Images went alien GREEN

Dear forum users,
First of all happy new year.
I am quite satisfied and glad user of Mac, but yesterday i turned off my computer before i celebrated new year and this morning (right now) when i turned on my Macbook again i found a bit of a surprise. All of my images had gone green in my image catalogue. And i must admit that i dont have a clue what has happend at all.
First of all i just thought it was a graphics driver thing, but when i logged into MSN i could see that people asked me while my profile picture had gone alienish.
This seems QUITE bizarre as it has broke all my images now and this is my only backup i have!
Does anyone know of this bizarre thing, that has destroyed my precious images?
Thanks in advance.

Hard to say what's going on. Boot into Safe mode. Hold down the shift key when the Mac boots and release it when you see the spinning cog. It will take a good while for the Mac to boot. Enter your password and launch Disk Utility and run Repair Disk. If there is anything in the Trash empty it now. Then reboot. If your greenie thing continues you may have a problem with the graphics card so post back.

  • Has anyone experience Mac Book Pro screen went alien green and black?

Hi...I was using my mac when the screen suddenly turned alien green and black, I can still use it though (like save the file and so on). It turn alright after you restart the computer, but I'm afraid if something has gone wrong.Does anyone ever experience the same problem? Does anyone know what is wrong with my mac? I start using this computer since November 2008. Cheers!

    Update:
I brought it into the Apple Store near my house once. Booted up fine twice. Brought it back, because the green and black vertical lines, and the inversion of colors froze the computer 4 times after the visit. The Apple Genius ran a MacBook Pro NVIDIA graphics card test, which went well until it FAILED one of the tests.
I had the option to have it fixed in the course of a week, but I thought that since it froze only a few times, that I could work through it (I have important final projects coming up), but now it won't start up. I will have to have Apple ship it away to fix it, because they are behind in their repair shop in the store. So, I will be without it for a week.
They said it had something to do with the logic board, which I think is part of the motherboard. So, I am glad I backed up most of my projects' data, as they said they might have to erase data when they fix it.
So, save your files onto external media (HD, flash drive, CDs, DVDs, etc.), and don't let this problem persist; have an Apple Genius check it out, so that you're not in my boat.
I wish you the best in your troubleshooting!

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Image to red green blue intengers

    Hello,
I'm trying to extract the three main colours of an RGB image to red green blue values (intengers). Those value will be the sum of all pixels values in the image.
    any ideas?

This was exactly it! Thank you so much!
For future reference - if anyone else gets this issue - you are able to enter kernel params when you press tab on the "boot linux" menu item when the iso loads up; this opens up the options where you can input the parameters and in this instance it was indeed nomodeset.

  • Why do my saved pics/images have a green mark on the all of a sudden after 4 months of non use on my G3?

I went to look aty images after not using my G3 desktop for a few months and all of the pics have a big green mark on the lower half of them, any ideas whats going on and how to correct it?

Who is your carrier and what is your coverage with them? If you are with say Verizon, and have Total Equipment Coverage or Extended Coverage, they will swap it out for you under Manufacturer Warrantee.

  • When I export an image with a Green label, it exports with a "Green" keyword! How do I prevent this?

I've added a Green color label to an image. When I export the image as a JPEG and then upload it to Flickr, I find a "Green" keyword that I don't want. How can I turn off this behavior -- i.e., exporting color labels as keywords -- while preserving the ability to export all the keywords I added manually?
I know the keyword is coming from Lightroom because I temporarily changed the Color label's legend to "GGreen" and the keyword "GGreen" appeared in the Flickr upload dialog.
I inspected the IPTC data of the exported JPEG image with a 3rd-party program (Irfanview) but could not find "Green" (or "GGreen") in the file, but all my manually-added keywords are there.
I've tried all of Lightroom's Export dialog Metadata settings.
    Thanks,
    -- Sam

New information and some screen grabs!
The new information is that the unwanted label "Green" (or whatever color label is selected) appears as a Flickr Tag only when no manually entered keywords are attached to the image in Lightroom. Adding even one keyword in Lightroom and repeating the export-from-Lightroom-then-upload-to-Flickr process results in no "Green" tag in Flickr.
The images are a) the Flickr upload screen showing the "Green" tag; b) my Lightroom Metadata presets -- everything unchecked; c) my Lightroom Export dialog panel.

  • Images turning yellow/green

I am running Aperture 3.1.3 on 10.6.8 and importing camera RAW from a Canon 60D. I've been working fine with Aperture for about a year, but when I started opening images in a folder for the third or forth time since I imported them yesterday, they are turning dark green, one by one. They look fine during the load, but once it completes, it's like the bottom drops out of the gamma.
I found a post suggesting I remove a few plists -- I tried moving the only one I found, but no luck (and all the Adjustments panels have now disappeared). I had made no adjustments to the image but I reset them all anyway; no change. Reopened Aperture, the adjustment panel is still empty. At first the thumbnail remained the normal color, now it too is dark green.
I'm afraid to open any other images.
Any one had this problem or found a solution? Borderline desperate here...

Just a note: Quick Preview is not enabled, and when I click Show Master, I a "Missing Adjustments !" message is displayed (for some reason I'm not able to upload a screenshot).

  • LR 5.2 renders images with dark, green-yellow colorcast

The fresh install of LR 5.2 renders all images - RAW and JPG - throughout the program with a very dark, green-yellow colorcast. The only place where images appear normal is in the Import dialog, while the thumbnail mode is active. Apart from that, every program module features this annoying reproduction. Here are some supporting screenshots (red rectangles are from me):
Import screen - thumbnail view - OK:
Import screen - preview - NOT OK:
    Library view - NOT OK:
Strangely enough, if I export the picture to JPEG - without any modifications - the image appears normal again:
LR version: 5.2.1, 64b (tried the 32b version too, same error)
    OS: Windows 8, 64bit
Camera: Canon 40d, imported images are RAW.
Did anybody else come across this? Any ideas as to a possible solution?
    Many thanks.

    Cheers for that! Problem solved
Windows 8 had the default manufacturer color profile associated with my monitor. Now I disassociated it and the colorcast is gone. Thanks again!
In case somebody else stumbles across this, here's what I did based on the helpful suggestion from ssprengel:
    Start => Run => colorcpl
    or
Control Panel => search for "color" => click on "Change advanced colour management settings for displays, scanners and printers"
Disassociate the color profile currently used by your monitor.

  • Deskjet 3915 every image prints in green tint :(

i have a deskjet from hp and its, i dunno, 2.5 yrs old? i don't use it that often either. but lately i've had nothing but trouble in printing color or anything with color in B&W also. if its a image it will most certainly come out green. whether its color, BnW, or gray mode or w/e its called. i've done the cleaning~priming phase and no help. i tired adjusting resolution or exactly which color or something like that, and still green tint. i recently reinstalled the printer and its software. that surely didnt help. its fully updated and the cartridges are recirtified buys from a website. but, i'm pretty sure about this, the first few prints with color came out fine. although the last time i printed a test page some of the color blocks were missing. mostly the lightest were there. not the pear one but the one right after cleaning the heads or priming n' such. according to its estimations the color ink has some left too. as for black, it reports empty but i use a refill kit for that and another printer in the house. could anyone help me? thanks for any help!
one thing i havent tried was make a mspaint image using colors or use windows word with colored font. not sure how that would come out but i'll get back to you all on that.

Interesting. The Screen captures you've posted have a green cast to them when viewing them on the forum but when I click on the image to enlarge, they are the gray you have shown in the color panel. I don't know if this will show it but

I am trying to print color images on my PhotoSmart C-7180 All In One from my Mac Pro with OS 10.6.8. All ink cartridge levels are O.K. I've tried cleaning the print heads twice, and I've tried Color Sych and colorsmart RGB settings to no avail.
I've reset the driver on line twice, but printer won't use magenta or blue.

You probably checked Safari in Settings > iCloud? This will sync bookmarks across all your devices that use your Apple ID, and one of them either lost its bookmarks, or they were deleted from that device. Is that possible?
Try this: double-click the Home button to see recent apps. Tap and hold the Safari icon until the icon appears. Tap it.
Return to the Home screen and tap Safari again. Fixed?

  • LightRoom 2 and Edit In Alien Skin Edited Image???

I have lightroon2 and I have added some edit progrms from Alien Skin ie Bohek2 The edit goes well and it gets saved but I have now idea wher it (finished edit) goes too. After the edit is saved the old image that I started with is all that comes up- I even tried the edit copy- still couldn't find the image. The Alien Skin CS rep did a hands on remote control and he couldn't find where the edited image went- any ideas?

I haven't used Alien Skin, but standard Edit-In behavior would be for the edited photo to be added to the same folder as the original.

  • LR 2.3 applies a green tint to RAW image AFTER making adjustments

    Hi all,
Thanks for having this great forum, it looks like there is some great information here. I clicked around the LR threads and the FAQ but I haven't found anything applying particularly to my issue/question, though, and I'm hoping some of you can help me understand what is going on. .
I have read about LR changing the colorcast on import, however in my case the images look fine after importing and processing. When I click BACK to an image that I have already processed, I am seeing LR 2.3 apply a green tint to it, and I have no idea why.
    What I am doing:
-Import Canon RAW files into LR collection (images look fine, no abnormal colorcast)
    Develop tab:
-I can click around the collection and view the images without any colors changing
-Process an image to my heart's content (image color still looks fine)
-Click to the next image and process the next one
-Mouse-over on the previously processed image on the bottom filmstrip, and preview shows up on the Navigator pane (preview looks as the image was edited previously)
-if I click to a previously processed image in the filmstrip, it will load into the center pane
-while the processed image loads here, the green tint gets applied to the image
-Color tint/green saturation has not moved from its previous position (even if it was moved during initial processing)
-In order to correct it, I either have to adjust the color tint slider about 20 points away from green, or dial down the green saturation to compensate.
Once I re-correct the image, I can click back to it again, and the mysterious green tint will no longer re-apply itself on this image.
This happens to most if not all of the images in the collection. I have only processed one other RAW collection in LR, but I did not have this issue.
I dont know what exactly is being changed to result in this green tint applying on its own, so I'm not sure if the adjustments I'm making are correcting it.fully.
I hope I'm detailed enough in explaining what I'm seeing, and that it makes some kind of sense.
Does anyone know what is going on here?
    Thank you!

Hi John, thanks for the reply.
Thanks, I'll look into the preferences in LR, although everything has remained mostly in its default settings. I've loaded JPG collections without seeing this either.
Would monitor profiles matter in my case? I ask because I am simply clicking back to a previous picture in the strip. When I leave the picture it looks fine, and returning to it shows that image but with the green tint. I haven't gotten to the point of exporting/converting the image, or anything further.
Some more information if it helps:
    Using MS Vista
    Using Canon Rebel XTi 400D
I copy only the raw files from the memory card to a folder, and then point the LR Import to that folder.
I will try replicating the issue on another computer in hopes to narrow it down. I am baffled.
