Images scrolling into address bar

I was browsing a page avclub and scrolling down the page when I noticed the static image of a video appearing in the address bar of the current tab. I was able to repeat the effect right down the page. As I scrolled down and the page with video previews move up I could see them appearing in the address bar. No text just graphic.
When I switched to a new tab - which happened to be the addons tab I could see the image from the previous tab clearly displayed on the whitespace of the addons tab.
Today the effect occurred again with an image - not from avclub this time - showing through from one page to the next.
I have not seen this behaviour ever before. What could be causing it?

I can't tell from the system information you posted whether Firefox's own graphics hardware acceleration feature could be causing the problem. You could try disabling it, since it sometimes can cause artifacts (i.e., content fails to be cleared from the screen properly).
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

I just upgraded to the newest version of Firefox. In this new version it sometimes won't open a link even in a search engine such ask Yahoo. • Single word search term entered into address bar triggers redirect to same web site every time

When I enter a single word into the address bar, I am redirected to www.grindtv.com every single time, no matter what that word is. When I enter more than one word, the browser performs a search properly, according to my config settings. Changing config settings like keyword.url and keyword.enabled do not have any effect on the single word redirect issue.
All plugins and add-ons are disabled while troubleshooting and have no effect.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox (removing personal preferences) with no improvement. I have cleared all history. I have searched all config settings for "grindtv" to no avail.

Check the pref keyword.URL on the about:config page.
You can modify the pref keyword.URL on the about:config page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".

• Safari will not open any address that I type into address bar

When I type an address into Safari's address bar Safari does not open that website, it does nothing. Also if I enter something in the search box Safari does not go to the Google site.

Hi
Welcome to Apple Discussions
You may have a corrupted preference file or Toolbar item.
First, open Safari, hold down the option key, then click and drag the Address Bar off the top part of the browser window. It ought to disappear in a puff of smoke.
Next, go to your View Menu>Customize Toolbar. There, you can drag a new address bar back up to the bar, as well as any other icons on the panel. Select "done".
Now try entering an address. If that doesn't solve the problem, go to your Finder. In your User Account>Library>Preferences folder, move the com.apple.safari.plist file to the trash, then restart Safari. This step creates a new Safari preference file. You'll need to open Safari preferences to customize the settings to their previous state, unless you are satisfied with the Default settings.
Try entering an address.

• BEFW11S4 - help with ip into address bar

I have been having trouble connecting my xbox 360 to the wireless connection on my home computer, I figure it must be some kind of security setting problem. It doesnt recognize a wireless connection to connect to..there are a number of different things that have been suggested that I do to fix it, but before I can do that..
When I put my default IP address into the address bar, the settings for my westell modem come up, not for my linksys router. It seems as though that is the only way to access the linksys settings, so I cant even get started trying to fix the connection so my xbox can recognize it. How can I get to the linksys settings/config page that normally comes up when I put in my ip address?
Message Edited by Maxman2468 on 10-07-2007 08:04 AM

Go to Start, programs, accessories and choose the command prompt. Type in IP config. Three IP's should come up. The default gateway IP should be your router IP. Type that into your browser and it should bring up the router sign on page.

• S4 on Vista locks up typing into address bar

Safari 4 opens the home page fine. If I click on any links in that page they open fine.
When I try to type a URL into the address bar, it locks up. Even with just one letter typed. I haven't even hit 'enter'.
What now?

I get the same problem. I open Safari no problem. But it won't load a single website, not even the apple homepage. I try to go to google, myspace, anything, and nothing shows up. I'll close Safari and try to re-open it and it wont even re-open. I've been forced to go back to ie8 and frankly I don't enjoy using said internet browser.

• New websites typed into address bar or clicked from bookmarks will not load, links searched in google can not be clicked but if opened in a new tab the tab opens but nothing loads. This seems to hapen on a daily basis and requires a computer restart.

Firefox does not crash.
It is not unresponsive.
New websites can not be loaded.
Websites currently open in tabs are still able to be used and continue to work fine... all links in running websites seem to work.
Google is able to be loaded in a new tab (possibly because it had been run previously), search works but searched items can not be loaded.

• Copy/Paste doesn't work in Address Bar and Smart Search Field

Yeah, that's true. Say, I copied a sentence from a site. When I try to paste that sentence into 'Smart Search Field' and press 'Enter'. It doesn't work! Same thing happens when I try to paste a URL into Address Bar/Smart Address Field. What's going on? Anyone else having this problem?
PS - In case you're wondering what 'Smart Search Field' is, here's a pic http://images.apple.com/safari/images/features-search-smartsearch-20090528.jpg

Yes, I've got that too. It's not clear why it hits some people and not others. Haven't seen any commonalities among the reports that I can tell at the moment.

• No pasting in address bar

just came over from firefox using windows 7. pasting an address into address bar doesn't work. it either disappears or goes back to the last page i went to.
i can type in an address and it works just fine.
i am confused on why it is doing this.
never had this happen with any other browsers.

It was working fine with 4.x. Just 5.x is having this problem. It seems that the QA team at Apple is getting worse.

• An unwanted JPG image of handwashing came into my address bar?

I had not been looking for anything to do with health or handwashing. It was as if I had asked a question about preventing the flu??. I had just finished reapplying for California lifeline service on my telephone and had done it online. I then went back to my Web mail page & sent a message to Zoom panel whom I have done surveys for sev. years about why I hadn't been getting any surveys lately. I had just bfinished this when on my address bar a new address?? came up "1402.jpg(JPG IMAGE,425x338 pixels). When I clicked on it--itwas a picture of someone washing their hands vigorously--like in a medical illustration!. This had nothing to do with anything I had done all day??!! I tried to get rid of it--but to no avail.

If this image is open in a tab, you should be able to close it the way you close other tabs (for example, Ctrl+w).
If this image now appears on one of your toolbars, there are a couple possible ways that might occur:
(1) Is it a bookmarked site? If so, you can right-click the icon and choose Delete from the menu.
(2) Is it an add-on button? You can check whether you have any unrecognized or unneeded extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Any progress in eliminating the unwanted image?

• Shortcut image and address bar image

When user create shortcut on desktop, how to give special
image for a project?. when u create shortcut of adobe site, it
shows adobe logo. How can i do this?
How can i create special image on address bar...like youtube
got?.

First save a 16 by 16 pixel image as favicon.ico into your
root folder.
You can also add lines like this into your header:

All images should be 16 by 16.
IE6 will show the icon, under select circumstances, in the
"favorites" folder only.

• I am unable to enter a URL into the address bar.

Problem description: I can type an address into the URL bar, but when I hit enter, nothing happens. Nothing happens when I hit the "go" arrow. Nothing happens when I paste an address into the URL bar with "Paste & Go".
The awesome bar functionality seems to work, but when I select an address, it puts the address in the URL bar, but nothing happens.
It's just refusing to actually load any URL I type into the URL bar.
The bookmarks menu works just fine, as does everything else.
This occurred when I upgraded to Firefox 20.0.
I found the problem, but I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.
I tried disabling all the add-ons, but that didn't help.
The problem did NOT occur when using a fresh newly-created profile. You're probably thinking something was corrupt in my old profile. But that's not it.
The problem occurs when the profile is located on a network share. If I copy the profile to the local hard drive, the problem goes away. If I copy the fresh new profile to the network share, the problem starts occurring there.
I keep the profile on the network share because it gets backed up automatically every night. I have been doing this for at least the last five or six years, and it's been working fine since I don't know what Firefox version. 4 or 5? No idea, not important.
Here is my profiles.ini:
[General]
StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0]
Name=Joe D
IsRelative=0
Path=\\Splut\joed\.mozilla\firefox-win\Profiles\7ng20p6c.default
[Profile1]
Name=Copy
IsRelative=1
Path=Profiles/7ng20p6c.default
Default=1
As you can see, profile 0 is on the network share, and profile 1 is on the local hard drive. I copied the profile from the network to the local drive to create profile 1.
But wait! It gets even better!
They are not just identical copies. They are the EXACT SAME FILES. The folder for profile 1 is a symbolic link to the folder for profile 0. (Yes, you can do symlinks in Windows now.)
So the profiles are literally exactly the same, but one works and the other doesn't.
This solves my issue by allowing me to keep my profile on the network, but the other way should still work.
Any ideas?

There appears to be a problem with Firefox 20 with UNC paths when using roaming profiles on a server.

• How to change the default BC image that shows in the address bar?

Does anyone know how to change the default BC image that shows in the address bar? I want to swap it out so the client logo shows next to their URL.
Thank you!

Hi,
If you are trying to change the favicon for your site,
You can do it from Site Manager-> Page template -> Default Template
Look for the code
, and Click save.
Now where you will use this template, it will display your favicon for that webpage instead of BC favicon. You can define it on Page directly if you are not going to use template.
Please let me know if you have any doubt.
