Images not turning out as they look in PS

Lately I have been having some issues with my processed images. They look good in PS, and in Windows Image Viewer as well as on Facebook (which is odd because FB generally compresses them bad), but when loaded into a phone, tablet, or uploaded into Shutterfly, they look horrible. They look muddy, flat, and discolored. This is an issue since I am gstarting on my own in photography and use a share site to pass along updates of our daughter to family for them to make prints. Any ideas why this might be happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am running Windows 7 and CS5. This is a recent issue. Thank you in advance.

If things were working well before and then went bad, something within your CS5 has changed. My guess is that somehow you're saving photos in Adobe98 or ProPhoto instead of sRGB (as you should do for anything destined for other screens - i.e., Facebook, etc.) This could have happened if you changed your Color Settings in Edit > Color Settings.
Check this by opening one of the problem files in PSCS5 and look at the profile. Click on the pop-up at the bottom of the file window and choose Document Profile. What's it say?

No, no one can do that. You need to try restoring it:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU-Device Firmware Upgrade) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

Images Not showing up like they should on published site...

Ok so here is my problem. I have a site that I upload to a host via fetch. When I first create pages, I upload and check it out and everything looks great. But, as soon as I edit one of the pages and upload, that page's images is all screwed up. Its like when I publish to a folder, it cache's the files or something so old files images I don't even have anymore are stretched on the new ones. I delete the files of previously published sites before I publish to folder every time i update it. I don't know how to explain it, its like it has both files same name and so it looks messed up. ::sigh:: Anyone have any ideas?

as you can see the picture file names are wrong or something. refresh it and the shapes stay pretty much the same but the images change. Keep refreshing and it keeps changing!!
I can fix it by making a whole new page with a different name but its such a pain because I am contantly updating things. There are many aspects to the site, for instance I have had to redo every single page of every girl on there before from scratch because of this.
Also for some reason if you click "live cam" at the top then the live cam pinkish blue page in the center doesn't go all the way to the top. It us to! now it doesn't
Any ideas? Anyone? Is there some folder I'm missing or setting I'm missing here?

You have to be fairly well organized when you are uploading to a server via FTP.
I publish my site, first to a folder on the desktop. This way it doesn't get confused with any previous published versions.
To avoid uploading my whole site if I just have a few alterations to one page, I then drag the page folder, along with any other supporting files, to an Input folder.
I then run the files through Web Site Maestro to optimize and upload them. This application has a "Smart handling" feature which ignores any files that haven't changed.
If you use this method with any good FTP application that can "recognize" changed files, it makes life a lot easier. If I don't need to optimize, I use the FTP application Yummy.
If you are publishing to a folder it doesn't make sense not to optimize your files. This will give you a far faster downloading website and even give it a chance to actually load in Internet Explorer.

Gallery image not fading out

I have two galleries. One using spry 1.4 code and one 1.6.1. The 1.4 gallery fades out an image before fading the new one in. This is what I want.
But the 1.6.1 gallery the image does not fade out. It just goes to white (or opacity 0) No fading occurs. The it fades in the nex image.
Can some one explain what is wrong with the code in the 1.6.1 gallery?

Rendering imported images in Final Cut so they look nice

I recently edited a video requiring still image animation, something Final Cut is notoriously poor at. After much experimenting, I got good results that I want to share. A: Not supported. As I write this, I've found no filters which allow SVG to be imported. However, you can convert your graphic to JPEG or PNG, and import that. PNG supports transparency, and is recommended.

A: Not supported. What you did wrong is to assume that FCE would use the extra resolution you provided and render a nice image.

A: Over in the high-rent neighborhood, people with FCP are using Adobe After-Effects for this. But those of us on a budget bought FCE for a reason. Fortunately, the FCE 4 bundle comes with a tool which gets you partway there: LiveType.
LiveType to the rescue. I hate LiveType. I want to like it, since I like good typography, but LiveType has a weird interface for controlling effect rates, does not support multiple columns credit rolls (hello? Is that basic or what?), and appears to be focused on cheap tricks.
Yet it can import high resolution images, keep the high resolution until rendering, and works well with FCE. I'll describe my storyboard, and how I used LiveType to make it look pretty good. (You can use my sequence if you want, but I'm not writing a cookbook here. My goal is to use my storyboard to describe a general technique.)
Storyboard
My images are two static vector graphics created in Inkscape.
* Start with image one, scale = 100% @ 0 sec, and begin gradual scale increase (zoom in) to scale = 720% @ 17 sec.
* At 10 seconds, begin a 2 second transition from image one to image two.
* While this is going on, begin distorting the image with the vertical Wave filter. Start with amplitude = 0 and frequency = 0 @ 0 sec. Gradual change to amplitude = 10 @ 10 sec and frequency = 20 @ 15 sec.
* Start Bad TV filter at 15 seconds.
* Begin one second fade-out @ 17 sec.
Implementation
If done entirely in FCE, the result is a pixelated mess with moire patterns. The rendered image section shown here is about 10 seconds into the sequence.
Start by exporting your images to PNG at 4 times the resolution of your video (multiply width and height each by 2). Import these into LiveType, size appropriately, and add the transition. (I'm not going to describe exactly how to do this in LiveType. There are many LiveType tutorials available on the Internet, and more words here will not improve LiveType's quirky interface.)
Implement the scale in LiveType, also, but do not scale fully from 100% to 720%. LiveType slows down a lot at high scale values, and we need some headroom to do post-effect scaling in FCE. Instead, scale from 100% to 300%.
Import the project into FCE. Add Wave and Bad TV filters. Notice how when the wave filter makes your image ripple, the top and bottom edges are cut-off? It appears as though FCE imported a rectangular image from LiveType, and there's nothing beyond the edges but black. To complete the effect, add scale from 100% @ 0 sec to 240% @ 17 sec (300% x 240% = 3.0 x 2.4 = 7.2 = 720%). Scale in FCE is applied after the other filters, and hides the cut-off edges.
End result: Much better looking than with FCE alone. Pixelation is eliminated and moire patterns are reduced (though not eliminated). However, it is a pain to set up. But that is the price perfectionists pay, so welcome to the club and suck it up.
*Removing moire & interlace flicker*
Moire & interlace flicker occurs when you use narrow horizontal lines in your graphic. Bad choice, yet here we are.
First off, what is the destination for your work - broadcast TV, DVD, or YouTube? If the first two, you should see how it looks on an interlace monitor; if YouTube, you're probably done - upload a test, see how your careful work has been mangled, weep, and then give up.
For interlace, you'll need to blur vertically to reduce adjacent scanlines flicker. The standard technique for this is to apply:
Video Filters > Blur > General Convolution:
Cell 2 = 0.25
Cell 5 = 0.5
Cell 8 = 0.25
all other cells = 0
Apply as the last filter in the chain. However, if you see moire due to the Wave or some other distortion filter, you might try adding another one at the beginning of the filter chain.
Moire occurs not just in still images, but also when the images animate. Although not shown here (because these are still images), I have not eliminated moire entirely. However, it is improved.
Tips to improve image quality further:
* Avoid scaling in FCE. If you can, scale in LiveType only.
* Avoid using thin lines.
* Use a high resolution source image.

Nothing will scale bitmapped images 720% well. Not even After Effects. It may look better than FCE but it will look bad. AE and Motion will support vector images and continuously rasterize to create smooth scaling at high levels.
If you want vector text in FCE that will scale up you can use Title 3D.

Effects on images not starting out hidden

Under Dreamweaver Spry 1.6 I have a link that calls a new
browser window and that page has an image that should both fade in
and grow from 0% to 100% using the appear/fade grow/shrink effects.
When the window first opens I see the image in full size for
split second, then it disappears and the fade-in/grow effect
starts. When I reload the page, the effects work as they should,

using the display:none property you should have a container
around image with a fix height. In this way, you reserve the space
for the image from the beginning and the content will not try to
push the other content downwards.
You can use also the visibility:hidden property on the image
animated by effect, because this property reserves the necessary
space for the image as it would be in page.

I receive efax's only on my computer. Do not print out when they come in.

In order for me to know I have an efax I need to open up the message center on my computer and locate any and all new faxes and print them from there. My printer is a HP Photosmart 7510 and my computer is running Vista-64. It is not a connection problem because my router is working just fine and the printer is connected wirelessly and works with no problem wirelessly when I give a print command.

I just updated my software, now I don't know how to turn off aps. I used to double tap the home button then hold down the ap until it shakes and the minus signs appear. Now, I get no shaking and no minus sign. What do I do?

Why does my project not turn out right when I export my movie?

I am creating projects for a church doing announcements via video. Once the project is created and my timeline complete, I export the project to my desktop. It often creates strange anomlies duplicating different parts of the project and replacing others. What is the issue here? Creating a Quicktime movie, 1920 X 1080P, 23.76 frames per second, H.264 Codec.

I'd first try exporting in the native exporting format ProRes 422. Personally I've never had this happen to me but I'd try that first.

Images in my FrameMaker 10-sourced Robohelp Web Help project are turning out as blank JPEGS appearing as blank spaces in the final output. How can I fix this?

I'm attempting to create online help sourced from a FrameMaker 10 book using Robohelp 9 and Web Help (primary layout).
The text is interspersed with numeorus small icons which, in the FrameMaker documents, are .bmp images inserted into anchored frames in the lines of text.
Most of these icons were imported by reference into the FrameMaker book's chapters. Some were copied from another FrameMaker book and pasted into the present book.
Many of these images are turning out blank in the finished Help project.
Robohelp seems to convert these images into JPEGS.
In the source FrameMaker book, the images which appear OK in the Help project have Object Properties including: Facets: FrameVector JPEG ... Referenced File: No File
The images which appear blank have different object properties there: Facets: DIB ... Referenced File: (address of the image's source file)
How can I fix this and make all of the images appear in the Online Help?

Sorry, Jeff. I missed the key word in your instructions. Well, I did the import and still no luck. I'm getting the exact same results with the same images. (In some cases, I'm even getting hidden conditional text from the FM document body showing up in the image's frame instead of the image! See below.) This is bizarre behavior, but it's not new with the import. It is happening both in the linked and imported WebHelp with the same exact images. (Just another piece to complicate the puzzle.) So we have some jpeg images that are blank, and a few that are glitchy. From what I can tell, the commonality, besides the fact that all these new images are in jpeg format instead of gif format, is that all the blank and glitchy images are in a text inset. I'm beginning to think maybe RH just doesn't support text insets at all.
Arnis, I'll have to ask my colleague how she created the images next week when she's back from vacation. I have no clue if there are any differences between the jpegs and why some are showing up correctly. What do you mean by "compression type or level?" Are you asking about the resolution (high, medium, low) she chose when saving the images, or which program she used to do the screen capture and editing? (We have Adobe Photoshop CS5 and FM 11).
My next step is to copy-paste all the content from the text insets into my FM document (in the book I am linking) and re-render to see if that solves the problem. It will make single-sourcing impossible because I'll have to copy-paste the new content and images my colleague creates into my document each time we do an update, but oh well.

"Image not found" message

Whilst downloading pictures from a flash card I got a warning message saying that the device had been disconnected, and that my pictures hadn't been downloaded. I hadn't actually deliberately disconnected the card, but I had moved my computer and the connection has previously been rather sensitive to movement. The pictures I was trying to download couldn't be found on the card, and weren't in the Aperture album I was downloading to. However, when I opened the Trash they seemed to be in there. I dragged them to the relevant album. However, when I actually tried to open the images for editing, I got a message saying "Image not found". When I look at the thumbnails there is some sort of little icon in the bottom right corner, as you can see in the screenshot below. Have my images been lost? Can I get them back? I don't quite understand what has happened.

I ran this and it turned out that the master files were still on the flash memory card, even though they hadn't shown up in the original index following my download failure.

the difference between 'referenced' and 'managed' Library. What are these?
Aperture has two methods to store the original master image files.
Managed Masters, the default: Aperture stores the master image files inside the library package in a folder called "Masters". References masters are advantageous for small libraries - the masters are well protected, they are included in the vault backup, you can move your library by drag and drop.
Referenced Masters: You chose a location for the master image files outside the library, and Aperture references the masters. It will be up to you to remember where your masters are and to ensure that they are neiter modified, moved, or deleted. Referenced Libraries are used for large libraries, if you cannot keep the whole library on the system drive. Then the thing to do is to store the masters on an external volume and only to keep the library and good quality previews on your system volume.
You create a referenced library either on Import with the "Store Files" drop down menu in the "Aperture Library" brick by setting this to "In their current location" or to anfolder outside Aperture, or you use the "relocate masters" command from the "File" menu to move master image files somewhere else.

IPad does not turn off

This is very odd.
I need to use my iPad with Keynote and a projector. I have done this before by turning the iPad off (hold down the top button until the "Slide to turn off" appears but suddenly the darn thing does not turn off.
It LOOKS like it is turning off - I slide the red slider and get a spinning ball for a brief time, but if I plug in or just hit the bottom switch, bingo, it pops back on instantly.
My first thought was maybe I'm just not giving it enough time, but no, I gave it fifteen minutes and it still was not really off.
Now - I just tried it again and of course it worked, making a liar out of me
Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong somehow?

Iphone5c not turning on

My iphone5c is not turning out. I have tried the hard reset and nothing. When I have it plugged into a wall outlet, the phone makes a low ding noise but remains off. Any suggestions?

If it doesn't automatically turn on after 15 minutes of charging, you have a hardware problem. You have a 1 year warranty so take it in to Apple and let them look at it.

Idvd - image not found

I think we are looking at re-installing your iDVD application. But let's do a few of the basics first.
Have you Repaired Permissions on the boot volume? (if not, do so now)
Drag and drop the plist for iDvd to the trash ..... looks like this:

RESTART your mac.
Now try iDvd. Hopefully this helped.

The first to do in cases like this if you've uploaded new files is to reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
You have images on your web page that have a backslash in the URL that Firefox escapes a %5C and that do not work.<br />
You can see those images as grayed in the Tools > Page Info > Media window.
