Images save as empty files

Can't download images. One of two things happens
Situation 1:
- Save image
- Dialogue box "Moving [image123.jpg]"
- Stuck downloading. Stays there until I force quit via task manager, also forcing Windows Explorer to restart
- Image is saved as a 0-byte file
Situation 2:
- Save image
- File saves as 162-byte file
- I have to copy paste the image into an image program and save it manually.
Possible causes
- Addons (I haven't downloaded any new/different addons though?)
- Malware (I just nuked and reformatted my laptop a few weeks ago...)
- Firefox update (Found others who have the same problem, but I never saw any useful solution)
If anybody knows a solution that would be great. Thank you so much in advance.

''Malware (I just nuked and reformatted my laptop a few weeks ago...)''
Add/mal-ware sneaks into you computer. Some thru an e-mail, some thru
an installer (loads other programs also).
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

  • Save an 16 bits grayscale image in a bmp file

    Hello,
I need to save a bmp file using an I16 grayscale picture.
I already did the following VI that saves the picture in bmp but the colors are not good : there is only blue levels.
I think there is a problem with the type of data that feed "array to color image" or with the colorscale but i don't manage to find where.
    Hope you can help me.
    Tank you.
    Ben

    Hi
The arraytocolorimage expects U32 because expects a RGB color, try this instead of the "toU32"

    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I updated to one of the firefox versions (Not sure which one it was)

Thanks Alex, but sadly I already tried that. Neither .docx or .xlsx files show up in the content list. They both show as a Chrome HTML document so changing how Firefox addresses those doesn't help since it thinks its the same type of file. I don't think I can manually add files into the "Content Type" left side nav.

  • Help - problem with save for web when jpg image is placed in file

I have a jpg image that I placed in my Illustrator 5 file to use as a backdrop and then created several vector buttons on top.  When I attempt to create an arboard around a single button and then save for web, it ignores the artboard dimensions and shows the entire jpg dimensions.  If I create the same file without the jpg backdrop image, I am able to use the artboards to save just a single button.  Any time I place a jpg image in my Illustrator file and attempt to use the artboards, the artboards are ignored and the entire area of the jpg is saved.  I am able to use the slice tool to do the saving, but I prefer to use the artboards.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the artboards to work when a jpg is placed in the file?  Thanks.

    THANK YOU!!!
It says, "Clip to artboard".  I wasn't sure what clip meant, but that was it!  Thank you.

  • How do I save Lightroom image edits in source file?

My experience with the trial version of lightroom is very positive in terms of the convenient and powerful capabilities for editing images and the associated metadata.  But I can't find a way to save the "develop" edits to images into the source file for the photo I am working with.  So far, I am able to save the metadata into the file but not the image editing.  From what I read, I fear this is not possible without silly round about exporting to new files then copying / moving multiple copies around, etc. Without this ability, I am pretty sure I will not purchase lightroom and will miss out on all the powerful features.  Without an OPTION that turns on the equivalent of a SAVE button, managing my photos collection would be a nightmare.
So my question is: How do I save the edited (i.e., developed) version of a photo back into the same file where the original photo was stored?
Please, please spare me all the reponses telling me how stupid I am for wanting to do this and that the cognisenti and professionals would NEVER do this.    But please just tell me there is a secret place to turn on this option in lightroom.
    Thanks in advance.

I had the same requirement to save in JPEGs files all non-metadata edits performed in Lightroom, in order to share modified pictures without duplicating files. By the way, I think it’s going to be more and more required by casual Lightroom users, as people get used to instant photo sharing in many situations where quantity matters more than quality
Here’s a nearly automatic (at least, scalable) solution that works, although it slightly lowers the quality by re-compressing the original pictures.
    Once for all:
Download and install the wonderful Lightroom plugin “jf Run Any Command”, provided as donationware by Jeffrey Friedl here: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/run-any-command. This “export filter” plugin allows you to run a command of your choice with each exported file, as part of the export while it’s going on. (You may also browse Jeffrey’s blog to find many other useful and beautiful things.)
In Lightroom, pre-define an export settings as follows:
Export to the hard drive, to the original picture folder, without adding the exported file to the catalog
Name the exported file “EXPORTED-{Filename}” (or anything different from the original file name)
JPEG format, 76% quality (see An Analysis of Lightroom JPEG Export Quality Settings at http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/jpeg-quality)
    Keep all metadata
Here’s the interesting part, the Run Any Command settings:
Command to execute for each exported picture: copy "{FILE}" "{Path}\{LIBRARYFILENAME}" (this replaces the original file with a copy of the exported file)
Command to execute upon export completion: del {FILES} (this deletes all exported files).
NB: One could wonder why not directly export with the original file name and silently replace the original files (I believe Lightroom would allow this). It’s just a matter of error handling: in case the export goes wrong, no original file is changed at all.
The easy part: each time you want to save edits:
In Lightroom, select the pictures to save, and export them with the pre-defined settings. You're almost done. The JPEG files are ok, but inside Lightroom you see the modification effects doubled, as their specifications remain in the catalog database and they apply on modified JPEG instead of the original files.
While the entire set of "saved" pictures is still selected, in the Develop module switch Autosync on and click Reinit to erase all modification specifications from the catalog for all pictures, then press CTRL-S to write down to disk any metadata updated by Lightroom -and accept if required to confirm that Lightroom values should replace externally set values.
    Stephane
PS: Papa Ben, I'm curious about the decision you  finally made

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Take screenshot and saves the image to a PNG file

    Hello,
How can I take screenshot and save the image to a PNG file?
    thanks,
    Avivit.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

this is a quite reproducible problem. Some more clarification on my part might help:
I have a loop that contains, among other this, (1) a sub-VI that prints-screen and saves as a png and (2) a sub-VI that emails me the png file as an attachment. The 1st sub-VI simply uses the user32.dll to simulate a print-screen key stroke, calls clipbpard get image, and then formats and saves the image to a png file using the built-in VI write-to-png. This loop should update this same png file, because the path does not change. However, I've noticed that while the loop is running the png file does not update. It simply keeps sending the 1st image it took. The image updates if the VI stops and is run again. I assumed the problem was either with the clipboard not updating or the file not writing.
I think the png file remains open while the main VI (i.e. this loop) runs because I cannot delete the file while the VI is running, only once it stops or is quit. Windows gives me an error that the file is currently in use by labview. Therefore, I think the file is not updated because it remains open.
I've attached the print screen VI. Feel free to stick it in a loop and give it a try if you don't spot something obviously wrong. I did not include the main-VI that I actually use since it contains a lot of instrument I/O, which would prevent someone testing the VI.

  • Selecting images for "Save metadata to file"

To improve performance we're being "encouraged" to turn off "Automatically write changes". Which means I now have many images scattered throughout the catalog that have metadata changes of some sort on a regular basis. I agree that with the automatic write turned on, LR's performance is horrendous for any kind of metadata change, but turning it off means having to regularly and frequently manually save changes.
Is there some mechanism that can be used to select ONLY those images that NEED to have the file updated rather than displaying all 36,000 images and starting the "Save metadata to file" and rendering LR unusable for hours? There HAS to be a better way than this blind, sledgehammer approach.

    >Is there some mechanism that can be used to select ONLY those images that NEED to have the file updated rather than displaying all... There HAS to be a better way than this blind, sledgehammer approach.
Lightroom will only update those images that need to be updated. In other words, only those images were the metadata change date stored in the catalog is newer than the metadata change date stored in the file. The same criteria applies to the auto write to XMP feature. Furthermore, selecting a folder and choosing
Save Metadata from the folder context menu is
much faster than selecting the files and choosing the
Save Metadata to File command found under the Metadata menu.
It's also worth noting that any time you select multiple files Lightroom will spend time "accumulating" existing metadata. IMO, this is one of Lr's most painful and unnecessary performance drags. The more files you select the longer Lr will take to accumulate the metadata. So, you really should avoid selecting large numbers of files. If you can't avoid making such a selection then it's best that you deselect them immediately after issuing the Save/Read metadata command. Doing so will save yourself a
    lot of time.

  • FAQ: When I apply edits to an image using Revel, does it save a new file or just the edits?

    Q. When I apply edits to an image using Revel, does it save a new file or just the edits?
    A. Revel cloud keeps a copy of your full resolution originals. Edits in  revel are non-destructive, so your original is always preserved (unedited). When you export photo (MAC) Save to Camera Roll (iOS), that's when Revel applies your edits. On iOS the preview is used. on MAC the full resolution of the original is used to generate the new edited photo.

    Thanks kumars ,
I have a specific drag and drop area on our website. This works fine for all earlier releases of Firefox after these security settings
"(1) Enter "about:config" in the URL field; (2) Right click and select New->Boolean; (3) Enter "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support" (without the quotes) as a new preference name; (4) Click OK and try loading the file again."
Bust these settings not work for me in Firefox 17.
Yes the drag and drop functionality is java script based and i am not using any script blocker addons.

  • IMAQ multiple images saves to files

I'm developing a confocal microscope with multi-axis control where I
use servos and motion controller cards for the works. I managed to
generate vivid images of semiconductor images in 2D plane (x,y) from a
Laser Diode source reflectance and optical feedback, but would like to
make slices along z-axis so that I would have completely define a
    stacked image i.e. I= f(x,y,z) (hences, a 3D reconstruction from 2D
planes) in this manner I need to displace a z-motor from a range (+),
zero, to (-)in each displacement I would have then generated a 2D
image save and kept into a file. I have a problem with IMAQ VIs on how
to do this exactly when I need to repeat the steps and file saving to
a disk? Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Hello Bruce, this seems pretty much ok only if I have a camera in
place. But this design does not and will not use one because it is
essentially an optical imager by itself (call it a laser diode
reflectance microscope). So, the images are generated from optical
reflections converted to voltage by a Laser Diode (and its
controller). What I do is spot a surface get some light intensity on
it move the stage to another spot until I covered an area (m x n)
pixels. So, my problem really boils down to how IMAQ Vision do a
multiple save of this 2D arrays with increments on z-axis (servo
motor). Attached is an screenshot and a sample image from my set-up.

  • I want to update forms in the response file and save it. Sometimes it works, but often I need to save the response file in another name. Very inconsequent! How come?

I have a form that I am sending out and compiling in the response file. These forms I also want to be able to update after receiving them (when I have them in the response file).
But when I do the updates I need to re-save the response file with another name? The strange thing is that sometimes I can just update and save exactly the way I want it. But most of the time I get the message "This file may be read-only, or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder."
Can someone please help me to figure out how to solve this issue. I know that I am the only one that has the file open. I am encountering the same issue in both Acrobat Pro 9 and Acrobat Pro X. (File was created in Acrobat Pro 9)

    Good day!
A simple Paste does not work for you?
It should place the clipboard content as a new Layer which you can then move around.
If there is any chance that the elements need to be scaled, rotated etc. I would prefer to place them as Smart Objects (File > Place …) and do the masking that is specific to the images themselves in those.

  • Empty file receiver - file adapter

    Hello,
    Scenario: File->XI->File.
In my scenerio, I am using Java mapping to name the target filename and creating text file that is later sent to FTP, in that way I don't have to use content conversation, to save performance...
I am on PI7.1 version so I have checked the options (Processing Parameters) for empty file handling in Sender/Receiver file communication channels.
Issue:- Though the target file is created but it always contain 1 byte(NULL character). Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Anshul

    > In my scenerio, I am using Java mapping to name the target filename and creating text file that is later sent to FTP, in that way I don't have to use content conversation, to save performance...
    >
The java mapping is genarating output as text file, right??have you tested your java mapping in NWDS or eclipse, because when you test in Operation mapping you will get error for text file, because it is not well formed.
if your java mapping genarating text files perfectly then file content conversion not required at all, just give file name in Communication channel.
    > I am on PI7.1 version so I have checked the options (Processing Parameters) for empty file handling in Sender/Receiver file communication channels.

Why you have selected  empty file handling??it is not required.

  • PS Elements 8 - "Save As" PDF File Sizes Huge

In Photoshop Elements 8.0, Photoshop PDF file sizes are huge when using the "save as" function, using JPEG compression.
No matter which "Image Quality" is used, the resultant PDF is huge. At "high" quality the file is 20 MB. At "medium" quality, the file is 15 MB. At "low" quality, the file is also 15 MB, much too large. This was not a problem in older versions of Elements. File sizes were typically just more than 3 MB.
If I save the image as JPEG files using "maximum" (10) quality, "medium" (5) quality, and "low" (3) quality, I can insert the image(s) into Word and use the Acrobat Pro PDF printer driver to get PDF file sizes of 1.8 MB, 1.3 MB, and 1.1 MB. These PDF files are perfect. Even the lowest quality is perfectly readable for my purposes. The older versions of Elements worked fine so I didn't need to take the step of saving in JPEG format, importing to Word and then printing.
Does anyone know if Photoshop Elements Version 8 is capable of saving PDF files in the smaller file sizes?  Is there a plug-in I can purchase that would give better results?
Photoshop Elements Version 8.0 (20090905.r.605812) with all updates applied.
    OS = Windows 7 Enterprise (6.1, Build 7600).
Thank you for any help or adevice.

I'm dealing with the same situation.
With Photoshop Elements I use to scan a picture at 300 dpi, save as PDF file, jpg compression medium low
quality and alway got files under 5 Mb, even lower than that. Colour or black and white pictures.
Now with Photoshop Elements 8.0 did the usual procedure but the pdf are huge, larger than 8 Mb, even more
    than 10 Mb !
Am I missing any detail in settings program, perhaps ?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Save as PDF file as excel file or text file in vba excel

    Abhijeet

    Hi,
In the documentation for the saveAs function it has the following params
cPath The device-independent path in which to save the file.
cConvID (optional, Acrobat 6.0) A conversion ID string that specifies the conversion
    file type.
cFS (optional, Acrobat 7.0) A string that specifies the source file system name.
bCopy (optional, Acrobat 7.0) A Boolean value which, if true, saves the PDF file
as a copy. The default is false.
bPromptToOverwrite (optional, Acrobat 7.0) A Boolean value which, if true, prompts the user if
the destination file already exists. The default is false.
In order to get a text file saved you need to specify the correct cConvID.
See the documentation for the valid convID's - http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.519.html
Please note the Acrobat SDK contains all the information and does not require much installing ( as it is a zip file(on windows) and a disc image (on Mac) it just needs extracted)

    Malcolm
