Images dropping from PDF when printing

I am having an issue with 1 PDF file in which there are images that are dropping from the page when ripping to a digital press (iGen3).  I have tried re-pdfing the file because that has helped in the past with fonts not printing correctly because they were not embeddedd when the customer created the pdf.
Same issue happened whether printing to the press or re-pdfing the file, a gray box appears in place of the graphic.
We found a work around where we drop the file in a hot folder for the press.  File is supplied from customer as pdf, we do not have the native files.  sample images below:

I've tried it twice. It crashes Word after going through all the footnotes. After I restart Word, I get the message asking to disable the plug-in.

  • Images and textboxes missing when printing from Word

    I have a large Word 2010 (*.docx) file (a developing chemistry textbook) that has many images and textboxes. Some are in-line, some are floating. Everything looks fine on the screen and print preview. However, when I print to Adobe Acrobat, some of the text boxes and images disappear. I would estimate about 1/4 of them become blank space. When I delete 90 % of the document and print, more text boxes and images are printed, but not all.
    When I use the 'save as pdf' feature in Word, everything is printed, but MathType equations have a problem (contacted Dessci already). I also have very little control over the Word settings. Trying a suggestion from another post: printer metrics are already turned off.
    As you can imagine, this is frustrating.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • Tiff Decompressor needed for Images copied from PDF?

    I typed in "Tiff decompressor" into Photoshop's Help (which was no help as is common), and also did a forum search, but nothing came up.
    Before I go any further, a message to those who write Helps:
    i make sure that every term that is used within the program, including its error messages, is findable in Help.
    Some background: I'm generating a book that has lots of photos that are higher resolution than required for final print. I don't know of any way that I can resample them all to 300 dpi at final print size other than exporting to PDF. I don't want to print just yet. I want to resample all the images to reduce the total size of the book for archiving purposes. So I've exported all the chapters to PDF simply as a way of resampling all the images, then I can backup the PDFs and use those as the archive for the 300 dpi images.
    Problem: when I tried to get back an image from one of these PDFs, to make sure it was really 300 dpi, I did this:
    1. Selected the image in the PDF.
    2. Copied it.
    3. Opened a new document in Photoshop CS.
    4. Pasted.
    5. Got a message that said: "Quicktime and a Tiff (Uncompressed) decompressor are needed to see this picture."
    Trusty Google, did a much better job of solving the problem. It turns out if I open Preview and then select File > New From Clipboard, the image is imported into Preview from where I can save it as a Tiff image that PS is able to open.
    Q1: If Preview can do it, why can't PS. given that the image originally came from PS, went into InDesign, then to PDF... but it won't come back straight to PS. Why?
    Q2: How do I extract an image from a PDF and get it straight into PS?
    Q3: The image (when I do get it into PS via Preview) has been flattened. Is there any way to keep all the layers.
    Q4: Is there any way I can avoid all the above steps (InDesign > PDF > Preview > PS) when all I want to do is extract all the images from an InDesign document, have them resampled to 300 dpi (not only downsampled; resampled preferably, up and down), and send them to a folder for archiving.

    >Q2: How do I extract an image from a PDF and get it straight into PS?
    In Acrobat and not the reader version:
    Option click twice with the Touch Up Tool. This will open the embedded Photoshop file in Photoshop directly with the correct resolution when the PDF was saved. Be careful to note that Grayscale files as well as Spots will open with a dialog of "unsupported color space" It's a bug you just have to live with for now.
    >Q3: The image (when I do get it into PS via Preview) has been flattened. Is there any way to keep all the layers.

  • Automatically prompt to save PDF when Print Preview for Purchase Order?

    We recently upgraded to EP7.
    I have an end user that does our PO's.
    She swears up and down that she used to be able to go into any given PO, be it new or existing, and click on the print preview button. She says when she did this she was prompted to save or open the file.
    She is set to PDF Preview when doing a print preview of the PO.
    When we first upgraded the system, it was broken. When she tried to do this it would give you a Page Cannot Be Displayed error as in unable to find the page. We learned that there was an issue with name resolution within the system. We fixed this and now she can view the files as PDF when doing a print preview.
    But she still claims it did not used to work like this that when she went to preview she would be prompted to save or view which worked great for her because she could click save, save it to her computer, and then email it to whomever she needed to send it to.
    Seems clear to me that that when you do PDF Preview that an SAP browser session is created and sent to an web site (internal to SAP of course) to view the PDF. How can I tell SAP to give me the option to view or save?
    For now the user is repeating the output when she needs to reprint another copy of the PO.
    I should also say that we use Free PDF Creator. After setting her default printer to this, she says that now when she creates a new PO, it is working like before. So its possible that the prompt was the one from PDF Creator.
    The user says she swears she could simply print preview would allow her to save local. I never saw it for myself prior to the upgrade.
    Anyone seen this before or can offer any clues? Is there away to issue output at print preview?

    How did you fix 'page cannot be displayed' error?
    It looks like issue was at browser/pdfreader side.

  • Random words disappear from pdf and printed page

    I work for a newspaper and we have had an ongoing problem from week to week of random words dropping off pages. It happens with the same font family each time but usually only occurs on one page a week. These fonts are used throughout the entire paper and has no problems in other places. The problem seems totally random. I usually send groups of pages (about 25)and the printer then extracts the pages.
    They say the words sometimes drop off when the pages are extracted in acrobat.
    I'm using indesign cs6, with the default "high quality print" setting. The font in question is the Knockout family from the Hoefler foundry. It is open type.
    Does anyone have a solution for this? We had an entire headline drop off last week resulting in the printer having to reprint the entire paper... Not so good.
    I have tried reinstalling the font but it has not helped.

    Yes I export directly from InDesign and then send the files via FTP after that. Once they receive the files, they they use the Document/Extract tool within Acrobat to separate the files. Apparently this is when they find that letters on the page have been replaced by X'd out boxes.
    Their fix is to open the orignal set of pages in Photoshop and rasterize the problem page. I would rather they don't do this so that we don't lose quality. Also, when fonts drop from the page, they can be easily overlooked by an unattentive printer.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to read tags from pdf to print in different printers (PCL or PS)

    Hello from Spain.. I would apreciate some help who to read tags from pdf to discriminate PDF Production tag for send print PDF to printer job using driver PCL or PS. I get trubles when print PDFs files made by PDFcreator (Ghostscript, intermediate PDF from PS) in PCL job printer. I need to eval tags from PDF for send command line os javascript inside Adobe Acrobat to print in the correct job printer: PCL or PS...
    Thanks.

    As noted you cannot access the "Tag" of a PDF but you can access the meta data of a PDF and one of the items recorded in the meta data is the "producer". This meta data tag is supposed contain the name of the program that produced the PDF. One can access this through the "info" property or the "metadata" property of the doc object.
    var cProducer = this.info.Producer; // get the producer application for this PDF;
    console.show();
    console.clear();
    console.println("This PDF was created by " + cProducer);
    Be aware that the user can easily modify the Producer information with Acrobat, JavaScript, or other application after the PDF has been created.

  • Part of page "image" overlaps the page when printed.  How do I fix this?

    When printing from Acrobat 10.1.5, part of the contents of the page prints on top of the page itself.  In my most recent case, the page is landscape.  The portion of the page that overprinted is from the bottom center about 1 inch wide and 4 inches tall.  It ended up on the top right of my page.
    Portrait example - a similar sized "piece" from the middle of the 8.5" length, about 1 inch tall and 4 inches wide printed on the top left of my portrait page.
    I have tried the quick fix - print as image - but that doesn't change anything.  Help!

    Hi Casey ,
    You can check the properties of that calender option and if there is an option of opening the calender in the same page ,then please select that.
    Or is it with the help of button option you have created the calender?

  • How to show masked links in PDF when printing?

    Ive got a PDF where some hyperlinks are masked behind certain words. For digital use of this document this is fine. • Images are very dark when printing??

    Hi all, I'm new to printing with photoshop but having trouble and hope someone can help?...shooting in raw and RGB colour, converting images to jpg. In photoshop and they look great on screen, but skin tones and colours look really dark when printed?? What am I missing

    In addition to calibrating your screen which will help with the colors, the odds are your display is turned up way too bright. Depending on the calibration system you get, it may allow setting the screen brightness to an optimum brightness. But you can reduce the brightness now even before you calibrate the display. Try 1/2 of the full luminance to see if that makes the display look more like your dark prints...

  • Using Fields from PDF when saving

    Im looking on how to use fields in a pdf form when saving the form.
    ex. Incident Report
    Staff open up the form. Put in the information. Want it so when they save it puts the clients name and date in the save as. So they open Incident_Report.pdf when they save it would be Incident_Report_ClientsName_Date.pdf Yes the staff could type that in that way but want to make it as easy for everyone involved.

    So let's say you have the following fields in your file:
    Incident_Report
    ClientsName
    Date
    You can then add this code to the file's WillSave action (under Tools - JavaScript - Set Document Actions):
    var newFileName = this.getField("Incident_Report").valueAsString + "_" + this.getField("ClientsName").valueAsString + "_" + this.getField("Date").valueAsString + ".pdf";
    app.response("Please copy the text below and use it as the new file-name:","", newFileName)
    Of course, you can adjust the message to the user, and even the format of the file-name, although I've used the format you specified.

  • Stop image capture from opening when iphone is connected ?

    how do i get "image capture" to stop auto opening when i connect my iphone ?
    i have set image capture to open when i connect a camera, but i don't want it to open when i connect the iphone.
    is this possible ?

    Chenks,
    The way you have it set, Image Capture will open whenever it detects photos that have been taken with the iPhone. To prevent it, you can just import the photos you've taken with the iPhone to your computer and then erase them off the phone (you can then sync them back to the phone if you want them), or you can set Image Capture to not open when any camera is connected. That will apply to other digital cameras as well as the iPhone.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • Colours differ from screen when printing

    Together with my Mac I bought Photoshop Elements9.  When printing the colours between the screen and the actual phot are vastly different. The printed colours are much darker.
    My printer is a HP Photosmart D5460 which I have been using with my Photoshop Elements 6 and a laptop before and never had any colour problems.
    Please can anybody help me.

    Is your monitor calibrated? For one thing, the current macs usually come with the monitor set to be very, very bright. Try reducing the brightness of the monitor and see if that helps. Also, be sure that you aren't double-managing color. Start by trying with the color management option in PSE set to Printer Manages Color, then make all your color, ink, paper, etc. choices in the OS X print dialog that opens AFTER you click Print in the Print window in PSE. If you decide then to try letting PSE manage color, make sure you turn color management off in the OS X print window.
