Images saved from internet websites

Help. It seems that when we e-mail photo's (even a single photo), the slideshow is capturing images from internet websites we have visited previously. How do configure the settings such that website images are not saved and thus potentially added to photoshop? It tends to confuse folks to whom we send photo's when they start to see images from websites the kiddos visit (Disney, Nickelodian etc.).
Thanks,
Tim

Vibha, thank you very much for taking time to try to help. I think Jim Jutte also suggested what you did, and I have made the adjustments. Because of my concern over this matter however, I stopped using Adobe for my pictures. So I'm not sure if it will work.
What will let me know is when a friend e-mails me some pictures using Adobe Photohouse, and if it has the 'slideshow' feature with it. I will try it and that will no doubt show me if my adjustment worked. (Actually, I guess I could send myself some pictures to one of my own e-mails, and that would tell the story, huh?)
Nevertheless, thank you.
Karen

When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website using Safari, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." When I save the same PDF file using FireFox it opens up immediately. Is there any way to correct this problem with Safari?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Images saved from Mobile Safari are significantly degraded

When I tried to use an image saved from Mobile Safari as my wallpaper I noticed that it looked horrible. It was blurry and more importantly the dynamic range of the image had been compressed, blowing out all the detail in the bright areas of the image and making it contrastier. This is especially bad on the type of photo I was trying to use, a high-key image, where most of the detail is in the light tones. Much of the image was simply displayed as blank white.
As a test I tried emailing the image I had saved into Photos to myself and compared it to the original I had saved from the web. Sure enough, the image was blurrier and had less dynamic range so it's not just an iPhone display issue. Also, the image was only 27% smaller in file size and the pixel dimensions were actually slightly increased. A quick re-save in Photoshop with JPEG quality set to low (4) reduced the file size by 53% while still not affecting the image anything like what the iPhone did. So it doesn't make sense that the poor quality is only due to resizing for faster transmission.
Can anyone else confirm this or replicate the issue? I've verified this with a 1st gen and 3G iPhone side by side, both running OS 2.1.

    No, it's not only you.
I noticed it too. As a matter of fact, I just posted a really long post in a thread about iPhone/iPod Touch's photo quality.

Yes you can!  Go to Settings --> Privacy --> Photos and toggle on the apps that have asked for access.

  • Cannot locate images saved from CS5

I recently upgraded not only from CS3 to CS5, but also from a PC to a Mac. I am having trouble locating some of the images that I am saving from CS5 in the folder that I saved them in. For example, I edited approximately 10 images and saved them into a new folder. When I started to upload them, I noticed that 4 of them were not in the folder that I saved them to. I checked first to make sure I had not saved them in the original folder, and I didn't. Next, I checked the images in photoshop to see if they had been saved. And they had been. Then I tried to save them again into the folder and it told me that this file already exists. But...it's not there. Or at least I cannot find it. Anyone have any idea where these saved images are hiding?

On Mac, the default folder is your user document folder - very much like on a PC. It's actual location on the mac volume is Mac HD:Users:Abingram:Documents, assuming default names. You should have no problems finding them. Saving them to another location should work just the same, but since user management is more rigid in UNIX environments, you may simply not see it if it is in a system folder or another user's folder. OSX actually hides some of these folders then and they are excluded from your personal Spotlight search. To circumevent this and recover your files, you might try to grant yourself admin privileges temporarily in your user control panel ("User can manage this computer"). If you are the only user, this already should be the case and then you may need to check folder permissions by invoking the info panle (Cmd+I)...

  • Images saving from Photoshop to Lightroom are saved way lighter

I first work on an image in Lightroom. Then, I sent a copy with LR edits to Photoshop where I continue to work on the image. When I am done editing in Photoshop and Save - the image goes back to LR, but the Photoshop Tiff copy in LR is far lighter than the image that was saved from editing in Photoshop. If I open the PS image from finder it looks fine - it is darker than the same file as seen in LR.

No problem. Waiting for a video rendering and upload to finish ;-)
If it is fixed in another account than it is highly likely that a develop preset or default gets applied to your images. This happens quite easily and has happened to me unknowingly too. Basically you would by accident have hit the Reset button in Develop while the option key was pressed. What you want to do is to go into Preferences->Presets and hit the button that says "Reset all default Develop settings". Then hit reset on your image. If none of that works, you can always trash the Lightroom preferences file. Quit out of Lightroom, go to the Finder. Hit command-Shift-G. Type ~/Library/Preferences/ in the display that you get to reveal the hidden by default preferences folder in your home account. Find the file that is called com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist (you might not see the plist extension on your computer) and drag that to the trash. Now start Lightroom again and your Lightroom should behave as if you just installed it. You might have to point it to your catalog file if it doesn't open with it there but with an empty catalog. File->Open Catalog-> select your main catalog.

  • Does JOURN.E AIR 1000 support RSS image slideshow from internet server?

    Hi,
I'd like to know if the journ.e air 1000 is capable of displaying an rss slideshow of images generated from an intranet server by recalling an http page
    (http://server/RSSGenerate.aspx)
    Thanks

    Hi
As far as I know the RSS feed list is already configured.
You may use arrow up/down on remote control to select a proffered entry or tap OK pre press OK button on the remote control in the Add box Enter a desired RSS free directory using keypad below.
Tap OK or press ok on the remote control and a list or RSS titles appears to the left. Use arrow up/down to preview the content of each titles.
This works using an local storage.

  • I am getting errors upon use of JPG images, saved from Photoshop, in Encore.

How do I use Photoshop JPG images in Encore without errors?
When using camera jpg images, saved by Photoshop (either save, or image manipulation like autocolor then save, no other Photoshop options were tested), Encore will either :
    1) generate an image import error: "The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system.  Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem." and be unable to import the image,
    2) Image import stops before completion (Encore stops responding and must be Closed by Windows Task Manager), or
    3) with a number of images imported, upon attempts to create a Slideshow, Slideshow creation will stop while in progress, and Encore does not respond (Encore must be Closed by Windows Task Manager).
Import and Slideshow creation using untouched camera images is nominal and uneventful.
Import and Slideshow creation using PhotoShop(64bit) GIF (copy) images is nominal and uneventful.

The common cause of this issue is still image files where the pixel size is too large. This warranted its own help page, which is now a dead link.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/error-software-used-decode-media.html
But I assume the pixel size is the same whether you are processing them in Photoshop or not. but the main point is that the underlying problem is not about decoders. Encore encounters a problems dealing with the file and throws the only error it (apparently) has. So you are looking for anything like that: pixel size, changes between rgb and cmyk, extra metadata in files. Maybe even filename oddities (length, special characters).
I would look in part at what versions you are using and compatibility settings.
I would save them as png or psd.

    Hi,
I have a website where users can insert theirs hotel informations.
Most of them do not insert photos, I guess because the procedure is quite long and difficoult for the average user's skills.
I'm looking for a script that take as input the url of the website and give as output the urls of the images of the site, so the user can decide which to upload on his tab.
    Someone can help me?

You have to improve your design. Even if you can find the Coldfusion code, your design will still fall short in 2 ways.
First, it is unreliable, because you're depending on some arbitrary site to be available and up to speed. Secondly, it is aesthetically wrong to be collecting pictures, especially large numbers of them, dynamically from someone else's site.  Think of their copyright and bandwidth.
Fortunately, there are simple solutions. First, identify, by eye, the web pages containing the pictures you're interested in. Ask for permission from the owner.
You could indeed use Coldfusion's cfhttp or any other script to download the JPGs, PNGs, and so on. But then, why waste your time re-inventing the wheel? It is infinitely better to use a web crawler !
With most crawlers, you only have to supply the URL of the site, and the file extensions it has to grab (in your case, jpg, png, bmp, and so on).
One click on the button, and you have them reeling in. Automatically. Some crawlers are considerate enough to enable you to adjust the download bandwidth. (We can learn from a million years evolution wisdom. The vampire bat is known to inject a painkiller before sucking!).
Now that you've downloaded the images to your site, the links you display to your users are all yours. You may choose to resize some of the images, display them as you wish, and the issues of reliability and bandwidth are now up to you.

  • Pics become pixelated when saving from internet.

Has anyone else noticed that after the most recent iPhone software update, any picture that you save from email is pixelated? My friend took a picture with her iphone and emailed it to me. I saved it to my iphone and when I look at it in my camera roll it is pixelated.
Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    JNK

It's exactly that. It's the update. The only real advice is to wait until the next update. I'm sure several thousand complaints have been sent to Apple reguarding this. So yea, just hang in there.

  • I have problems with uploading images to my printing company have the images have been manipulated through CS6 i have saved images as jpeg but the printer company tell me they are not j peg, they will not upload images save from a camera are fine

I have problems with uploading images to my internet printing company when  the images have been manipulated through CS6 and  i have saved images as jpeg  the printer company tell me they are not j peg,
but images saved from my phone or camera images that have not been manipulated upload fine, What am i doing wrong?

Save/Export them as JPG. Photoshop defaults to PSD, so make sure you select JPG and not just rename the file to .jpg.
There are two ways to save them as JPG: Regular Save as option or Save for Web & Devices
    Take your pick.
