Images on some websites not loading in Safari

I have browsed some related posts on this forum but have not found a solution that works for me. When I go to certain websites, JPEG images won't load at all. One of these websites is the www.weather.gov website, where the image for each day of the week shows only the blue question mark icon in place of the usual cloudy/sunny/rainy image. When I try to load the image alone in a new tab or window, I get the following message:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /ifps/text/images/ on this server.
Apache/2.0.46 (Red Hat) Server at www.crh.noaa.gov Port 80
Opening the same page in Netscape (7.2) allows these same images to load, so this access permission message is somewhat misleading. But the same problem seems to occur in Internet Explorer (5.2.3).
This problem appears to be account-specific rather than system-wide because when I log in using my son's account on the same Powerbook, this problem doesn't occur and all images load properly on this website when using Safari .
I have tried resetting Safari, emptying cache and deleting the Safari plist from my user profile, but the problem persists. Is there something else that I should look at to solve this problem?
My Internet access is through Comcast Cable and this problem started occurring close to the time I upgraded to Tiger from Jaguar several months ago and has been a minor nuisance that has not gone away. After an attempt to run the OS X 10.4.4 Combined Update resulted in having to do a system reinstall, I have not tried again, so maybe this update will take care of this problem.
Any help with this would be appreciated!

OK, I solved the problem from my own post. This particular problem was in fact specific only to this one website. The reason for this problem was that I had created a bookmark for the www.weather.gov website after entering my local zip code. I had been using this bookmark for quite a while to have quick access to my local weather, but the JPG files that the website used to display the sunny/rainy/cloudy images on the page had been changed. Therefore, when I clicked the bookmark to bring up this website, I got the Access Forbidden error and none of these JPEG images would load. When I went directly to the www.weather.gov URL and re-entered the city and state in the 'Enter your city' text box, presto, the images came up right away. I guess the lesson is to update bookmarks every now and then when they include search-specific parameters.

  • Image slideshow on website not loading on mobile but works fine on other mobile browsers

I designed a mobile website for (esinrestaurant.com). This is a new site and when I was trying to look at it today on Firefox 21.0 on my Droid (4.0) phone, I noticed that the slideshow that is supposed to appear on the Home page just below the logo, is not loading. I thought it might be a timeout problem but it still doesn't load if I use WiFi. Note that if I try to view this website on the native droid browser, Chrome an Opera the slideshow is displayed correctly. I tried clearing the cache and resetting my phone and still no luck. I discussed this problem with the company that provides my mobile tools and when he tried to look at the website it loaded correctly on his Droid phone using the same Firefox 21.0. So what could be going on? If the customer sees this problem I need to be able to fix it or at least explain why it is happening.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing. <br>
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies, do the following:
#Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
    #Tap '''Settings'''.
#After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section '''''Privacy & Security''''' and select '''Clear private data'''.
#You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
    #*Cookies & active logins
    #*Cache
#After those have been selected, tap the '''Clear data''' button to actually clear the cache and cookies.
Did this help you with your problems? Please let us know!

  • Select Websites not loading in Safari

I am having trouble getting select websites to load which loaded fine prior to today. I've reset Safari data, read other discussions doing what they suggested (Safari is up to date), but still can't get it to work. Other users are able to get to those sites, so it's local to my machine. Help please??

  • Some pages not loading on Safari 7.0.1

Yesterday, many pages (Youtube, Facebook, Google, apple.com) stopped loading on Safari 7.0.1. I followed one thread that recommended checking my proxies, and I deleted some comment from my proxies settings, but that provided temporarily relief for facebook, while other pages still won't load. I followed another thread recommending turning off my firewall, but I'm a little hesitent to do that. The day before this started, I returned from a business trip, so the only thing I can think of is that I caught something from the airport wifi.

Close Firefox Control-click the Firefox.app icon Select "Get Info", and then check the box, "Open in 32-bit mode".
    thank you

  • Some websites not loading in Firefox but load in Chrome. Weirdly fixed itself. But why?

    Hi.
I had a very strange problem this morning. Firefox wouldn't load about 75% of the websites I usually visit. These sites were accessible via other devices in the house. So I downloaded Chrome to my desktop and was able to access those sites from Chrome.
So I went back to Firefox to continue trying to troubleshoot what the problem was that Firefox had suddenly developed. But all of a sudden, everything was loading again in Firefox.
Now I didn't do anything other than installing Chrome and importing my bookmarks.
So this sounds a bit wonky and mysterious to me.
Does anybody have any ideas about what might have happened and why?
    Thanks for your time.
    Yours,
    Simon.

This seems to have been a problem with BT Broadband, they've posted an apology and had some sort of weird outage.
So not a problem at my end at all.
Weird that switching to Chrome seemed to resolve it though, but I guess that might just have been a co-incidence.
Not sure how to close my own question?

  • Some webpages not loading with Safari 5.1

I have Safari 5.1, snow leopard 10.6.8 and I can't get certain websites to open.  (kol.coldfront.net) for example.  The same site will not open on my wife's ipad 2.  nor would it open when i downloaded and tried firefox.  i have tried deleting cookies, emptying caches, resetting airport extreme, resetting cable modem, restarting both computers....all of those things again, simultaneously...I have also tried messing with the DNS, added some open dns stuff.  also tried updating flash.  pretty much anything a google search suggested i do.  then i called apple.  they said because its more than one machine it sounds like the websites are not supported?  any help would be appreciated...

yeah. I noticed the same thing. now the splash screen comes on without the flashing green squares and just hangs. i tried unintalling and then reinstalling and still no go. kind of annoying but they will probably come out with an update pretty soon

  • Why after ccleaner mozilla not load images in some websites. How fix it?

Why after ccleaner mozilla not load images in some websites. How fix it?

You can use these steps to block images from a specific domain:
    * Open the web page that has the images in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If you want to block images then place check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" to block the images from that domain.
You can set the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions

From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Websites not loading correctly/can't login to some

    Websites not loading correctly/can't login
I've never used it much but I decided to try using firefox full time this week.
I installed it and loaded flash, java and anything else basic that I was asked to.
But I haven't screwed around with the settings, other than the troubleshooting steps on this site.
I'm going to use this site as an exmaple: http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php?
The reason being it exhibts both of the problems below.
Problem 1 - Not loading correctly:
First here's a link to a screen shot of the problem.
    http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/963/firefoxscreenshots.png
The top half is the page loaded from IE, the bottom half is Firefox.
Now when the page finishes loading in Firefox it looks exactly the same as IE for a second.
Then it changes into the image I attached.
    Problem 2 - Can't log in
    http://www.autoitscript.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=global&section=login
Now once again the login screen looks a bit different in IE and firefox.
once again it looks normal for a second in firefox.
I enter the correct username/password, and click sign in.
It comes back "you must complete both fields" and after a few seconds jumps back to the forum home page.
I had a problem registering and dealing with forums registering with mozilla.com
I would fill in the registration form hit submit and I'd just jump back to a blank form again.
I've been using IE to register and submit this question.
    Thanks,
    Kenny

Can you check your [[JavaScript]] settings and makes sure JavaScript is enabled?
It seems like some preference may have been changed that affects the way content is displayed. Another way to troubleshoot is to try creating a fresh profile, check out the article on [[Managing Profiles]] to learn how to do this.

  • Firefox won't load/show images on some websites with Disconnect add-on enabled

I've been having trouble with Firefox not loading images on some websites. I tried clearing my cache/cookies, checking permissions disabling the AdBlocker add-on but nothing worked. I've attached a screen shot of the page info for one of the pictures that didn't load. Something was changing the picture's file type to 'text/html.'
I finally gave up and reset Firefox and that solved the problem. I began slowly adding back my previous add-ons and found that the Disconnect add-on was the cause. I've seen this issue discussed here and on other support websites as well as Bugzilla so I just wanted to offer up my solution in case anyone is having the same issue and can't pinpoint the origin.

I also wanted to know if anyone has any alternatives to Disconnect that don't cause this to happen.
ETA: I've replaced it with Ghostery and that looks be working great without blocking any pictures.

  • IWeb Masked images not loading in Safari

When I apply a mask to images in iWeb they will not load properly in Safari. They load fine in FireFox. When the mask is removed the images will load in Safari, re-apply the mask and no go.
Have done the usual reset safari, etc.
    Any suggestions?

Well, I narrowed it down a bit more. Its not the mask thats causing the issue, its the mirror or drop shaddow. With those two affects applied the pictures will not load in Safari. Remove them, and they load fine.
Would love a fix for this, as those affects really dress things up, but its not a deal breaker.
Thanks to those that offered suggestions.

  • Upgraded to Mavericks, now I can't get some websites to load

I am not sure if the two issues are related, but I recently upgraded to Mac OS X Mavericks and now my internet browsers are really slow and I can't get some websites to load. When I check to see if the website is up, the response from http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ is that it is just me. I assume it must be something with the upgrade as I did not have the issue prior to upgrading. I have tried accessing these sites in various browsers (Safari - preferred, Firefox, and Chrome), but none of them receive data from the site.
I also had a lot of trouble attaching a .jpg to an e-mail in Safari and Firefox. Google Chrome was finally able to get it to attach. I wonder if this is related.
Some of the websites that won't load are

  • Since update, various sites load very slowly and some do not load until "Reload Current Page" is clicked several times.

Since Firefox update (6.0.2) many sites load very slowly and some do not load at all (green circle rotates infinitely) until "Reload Current Page" is clicked on 2 to 12 times.
Returned to version 5. No more slow load.
Automatically re-updated me to 6.0.2 and now slow again.
Returned to FF 5 again and turned off automatic update.
Downloaded 7.0.1 and the problem seems to be solved.

Same here, only that updating to 7.0 or 7.0.1 doesn't seem to solve this issue. Seems to have something to do with loading images (e.g: adobe.com stops loading when "wwwimages.adobe.com" is being loaded. imdb.com, on the other hand, seems to load images very slowly and not all of them).
Safe-mode. disabling add-ons, clearing cache and cookies and checking for malware doesn't help.

  • Why don't all images in a gmail not load

Running the current version of FF on a Vista 32 machine. This problem has been ongoing in past versions as well. Problem is that all images in an email viewed via Gmail won't load with FF. I can click refresh and more of the images may or may not load. This problem does not happen when viewing gmail in Chrome or IE 7.

  • Podcast will not load in safari from server, but will load in other Apps

Podcast will not load in safari from iWeb Page from server, but will load in Firefox and other web apps.
Here the problem: I have a podcast page made in iWeb. It is setting on a server with GoDaddy. When I try load page with Safari, I get where the Quicktime Playing Bars are a small Quicktime Logo w/? mark and will not download or play. But in Firefox, My iPad and in Windows side it will load and play. Also it play on a friends Macbook Pro in Safari. (Note it will play in my Safari after Firefox has play -it "very strange to me" like Firefox will open some port, but it will not stay open if quit Safari re-booth-it) I have remove the .plist for Quicktime & Safari. And clean out the Cache for Safari. Also have re-set the Firewall setting to Enable Stealth Mode only. Re-load the site to GoDaddy. This is happening to both Mac's in my network and in all users accounts.
My Network is a A&TT with a 2Wire w/wrieless turn off. going into and Airport Extreme Base Station w/N generation network. One computer is connected with and ethernet cable to the Airport extreme base station the other is a wireless contection.
I do feel this and network issue and I can't seem to solve-it. How can I get Safari to open the port and download and play-it on my network?

We've only discover this yesterday. One of our listeners sent me an e-mail about-it. With a little more research this morning. I've discover that everybody I've had check-it is have the same problem only with Safari 4.0.5. So I'm starting to feel that this is an Apple Safari Bug in 4.0.5 for the Mac only. It seems to be OK everywhere else on other devices. I agree in most cases this is not a problem. But when have older people who do not download into iTunes around the world it is to them. We have 250 or more listeners a week. This is a Church podcast.
For right now we are planing to post a message on the site saying you will not be able to listen to the podcast in Safari, but can in Firefox and ect.
