I have a client server report which contains a gif.
When I genereate the report as a HTML email, the
gif image does not appear (The email & gif files
are copied to the Outlook express folder on the
client machine).
The image is displayed fine when I generate to
HTML File.
Can anyone tell me why the images is not displayed in
the HTML email,
Many Thanks,
John

Hello ,
I tried with a simple report which contains a gif image . When the report is sent as an html email ( in a client-server config ) , I can see the email fine with the image in my netscape client .
So this could be a problem with email client also .
Can you please try with netscape client ( Netcape 7.0 preferably ) and let us know ?
Thanks ,

  • EPrint image in (HTML) e-mail

I'm using the HP Deskjet 3053A All-In-One Printer to print on a remote site.
The printing is done by sending an email from an allowed emailaddress to the address of the printer.
The email has been made in HTML with markup like an (header)image, tables, colored background in table cells.
Everthing is printed, except the image.
When checking the email in my webclient (ie Gmail) I need to allow the image to be shown.
Is this the problem with printing? Is there a filter which blocks images which are called with an URI?

    Hi fortissimo,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that an email you send to the Deskjet 3053A printer did not print an image.
You are correct, the HP ePrint servers will not print anything called by the URL. HP ePrint supports image and file types. I've included the ePrint Job Did Not Print document for your reference.  You can find the information in the sub-section "The email attachments are not supported by ePrint".

  • Prevent iPhone Mail from loading images in HTML e-mails

    Hello there!
Is it possible to prevent iPhone Mail from loading images in e-mails?
If yes, where can I change those settings?
    Cheers,
    Thomas

Ian, thanks for your quick reply.
I just hope Apple is going to build this feature into one of the next firmware updates, since from my point of view this is not only a security concern, but could turn out quite expensive if you are on a bad price plan.

    Nurit,
The point is that that button should not be there, if the preference setting is as you say. This indicates the preference setting is stuck, and that is what I was trying to help you resolve.
The full purge is done as follows:
Quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder. Control-click over the Mail folder, and choose Duplicate -- then drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup. Next, open Home/Library/Preferences and find the com.apple.mail.plist file and drag it to the desktop.
Relaunch Mail, which will open as though new, and when prompted to import anything DECLINE. Instead, re-enter your account info, and Mail will re-discover the account folders for your accounts, and all should be well, after setting preferences as you desire.
Ask any needed questions, and keep us posted.

  • Display image in html mail

I was recently sent an email that used an HTML stationery wih several photos embedded in it.  The email opens normally, but all of the images are icons, displaying file name and size.  If I click the icon, the image opens correcly in a separate window.
I am running OS X 10.7.3 and Mail 5.2 (1257) and have checked "display remote images in html email" in preferences.  A friend with identical software versions receives the same email and the photos are visible in the original email. Suggestions?

No-one replied, but I found a solution on another board. Run Terminal (do a Spotlight search if you don't know where to find this), and type: (or copy and past the next line)
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool false
This will force Mail not to disable inline attachment viewing. Obviously, to reverse this, simple replace 'false' at the end with 'true'.
Thanks to Louise101 from July 2011 for posting this.

Plug your phone into the wall charger for at least 30 minutes...make sure you have a sim card in the phone...then:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.
Make sure you have no anti-virus software running or any firewalls...turn all of that stuff off.

  • HTML images not showing in Mail

I've noticed that my images in emails are not loading in 3G or wifi mode. I've checked all settings and rebooted with the same results.
Anyone else experiencing anything similar? I've checked all the server and general mail settings. Gmail fetch/push address.
    Thanks.

    HI Trayce,
Open Mac Mail then from the menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the Viewing tab.
Select: Display remote images in HTMl messages
Connect your iPad to your Mac. In the iTunes window under the Info tab, scroll down to: Advanced.
Select Mail Accounts. Then click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.
Restart your iPad. Hopefully images will load on your e-mail.
Also, on your iPad. Tap Settings / Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. On the right make sure: Load Remote Images is turned on.

  • How to Prevent Downloading Images in HTML Mail?

Is there an option to prevent the downloading of images in HTML emails? If not, is there a way to view all emails as text-only?

    No to both questions.
There is a message preview function with the following options:
    None
    1 Line
    2 Lines
    3 Lines
    4 Lines
    5 Lines
The preview function does not open the message. If you select a message to open/view the message, any embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed included with HTML formatting will be rendered.

  • Images not showing in Mail, just generic JPG icon...

I have this problem with Mail (v3.6, Leopard 10.5.8) not displaying images in html messages anymore. The problem is mostly with the emails i'm sending. Back on Tiger, you could drag and drop an image and it would show inline right there where your cursor would be in the message. Now it goes at the bottom, showing the generic Preview.app JPG icon with the name and size of the file underneath the icon. If I try to compose a message using on of Apple's stationaries, half of the images are not showing, instead once again giving me the generic icon. I do have the option of displaying HTML images turned on in the prefs. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here it is :
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/25424/mail_problem.jpg
If I send this to friends, half of them get a correct looking email while the other half gets missing images where the original image was showing as an icon for me. Trying to save the email message as a PDF will have missing images too.
    What's going on here? Thanks!!!

Same problem here. Some background images show up, top, bottom and corner images not. Opening the 'content.html' file in Safari: no problem.
    No idea what's going on.

  • MIME Multipart/related to embed images in html files - Servlet

    Hello,
My goal is to embed images in html/xhtml files to decrease latency when using slow networks. Think about mobile phones, if I have 10 images in one page, I will have 11 requests/responses to get the whole page.
The solution would be to embed all images using Content-type multipart/related, so I have one request to the whole pack.
How to do that in java? I mean, I need to set the content-type and build all parts encoding the images to base64.
I tried JavaMail API, there I can build messages like this and instead of send an e-mail, I can write:
    myMimeMultipart.writeTo(response.getOutputStream());
The problem is: I am getting everything as text in my browser, including the MIME headers of each part. Another think is that the first header (the main one) doesn't appear too.
    Any thoughts/other ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andr Carlucci

If memory serves me right, I believe in the Servlet spec you have access to the Response object. You "should" be able to set any headers you need there. In addition, you can get the output streams just as you described.
I did a similar thing, although slightly modified, to output dynamically-generated XLS (Excel Spreadsheet) files using a reporting engine called JasperReports. It wasn't a multipart response, however, so you may need to figure out how to handle that part of it, but in my case I set the mime-type header, then grabbed the output and started writing my XLS file too it. Once done, you close the streams and return the response. Worked perfect.

  • Missing images in Safari and Mail

Ever since upgrading to Lion earlier this year I have noticed a problem with images in Mail and Safari. I'm now on ML (10.8.2) and the problem persists. Hopefully someone can suggest a solution as it's slowly driving me a bit crazy.
In Mail, when I view an HTML email with images for the first time there is usually one image showing as missing/unloaded (little blue square with a question mark). Just one, and usually one near the top i.e. one of the first images on the page. If I refresh, e.g. view another email then instantly return to the first email, all the images are there. 'Display remote images in HTML messages' is ticked and always has been.
There is a similar problem in Safari. I load a webpage and there is usually at least one image missing/unloaded. Refreshing the page will fix the missing image. Sometimes it's the CSS file that doesn't load leaving an unformatted page, but it's more common with images. I looked in the 'Error Console' today and the error I get for the missing items is "Failed to load resource: The operation couldn’t be completed. Invalid argument".
After the problem started I switched to Chrome and never had the problem once, but I prefer Safari and would like to switch back. I presume the almost identical issue with Mail means that they are somehow linked.
Anyone have the same issue, or any ideas as to what might be causing it?

I think I've narrowed this down to the AVG Linkscanner. Turned it off and all images are present and correct.

  • Turn off HTML e-mail

HTML e-mail is all very well but, when abroad, it would be much more convenient (not to say cheaper) if my iPhone only received the text content of the e-mail (no formatting, no images, nothing except a link to the download if required). Is it possible to enable this function? Or am I going to have to return my iPhone and go back to my Blackberry in order to save money? Or is Apple going to enable this function in the next update (if it doesn't exist already)?

It is not possible, so return your iPhone to Apple.

  • Why are blue questions marks coming up where images should be in Mail, and in Safari.

I have reset safari and my wifi? I have a iMac if that helps. IF you have any idea please help me.

For Mail. From the Mail menu bar click Mail > Preferences then select the Viewing tab.
Select:  Display remote images in HTML messages
For Safari. If you see Develop in your Safari menu bar between Bookmarks and Window, click Develop.
If Disable Images is checked, click there once to uncheck.

  • Viewing HTML on Mail

Some incoming emails have the comment that Mail is not currently configured to show HTML. Under Mail>preferences>view I have checked the box display remote images in HTML. How do I correct this without having to go to a web link to read the message in HTML?
    Thanks,

Some incoming emails have the comment that Mail is not currently configured to show HTML.
I've never seen such a message. Can you post the exact message?
Under Mail>preferences>view I have checked the box display remote images in HTML.
Bad, bad idea! Putting remote images in messages has legit uses, but it's also a trick used by spammers to verify your address. You open the message, it requests an image with a unique name keyed to your address, thus "phoning home" and telling the spammer that you looked at their message. Which will encourage them to send you lots more! I get HTML e-mails frequently, and having this box unchecked does not affect how they display (other than showing a blank space where the image would be).

  • No images showing in Mavericks MAIL

In Mavericks 9.0.1 MAIL, I can't see any images in HTML emails - only attachment images. I have selected MAIL Preferences/Viewing/Display remote images in HTML messages.

I found a solution here and it worked for me. It doesn't go back to old messages that are already in your inbox and correct the issue, but any new messages that come in will show images:
