleted a little more than 100 pictures. Then, thinking I could get ALL of the pictures back at once, I restored my iPod touch from an iCloud backup I had a couple of days before. Instead of getting all of my pics back, they all got erased. The pictures that I did delete were deleted from Camera Roll AND Photo Stream (iCloud). Then, I was only able to get about 500 pictures back from iCloud. So about 1000 are still gone. When i did the restore, I thought all my pictures would be there, but they weren't and I couldn't possibly figure out why; because a restore from iTunes or iCloud is supposed to restore your device to the settings of the time you backed up your device. All of my other settings were just the way they were supposed tone for the time being, all except my pictures, which contained not one picture in any folder. So EVERYTHING from Cameta Roll was gone, and only about 500 pictures survived. I kept retoring and restoring, hoping they would come back but unfortunately they didn't. Then one time a restored again, I saw all of them back!! But then, within a blink of an eye, they disappeared as soon as I tapped on one picture. Then, I knew they were still in reach, but I just had to find them. Where could those 1000 pictures go? I looked up how to recover deleted photos, but I have to install a software. My computer CANNOT possibly take anymore software on it, my PC is very sensitive and I cannot delete anything off of it. Please please help me. What can I do to get my pictures back? They are memories that I can never EVER EVER get back. Thank you so much.

Please please help me, if you know how.

  • How do I transfer photos from 'camera roll' to 'photo stream' so that they sync w/ my PC?

I want to take pics w/ the phone and then view them on my PC. I can't seem to get the photos and video to move from 'camera roll' to 'photo stream' so that I can work with them on my PC. I can move pics on my PC into the photostream upload folder and those appear quicklly on my phone in the photo stream album.

How do you do that? I've tried through iPhoto and iTunes and in neither case are the images/videos from the Camera Roll accessable. Images from Photo Stream are, but not Camera Roll. And since images/videos saved from Messages end up in Camera Roll, I can't figure out how to get them either into Photo Stream or transfered to my computer.

  • Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files?

Is there any way I can view / remove pictures from Camera Roll on the iPhone, on a Mac, without actually importing the files? I just want to view / delete files without importing them.
For instance I have 1200 photos on my iPhone Camera Roll. Some of these are shots, that I've taken multiple times, some good, some bad. I just want to clean up my Camera Roll, but going through the pictures on the iPhone's small screen is tedious. I'd much rather look at the camera roll's photo's on my Mac, and then decide which files I'd like to keep, and which to delete.
I don't want to import the files, as when I import the files, and delete them from Camera Roll, now the Photo's are not on my phone, and the only way to get them back on my Phone is to Import them back in using iTunes, and then they go into the Picture Library and not the Camera Roll.
In the same way as I can view Pics from my digital camera's SD card on a Mac without having to actually copy them to my computer, is there any app out there that will let me view my iPhone pics without importing them.

    The short answer is yes.
Connect your iPhone to your computer.
    Open Image Capture application.
Click on the 4 little squares at bottom to view them as photos, not a list.
Select the photos them click the No Entry icon at bottom to delete.

  • IOS devices don't put shared photos from Camera Roll onto My Photostream

I have photostream setup and working pretty well. I have 2 iPhones and 2 iPads syching all their photos between them and sharing with others. My phortos are also being automatically saved on my mac mini using My Photostream.
The problem is when I want to add photos someone esle has shared on a photo stream into My Photostream. I save the photo I want into the Camera Roll of the device. This bit works fine but for somereason the photo isn't then put into My Photostream. It's very strange because if I put images into my Camera Roll through other methods (such as from an email or a screen capture and of course by taking a photo) the image gets into My Photostream. It's just images I imput from shared photostream that don't.
This is really frustrating because I want to easily have other people's photos that I want in my personal colleciton included in the backup on the mac mini. It's particularly nice how all my photos appear grouped by month in Events in iPhoto.
Is anyone else having this problem? Any advice on how to fix it? It's occuring with all my iOS devices so it looks like it might be a bug.

I'd rather not. Besides the hassle of the extra synch process, they'll come in as separate import events mixed in wih all my other photos and not be in the month by month photostream archive I mentioned.

  • Cannot copy photos from camera roll to a synch folder

I cannot copy any photo stored in Camera Roll to folder that synch's with my PC.  > "PC Synch Folder"<    I am using iphone 4s and iPad 3.   Happens to both iDevices.
On the iDevice the "PC Synch Folder" is greyed out when trying to do a copy.   In fact, I cannot even delete that folder from either iDevices.
For what it's worth, I can create a new folder on either iDevice and copy from Camera Roll to it.  Fine.  But that folder will not talk to the folder that I want to synch with my PC.  Strange?
The folder "PC Synch Folder" will indeed sych any picture I put in there from the PC side.   However, what is in there, does not show up in Camera Roll.  What I have in Camera roll cannot be transferred into the "PC Synch Folder"   It's like there is a wall between the folders.
Hence the problem is ...  pictures taken on either iDevices cannot be transferred back to my PC!   I don't want this !
This seems most odd.  Have I done something dumb and simple?
    /tom

I use Picasa. You don't have to use iTunes at all. Connect the phone with the USB cable and launch the app of your choice, such as Picasa. Click the "Import" button at the upper left. Your iPhone should appear in the dropdown of choices to import from. You can then import all or some of the photos in the Camera Roll. You should be able to do the same thing with Microsoft Picture Manager or any other photo management program.
The reason that Elements is the only choice is that's the only one that iPhoto on the phone recognizes albums in.
You cannot move photos INTO the Camera Roll from your computer; it's a one-way transfer. But you can sync photos to the Photos app on the iPhone. You either use Elements, or just create a folder on your computer for photos to sync, then create a sub-folder for each album you want on your computer. Copy the photos to each album, then go to the Photos tab in iTunes and select the top-level folder. When you sync each sub-folder will become an album on the iPhone.
However, I consider the photo app on the iPhone rather limited and klunky. Instead I use the app MyPics from the app store. It syncs photos from my Picasa Web albums directly to the phone over the air. I can also create albums in Picasa Web from the phone, and upload images from the Camera Roll directly to Picasa Web.
Another way to get photos (and other files) to and from the phone is Dropbox and similar cloud-based storage solutions.

  • How to delete large numbers of photos from Camera Roll in Iphone 4S

I want to delete large numbers of photos from Camera Roll.  Do I have to do it one at a time?

if you do it on the phone, yes - one by one.
if it is really many photos: connect phone to your computer. open digital images. import all your photos to a folder of your choice, tick 'delete after import'. import. now your photos are gone on your phone, and inside the destination folder you selected in digital images. delete this one, too. done.

  • How do I down load pictures from Camera Roll that were

How do I down load pictures from Camera Roll on my iPhone to my Mac Pro that were taken prior to iCloud?

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. This was the same prior to photo streaming with iCloud and remains the same since.
With a Mac, you can use iPhoto for the import which also supports iCloud photo streaming, or the Image Capture application.

  • Take phots from camera roll and into another?

so i have an iphone 4s with the newest software update. i tried making a new folder on my iphone, and putting my photos FROM my camera roll INTO my new folder. but apparently if i delete it from my newest made folder..it gets deleted from my camera roll. nice job apple.
so, how can i, take some pictures from camera roll, and place them into my new folder?

    Here is a workaround:
    1. Camera Roll
1.1 tap on the share button (top right corner)
1.2 tap on the images you want move to a different photo folder (max 5 images possible)
1.3 tap on the share button (bottom left corner)
1.4 chose Email and send the 5 images to yourself
    2. PC
2.1 open your inbox and download the 5 images
2.2 copy and paste the images from your Download folder to a new folder created in your Images folder
    3. iTunes
3.1 open iTunes and connect your iPhone
3.2. open in the top menu Photos
3.3 make sure that Sync Photos is checkmarked as well as All Folders or
3.3 if you sync only selected folders make sure that your new created folder (above 2.2) is checkmarked
    4. Sync
    4.1 sync your iPhone
    5. Camera Roll
5.1 open Camera Roll on your iPhone
5.2 tap on the share button (top right corner)
5.3 tap on the 5 images you downloaded earlier
5.4 tap on the Delete button (bottom right corner)
    5.5 confirm delete
Repeat those steps for the next 5 images, and so on...
    6. Cleaning up PC
6.1 delete the emails you sent to yourself
6.2 delete the images in your Download folder
If you don't want a huge amount of images in your Camera Roll It is recommended to proceed as described everytime when you shoot new pictures since you only may 5 images download, meaning, if you wait until you have 1,000 images in your Camera Roll you have to repeat the whole thing 200 times!
