Images sizes are incorrect in CS6

I was working on some images I had previously worked on in LR2. Cropped them to 11 x 14. Exported as DNG and resized to 11 x 14. Opened PS6 Beta and It showed them as approxiamtely 8 x 10???  Went back into LR2 and reset crop to origianl size (shot ona DNikon D300). Exported as original size and opened PS6. Now the size is approximately 9 x 14????
I wnat 11 x 14.
What is going on?
Thanks
Lee

Ok, let me go over step by step what happens.
1) Open file in LR2. Image shot on D300. Size is orignial size.
2) Crop image to 11 x 14
3) Export to folder Export actions set to resize to 11 x 14, DNG format. Should make no change but just in case. at 300 dpi the file size it 10.2 MB now.
4) Open DNG image in PS6.0 on my iMac. Data below image is Adobe RGB, (1998) 16 bit, 2338 by 2975 (7.0MPP) 300DPI
5) Click on Open image with no editing done.
6) Select Iamge Size from toolbar at top. Image size is 2338 pixels by 2975 pixels. Document size is Width =  7.793 inches  Height = 9.917 inches Resolution = 300 Pixels/inch. Canvas size is the same. What happened to 11 x 14?
7) Now go to the iMac desktop and copy DNG image to flash drive and move to Windows machine with CS5.0 open in PS 5.0.
8) Now click on Open image with no editing as in PS 6
9)  Same results.
When I set crop to 11 x 14 it shows I do a full frame crop, nothing left out.
So PS shows the iamge size (and canvas) size as 7.793 x 9.917 inches (my close to 8 x 10).
Why does it not show 11 x 14? Aslo, if the image size is 7.793 by 9.917, why does a crop set to 11x14 outline the image precisely with nothing cropped out?

  • Image size reported incorrectly

We have a studio where we shoot 1080p (1920x1080 resolution). When we upload these files into Final Cut Server the Image Size column usually (but not always) reports that the Image Size is 1440x1080. This was really concerning me, but when I export the video back to my computer the original media is still 1920x1080. The poster frame image is also still 1920x1080.
Any ideas why FCS is reporting the incorrect Image Size most of the time?

That is indeed correct. Good point. Are you working in 50i, bradleylamar?

  • Image dates are incorrect

I imported images from the camera CF card and the year was changed to 1903 on all the images. The system date and the camera dates were confirmed as correct. What's happened? I reformatted the CF card and will try importing new images today.
Recent convert to the Mac so still getting acquainted.
    Thanks

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I can't really explain why it went to 1903. However iPhoto has a date/time changing function. If you select all the photos in an album then change the date/time of one of them to be correct it will change all the others relative to that one photo.

  • Why is iTunes not able to pick up certain photo folders from iPhoto? Camera and image sizes are similiar to the ones which can be picked up.

why is itunes not able to pick up certain photo folders from Iphoto. i'm tryin got sync certain iphoto album into my iphone 5 but itunes is only able to read certain photo albums. not sure why because photos were taken using the same camera 1 day apart.
    pls advise.
    Thank you

i did but its still only picking up some of the photos. For eg, 1 folder had 147 pics but iTunes is only picking up 17. Can't seem to understand why. They were all taken on the same day using the same camera with the same settings.

  • Why can't I view an image in CS6 in the Image Size Box?

Does anyone know what I can do to view an image in the Image Size dialog box in CS6?  Tutorials show how it's an improved feature but, I can't view any images in it.  My version looks exactly like the old CS5 version with no window to view a photo.  Have I changed a setting to disallow this?  Any help would be great.

It's Photoshop CC (CS7) that has that feature, not CS6.

  • Image size problem

I was editing a catalog, the pictures were full size, eg. 2270 x 1704.  Noticed on the 931th image and forward, the image sizes are small, eg. 580 X 440.  Also, when looking at the pics on the hard drive, the sizes of the pictures had changed from MB for the first 930 pictures to KB for the rest of the pictures.  2 Questions:
    1.  How could this have happened?  The pictures were all downloaded from the camera (1 year ago) at the SAME time.  I do not remember changing any settings on the camera when the pictures were taken that would have impacted the image size.  This seems to have happened also on other occasions, ie. I get a mix of image sizes for some reason.
    2.  Now that it seems I have to live with the smaller images, will they be a problem if I want to enlarge them or show them on a large TV screen?

The small images are only around 110K to 200 KB.

  • Tiff file image size discrepancy

Hi All, I've created a mono, bitmapped image approx 400px square.
    Then saved the file.
If I go to 'get info' (I'm on an Apple Mac), it says the file size is 97k.
If I open the file in P'shop (CS5.5) and go to 'Image Size', it says the file is 19.2k.
Anyone know why I get two different files sizes?
    Many thanks, RP

I'm sure that the TIFF file and Photoshop "Image Size" are both 19 KB by coincidence. The "Image Size" is the number of bytes consumed by the uncompressed pixel data. A TIFF file has to contain a header, so the image data in the file will be compressed then the file header will be bringing the file's total size to 19 KB.
Photoshop embeds metadata in TIFF that your client most likely does not need. Use your Mac's Preview app to reduce the size of TIFF:
In Photoshop, copy the image to the clipboard.
In Preview, do "File > New from Clipboard" followed by Save with format TIFF and compression enabled.
(Do not open Photoshop-saved TIFF with Preview and then re-save, because the unnecessary info will be maintained. Use the clipboard.)

  • Reducing background image size

    Hi all,
I'm working with Captivate 4 and have made a screencast of a particular process for training purposes.
The project has 80 slides - but each background image is 1800+kb. Overall the project comes out at 3 MB even with the highest possible compression in the publishing settings.
The project is to be hosted on the Web so I really don't need this kind of detail in the background images and I can't find anyway to reduce the image size apart from exporting each of the 80 backgrounds into Photoshop, reducing them in size and importing them back into Catptivate. For 80 slides this would take too long.
    So, two questions:
How can the background image size be reduced within Captivate?
How can I change the settings so when capturing screenshots the image sizes are smaller in the first place?
Thanks in advance for any tips,
    Neil
    Is there anyway the

    Thanks Lilybiri
I've bene recording at full screen (1024x768 or close enough) in order to get the largest recording space possible - and then resizing the project to 800x600 for the web production. The problem is that there is no optimise for web setting (or none that I can see). I just did another test and each background image is 3000kb - way over the top for something that will be viewed on the web.
Does this help you get a fuller picture? Any advice?
Thanks for sparing your time to answer here btw - much appreciated

  • IMAGES - In a search of me, images of me are incorrect. Can they be removed? Or just show photos that actually are me or from my website.

When I am in Mozilla Foxfire and do a search, I get transferred to Yahoo. Then I do a search for myself to see what comes up. Where it says "images" there are images of me that are incorrect. How do I get rid of these images? I would like to have actual photos of me, which are on web sites. Or photos from my own web site.

Yahoo's search results actually are sourced from Bing. If you go to Bing search directly and run your search there, you can provide Feedback on the results.

  • Incorrect image size and low quality file (Photoshop CC trial ver. on Macbook Pro Retina)

At first, I set 500x500 size
but in workplace, it show smaller than 500x500 (maybe 250x250?)
I check on "image > image size" it still show me 500x500 pixels
    Save for web
After that, i got a 500x500 file but It resize from smaller to 500x500 , so... i got a low quality file.
    what's wrong?
(sorry for bad english skill but i really want your help)
Ps. it also incorrect when i set resolution as 300dpi

Pixel is not a measurement unit of length per se.
If a screen has more pixels per unit of length an image (when displayed as one image pixel per one screen pixel) would appear smaller than on a screen with lower resolution.
To make sure could you please post an image that is 500px x 500px (according to Image > Image Size) but seems to be too small to you?

  • I have problems with uploading images to my printing company have the images have been manipulated through CS6 i have saved images as jpeg but the printer company tell me they are not j peg, they will not upload images save from a camera are fine

I have problems with uploading images to my internet printing company when  the images have been manipulated through CS6 and  i have saved images as jpeg  the printer company tell me they are not j peg,
but images saved from my phone or camera images that have not been manipulated upload fine, What am i doing wrong?

Save/Export them as JPG. Photoshop defaults to PSD, so make sure you select JPG and not just rename the file to .jpg.
There are two ways to save them as JPG: Regular Save as option or Save for Web & Devices
    Take your pick.

  • Hello, we are interested in more information on the Image Size Fit To option in phototshop.  For example, if we open a 46x25 inch 120 dpi image and choose Fit to 4x6" does all of the resolution remain?  Any links to tutorials in this area are appreciate

Hello, we are interested in more information on the Image Size > Fit To option in phototshop.  For example, if we open a 46x25 inch 120 dpi image and choose Fit to 4x6" does all of the resolution remain?  Any links to tutorials in this area are appreciated.

Let's look at the first thing: Aspect Ratio  46W x 25H does not fit 6W x 4H exactly. You get 6W x 3.621H If we preserve Landscape Orientation and Aspect Ratio. If I set H to 4, W will be 7.36 inches, clipping your picture.
You'll have to decide on how to clip off that 1.36 inches so your picture can be 4 x 6 in order to solve that problem.
Notice I set Resample off. Throwing out pixels is destructive editing. So what I am doing is "Scaling", changing the Print Size without touch the pixels. Notice how high the resolution goes up.
To Resample or not will be your decision.  I hope I answered your questions properly. Let me know otherwise.

  • Can open pdf in CS3 with embedded images, put when opened in CS6 or CC the images are missing

Hi, Would really appreciate some help on this.
I frequently get artwork from clients saved as illustrator eps and pdfs files, that can be opened within CS3 and printed, no problem.
Having recently gone to CS6 and now CC I sometime find I can't open artwork supplied, as the images (links) are missing.
The same documents seem to open in CS3 without any problem.
Could someone explain why this is, and how I can open these documents within the newer versions of illustrator without the missing link problems
    kind regards
    Ed

I suspect your documents are some higher version than CS3 but lower or equal than CS6.
So in CS3 you actually open the PDF part with images ambedded, while CS6 accesses the Ai part without images.
You really should ask the clients to supply files according to whatever specification you need.
But you can also extract the images from the PDF parts of your file simply by opening them in Photoshop. Then select "Images" in PDF options and open the images you need.

  • New Image Size and Resolution in CC

    Hi there.
Ok, maybe i'm missing something, but how do i reduce the ppi's of a given image in the Photoshop CC? Changing it in the image size, in the Resolution field, it acomplish nothing. It logs an entry in the History panel, but nothing changes in the picture. Did Adobe changed how this works, or it's just a bug?
    Thank you.

Try setting to real-world measurement, like inches or cm.
Hi Charles, i think that change in cm/mm/in it's the only way to change the image ppi (in my case save/resample it to 108ppi). Can you confirm that this is correct?
Anyway when i go to image size (new panel of CC) the w/h are:
    1) grey and always set in pixel with resample flagged.
    2) always set in inches with resample NON-flagged (also if my ruler unit is in Pixel).
(and actually that is not new behavior. CS6 behaved same way when width and height were set to percent)
In CS6 and CC i never seen w/h in percent  - where is my error?
    Many thanks!
