Images locked by default.

Whenever I open a new image in Photoshop It is locked by default. So my question is. how can I disable this?

I second Noel on this. Your JPG opens as a background layer within PS - hence the lock.
Two ways to get around this to 'unlock' if that's what you want to do!
Double click on the 'Background' layer, click OK once and it'll unlock the layer for you.
Instead of opening up your image directly in 'Photoshop', create a new document that you want to work with (based on size dimensions that you want), 'Place' the JPG image inside it by 'drag and drop' or 'Copy & paste'.

If I toggle the button in the top right of the HUD it 'unlocks' and I can drag it to where I prefer -- at the left margin; (for over a decade) my dock has resided at the right margin so all my slider manipulation over countless editing sessions in Aperture has been ingrained to work at the left margin -- but, the vast majority of the time, the HUD overlaps the image I am editing in this 'unlocked' mode.
Every occasionally I enter Full Screen View and it positions on the left margin *without* superimposition...(!) My great joy is modulated into aggravation, however, should my tracking cursor drift all the way 'out of bounds' -- to call in the hidden pane of adjacent images sequenced in the library... This dramatically shrinks the Full Screen display and re-locks the HUD; if I toggle the switch to re-xpand the image it re-positions at the right margin!!!! I SOOoooooo wish I knew how to control the default 'locked' margin of the HUD in Full Screen View...

Drag it over to the Left. Then lock it there.

Preview images in Finder (default opened by Preview) gone

Since a couple of days the preview of images default opened by Preview are gone.
Preview of files/images that are default opened by other programs are still there.
I tried one of the answers in the (unanswered) topics where it was suggested to delete the com.apple.finder.plist file, but this doesn't help.
I think this change has occurred after I installed the "Panorama maker 4" program that came with a Nikon Coolpix camera. This program can "stitch" together a number of panoramically made shots, so it is made to meddle with JPEG files. Also the installation procedure is very un-Apple-like and un-OS X-like.
Of course removing this program does not help.
Any suggestions on what might be wrong, or how to recreate the preview?

You should be able to restore Preview as being the default to open JPG files by opening Finder then choosing a folder with JPG files in it. Select one of them and right click (Option + Click) and select "Open With" then select "Other". Navigate to the Preview Application and select it (click once), then click on the "Always Open With" checkbox (lower left of the dialog box) then click on the Open button.

Help! Menu 1 : No Background Image defined, use default blank image!

I've compressed my video and then imported the assets into dvd sp When I click on inspector I can see it in the Browse clip window etc. BUT when I burn I get the following and nothing on my disc. What am I missing? [email protected]

this just means that you left your menu in your project, but you didnt delete it.
seems that you just made yoru first play the movie.
if you delete your menu, then you will not get that error.
all this error means is that you did not define either buttons or a sub-picture!
i get this error all the time with my static FBI warnings that i put in menu space, not on a VTS.
this is NOT a fatal error, so dont worry about it. it's more like a "HEY silly, you forgot to make buttons or put a sub-picture here!".

Imaq image control (Delete default Value)

I have a problem with the vision imaq image control.
I have defined for a "imaq image control" a default image for the development.
Now the default image is no longer need and i want to remove the default value an reset the Control to an empty image.
How can i reset the default Value from the "imaq image control" to an empty image?

Just obtain list of VIs where Vision Control should be resetted to default, then run snippet above in the cycle.

Image locked and can't be deleted

I just took over updating my company's website. On one page, there's an image that is locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it so I can delete it. Can someone help me?

Without seeing the file we can only guess. With that in mind it sounds like you have a page based off of a template. You can determine this by looking at the source code where you will see comments for editable regions. The best thing you can do in this case is find the original template. If you cannot find the original template your only option will be to detach the page from the template by clicking on Modify->Templates->Detach from Template.

Locking the default options for IMPORT

Could we have a more definitive way to establish personal defaults for IMPORT.
When I import from my camera card, I normally start in the Folder sub-panel of Library and do a right-click "Create a new folder inside ..." and then after that is completed I select the folder just created and right click again and "Import to this folder ..."
This brings up IMPORT with my destination already visually established AND the folder already created within my folder structure and then all I need to do is quickly verify my options and click IMPORT in the lower right corner.
But for the life of me, I couldn't get my options to be sticky ... e.g. preview resolution, destination, etc. I'd set them, do the IMPORT as above, finish it and when I'd go back in they wouldn't have been left the way I set them. But I knew that sometimes this DID happen.
Turns out that if you invoke IMPORT via the button in the lower left corner of Library and complete the sequence (rather than import to this folder via a right-click) ... then options set from that initiation point are sticky and are rembered the next time you go in.
My question is: could we not have a more specific way of saving the defaults on the screen so no matter how you entered IMPORT, you can establish your default and 'lock' it.

The best you can do until Adobe sees fit to make properly sticky is to use import presets. Please forgive if you already knew that...

Menu background image possible on default theme of...

Just wondering is it possible to enable or put a image background on MENUS in nokia 5800 xpressmusic phone's default theme, as i have seen in many custom themes??

The background is all determined by the theme, so in order to put a background in all screens you need to create a theme. You can do this using Carbide UI from forum.nokia.com, but this requires detailed knowledge of the phone software to use effectively. There are similar theme creators at websites like www.zedge.net, but there is a very real chance that they might not be up to date with the 5800's OS yet.

Feature request - image lock

i have asked for such a feature before but after some time... and nothing happens... i will bring this up again.
i would like to have a feature in LR that allows me to LOCK finished photos to keep inadvertent changes from going undetected.
i would like to have a little key icon in the GUI of LR and the ability to set what exactly is locked in the LR catalog settings.
so that i can either lock everything or only develop settings, keywords, ratings.. etc.

i know there are plugins who do this... but to be honest i prefer to have it build into LR.
makes me feel safer and i know there will be no incompatibilitys in future versions..

Ideally, what we want is a lock on a snapshot and/or the history, not the image itself, which is merely a reference.
There is a handy plugin I use that snapshots exports, which is an excellent way to put a pin in a certain rendition.
This implies that one could use a snapshot or virtual copy to create a collection of images to be considered "locked." It might even be possible to make a plugin that names the snapshot or VC appropriately. It would still show up in all photos view, of course, which is the real problem regarding accident deletion or changes.

Image Color Settings Default

Hi, I’m having a problem with color profiles. When importing images through bridge into one of my Indesign documents the Image color setting is defaulted to the color profile of my image that I am importing. When I start a new document the default setting is “Use Document Default”. You can access this setting by right clicking on an image box in Indesign and going to Graphics -> Image Color Settings.
Why is the default import option for the color profile different for just that one document and how do I get it to always import with “Use Document Default”.
This is causing problems when we send our file to press because we are using GCR on the images and not having “Use Document Default” set is separation problems.

Actually now that I look at your problem a little closer, I think you need something different from what you're asking for.
You are importing a CMYK image with a 340 TIL. You mention you need it to be Document CMYK, which is a different GCR CMYK from the image. In such case it is good that the image has the profile imported with it.
Output using one of the PDF/X standards. Select "Convert to Destination" without the preserve numbers. Document CMYK.
Native InDesign colors will not be converted. The LCP MaxK 340 will be converted to your Document CMYK.
Bottom line: if the images need to be in the Document CMYK color space, and you want InDesign to get them there, they must undergo the conversion when you output the PDF.

Problem loading goals from E & A with Excel, column stays locked by default

When trying to enter the E & A data from excel, Target column is blocked, which prevented from entering the goals of the KPI's from excel, how do I enter the goals of the KPI's massively from excel?
I did a test by entering a KPI (Actual - Target) from E & A and from the entry screen of the tool works perfectly, but when I enter the data from Excel the only column entitled to enter data is current and target remains locked and when unlocked from excel and I save data, it displays a message successfully, but this does not save data entered in the target column.
What I can do to enable the Target column from excel to enter the goals of the KPI's?
Any information you can give me will be highly appreciated.

Hi David,
On your first post you mentioned that you were able to load the actual while the target column was grayed out, that usually happens when you use the "Historical Data" button instead of the "Target Data" button (I mention this because the Actual column would be disabled when using the "Target Data" option).
I would suggest double checking that you have both measures (xxx-Actual and xxx-Target) included in the same metric set, then checking that the option to "Input Future Data (Target)" is checked on the "Set Entry and Approval Defaults" section and after that try using the Target Data button to load some target numbers.

Image locked onto page?

Hi, I inserted an images on to my Pages document, and now I can't seem to be able to do anything with it! I can't select it, I can't move it, I can't even resize it!

The only thing I can think of as a reason your directions wouldn't work, Dennis, is if the image has been set to the section master or has been locked.
If it doesn't get any handles at all, go to Format > Advanced & select Make Master Objects Selectable, then click outside the layout & drag toward the object.
If it gets Xs on the corners, the object is locked. Go to Arrange > Unlock.

Setting Num Lock by default

How do I turn "Num Lock" on by default, either prior to logging in or after a user logs in?? I have tried using "xset -led 1" this just sets the light to be on. I am running Solaris 10 with the latest patch cluster.

I've a sneaking suspicion that there is no resolution, at least as regards setting DEFINE OFF within a script.
The SQL Developer Help under section "SQL*Plus Statements Supported and Not Supported in SQL Worksheet" specifies the SET command for option PAUSE OFF alone. No other SET options are listed; although "DEFINE" is listed as a command, that is the definition of a SQLPLUS variable, not the environment setting DEFINE.
I was looking around for a Preference, but could not see anything; OTOH, it is pretty late at night so I could have missed one.

Image remnant after default.png display

When I start my app on the device, after the default.png image is displayed and the app finishes loading there is a brief image displayed which appears to be the image of the screen at the moment I exited the app the last time. This only happens on the device, never in the simulator. Has anyone else experienced this problem? How can I eliminate this unwanted effect?

Not seen this per se but I believe the iPhone does take some sort of screen shot and redisplays it when loading an app to make things appear quicker.
Possibly a corruption? Have you tried removing the app completely and re-installing?

CS6 32 bit Image - Locked background layer

HI,
In Photoshop CS6 why can't I unlock the background layer in a 32 bit image as you used to in CS5?
I only seam to find answers as "change it to 16 bit" but that's not a solution.
In previous versions of Photoshop you were able to composite images in 32 bit.
What happen, what am I doing wrong?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but the image i'm trying to unlock is a render from 3ds Max. I checked the output to be .EXR, full RBG color and 32bit
