Images move when changing document setup

Can someone explain why when I change the document set up from "facing pages" to single pages the images on the page, with the exception of the one that bleeds on the outside edge, all shift to the right by about half of an inch.

That's pretty strange. That said, if there were guides that things snapped to, and layout adjustment is turned on, it could be a factor, as could unbalanced margins (you're essentially switching from a left to a right page here), though I thinnk that last is pretty unlikely.
As a workaround, do they stay where they blong if grouped?

InDesign crashing when changing Document Setup

Hi
I have an 75 page InDesign file with some text and placed files
When I make any changes in the Document Setup dialog, (Pg Sz, Facing Pages etc) InDesign crashes with the following message:
I exported to IDML, but that didn't help either
Any suggestions?
I'm running CS6 on Mac OSX Mountain Lion
This only happens to this file - other files are ok

I think maybe the style itself is corrupt. The next thing I would try is creat a new file (blank) and in that file define a new style with the exact same name (case sensitive) and then import the style into the other file using Load All Text Styles from the paragraph styles panel menu.
I'm not certain that's going to work though, so be prepared to export the text to InDesign Tagged Text, then make yet another new file. Recreate (or load from that other new file) any styles that are causing a problem, then place the tagged text. You can work from there in the new file, or you can go back to the original, delete the offending style (leaving the text without a style), then copy the newly placed text in the new file and paste it into the original to replace what's there and restore the style assignments. You might want to do all of that on a copy, by the way, just for safety.

Error while TOC created when change document approvle for UNIT testing

Hi All,
During change document approval for unit testing, we are getting error, when I checked in detail, it is giving error for transport of copies error as below
it seems to be getting locked with original transport,
also I can't see change in transport of copies
Does someone has any idea?

Hello Dinesh,
Perhaps the tasks of the Transport Request were not released.
Try to release the tasks only (from your DEV system), then choose action "Pass normal change to test". This will generate a ToC to be transported into your QAS.
Then from the Task List, you can schedule the background job to import the ToC into QAS system.

Background image moves when disabled

I have an image in a frame window. When you click on the image and move the mouse the image moves. I have but the image still moves. Also I wish to disable the right hand mouse context menu that opens the image in a new window and other items.
It does the same thing in Safari for OS X on a Mac.
Any help appreciated.

The images are moveable on all sites including the apple site.
Is it a preference in the browser? Is this common to all Safari browsers?

Change document setup by adding 1/2 inch on the left

Hi,
I am working on a 8 1/2 X 11 document (36 pages) and I would like to add 1/2 inch but only on the left side. Of course, I could just change my document set up for 9 X 11 but then, I have to reposition my elements to the right wich I would like to avoid.
Is there a way to do that?

Yo don't say if this is a facing pages document, but I'd guess not if you only want to add to one side. You should change the document setup, but it would be possible to do this by adjusting the bleed settings at output, which I really don't recommend as it's likely to be forgotten at some point.
If your text frames are snapped to the margin gides this should be relatively painless. Before making any adjustments go to Layout > Layout Adjudtment... and turn it on. With Layout Adjustment active frames that are snapped to guides should resize or reposition to match the new guide positions. You can now change the page size, then go the the master page to adjust the margins to where you want them to restore the text block to the original size.

Image moves when hyperlinked?

Hi Guys,
When i add a hyperlink to the image at the top of my page the image moves across to the right, when i delete the link it moves back to center, any ideas whats causing this?

The shift might be caused by default borders on linked images. Try adding this to your CSS code.

"Memory Full" error when changing page setup

I'm running Crystal Reports 2008 and yesterday I had two landscape reports begin doing some weird things:
Symptoms:
-Any change to the Page Setup dialog throws the Memory Full error (even just bringing it up and clicking ok)
-The reports were created as landscape but are displaying as portrait in Page Setup and in design view
-A handful of fields are displayed without text in them. If I delete these fields, save, and re-open other fields will not display information (in design view)
Troubleshooting:
-If I remove ALL fields from the reports, save, and re-open the report tells me I have an invalid printer but will allow me to change Page Setup.
*While this works, I really do not want to create the reports again from scratch.
-I have tried removing and re-installing Crystal 2008 with no luck. However, it remembered my recently opened reports which makes me think the uninstall didn't remove everything.
-I have rebooted to make sure all memory available is free.
Does anyone have troubleshooting ideas for me? Thanks in advance.

The link takes me to a page saying "The system cannot find the file specified. " I also tried downloading the .exe version and got the same result.
I was able to find an SP3 download but after unpacking the files and selecting my language I get a message "Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Update can not install because the version of the product on the system is too low."

Entire image moves when using the Healing Brush

After I alt/click to select the color for the brush, the entire image moves with the mouse. Any ideas on this?

Image moves when printed from SAP queue versus Adobe Reader.

I've got a form with a image embedded into it that serves as a background watermark.
This document is usually printed from Adobe Reader, however some users have requested the ability to print directly to a SAP printer without using Adobe Reader to print using windows drivers.
When the form is sent to a SAP printer the image watermark is for some reason moved about 3mm to the right which causes the watermark not to align with the Text Fields that also print on the form. The text fields do not move, they print in exactly the same spot with either print method. Only the image seems to be affected.
Has anyone run into this? The image is an embeded .png file that is set to Scale Image Poportionally in the sizing options.

I looked at the notes you suggested and it does seem related to the extra margin added to documents printed to PCL-5.
If I use LiveCycle to set an image field .5mm from the left edge of the page, and then print it from SAP directly and then from Adobe Reader I see two different things.
Adobe Reader (with page scaling option turned off) will simply omit anything that falls outside the printable range.
SAP will move the omitted content into the printable area. This is what is causing my image watermark not to align properly with the text in front of it. The image field was too close to the left margin and so in the process of printing, SAP has moved it over to fit in the printable area.
It seems I can fix this issue for my particular requirement by creating a new image field that has the extra white space removed so that I can keep the image field farther away from the left edge of the page.
Not sure if there is some way to change the way the drivers for device type HPLJ4 are handling these margins, but it will likely just be easier to change the images to move them further from the edge which seems to fix it.

Scaling text, pictures etc. when changing document format in InDesign

Hi,
I am making an example of a cookbook layout in InDesign. This is my first time working with the software and I made the document in a totally wrong format. I made a document in 200 x 260 cm, when I was suppose to make it in 200 x 260 mm (duhh).
So my question is, is it possible to automaticly scale all my text, pictures etc when I change the document format to the correct one? Or do I have to do it all manually?

If you've setup your document with margins and guides etc. then scaling it should be ok if you go to Layout>Layout Adjustment and turn this on.
Then change the size of your document to the new size. You will have a bit of tidying up but it can work.
Your other option to get you out of this now are to import the InDesign file into a new document at the right size. - http://indesignsecrets.com/zanelli-releases-multipageimporter-for-importing-both-pdf-and-i ndd-files.php
Or you could request for your printers to resize it this once.
But you should of course resize this to the correct size.

Images sticking when changing pages

Hi,
I'm having an issue with Interactive PDFs exported from Indesign CS6.
On some pages when you move on to the next page, a portion of the previous page will remain visible as a band across the page. If you click on the affected part of the pageit immediately changes and displays correctly. This happens whether moving forwards or backwards through the document.
Any advice on what might be causing this and how to remedy it? Again, it's only certain pages which will do this and it happens even if you change the page order.

Hopefully the graphics device is ok, the laptop is only a couple of months old and is a fairly high-spec and good quality HP machine. The system seems to otherwise run the rest of the CS6 package without any faults.
I have noticed however that this error only occurs when viewing the files in Acrobat, not in Adobe Reader 9.

Sequence moves when changing clip speed

Whenever I edit an individual clip's speed, the sequence in front of it gets moved backwards or forwards. It even moves the sequence markers! How do I get rid of this, so only the clip grows and shrinks, without affecting the space around it?

Curiously, this change in FCP's speed adjustment—known as rippling—was changed sometime between FCP2 and FCP5, can't recall when exactly. It was apparently made at the behest of Those Who Decide Such Things. People like me howled in protest. IN FCP7, you have a choice in the speed dialog to ripple or not.

Rules move when changing length in InDesign CS5

Whenever I change the length of rules in CS5, the rule will then proceed to jump around on the page. Is this some simple setting I'm overlooking? Really slows down workflow when you have to change a rule length and then go and move the rule back to where it was. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

How large a change are wi talking about here? Small enough that it might be accounted for by something like an end cap on the stroke, or some larger random number?
Is it happening in all files, or just this one? If it's just this one, try Remove minor corruption by exporting but if it happens in all files and trashing the prefs didn't work I'm stumped for the moment. Can you post a link to a sample?
Just for fun, set Live Screen Drawing to Delayed. I don't think it will make a difference if you aren't using the mouse, but it's worth trying.
And are you using the Selection tool (black arrow) or Direct Select tool (white arrow), to select the rule?

Background image moves when previewing the site

I set up my background in the master. When I preview my site in the browser, the background location jumps around slightly as I navigate between pages. Any ideas?

i'm also getting this. Really odd movement with both shape elements foreground and background and how type is rendering and moving up and down at will, as well as reflowing differently. Used Arial as was web safe so not sure why.
Also have in sep text boxes as seemed normal way to do it.
I had a more evolved thing going on with small shape bars between project title and the rationale on left hand side bar but that's all had to go out of the winder since the last update as moving was playing havoc page to page.
I also had to paste in place my Navigation for site on each page individualy instead of using a MASTER to get to work correctly. Have tried to now put this on a NAV layer above all other content on MASTER as well as pinning it top and causing more movement so didn't upload or save.
Have some screen grabs of what I am seeing in the PREVIEW in Muse top and bottom of page and also the DESIGN view top and bottom of page.
As mentioned, haven't saved or uploaded to my ftp as expecting a client to look at some of my work and can't afford them looking when it's busted with some issue or another.
Any light shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated. As I keep saying, I love the program but there do seem to be some big issues that are making me spend lots and lots of investigatory time with hit and miss results.

All images read when changing keyword property

I have been altering some top-level keywords by editing them and clearing the "include on export" setting. Every time I change a keyword in this way, it seems that LR2 insists on reading all my image files! With a 35K image library, this takes forever, effectively making it impossible to alter the export setting on top level keywords of my keyword hierarchy.
"Automatically write changes to XMP" is NOT enabled.
Has anyone seen anything like this happening? Is there a work-around?

Thanks, Ian. Turns out my histogram window was already closed, so I don't think that's a workaround. It appears that LR is reading all files with that keyword or any child of that keyword. Of course, I had started with the keyword with the most photos. Lots and lots of patience got me through it....
