Images in Report Builder 6i

I am using the Oracle Report Builder version 6i . I am unable to display images in the generated reports in RTF (Rich Text Format) . I was suggested by someone to download a patch to ugrade the reports builder to version 6.0.8.15.1 which is reports 6i with patchset 6 or 7 .
I would like to know whether by using this patch , can I still display multilingual (Japanese) data on the report along with the image .

Hi
Please contact Oracle Support to get the latest patch 6.0.8.19 and apply it

  • Displaying images in report builder

    aoa to all!
Dear gurus, i want to develop such type of report in report builder 6i.
    empno employee name emp photo
1 abc (here i want to show photo)
i have build such report but the problem is when any employee who has no photo, i want to display default photo. i m displaying photo using the below steps
    1. create a formula column of type char which returns the path of emp photo like this ' return 'd:\photo\' || :empno || '.gif';
2.create a field in layout and set the read from file property set to yes and format to image.
my requirement is when a new employee record is entered into table emp but his photo is not currently in the directory then i want to display a logo.
hope my question is clear. thanks in advance. plz reply a.s.a.p

    Asim
in your select statement you can check if the employee has not its picture or picture field is null then return logo. for this you have to assign some default value to the field Like 'N' is default value for picture field so when there is not picture or field is null then 'N' will be its default value and you can check in your query like
    SELECT DECODE(pict, 'N',Logo,pict)                    FROM emp

  • Dynamic images in CF report builder 7

    Hi :-)
Im pulling my hair out over an issue with cfreport builder 7
and the abillity to dynamically display images.
I can display images dynamicaly fine using this method:
    application.coverimage & "/" & query.image
The problem is ive no idea how to say " if there is no image
    available then display noimage.jpg"
ive played with the iif and fileexists functions but cant
seem to get it to work within the report builder.
If using cf report builder 8 the answer is simple, you can
change an attribute of the image to say "on error do not display
image" but i really need to do this with CF7.
    Can anyone help please? :-)

I just found this solution and it helped me, and then I found a nice way to show your "noimage.jpg". You make a report function which sets a persistent variable containing the path to your image (I use the Request scope, so "Request.imagePath" for example). The variable is set to your "noimage.jpg" if it can't find the image path. You can pass parameters to the function from your query, if you wish. The function itself always returns "true". Call this function in the "Print when" property (remember, it's always true so it will always show), and the persistent variable is used as the image path. That way you can have your proper image or your default image show.
I almost gave up on the CF Report Builder -- the report functions made it cool enough to keep using.

  • JSP graph image works in Reports Builder but not in JDev9i

    Robin,
None of these changes work. What else should I check?
    In the rwservlet.properties file (not rwserver.properties **)
    I changed #IMAGEURL=http://<web_server_name>:<port_num>/reports/rwservlet
    to IMAGEURL=C:\Oracle\Oracle9iDS2\reports\cache\
    or
    IMAGEURL=http://<web_server_name>:<port_num>/servlet/oracle.reports.rwclient
    .RWClient
    [IMAGEURL=http://163.249.38.151:8988/servlet/oracle.reports.rwclient.RWClient]
    [IMAGEURL=http://163.249.38.151:8888/servlet/oracle.reports.rwclient.RWClient]
Would my localhost name and http port be the in-process JDeveloper OC4J listener?
Also my ports keep being reassigned (up one number) when I terminate the embedded OC4J server and run the JSP again. (That is what you meant by restart the server, right?) from 8988 to 8989 to 8990 etc.
    John Williams
    Hi John,
The reason that you aren't seeing that graph in JDeveloper is that rwservlet
isn't available with the JDeveloper in-process OC4J listener. The OC4J
listener is the minimum requirement. In addition, Reports forces the graph
to be retrieved via the Reports server for security reasons. Ie: you
shouldn't be able to get at graph images simply by knowing their URL. In
the Reports builder environment, security is not the issue so there is a
    direct reference to the file.
Now, when you're running from JDeveloper, you need to tell Reports how it
should configure the URL. Reports runs in a secure mode by default to
retrieve the images and, since JDeveloper is calling it as a through a Web
listener, it is responding to a normal request and hence forcing the image
    to be retrieved via rwservlet.
To tell Reports to access images directly or through another listener, you
need to alter the %ORACLE_HOME%\reports\conf\rwserver.properties file and
uncomment and change the following line: **
    #IMAGEURL=http://<web_server_name>:<port_num>/reports/rwservlet
    to
    IMAGEURL=C:\Oracle\Oracle9iDS2\reports\cache\
    Or
    IMAGEURL=http://<web_server_name>:<port_num>/servlet/oracle.reports.rwclient
    .RWClient
Where <web_server_name> and <port_num> are the values of the in-process
    JDeveloper OC4J listener.
You will need to re-start the Reports server. This should generate the
appropriate link to the image when run from JDeveloper.
When you deploy your application through a standard iAS OC4J instance
containing the Reports Servlet, this IMAGEURL entry should again be
commented out. Since the servlet is available in this iAS OC4J instance,
the images will appear when referenced through rwservlet.
    Robin.
When I leave the server parameter attribute out my GraphReport.jsp runs
from JDev9i (using the same server as Reports Builder). The only thing
missing now is the graph after my report. It shows up as a small square
    image tag.

I found out the answer to both of my problems.
    1) for the missing graph image
In the documentation link below I found a pdf file that gave the details.
In the rwservlet.properties file in the IMAGEURL attribute
the part that was missing is after the port #.
    IMAGEURL=http://<host>:<port>/<Workspace>-<Project>-context-root
    /servlet/oracle.reports.rwclient.RWClient
    2) for the port conflict - switch from the 'ojvm' virtual machine to 'hotspot'
so that the embedded OC4J server is killed when it is terminated.
I found these answers under Oracle Technology Network > documentation

    1.19 Oracle JDeveloper Integration
1.19.2 Graph Not Appearing in Oracle JDeveloper
When running a JSP report with the rw:graph tag in Oracle JDeveloper, the image is not visible in the browser. To fix this problem, set the IMAGEURL in the rwservlet.properties file in ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf:
    IMAGEURL=http://<host>:<port>/<Workspace>-<Project>-context-root
    /servlet/oracle.reports.rwclient.RWClient
    1.19.3 Reports In-process Server
If the Java Virtula Machine (JVM) is set to ojvm, minimal, or vanilla in Oracle JDevelopers Virtual Machine settings (Project Settings -> Runner -> Virtual Machine), the rwservlet's in-process server is not killed when JDevelopers embedded OC4J server is terminated. As a result, a port conflict occurs the next time that OC4J is started.
To avoid this problem, do one of the following:
Set the JVM to Java Virtual Machine to hotspot.
Disable the in-process server in ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf/rwservlet.properties and
use the standalone Reports Server instead.

  • Dynamically passing text and url-based images as an input parameter to cf8 report builder

I'm unsuccessfully trying to dynamically pass text and url-based images to a group footer or the detail section via an input parameter or even hardcoded. The field has the attribute 'XHTML Text Formating' set to True. The following are failed samples of a simplified value:
    "<img height=’300’ alt=’Document’ width=’300’ src=’http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif’ />"
    or
    "<img src=’http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif’ />"
This just results in the above text being output. The end result would have various text and images from a database as input by a user, thus the reason I cannot just use the hyperlink information attribute as I could if it were a single known image. I tried rtf and pdf report types. Ideas?

    HTH,
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind, although I don't know how many images my user might need or what sizes so that might be tricky.
Since my target output is rtf so that MS Word can be used to edit the result, I added a pagebreak to a MS Word doc and used the resulting html source to replace the rich text editor source code for the page break, but that did not help either. The page break was so a user could add an image later. Something is wrong with the Report Builder related to intepreting XHTML, especially anything that has an attribute, including URL-based image links. I hope they try to provide another update before CF9. I doubt my client will be going to CF9 for some time, since they are just completing the migration to CF8.

  • Error: "file not found" when try to display image on report

    Dear All
I have a problem when running my report.
My Table emp_info Stores all data about employees in addition to the employee image path.
I made a report that display employee information including its photo.
I run my report passing the parameter p_emp_id to display the desired emploree information.
I made a field on the report to display the employee image
and i set its property READ FROM FILE = YES and FILE FORMAT=IMAGE
    But the following error occurs
    "File '\\iai3\iaigc\ALL\emp_images\51.JPG' not found. "
I'm sure that the path is correct
But i do not know why the report stops and can not read the image path.
    My platform is:
Oracle application server installed on linux
and oracle report builder installed on widows for development

    Dear aweiden
    thanks for replaying
I belive you are right . I think the problem is in the path.
But there is something that i did not mentioned to you. I work on two different servers.
1- "iai2" : Linux server which contains oracle application server.
2- "iai3" Windows 2003 server which contained oracle database 10g and the folder "aigc\ALL\emp_images" which contains Employees images
I think that the problem is that Linux server can not understand the path "\\iai3\iaigc\ALL\emp_images\51.JPG".
Do you have any idea how the path should be changed so that Linux can recognizes it.
    Thanks in advance

  • Report Builder 3.0 - Not enough storage is available to process this command

I have a customer who uses Report Builder to create adhoc reports against a SQL data warehouse.  However, users intermittently encounter the exception "Not enough storage is available to process this command", which appears to relate
    to creating/drawing the report.
It would appear that a user can define the required Report SQL, run the report and export it to Excel.  However, on occasions, when the user reviews/amends the report SQL, or specify a new value for a existing report parameter, and then try to run the
report, they get an exception, as per the snippet below:-
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Not enough storage is available to process this command
at System.Drawing.BufferedGraphicsContext.CreateCompatibleDIB(IntPtr hdc, IntPtr hpal, Int32 ulWidth, Int32 ulHeight, IntPtr& ppvBits)
       at System.Drawing.BufferedGraphicsContext.CreateBuffer(IntPtr src, Int32 offsetX, Int32 offsetY, Int32 width, Int32 height).
The error can also occur after trying to re-export the report to excel. In this case the export works.
In all cases, the user is given the option to continue or quit, but clicking continue just causes the error to be re-displayed so the user has to quit Report Builder and re-open it..
We have monitored the user's resources (citrix session) and they are not using all their RAM or temporary folder space.

    Hi jocelyn,
As per my understanding, you got the error on occasions when you change the parameters to run the report, export it to excel or preview the report, right?
Did your report have large amount of rows or columns or did you have image or chart in the report? Did this issue happened on the other reports too?
Your issue can be caused by many factors:
If you have some image or chart in the report. Based on the callstack crashing at System.Drawing, it looks like GDI+ may be a problem. Make sure you have the latest updates installed for GDI+. The interaction of the content of the report with GDI+
may also be something to investigate. If you have many images in the report, each image is a distinct GDI object and could potentially cause a problem.
It also probably running out of space on your computer, so you may need to check the space on your c: drive. If you are running out space, you can try to reboot the computer or delete a few things or somehow getting a bigger hard drive to check the
    issue again.
If the issue only happend on this report, I recommend you to recreate an same report to have a test.

  • Bug in PDF generation with Report Builder CF8

    Hello
there is a bug in the calculation of the left margin of a
    page.
I upgraded from MX 7.02 to CF8. My "old" Reports worked fine,
but when I export them to PDF an print them the left margin is
    different.
I'm using metric settings in the Report Builder. I created a
new Report with Left Margin 2 cm and a single Field with the left
Property = 1 cm (0.9879 cm). The printed paper with these poperties
where fine. I could measure appoximatly 3cm . But if I use Report
Left Margin = 1.27 cm and Field left Property = 0.35cm. The left
margin of the printed paper is only 1.1cm.
So it depends on the choosen Values of report left margin and
the left property of a field.
Does anybody else have the same problem?

I found this posting as I have now "rediscovered" this issue. I came to the same conclusion - edit ALT TEXT for every image.
However, I think it is confusing that these paths of image file are not considered Personal Information that can be removed using the Inspect Document feature (I tried - was not successful). The list of things to be removed using this wizard is quite extensive
    - and some of them less visible than these file paths.
It would be interesting to know if this is going to change with future updates of Word. Why is an ALT TEXT included at all per default? I think using the file path in ALT TEXT should be made optional. Is there a way to turn off this default embedding of
    the full path?
As the OP I also used Office 2013 on Windows 7 64bit.

  • Registration of several reference images in a test image using vision builder

I have downloaded the trial version of vision builder, and I am attempting a test to determine if it's worth buying:
I would like to determine the position and orientation of two reference parts within a set of test images.  I am able to load the reference images, obtain the grayscale, perform appropriate filters, determine their global orientation based on some straight lines, and select the desired ROI's that I would like to match up.  I am also able to load in a test image, take the grayscale, and filter it.  My state diagram has three heads with the three loading steps that converge. This all seems to be great, but how do I find the position and orientation of the reference ROI's within the test image?
I would like to use something like the geometric matching tool, but it only seems to work on using a part of a first image on subsequent images in the same folder.  I suppose I could use my reference as the first image in the folder, then loop through the remaining ones, but...
Once I find the position and orientation of the first reference in the test image, I would then like to find the position and orientation of the second reference in the same test image, then report values like relative distances and angles between these found references.
Does this mean I need two folders, with their own reference image and the same set of test images?  Would I combine the geometric matching results using some variables or math functions?
What is the best way to perform this image registration in vision builder?

    RSFree101,
Thank you for your interest in Vision Builder AI.  If I understand what you are trying to do, you are looking to compare the position locations of two separate parts in an image.  We have a tool that does this very well.  If you use the pattern matching to find both instances of the part, you should be able to determine the distance and angle between them relatively easily.  To do this, you will need to find an edge in between the two so that you can justify the angle between them, and then simply use a few Geometry functions to actually find the angle.  To record this information, you can simply use a Data Logging step to write your findings to file.
If you are looking for a more complete analysis on how you might be able to do this, you will need the Vision Assistant on your computer (if you do not have it already, you can get it by downloading a free trial of our Vision Development Module).  In the Vision Assistant splash screen, click on the Solution Wizard.  This pulls up a menu.  From there, go to Tutorial » Bracket Inspection.  Click Load Solution.  If you step through that example, this displays how to do what you are looking to do with the Vision Assistant, but it should be no different at all in Vision Builder AI.  Hopefully this helps.

  • Displaying image in report DESFORMAT ='SPREADSHEET' (Excel)

    Hi,
I want to display a logo in Excel report. I have created one formula column with function
    function CF_4Formula return Char is
    begin
    return('/report/xls/gelogo_new.bmp');
    end;
I have placed the image in the above path. When I execute the report image is not appearing in it.
    What could be the issue?
Below is the code in After Parameter form Trigger.
    :DESTYPE = 'FILE'
    :DESNAME := '/report/stg/'||:p_report_name||'_'||:p_calendar_month||:p_calendar_year||'.xls';
    :DESFORMAT: 'SPREADSHEET'
Also please tell me how to set/see the default directory of REPORTS_PATH in Unix server.
Can anyone please help me out with this issue.
    Thanks,
    Kishore.

Thanks for the response. Sadly yes, the path is correct. I've
tried both the relative path and the full path (e.g.
    ../images/theimage.jpg and
    http://mysite.com/images/theimage.jpg)
. Putting either address into a browser will return the correct
image if I'm in the right location.
So, I can get this expression: IIf(query.image NEQ "",
    DE("../images/smProds/" & query.image), DE("None")) to display
the correct path, but what I really need is the image located at
that spot to display in the report. What is happening is that
report builder is returning the string, but not the image. When I
looked at the tutorial it implied that the image would be displayed
    rather than the string.
Is there something in report builder that determines whether
the actual image is displayed? A property setting that I'm missing?
Or maybe the expression iteself is wrong i.e. it is doing exactly
what it should (display the string) and a different expression
format is required to get the image iteself. For example, flagging
some text as a hyperlink to the image? Not sure how you would pass
the image name value in that case.
    Appreciate your suggestions.

  • Displaying image in report

I'm new to CF Report Builder and having trouble determining
how to get a dynamic image to display in the detail band. The query
for the report correctly returns the image file name, but the
following expression doesn't display the image although the path is
    correct.
    IIf(query.image NEQ "", DE("../images/smProds/" &
    query.image), DE("None"))
When I run the report, I get just .. in the space where the
image should display if one is available and the text "None" if the
field is empty. I found a tutorial on Report Builder that suggested
using similar code, but it didn't provide an actual example. Using
their code produced the same lack of results.
I've tried various versions of this with no success yet. Am I
missing something about how to include an image in the report? A
static image in the report uses the same basic path information. Of
course that image name and path aren't being generated from an
expression, it is just an inserted image and it shows up in the
header and footer bands as expected.
    Thanks for any guidance.
