Imaging a Dell GX620
Hi!
Is it possible to get imaging to work on a Dell GX620?
It can't find the networkcard.
/Jonas
I'm using IR6...
I will try with IR7. Thanks...

I use zen imaging on many different models but I've just run into a problem with Dell GX620. It uses a USB Keyboard which doesn't seem to detect before the default on the bootcd defaults to the auto setting. I need to select the manual mode. I need to either fix the USB detect or find a way to change the bootcd.iso default boot menu. Any Ideas?
ThanksI've read this being an issue with the A11 BIOS version for the gx620.
You could try downgrading to an earlier BIOS version.. This should bring you to the A10 rev : Downloads
Hope that helps,

Trying to image a Dell Latitude D630
I am trying to image a Dell Latitude D630 laptop using PXE. It is set to PXE
boot in the BIOS. I select Maint Mode when the imaging screen comes up.
Output starts running on the screen as normal then all the sudden the screen
goes black and nothing else happens. I have to end up powering off the
laptop.
I saw a previous post where someone was having the problem and suggeted
toggling between CRT and LCD display on the laptop but this does nothing.
We are running Zen 6.5 SP2.
Any suggestions? Thanks for the help Marcus.
I tried adding the two lines but it did not work. I was finally able to
resolve my issue but using the Zen 7 SP1 Boot CD along with TID 3421576 to
get the laptop imaged. It looks like it is time to upgrade my Zenworks!
Thanks again.

Dell GX620 + ATI Radeon X600 + Sol 10 06/06 + dual screen?
Solaris 10 06/06 runs fine on a Dell Optiplex GX620
with the ATI X600 graphics card using a single monitor. I have attached another monitor of exactly the same type. Both monitors are working, however both monitors display exactly the same image of the desktop.
How do you configure Xorg to use both monitors so that you have an extended desktop? Please, help me. I tried to install sol 10 06/06 on an Dell with the same configuration but i was no possible. The Xserver coudnt load and during the installing the video device (ATI...) was not recognized. I have Windows XP in a partition and i tried to install solaris in another. Please tell me some ideas. Thanks

Problem with restoring an Image to Dell Optiplex 745
Hello,
i try to restore my image to my new Dell Optiplex 745 machines. I am
using ZFD4.01IR7 with the boot-cd from zenimaging.info which uses the
zfd7 imaging engine. I am able to restore the image but unfortunately my
local (and only...) Administrator is not in the Administrators group
anmyore. The Group membership shows only an SID, perhaps the old
Administrators SID... So i cannot install drivers for the included NIC
in order to use DLU for logging in with an Administrator from edir.
I know that that is an unsupported environment with the mixed versions
of ZfD but it works for other machines.
Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,

hmm.. bring down the image manually, remove the just imaged flag with
zisedit from ZISD, start windows and check if that helps
If you have already compiled drivers or have linux.2 please put them on

Need to re-image my Dell Venue 8 Pro
This is a pretty long explanation, but I hope someone can help me!
I have a 32gb Venue 8 Pro, and when I got it 12 months ago, I immediately made a recovery "disk" onto a MicroSD card, and deleted the recovery partition to free up space. I put the MicroSD card into a desk drawer, and went on about my business...
This weekend, I decided that I want to sell the Venue 8 Pro, so I hauled out the MicroSD card, popped it into the Venue 8 Pro, and went into the Recovery menu inside Windows 8.1. I started the recovery, but it immediately told me that I didn't have valid recovery media inserted. I popped the card out and back in a couple of times, but it didn't matter.
I gave up on the Recovery app, and went into the Advanced Options where I could do a "reset." The device rebooted, and showed me a menu where I could pick a backup "image" to restore from. It showed me an image with a time/date stamp that corresponded to the recovery image I had made a year ago, so I thought that all was well. I picked that image, told it to start, and the system appeared to be restoring successfully. Part way through, it rebooted, and now I get "internal hard drive not found" errors.
I have downloaded other people's factory Recovery images from various online forums, and I have the ability to make a recovery USB drive. I did just that, using Rufus to turn an .img file into a bootable USB drive. However, the DV8P never attempts to boot from the drive (when I connect it via a USB OTG cable).
If I go into the BIOS, and look at the boot options menu, I notice that the "Boot Option Priorities" is greyed out. I can't click/tap on it and select any options for it. The other four menu options are available to me, just not "Boot Option Priorities." I assume I need to do something to get the DV8P to see a bootable USB drive, right?
At this point, I'm all for any option that allows me to make the device bootable again. I have an external USB CD-ROM drive so that I could install from a Windows 8.1 disc, or I could make a plain old Windows 8.1 USB drive and install from that.
What's my best strategy for restoring/reimaging when I'm stuck in the state I'm in -- can't boot, don't know how to enable the correct boot options in the BIOS?
Thanks everyone!I'm having similar issues - I got a step farther than you (Still can't get it to boot though) - when you make your UEFI bootable USB drive, you have to make sure you select GDP boot drive in Rufus, that will allow it to boot via UEFI.
I can get it to start installation, but it gives me an error.
Not sure what to do - here is a link on my MS support forum :

Zenworks 6.x imaging - Dell Laptop D630
We are trying to setup a new image for the new Dell Latitude D630 laptops.
Problem is when we try to run the imaging program to get it started we get
kicked out immediately back to the prompt.
The last time we saw a similar issue to this was when we were imaging the
Dell Optiplex GX745's. We had to change the SATA drive type to Legacy and
Novell had to do some re-coding of our Zenworks software to make it work.
I am wondering if this is a known issue with Zen 6.5 and if an upgrade to
Zen 7.0 can fix it or if it can be taken care off without upgrading. ThanksHi Everybody,
we have got the same situation here. I managed to add the newsid option to my PXE environment and it works fine now.
My problem now is, that the harddisk is not recognized by Zenworks 6.5SP2 IR1. I guess its because of the new Intel chipset (Santa Rosa platform).
Do you have an idea how to get this working ?
Best regards
Stefan

When I try to image a dell 745 I get an error that says "No network
device found. Load a network module first" what is the cause of this.
What is the fix for this as well, can I just change some settings in the
bios to get it to work or do I have to download something.Jortman,

NIC driver absent on dell T5810
Hello
I have a problem imaging a Dell Precision T5810 that has me stumped. Sequence of events is
Boot machine off USB
Confirm Network connectivity
Select Task Sequence
Remove USB stick and Reboot
Machine comes back up and after awhile errors out with error "Unable to read task sequence configuration disk"
Opening a command prompt and running ipconfig shows that the machine has no NIC present

I can;t figure out why the NIC is present on first boot but when it reloads winpe the second time to begin the image process it is absent. The WinPE is the same version on both the USB boot stick and the SCCM server
I have tried
Booting off another USB
Booting off CD
Booting via PXE
Usingg a USB Ethernet apapter
But the results are always the same.
Any help would be appreciated as I have run out of talent on this issueHi,
I have finally found the issue that was causing DELL T5810 to fail the SCCM Deployment. The reason why was the Network driver from the DELL’s package was a wrong one, meaning, at a certain level of the deployment (Windows PE, maybe second
or third reboot later), when the package needed to be pushed, the machine lost connectivity get APIPA Address, as a result, the deployment would fail. It was hard to find the solution quickly because there was neither a log error anywhere which would point
to a missing driver nor an error while windows was online (as a workstation, not a member of the domain). Device manager also didn’t show errors or warnings.
I have found the right driver, not from DELL, but from Intel which worked fine during my troubleshooting.
I have then injected the good Driver into the DELL package and we retested a deployment which result in success.
The driver you find here:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18713/Network-Adapter-Driver-for-Windows-7-
the exact folder inside the PROWinx64 is:
PROWinx64\PRO1000\Winx64\NDIS62
When creating a SCCM package, use only the drivers inside the NDIS62 folder, the other ones dont work.
what I did, I just injected the NIC drivers inside my T5810 package I had already in my SCCM. Of course, later, redistribute to DPs and retest.
Good luck.

Image Deployment with no Volume Licensing
I need to deploy Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard via Acronis imaging software. The only issue that I am having is that when the "Master Image" is created it keeps the SN# to that particular license i.e. 2 machines now have the same license key.
Trying to find out if there is anyway to change the serial number after installation is completed or a way to install the program without having to use the key until the program has been launched for the first time.I have this exact same question! I'm submitting an image to Dell who, because of Vista, won't send laptops with OEM copies of Adobe anymore. So instead they are sending retail versions at OEM prices.
We can't go to Corporate because the price is substantially more so I'm stuck with either installing Adobe after the image is applied or finding a way to change the serial number of the installation on the image after the install. Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks,

What is your preferred method of remote bare metal hyper-v 2012 server imaging
I need to remotely provision (image) 32 Dell 620 servers (they have iDRAC installed), I will have system center 2012. I was thinking PXE boot and place images on the servers. I know I can use the iDRAC to remote boot a virtual ISO file and install the OS
that way. I am looking for a better faster and more pre-configured OS way.
I am used to using Shadow Protect (ghost like product) and making and placing 0 and 1 disk images on servers, I would like to continue along that vein. But with added ability to PXE boot and image the server that way. I am looking into clonezilla and want
any thoughts of success or failures with server 2012 deployment.
I understand that you can use system center 2012 to deploy images to your bare metal servers (lots of moving parts and looks pretty complicated) and that it will then deploy a VHD image file to your server. I am assuming that means it will boot to the VHD
file (hyper-v light) . I have heard this slows down disk read\writes and can cause some issues.
Thoughts with clear instructions please. Only link me to a website if it helps you to not type so much.
Also looking into the DELL KACE server.
Can anyone tell me if I need system center only or if I need Configuration Manager to image servers??
[email protected] visit my blog stephanco.blogspot.comYou can use SCVMM 2012/2012R2 bare metal deployment

I am using ZCM 10.3.3 on Windows 2003 server. I created a "Satellite server" for imaging - a Dell Optiplex GX280 wih a 70 GB disk for images etc for testing. I have now got a Dell PE2950 server to be used as my final imagstore and satellite server.
The problem is restoring an image (using bootCD) takes about 20 - 30 minutes for an 11gb image (win7) on the pc BUT takes over 20 hours from the server. Crazy.
Both boxes satellite devices - PC with 2 GB RAM and server with 8Gb RAM are side by side. Both using GB Nics. I can't figure this one out. Antivirus is set not to scan zmg files or the imaging folder.
Am I missing something?Issue resolved.
There were 2 Nic's in the server. I updated Firmware and drivers and then bridged netowrk connections between both. This sorted speed issues.

Thankyou J.I did a system restore on my system (Windows XP Pro) and cannot open Indesign CS3. When I tried the following error message appeared:
"The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall or call customer support."
I tried some of the suggestions here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402004
Indesign CS3 will not open so I cannot deactivate. The instructions say if you have an entire Suite installed, then you only need to deactivate from one application. But I cannot find deactivate anywhere in the other apps. Without deactivating, I cannot uninstall to reinstall.
There was no FLEXnet Licensing Service showing in services.
I tried renaming the FlexNet folder.
tried moving the cache.db file.
After trying these suggestions I now get the error:
"You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstall this product or contact Adobe customer support for help."

Upgraded ram on arch64 to 4GB, but only 3Gb is recognized
I just added a 2Gb stick of ram to my work system and the bios recognizes all 4Gb but Arch only sees 3Gb. I've booted multiple live 64bit cd's and the problem persists accross all of them. I'm clueless as to what may be causing this. ANY help would be appreciated, if I can't get to use all 4 gigs, then a simple explanation would be helpful.

I have read quite a bit about other people having this issue with other systems and I've gone all through my bios looking for SOME sort of option that I can at least play around with, but there's nothing there. I've also upgraded the bios thinking that "maybe" it could be something with that. The video card I'm using is a Nvidia Quadro NVS 420 512 Mb. I've tried disabling IndirectMemoryAccess in my xorg.conf thinking that might be messing with it somehow, but it did nothing. I just tried removing the video card altogether and running w/ the onboard video and alas! I recovered 512Mb, which I would be pleased with, but when I add the card back, the available ram disappears again. So now my question is this... Why would the kernel be reserving 512Mb of system ram for a card that has 512Mb of ram built in (at the same time not visibly acknowledging the fact that it exists)? Is this maybe a kernel option that I can pass at boot to disable it from reserving the system ram?
I'm sorry about the lack of the bbcode tags btw, I'm a first timer to the forums (however an arch user for some time now).
Thanks again for any input, it's much appreciated!

With regex, how can I combine backreference and repetition
Let's say I have a four byte long input string, consisting of four hex values: 0x03 0x03 0x03 0x03 If I use repetition in a regex string pattern: .{4} it matches true. Also, if I use backreference in a new regex pattern: (.)\1\1\1 it matches true.
