Images in Collection

Most of my images are processed in Lightroom 5 to B&W.   When I attempt to add these to a collection only the original image appears in the collection not the B&W version.  If I further process in Photoshop or NIk and the image is saved as a Tiff linked(stqacked) to the orginal and I try to save it to a collect, again only the orginal shows in the collection.   What am I not doing to make this happen?

Here's two ways:
1. In grid mode (press 'g' key), select them, then press 'Delete'.
2. in loupe view, select them using the filmstrip, then context-click them and choose 'Remove from Collection'.
Definitions: "context-click" - right-click in Windows, ctrl-click on Mac.

  • How do I include an image's collection hierarchy in its name when exported?

    Hi,
    Newbie question - I organize selected images using hierarchies of collections. When I export the images in those collections, I'd like to include the entire collection hierarchy of each image in its exported name.
    For example, if I have a collection hierarchy like the following:
    CollectionSet1
         +CollectionSet2
              +CollectionA
                   Image1
                   Image2
              +CollectionB
                   Image1
                   Image2
         +CollectionSet3
              +CollectionA
                   Image1
                   Image2
              +CollectionB
                   Image1
                   Image2
    And I export the images from CollectionSet2, I'd like the images to have the following names:
         CollectionSet1_CollectionSet2_CollectionA_Image1.jpg
         CollectionSet1_CollectionSet2_CollectionA_Image2.jpg
         CollectionSet1_CollectionSet2_CollectionB_Image1.jpg
         CollectionSet1_CollectionSet2_CollectionB_Image2.jpg
    Is this possible? Or is there a better way (I'm assuming there is ) to structure my images to enable this type of filenaming?
    Also, which is a recommended book regarding in-depth discussion of cataloging and exporting techniques?
    Thanks!

    Unfortunately not. At least not natively for sure. And i haven't heard of any plugins to do that.

    If you mean digital asset management as a whole, then The DAM Book is the undisputable number one. it si not specific to Lightroom, but the fresh 2nd edition has some Lightroom stuff too.

  • How can I add images from collection after the book is saved?

    I am new to the Book module on Lightroom 5. I prepared a rough draft of a book and saved it with the tab on the right hand top of the main screen. Unfortunately, I saved it with the option of only saving the used images from the original collection. Later I brought up the draft book and tried to add some additional images, but see that only the images already used in the book are available on the image strip at the bottom.  I need to get other images which are in the original collection.  Is there any way to do this?  If not, is there a way to save the entire format of the book and then start over with the same format but with the original full collection as the source of images in the bottom strip?

    When you create a saved book, it creates a "Saved Book Collection" in your collections panel with a special "Book" icon. To add pictures to a saved book. Find them in your Grid mode of Library module and drag them into your Saved  Book Collection and they will be available to add back in from the Book Module.

  • Adding images to collections

    Trying to add a .tif image to a collection and when I drag the image into the collection, instead of the tif file appearing (as I want), the .nef (raw) image appears instead. What am I doing wrong? I want the .tif version in the collection. Thanks.

    You are not doin anything wrong. It's LR figuing the same named .nef is the file you want because it see the .tif as a sidecar. If you add even one more letter or number to the name of the tif to further differentiate it from the nef (besides the extension), LR will then let you do it.
    This is why when you edit RAWs in PSCS the edit file (PSD or TIFF) had -edit added into the file name. This a behavior that was un intended it LR hopefull by fixed in a future, yet to be anounced release.

  • Rearranging Images in Collections?

    Does anyone know if there is a way to rearrange images once they are put into a collection? The manual states that collections retain the sort order of how they were originally selected. I want to rearrange them for a better presentation in the web gallery and though rearranging is simple in the main catalog, the Collections don't seem to allow it at all. Any suggestions?

    Currently no sort in parent Collections that also show child selections in them. Was it a parent collection?

  • Any applicable\recommended Group Policy settings (Local & Domain) for configuring windows 8.1 "gold master image" for collection

    Happy Friday everybody -
    I'm working on implementing Microsoft RDS 2012\VDI for the folks here at work.  I've read - online - a lot of articles on VDI and RDS 2012 - and have a working model that is working somewhat satisfactorily.  I haven't seen much online about steps
    I could take in Local Group Policy on my Windows 8.1 'gold image' - or for that matter Domain level group policy - that can assist in creating a better, more reliable/robust Windows 2012 VDI environment.
    Anybody out there got any information or opinions or advice on Group Policy settings for VDI environments?
    Thanks again, everyone!

    Is there anyway that we can create a Template of a Collection Set Structure?
    I have a particular Structure Set that I use for my Collection Sets, and the Collections within them for each time I do a shoot session.
    Is there anyway that I can streamline the process of making these structures instead of doing it one collection at a time?
    I can't seem to find it at the moment. A possibility for the Future?

  • Lr3.5 windows_7 64bit: Problem moving images in Library collections

    I am ruhnning Windows &7 Pro, 64 bit and I'm experiencing inconsistant behavior in Lightroom 3.5 with regard to moving images within collections.  When I try to move an image, to place it in the order inwhich I would like view the sequence, the image is placed at the end of the sequence no matter where I place it initially.  I've tried the filmstrip view and the grid view and it happens in both.  I recall doing this without problems previously however it was in the imported Library not a collection, but why would this be different??  One still needs to reorder images in collections.  I've made certian to change the "sort" option to user each time I've tried to do this.  Any Ideas?  Thanks

    'User order' has some surprises. When it works it can be difficult to appreciate what differs from when it doesn't. Julianne Kost video is a good starting point on what will and won't work with a little on why  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/custom-sort-orders/  . If collections and several folders are involved the work round to meet your goals may include a combination of moves, copies and renaming files (export and re-import even) to create an alphanumeric sort. The 'dumping' at the end of the sequence manifests itself in other situations related to the order status in force at the point when you start moving files.  See http://forums.adobe.com/message/4026355#4026355 which came down to making sure the sort starting point is appropriate
    Good luck

  • Collect a Bing Search Image

    I am trying to collect an image from a bing search.
    I tried the following in the On Select section of the Bing Image Gallery:
    Collect(Collection1, ThisItem)
    Please let me know what I'm doing wrong.
    Thanks!

    My assumption of what you are doing is that you have a gallery of images using the Bing Image Search control and want to add the selected image to a new collection.
    If this is what you are doing, then the onSelect would look like this:
    Collect(col,{image:Gallery1!Selected!MediaUrl})

  • Is there a way to add new photos into an existing collection even though they are located in a different folder in Lightroom?

    I am trying to add my favorite photos  that are currently located in multiple folders in Lightroom into a single Collection and am not able to do so. I also do not understand the concept of a Collection Set, which might be the solution here. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

    A Collection is the way to provide a quick link to any group of images you select. (Maybe ones you want to sent to a printer, or email, etc)
    A Collection does not make a second copy of your images. Collections appear like folders, but the thumbnails in a collection are only "links" to your original images.
    Any Development edits you do to images from a Collection set will show the edits in the Library grid view.
    Collections are great for any projects like a Book, or Slideshow, etc.
    To place image links in a Collection:
    Method 1)   "easy"
    First- (if you have created a collection set by the + on the Collection PANEL HEADER)- Right-click the collection NAME in the Collection Panel and choose "Set as Target Collection".
       This will place a small + sign to the right of the Collection NAME. (you only need to do this once to 'Set as Target')
    Next- (In the library grid view, this can be "All" photographs.!!))- Select one or multiple images, Press the "B" key.
        This will (Bounce, Bump, Bag, Bop) selected images into your "Target Collection"
        So if you select ALL your favourites with ALL photographs visible in grid- you can do it with ONE press of the "B" key.
    Method 2) "almost as easy"
    Select one or multiple images in the Library Grid view.
    Position your mouse cursor in the middle of one of the selected images, hold a left-click and drag your images 'onto' the collection NAME.
    (Note: this does not work if you drag from the border frame of an image.)

  • Payload with images processing

    Hello,
    My problem may be pretty common but i cannot decide on most suitable approach. So i turned to this forum where i always find an answer.
    I have to develop a flow, XML over JMS, to receive a message payload with number of images as base64Binary in specific elements e.g country, city, area
    <Payload>
    <country>
    <element/>
    <element/>
    <Image>EQ==</Image> <!-- Optional -->
    </country>
    <City>
    <element/>
    <element/>
    <CityImages><!-- Optional -->
    <Image>EQ==</Image>
    <Image>EQ==</Image>
    </Image>EQ==</Image>
    </CityImages>
    <Area>
    <element/>
    <element/>
    <Images> <!-- these images are must -->
    <Image1>EQ==</AreaImage1>
    <Image2>EQ==</AreaImage2>
    </Images>
    </Area
    </Payload>
    These images will be stored in a separate system before rest of the payload is forwarded to a different system.
    The system where images needs to be stored expose a web service and will return a unique image reference number for each image we store. Created a XQuery which will wrap all images in collection of documents sent to local service. And second XQuery will go through that collection of document and create a request payload for the image processing service. Second XQuery also assign Id to each image as serial number (1, 2, 3...) in the order they are present in the collection when it processes collection of document. The request to image web service goes as one payload with multiple images e.g. <DataSource><Query><id>1</id><image>EQ==</image></Query><Query><id>1</id><image>EQ==</image></Query></DataSource> with unique id and image content.Response contains Id and image reference number e.g. <QueryResult><result><id>1</id><ref>AB1312</ref><></result><result><id>2</id><ref>AB1124</ref><></result></QueryResult>.
    Images contents in original payload will then be replaced with the reference numbers returned from the images system.
    Now the problems i have is:
    1 - First Xquery which creates document collection goes through the payload and when it finds an image it create a document element but i am unable to generate unique ID, in xquery, for each image found in original payload. Second Xquery goes through document collection and uses 'at $count' in for loop as counter and assign that to Id attribute. Ideally unique id sould be generated in the flow or first xquery, instead of second xquery, some how and used as reference?
    2 - I intend to correlate returned image reference number based on the sequence(assumption) in which image appear in the original payload instead of using any cross refence mechanism.
    I seek guidance on my solution on how best to correlate image reference number with corresponding image in the original payload.
    Many Thanks for help!
    Sall0

    You can use the fn-bea:uuid() xquery function to generate unique id's for each image in the first xquery.
    For correlating the image ref no to the actual image in the payload , what you are following based on sequence looks ok, since there is no reference available for each image on the original payload, kind of using the image index within the original payload looks fine.

  • Displaying images in the JavaHelp Viewer

    I have developed a small help system which works, but images are not displayed in the JavaHelp viewer. They are displayed when I load the .html file into a browser.
    All images are collected into an .images file, and are referenced there. The Map entries for each image resembles the Map entries in the sample, but I believe that none of the images within that directory are being displayed by the javahelp system.

When building the .jar, all files from help, and images are placed directly at the first level of the jar so that the '...="images/..."' reference in the Map will succeed. Yet it does not.

  • Re-image computer with no user interaction at all - SCCM 2012

    I have searched many posts and havent found a clear solution for my question.
    Basically, I have OSD task sequence ready to go on my SCCM 2012 R2. It is fine to run it as "Available".
    If I deploy the OSD through Software Center as "Required" and "ASAP", then I login the client, the client will run OSD task sequence sometime after about 30Min-1 hour later, not sure. And there will be no user interaction needed. However
    this means I need remotely log into each computer to let OSD happen.
    If I deploy the same TASK Sequence as "Required" and "ASAP" through "PXE", it will first ask PXE Password(Which I set in DP->PXE Panel), then I need hit "Next" again to start the assigned OSD, which means I need
    physically go to each computer to do this. (EDIT: If needed, I can remove PXE password and add VB scripts in other Task Sequence, however I want to know if I still need press NEXT to start the OSD).
    The clients are not AMT enabled but Lan Wake up enabled and also can be set to LAN WAKE UP Enabled with boot from LAN. I can wake up/shutdown the whole collection with command if needed.
    Is there a way that I can Re-image one collection of Computers without any interaction on client side?
    The other question is how long to wait for OSD when it is set to "ASAP"?
    RockyOZ

    Guess I just answered question myself. With PXE Password removed, the OSD runs without user interaction. Thanks. I will add the password in task sequences instead.

    For grub it is recommended to use a grub boot partition.
    You can use syslinux for installing to a partition.

      So I wonder if it is normal, as this new version of Archboot seems to provide...netctl :-)

    You need to setup your connection with installer and choose autoconfiguration yes on system configuration.
