Well you would need to provide a link to the page in
question. If there
is a fault it will be in the code and that's what someone
would need to
look at to give you any advice as to why this may be
happening.

Distorted images in internet explorer, chrome, and firefox
Hello everyone.
it's my first time writing in a forum.i have just bought a dell notebook inspiron 15 which i upgrated from windows 8 to windows 8.1. (First time working with windows 8.) i'm having distorted images at some sites, double or blurry either in internet explorer
firefox or chrome. also very often i'm getting an error message that the web page cannot be viewed(in explorer) and in firefox that i should communicate with the web page in order to inform them that . when i refresh the page loads normally..so why does that
happen..is there a problem with the browsers or are the websites outdated?
In addition, web players other than youtube, like for example JWplayer start playing for a moment and then stop. After refreshing they stop at the same spot. i have the latest update of adobe flash and no problem with my internet connection.
thank you in advance
Anna, Greece
p.s i should note that i'm not very used in computer language so a simple explanation will be very welcomed. :)Hi,
This pages all display fine in my PC, for IE, you can click Tools\Internet Options\Advanced, then under "Accelerated graphics" enable or disable hardware acceleration to check for hardware or software compatibility issues with viewing certain Internet websites.
Or under "Multimedia", enable automatic image resizing, check the result.
or clear browser history, temporary internet files, tools\internet options\general\delete... or reset IE as a test.
These are solutions for IE, since this issue happend on all browsers, I guess that it might be related with your video card--hardware device, if so, it's recommended to take this pc to a local shop to repair it.

Unwanted gaps between images in Internet Explorer
I have sliced a image web page in Photoshop and exported it
to .html and images. It looks perfect in IE7 and Firefox. Then
brought it into Dreamweaver and deleted the large image in the
content area and inserted a table into the content area. Now when I
preview it in IE7 there is a gap between the top image and the two
images on either side of the content area. Borders for all three
images is set to zero as are cell padding etc. It displays
correctly in Firefox and Dreamweaver but IE7 places a gap between
the images. How do I remove the gap using HTML tables?>I have sliced a image web page in Photoshop and exported
it to .html and
> images.
That's a bad start. The HTML written by graphics apps (and
indeed by any
'wizard') is fragile, and unsuitable for any use other than
prototyping.
> Now when I preview it in IE7 there is a gap between the
top image
> and the two images on either side of the content area.
This is precisely the symptom of having used a graphics app
to write your
HTML. Why? You have changed the ground rules (i.e., the shape
of the
content) by deleting the large image and replacing it with a
table. When a
wizard writes your HTML, it writes it to EXACTLY reproduce
the shape you
have given it. Change that shape and you change the way the
fragile code
adapts - resulting in a breakage of your layout.
The principal culprit is the use of col- and rowspans by
these wizards -
... colspan="3">
You can read more about this here -
http://apptools.com/rants/spans.php
The solution is to bite the bullet and learn enough HTML that
you can create
your own layouts without relying on a graphics app. Otherwise
you will
have this problem continuously.
1. When I need to merge cells...
a. If they are horizontally adjacent, instead of merging
them, I end
the current table, and 'stack' a new one underneath it with
the desired cell
configuration.
b. If they are vertically adjacent, then I end the current
table at the
row ABOVE the row where the need for merging begins. I then
start a new
table with two cells in one row, and place a properly
structured inner table
in each of those two cells.
2. When I need to split cells, I just insert a nested table
with the proper
cell configuration into the cell I would otherwise split.
The goal here is to completely avoid merging or splitting
cells (i.e., using
col- or rowspan attributes in your table markup), since
that's what makes
Layout mode's tables (and any wizard's tables) so fragile.

I can't drag and drop images from Internet Explorer anymore?
Whenever I would add album art, I'd find it on a website and drag the image directly from the website into the CD album art (from Get Info) and it would work. Now, I cannot do this in the new iTunes 8 version. I don't even know why I upgrade anymore because all Apple does is remove simple functionality that should work in every version.
I haven't tried any manual album artwork since updating to iTunes 8. I do remember in the past that there were some websites that I seemed to not be able to drag images from. I usually rely on Amazon.com for my album artwork that is not in iTunes.
Where are you dragging the files to in iTunes? In the Get Info pane, or in the lower left-hand corner of iTunes? You might want to try the one you're not using, just to see if there's a difference.

Slideshow widgets work in Safari but not in Internet Explorer.
I have tried both the Spry Image Slideshow with Filmstrip and the Spry Image Slideshow - Basic. They work well in Safari but they skip images in Internet Explorer. I am using the default widgets in each instance. In IE only the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th slides display and they do so without any real transitions. I haven't tried other browsers yet. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I'm having a similar issue. The Spry Slideshow - Basic widget works great in Firefox, but won't work in IE8.

Quicktime grabs Vista file associations in Internet Explorer (TIFF etc.)
Hi all,
I have a problem with Quicktime 7.6 and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows Vista - maybe someone here knows a fix? I've tried everything I could think of ... to no avail... Many thanks in advance for any hints!
Trouble is:
After installing iTunes 8.1.1 including QuickTime, whenever opening a TIF image in Internet Explorer 8, QuickTime will display it. I don't want that, I need to set a different application to open TIF files or to have Internet Explorer ask me whether I want the file displayed or download it.
This is extremely annoying, since our HTTP scan server (HP) sends its files as TIF directly to the browser, so there is now link to the file to right-click on and chose "save as". Before installing iTunes/QuickTime, Internet Explorer asked me where I wanted to have the file saved - now it just displays the image using the QuickTime plugin and I can't save it anymore.
I tried to right-click the image in the QuickTime display, it tells me I would need to buy QT Pro to save a copy.
I opened QuickTime's options and disabled TIF and TIFF both in file types and in MIME types.
Result: nothing; still IE8 displays TIF with QuickTime.
I right-clicked on a TIF file on the harddisk, chose properties and changed the program with which to open the file (first Acrobat, than tried Windows image viewer, then Photoshop...).
Result: nothing; still IE8 displays TIF with QuickTime. (When I open a TIF from a folder on the harddisk, Vista opens it in the program I specified - but any TIF within IE8 is still displayed with QuickTime).
I opened Vista's control panel and set the standards for file type TIF/TIFF to a different programm.
Result: no change, within IE8 any TIF image is still displayed using the QT plugin.
I used Internet Explorer's Add-On settings to disable the QuickTime plugin.
Result: any TIF image is displayed as a red X, it doesn't ask me what to do with it or where to save it.
What can I do?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance!
Best wishes
FrankI used this link for tiff http://www.nrl.navy.mil/content.php?P=IMAGES
QT was opening the tiff files. When going into the QT control panel Browser>Mime settings>Images-Still image files I was able to uncheck tiff, which held. I was also able to uncheck all the file types under File Types tab(Images-Still image files) in the QT control panel. However the preference would not hold. Went into Start>Set Program Access and Defaults that also was of no help.
The only way I was able to get QT to release the tiff's from the website I posted was to go into the Folder Options control panel for File Types and change the tif & tiff from QT picture viewer to windows picture and fax viewer.
So not sure why the QT control panel will not respond, there are other file types in the Folder options control panel on this computer other than tiff's that are still associated to QT, but didn't try changing them, perhaps that needs to be done?
Good post I didn't realize this before reading your post, if I come across anything further I'll post back. -
When I use Firefox the images and logos don't show up clearly/correctly. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro. and just installed Firefox 3.6.6. I'm sure I have the right graphics driver as I'm able to see the images and logos clearly in Internet Explorer. I only have the "default plugin 1.0.0.15" installed. I'm thinking that I'm missing a plugin or add-on of some sort, but I'm not sure which one(s). When I go to "updates" it says there were no updates available. When I go to "Add-ons" it gives a list of Add-ons but I'm not sure which would help my issue. Any help would be appreciated.:)

Image placeholder not working in internet explorer
I'm using DreamweaverMX and I used the swap image behavior to make thumbnails appear in a larger placeholder below. When I load the site in Firefox the thumbnails come up and when you click them it displays properly below. However when I open it in internet explorer the placeholder shows up on the screen prior to clicking thumbnails with a red X in the corner. This is a problem because there is more than one placeholder for the different orientations and they are showing up on the page. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
That is correct behavior for IE - unlike FF, it will display the broken image icon when the image is missing.
You might consider simply starting with a transparent.gif which you dimension the the needed size.

Strange image-cacheing in Internet-Explorer with Java1.5-Applet
I have written a Java-Applet for showing image-slideshows.
In short words, the applet loads an image, scales it to screen-size,
and loads the next image when one clicks on the applet.
The applet causes a problem in MS Internet Explorer. The memory allocated by an image is never freed. After about 30-40 images, more tham 100MB are allocated by the JVM and the JVW crashes throwing an OutOfMemoryError.
The same Applet runs fine on Netscape and Mozilla. Here, the memory allocated is always between 8 and 25 MB, even after sliding through hundreds of images.
Some more coordinates:
The applet is written in Java1.5 source code. My test-system is a P4 with Windows XP SP2. I have tried out Sun's JVM 1.5.0_03 and BEA's JVM JRockit 1.5.0_02 as browser-plugins, both cause the same problem in MS-IE6.
I have tried to replace Applet.getImage() by com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGCodec.decodeAsBufferedImage() - same results.
I have tried to flush any loaded images explicitely in the Applet.stop()-method, but no effort.
The images are definitely not stored in some static containers inside my applet. The problem occurs on the level of the JVM/browser-constellation.
Now my question: Is there any trick to affect the cacheing-mechanisms of the JVM? Image.flush() does not solve the problem.
Is this a Java1.5 bug? Or a MS-IE bug?
Is there anything that I did not consider?

Sample code:
<a href="facebook"><div class="fb"><img src="Facebook.png" /></div></a>
The link links to another HTML in my siteIf you anticipate having more questions, a great self help is to validate your code, that is, test your code against the rules set for the particular DOCTYPE you are using.

"you have attempted to put a block-level element (such as "<p>" or "<table>") inside an inline element (such as "<a>", "<span>", or "<font>").
In this case it would have pointed out that you can't put a <div> inside an <a>.
