Images missing from Mountain Lion after latest update

After the most recent update with Mountain Lion (if I recall it had something to do with iPhoto), images wouldn't load up anymore in sites such as facebook and twitter and applications like iTunes and the App Store.
Attached below are screenshots. As you can see, neither the App Store nor iTunes show any images. I've tried restarting my computer as well as the internet (just in case it was an internet problem) but neither would do the trick.
Any thoughts?

I would recommend that your reboot while simultaneously holding down the Command - R keys to boot into the Mountain Lion Recovery Partition.  There, go to Disk Utility and select the "Macintosh HD" in the list at the left and then run "Repair Disk", and then run "Repair Permissions" twice.  Then return to a normal boot and that may have solved the issue.
Hope this helps

  • Arial font missing from Mountain Lion

Arial font doesn't appear in Mountain Lion, but all my spreadsheets use it.  As a result, when I open any spreadsheet, it appears blank until I change the font.  Is there any way I can fix this?  Thanks

    Arial is a built-in font.
    Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and the support article linked below for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode* (by holding down the shift key at the startup chime) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
    Mac 101: Font Book
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case only, after running Font Book, launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. After running the command, reboot as usual.

  • IMac won't wake from sleep mode after latest update

Hello, I have a Late 2013 27-inch iMac that has started acting strange, lately. After installing update 10.10.3, my iMac almost will regularly not wake once it enters sleep mode, after being idle for a certain period of time.
Is anyone else having this problem, and/or have any solutions for this?
    Thank you in advance!

    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. Please read the whole article carefully and don't skip any of the steps, including the ones under the heading Additional troubleshooting. If you don't understand any of the steps, ask for guidance.
Also note that if you replaced the internal hard drive with an SSD, or if you're starting up from an external SSD, then that device may be causing the problem. Check the SSD manufacturer's website for a firmware update. The only solution may be to reinstall the original drive or avoid sleep altogether.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, from the menu bar select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
              Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.
    Step 3
In the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, uncheck the box marked
Put hard disks to sleep when possible
    Step 4
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
    Step 5
This and the next step must be taken as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ Diagnostic and Usage Messages
In the search box in the window's toolbar, enter "powerd" (without the quotes.)
You may see one or more lines like this:
    com.apple.message.signature: Platform Failure
If you do see that, and you did everything in the preceeding steps, then you're dealing with an internal hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.
    Step 6
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down.
You may see one or more reports with a name that begins with "Sleep Wake Failure" followed by a date. Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • IPhoto missing from Mountain Lion 10.8.2

I am not sure if I somehow deleted iPhoto or it just isn't bundled with Mountain Lion anymore, but I'm fairly sure it has vanished from my computer.
I now have no way to open my iPhoto archives. I went on the app store but it wants £11.99 to download another copy? If I have Mountain Lion, am I entitled to somehow get a free copy? Any way to restore apps that should have been bundled?
    Thanks

Mountain Lion is not bundled with iPhoto (or any of the other iLife products including
iPhoto,iMovie, iDVD, GarageBand, and iWeb.) However, unless your performed a "clean" install iLife shoudl still be installed.. did you check the Applicaitons folder to see if you can find any of them? Otherwise, you'lll have to restore these apps from the iLife disk(s) or follow the advice above from VikingOSX.

  • Why is the podcast capture app missing from  Mountain Lion?

According to this link http://support.apple.com/kb/SP654 the podcast capture/publisher apps are included in OS X Mountain Lion but they are in fact NOT there!

So I just got off the phone with apple and according to the Advisor I spoke with the website is incorrect. Or as they said a typo. Publisher and Capture are not in Mountain Lion and were never meant to be in Mountain Lion. They also said that they were in the process of fixing the website. Funny thing is I bet it does not change. He did give me an app recomendation to use out of the mac store. He said "Podcast Assistant". I am going to download it and check it out.He claimed it was free. If anyone else knows of a good one please let us know. This does suck because I found the apple software easy to use.

  • After latest update Mountain Lion, fan never stop working!

    Hi all
After latest update (26/9/2012 in my case) of Mountain Lion, the fan start working and never stops (Macbook pro 5,5).
    Any other have sam issue?
Already tried to reboot SMC and delete everything starting from snow leopard but problem still exist!!!
    Thanks.

I keep an old wired keyboard and wired mouse for just such emergencies, but that is not helping you now.  There are at least a couple of things that could account for the disappearance of the Bluetooth preference pane.
There may have been a glitch in the installation.
The preference pane will not be displayed if the bluetooth transceiver was not detected when the computer started.
This may seem too obvious, but try completely powering down using the power button on your Mac mini. Wait at least 30 seconds for everything in the mini to fully discharge. While you are waiting to restart, check/replace the batteries in your wireless keyboard and mouse or trackpad. Restart using the power button on the Mac mini.
If that does not work almost anything else will require the use of a wired keyboard and mouse. For years I have kept a wired keyboard and mouse around for just such an emergency, but in a fit of spring cleaning they were discarded. I ended up having to buy a cheap USB mouse and keyboard at Radio Shack (under $20 for the pair but no command key). But, with any kind of luck, you should be able to borrow a wired keyboard and mouse to get this fixed. Once you have a functioning keyboard and mouse you could...
Be sure Bluetooth is turned ON in System Preferences
Install the OS X 10.8.4 (Combo) updater or
Boot into the recovery drive (Reboot while holding down Command + R) and reinstall OS X 10.8.4

  • Can't install from application install dvd and i can't update to 10.6.8 after i restore my macbook pro from mountain lion

can't install from application install dvd and i can't update to 10.6.8 after i restore my macbook pro from mountain lion. when restart and i press command it still has recovery mountain lion show on my screen.

What model is the MBP? Did it come with OS 10.6 or a later OS? Is the install DVD one that came with it or something else?
You can't run an OS older than Mac on it.
But if came with 10.6 installed & you have the system discs, you should be able to erase the drive & reinstall the original OS.

Hey guys, unfortunately I've had to re-install Mountain Lion to get rid of the issue, but here's my experiences after trying many things and contacting AppleCare...
First, I had Lion and had upgraded to ML. They had me go do the following with limited success:
    1) Reset PRAM (no effect)
    2) Recovery Disk and repair permissions (no effect)
    3) Went to system /Library and User /Library and basically we went through several attempts at removing various files from (/Library/InputMethods, /Library/LaunchAgents, /Library/LaunchDaemons") Once I had essentially removed every file and dragged it into the trash (without deleting), the issue was resolved. So, it seems to point to an application that was not fully supported or giving problems within the ML environment. The plan was to drag them one by one back and do reboot/shutdown until I could isolate the application, but rather than do that, I just did a fresh install to take out any variable that could be present from having to do a Lion/ML upgrade. I was able to put a fresh copy of ML on the computer through the Recovery partition after establishing connection to my router. Everything is working fine now.
Anyway, hope that helps some of you. It was a frustrating experience but seems to point to application issues wih the OS and not the OS itself. I think developers are still rushing to catch up with full ML support and so you might find yourself having many new updates in drivers or applications over the next month.

just update my iMac from Mountain Lion to Mavericks and the application are slow to open. The same happens to opening webpages . Please help

Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Reinstalling Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Do I need to download drivers for an HP 8600 all in one printer after upgrading to Mavericks from Mountain Lion?

I am about to upgrade my Mac's OS from Mountain Lion to Mavericks.   I recently networked to my Mac on our home wireless network an HP 8600 all in one printer/scanner and an HP LaserPro 127.   I saw a note posted in a non-Apple forum stating that the Mavericks upgrade should include the drivers needed to run these products on Mavericks.   Is that correct or will I need to download a new set of drivers from HP after I upgrade to Mavericks?
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

  • Open GL issue after latest updates: Missing GL version

Having issues with OpenGL after latest updates to OSX and Safari. iTunes will not display cover art and Angry Birds responds glewInit failed: Missing GL version. The is a Mac Pro with 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7.
Anyelse seen this? How is this fixed?

Final chapter in this saga for anyone else who experiences this.......run reparPermissions against your disks prior to upgrading. After having to rebuild the boot disk a couple of times and upgrade, had no problems with 10.7.4 but would always get Missing GL Version after Safari update. Ran DiskUtil and repaired permissions prior to Safari update and finally got it to pdate without causing GL issue.
Still working on how to not need to delete my previous backups when rebuilding machine (apparently TimeMachine always tries to create a new back sparse folder and thus may waste original space from your previous backups).
Thanks to A Brody for the suggestion about repairing disk permissions!

How do i reinstall mountain Lion after installing maverick. Maverick  is not compatible with FileMaker 13 server. Maverick is now objecting to reinstalling Mountain Lion. Where do I go from here? Help?

If you can download the ML installer you can make a bootable install media by using:
    http://liondiskmaker.com/
If your Mini came with ML you can also boot to Internet Recovery
OS X: About OS X Recovery
and it will install ML. Make sure you boot to Internet Recovery and not the Recovery Partition. If to the partition you will only get Mavericks.
