Images in CC6 appear soft on screen

Images in CC6 appear soft on screen until I click and hold in the title bar and move a fraction when they become pin sharp - What's happening?

Superger,
Just to check the basic, check in Preferences > Menu > Final Rendering settinngs. I had some similiar problems some time ago and I had just by mistake changed it to Hardware based.
Form DVDSP Manual:
Final Rendering: Since menus can contain a variety of elements layered over the background, such as buttons, drop zones, and text, they must be rendered into a single layer, similar to flattening a multiple layer graphic file. With still menus, this takes little time, but with motion menus, where each frame must be rendered, this can be a time-consuming process. Additionally, all transitions you add to your project must be rendered. See “About Menu Rendering” on page 230 for more information.
The Final Rendering settings allow you to choose how the menus and transitions are rendered:
• Hardware based: This setting provides the fastest rendering. However, since the quality is dependent on your system’s video card, the quality might not be as good as when using the “Software based” setting, and may not be consistent between different systems.
• Software based: This setting provides consistent, good-quality rendering on all systems. However, depending on your system, it may take substantially longer than the “Hardware based” setting.

    Hello,
    I never drag the group list to mail.
    I just type it's name and Mail brings it automatically.
    I really don't see the point of starting do what you suggested as it complicate the work flow (using 2 applications to achieve a missing feature...)
    I think the point is to simplify things and not complication them.
    I need Mail to be flexible, so I can add as many groups or one by one contacts without having the need to use another application and drag from there.
    How come no one has thought about that?
    very strange and frustrating to know it's not existed in mail.
    but thanks anyhow
    by the way,
    when such a feature missing, does it goes to apple features requests?

  • Is it possible to get the image from the i pad when mirroring via Apple TV to fill the screen instead of appearing as a screen within a screen?

    When mirroring, is it possible to get the image from the ipad to fill the screen on the TV instead of appearing as a screen within a screen?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    No, the iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3, a TV has an aspect ratio of 16:9, to fit one into the other is impossible without distorting the picture. If your TV has a zoom feature, you may be able to use this to fill the screen a little more to your liking, but this will result in cropping top and bottom.

    The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos.  However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled.  What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

  • Camera Raw problem; images appearing soft and without definition on import

    Can anyone help? I am having problems with ACR version 4.6 ( I cannot upgrade ACR without upgrading to CS5). When I open a RAW image in ACR, the image appears soft, and with poor definition. As a result, they have failed quality control for upload to the Alamy picture library, despite having been shot with a Nikon D3. I am simply opening them with ACR defualts, then opening to photoshop.
    The files open fine in Lightroom and Nikon Capture NX, however I prefer to use ACR for my workflow. Any suggestions? I don't what to shekll out for CS% if the problem is still there.
    Thanks, Robin

    Have you tried resetting defaults? It sounds like either your Camera Raw default settings have been changed, or sharpening has been set to Previews only.
    1. Open an image in Camera Raw, select the Details tab, and check that setting are like defaults: Amount 25, Radius 1.0, Details 25, Masking 0. You can always reset defaults from the little menu icon on the right of the panel title.
    2. Check Camera Raw preferences, looking for the item: 'Apply Sharpening to:' and make sure it says 'All images'.
    You might want to check other preferences too, especially the 'make defaults specific' settings, which, when used, create multiple default settings depending on camera and ISO.

    At log-in Firefox the screen opened up with the message "Oops, We're embarrassed, we are having trouble closing tabs" or similar wording directing me to click on a tab to continue, which I did. At which time a screen full of rows of thumbnail pictures of a young girl in appeared on the screen. Some of the pictures had the girl imitating a sexual act. When I tried to close out of the screen by clicking on the 'X' at the top right of the screen, another screen opened with another larger picture of this little girl. I finally got out of Firefox. When I open it up again the message wasn't on the screen. As these pictures were disturbing I cleared them out of my history.
    My questions are - 1. Since these pictures appeared to be of a minor, can you backtrack to the source to find out where they originated and have something done about the individual who posted them? And,
    2. - Did my clicking on the link as directed - by Firefox, I thought - open my computer up to the personal information on my computer being compromised?

  • Images in ACR are softer than when viewed in Photoshop?

    Greetings,
    I'm finding that when I view a RAW image in ACR 4.1 that the image does not appear as sharp as when I open the image from ACR into Photoshop and view it in Photoshop. I open my RAW files from ACR into Photoshop as PSD files. The image as viewed in Photoshop looks sharper at values less than 100%. Here's a screen grab of the same image (Photoshop on the left, ACR on the right), side by side at the exact same viewing size (23.1%), and the Photoshop image has more sharpness and clarity to it. It's minor, but noticeable in the leaves and bricks and it gives the ACR image an overall soft feeling.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1jidvrPRXgXSfq8c5IHonNL13oeEI
    Do the programs handle interpolation diferrently when viewing images at less than 100%? Or, do RAW and PS files inherently display differently when not viewed at 100%? When both are viewed at 100%, they match. This isn't a major deal breaker -- but the lack of clarity at smaller viewing sizes in ACR is unfortunate, since I rarely view images in ACR at 100% size when I'm reviewing images and images that I think are soft are, in fact, not.
    The disparity seems more pronounced with images in portrait orientation.
    I'm using a Mac Pro, Radeon X1900, 23" ACD. Canon 5d images.
    Anyone experience similar? I love ACR, but wondering if someone can shed some light on this.

    Thanks for the clarification now -- it makes sense. I knew ACR only showed the effects of sharpening at 100%, but had forgotten to take into account Photoshop shows the effects of sharpening at all sizes, including under 100%

  • How do I get my printer to match the colours of the image as I see it on screen?

    How do I get my printer to match the colours of the image as I see it on screen? My HP Office Jet Pro L7680 printer tends to print my images with a bias towards red compared to the image I am seeing on screen with Lightroom 5 using a Mac with Retina 5 screen. Would appreciate any expertise on how to calibrate the printer to the screen

    You have two options. The first method costs nothing but is not as accurate and the second means buying hardware and investing some time. The fastest way to get things closer is to download the color profile from the printer manufactures site for the printer and paper combination you are using. Install it on you Mac and relaunch LR. This is best when the paper and printer are both from the same company; in your case, HP. If the paper is not made by HP, you can often find profiles for your paper/printer by going to the paper maker's web site and doing a search for the appropriate profile.
    The other alternative is to purchase a piece of hardware such as the ColorMonki which can be used to not only profile your monitor for color balance but also you printer/paper as well as your camera. When all of your devices agree on what color 118,118,118 means, you get the same color from capture to print but this is also an expensive option and there is a lot of time involved in building your own color profiles. The results however, are much more accurate.
    Once you have a color profile installed, the next step involves doing soft proofing. Once you have your image looking the way you want it to in LR, open it in the soft proof option. This will show you how your print will look using the color profile for the paper/printer you are using. During the process, you will be shown the print on your screen which may look off. Use the small triangle in the upper-right corner of the histogram to turn on the out-of-gamut warning. This will highlight any parts of your image which contain colors your printer can't handle. Use the rendering intent options to decide how you want these colors handled (relative or perceptual). Check them both and use the one you like best. You can also make additional changes at this point if required before you generate the JPG image. Make sure to save it as a max quality JPG using the sRGP profile. Once saved, you can send this image to your printer or even to a lab as the process is the same.The attached link should get you to a video showing how to use the ColorMunki hardware/software but, more importantly, shows you how to prepare an image for printing (in this case, for a lab) using soft proofing with the color profile created (or downloaded).--Great Color from Your Lab Prints – Every Time! on Vimeo

  • Image does not appear in applet.

    I am reading the book, Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days.
    There is an example in Ch.11 that shows how to load an image into the applet.
    I have tried to use the code provided as is along with an image as defined in the code. I have also uploaded the html, class and image to a folder on the web. Unfortunately, the image does not appear in the applet. The image does have an image that I created using ms paint.
    Here is the code I am currently using from the book:
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    import java.awt.Image;
    public class LadyBug2 extends java.applet.Applet {
         Image bugimg;
         public void init() {
             bugimg = getImage(getCodeBase(),
                 "ladybug.gif");
         public void paint(Graphics g) {
             int iwidth = bugimg.getWidth(this);
             int iheight = bugimg.getHeight(this);
             int xpos = 10;
             // 25 %
            g.drawImage(bugimg, xpos, 10,
                iwidth / 4, iheight / 4, this);
             // 50 %
             xpos += (iwidth / 4) + 10;
             g.drawImage(bugimg, xpos , 10,
                  iwidth / 2, iheight / 2, this);
             // 100%
             xpos += (iwidth / 2) + 10;
             g.drawImage(bugimg, xpos, 10, this);
             // 150% x, 25% y
             g.drawImage(bugimg, 10, iheight + 30,
                 (int)(iwidth * 1.5), iheight / 4, this);
    }I tried placing the image in an images folder and I also tried changing the code to getImage(getDocumentBase(), "ladybug.gif")
    as well as tried getImage(getCodeBase(), "ladybug.gif") in order to try and grab the image from the same directory as the class file and the html file.
    The image file's name is: ladybug.gif
    The code in the html file:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Lady Bug</TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <P>
    <APPLET CODE="LadyBug2.class" WIDTH=1024 HEIGHT=500>
    </APPLET>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    I have gotten previous applet examples from the book to work. One of them did have an error in the author's code which I fortunately was able to overcome. This time, I am afraid, the error eludes me.
    Thanks in advance.
    I do see that there is no start/stop/run in this version, but I believe this should still work because of the init. I am guessing that maybe the problem lies somewhere in there.

    According to the javadoc:
    getImage
    public Image getImage(URL url,
    String name)Returns an Image object that can then be painted on the screen. The url argument must specify an absolute URL. The name argument is a specifier that is relative to the url argument.
    This method always returns immediately, whether or not the image exists. When this applet attempts to draw the image on the screen, the data will be loaded. The graphics primitives that draw the image will incrementally paint on the screen.
    Parameters:
    url - an absolute URL giving the base location of the image.
    name - the location of the image, relative to the url argument.
    Returns:
    the image at the specified URL.
    I am confused as to how to use the name after the url.
    Should it read something like:
    bugimg = getImage("http://g.jtrusty.com/JavaApplet/", "LadyBug.gif");
    EDIT: I still get the same error, cannot find symbol at getImage.

  • Is it possible to print a document exactly as it appears on the screen?

    Like the topic question asks, is it possible to print a document exactly as it appears on the screen? I'm fairly new to indesign and I designed my company's manual recently, taking us away from doing so in Word. I fear I may have made a very amateurish mistake and am dreading having to go back and reposition everything. Some of the problem can be alleviated if I can find a way to print the document exactly as it appears on my monitor or when I export the file to PDF.
    What's happening is the page numbering and other items I set up outside of the bleed area (I think that's what it's called...the red box that appears in each document) are refusing to print properly. I want the entire right hand corner of the page to be taken up. Currently, only part of the image is printing. If I choose "scale to fit", then the entire image prints, but it doesn't take up the entire right hand corner. Instead, the graphich repositions itself about an inch away from the edge and bottom of the document.
    Failing that, is there a blanket way to scale all items in indesign?

    In regards to the other question I asked though, is it possible to scale all the items on a page by a set amount? Say for instance I have the font too large on all of the pages in the document and the images are also a little oversized, is ther some way I can scale all of the images down a certain percentage without having to go into each item individually?
    Well, kinda. If you select everything on your page at once (or if they're already grouped)  then you can hold down Control, Shift, and Alt while grabbing a corner to resize and it'll maintain all of the ratios, including scaling the font size. You'd only be able to scale one page or spread at a time, but you could do it that way. Alternately, you can place your InDesign document into another InDesign document, where the source InDesign doc will be displayed as an image in the target doc. So, you could scale each page just like an image.
    However, I'm reluctant to advise that you do that - mostly because I don't understand what you're doing. In my understanding, everything outside of the crop marks is literally going to wiind up on the cutting room floor, so the fact that you have content like page numbers in your bleed makes no sense to me. Is it intended for the press operator who's going to be doing the cutting? We can answer your questions, but honestly I think you should describe what you're trying to achieve in the end with a bit more detail, otherwise the forums regulars will answer your questions at face value and maybe help you, or maybe just help you dig a deeper hole for yourself without realizing it.

  • Only the first image of table appears

    Hello,
    my problem concerns dynamically added images in templates designed with Template Builder 5.6 Build 45 for Word 2002 (10.4219.4219) SP-2 and Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2.
    My template includes a simple table with an image field containing an URL. I created a dummy image with alternative text like url:{image_field}. The URL itself exists and works in the browser. Running now the report with example data as XML publisher admin, only the first image appears, followed by all other rows showing the same image. It’s always the first one that is repeated (of course I made sure that each element contains its specific URL). I also tried to use the concatenated string for building the specific URL at runtime, but in vain.
    Is there anybody out there with a good idea?

    I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm having a similar yet different issue with slideshow images.  I have a full screen slideshow on a tablet site with 2 slides in it, but one of them shows up white/blank in preview.  I've ensured both images are in the layers and assets and I've deleted the slideshow and started from scratch twice already.  What's interesting is that if I move the images' order within the slideshow widget in the layers panel, I can see either one, but not both in rotation in the slideshow.  I just did this same slideshow for the mobile version and that works fine, so I'm stumped.

  • Background image vertically distorted -appears ok when paused and restarted

    using 768 x 576 .jpg images as background for a PAL standard idvd:
    - when burned with "PAL"Standard (4:3)" / "professional quality" (movie length is 55 min,)
    - & watching on a laptop/a mac g5 / a windows pc
    the images appeared vertically distorted
    but:
    when pausing and restarting the dvd again the image
    changes to the desired size
    even when i used a quicktime as background movie
    the same problem occurs
    whereas:
    the display on a TV* was fine
    (given that a 4:3 ratio was set for a widescreen tv or using a 4:3 ratio TV)
    when i did not use any image (burning just the movie)
    nothing appeared to be distorted (the movie is not distorted
    neither are the no-images-no-backgrounds-at-all menu screens)
    Is there any specific colour depth or other technical information
    i need to consider to solve this problem?
    ... I noticed that the colour of the image looks significantly different
    on a TV compared to laptop/mac/windows pc
    whereas the movie's colour appears to be quite similar
    on TV/laptop/mac/windows pc ....

    Thank you for trying to help, I really appreciate it.
    It does not matter which option you use. As you know, one would want the background image on each page of a site to be the same size and location to provide a seamless transition from page to page. When using the blank template, the page can have an image put in (using fit, fill, stretch, orig) and be contiguous from page to page. However, when using the Photo template, after clicking on an album image to view larger, the background image unexplicably shifts/distorts downward on the page, and stays that way even upon returning to the album.

  • LR 4 - image does not appear in Preview and will not print`

    The selected image appears on the main/center panel but not in the preview screen.  Printing results in a white sheet of paper with no image at all.  The image has been updated to LR 4 - but made no difference.  I've served help and the forums (where i saw mention of similar problems, but no comments or guidance on the problem).  What am I doing wrong?

    The problem began with the installation of LR4. I print directly from LR4 to my HPZ3100. I routinely select "print preview" in the print dialogue box. Now the first print I see the preview and then it prints. If I select a second print job and use the "print preview" the print preview screen comes up blank and never loads. If I try to delete the print job, it just never responds (resolves) so I have to turn off the computer and the printer and restart to clear the print job. if I don't use the print preview, it prints just fine (except that I'm not able to check what's about to be printed). Thanks for any thoughts you have on this.

    Bill, if this is only happening some of the time, then we are probably looking at a resource issue. Any pattern in when things won't print? e.g. Certain file type won't but others will? Or is it more of a timing/order thing? e.g. First file prints fine, second does not? VStromee, do no files print for you? Or is it like Bill and sometimes the print and other times they do not? Did you install any new software recently or have any updates to the OS or any application that has printing capabilities?

  • Squares appearing over game screens

    I have been running code using a Graphics object for over 2 years now without any problems. I havent used any Graphics2d objects and I use double buffering to paint the objects to the screen.
    I use Netbeans and the game can be launched from the web site using webstart.
    The game gets soundfiles when needed from the web site too.
    For the last week there have been ugly texturedsquares moving all over the game screens. This only happens on my development machine.
    If I copy the dist folder with no changes to another pc it runs without any problems. Similarly when the game is launched with webstart from the web site there are no problems on my other machines.
    The sprites look like they belong to some other game and I have at no time written code like this in any of my applications. There are no viruses or malware on the machine and the caches have been emptied, old java versions uninstalled and Netbeans has been updated to latest version.
    The problems started when I visited an IRC channel and I am sure that somehow, something on my pc was changed. I can find no evidence of this and my code has not changed.
    I use classes that paint themselves using image files mostly but these sprites look like they are being drawn using the Graphics2D class.
    The images seen to appear randomly and they change colour and pattern. They dont appear where a repaint is needed and they are larger than my own sprites,
    Does anyone know how I can detect this problem's source?
    I have been writing the game for over 3 years now and I can see no reason why this is happening.
    I dont want to have to format my development machine but it looks like I might have to.
    I would be really grateful for any help with this!

    Have you recently upgraded to 1.6.0 update 10? Are your graphics drivers up to date?
    I ask because update 10 uses more hardware acceleration, and your issue appears to be a graphics card memory glitch, rather than in the Java application layer.

  • Images don't appear immediately?

    I have an applet with run and stop methods. I load all my images in the init() method. When my applet is ran, some images don't appear right away. You have refresh the browser screen or reload the applet. AFter refreshing, all the images work fine. It's a one time error. I am also using the double buffering. Have you any ideas/guesses y that would be happenin?
    Regards & Thanks,

    P.S: Sry, I didn't post my code, I was hoping this might be sufficient info for help. If not, tell me.

    Complete shot in the dark, but you might try and change the caching option of your browser to "Check for newer version of stored pages: Every visit to the web page". It is possible that you need to add code to the web page to force the browser to not use cached resources. As I mentioned kind of a shot in the dark, but the fact that your images all show up on refresh made me think of this possibility.
