Imaging HP 1101 Netbooks

Trying to image HP 1101 netbooks, and of course the network card is not recognized by zen. Is there a way to work around this by using an acceptable usb rj45 network adapter to get the image done?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Imaging fails on HP MINI 1101 Netbook

    Hello,
I am trying to image an HP Mini 1101 Netbook. I updated to the latest Zenworks Imaging Updates (June 2011) and it just does not work. I tried the bootcd and it does not work. I tried adding newid 0x10ec, 0x8136 to the auto and maintenance files in the sys/tftp/cmds folder and that does not work. I have tried everything that I could find and it does not work.
The pxe boot goes all the way to the command prompt when I boot from CD, but when I try to image I get a message saying that the imaging server cannot be found.
When I pxe boot from the network I cannot get to the command prompt. It stops at the red box with no repository found which means that it does not have the correct drivers.
    Help Please?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

According to HP it has a Atheros network card and not a Realtek, are you sure that 0x10ec, 0x8136 is correct?

  • Will the NB305-N410 netbook support a full version of Window 7 (64-bit)?

I bought a Toshiba NB305-N410BL netbook a couple of days ago and I am wanting to upgrade the OS to a full version of Windows 7. I am looking at going to Windows 7 Professional (maybe Windows 7 Home) instead of the Windows 7 Starter that it came with but I am wondering if this netbook will support a 64-bit version of Windows 7. I have searched for the specs of this netbook to see what it would support but have had no luck although I am starting to think that it will only support a 32-bit OS. I am not looking to upgrade from the Starter version but doing a clean install of the full version of Windows 7 Professional. Any help or advice on the subject would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: I am also having a problem creating a system image. I want to have an image for backup just in case something goes wrong down the line. I first tried to use my external hard drive to create the image but it gave me the error message that "this device cannot be used to store a system image because it is not formatted with NTFS". So I decided that instead of reformatting my whole external hard drive, I would just try a usb flash drive. So I went and bought a 16GB usb drive and spent the last hour reformatting it to NTFS and I am still getting this error message: "The Drive is not a valid backup location." Does anyone know how I can use this usb drive to hold a backup image of my netbook's current state?
ANOTHER EDIT: Nevermind on the question about creating a system image on the usb drive. I just found out that you can't. :/

I successfully installed a 32-bit version of Windows 7 Home on my netbook but now I have a couple more issues that maybe you can help me with.
    - My scroll pad is no longer working. It was working just find right before I installed the full version of windows 7 but now it won't work. I really rely on the scroll pad for fast and efficient scrolling so I would really like to fix the problem.
    - 2nd problem: Is there any way I can change the resolution from 800x600? When I go to the control panel to adjust the resolution it won't give me any other options. Is the 800x600 resolution the only resolution my graphics card will support?
Thanks for any help in advance.

  • After install and first boot, Grub shows only flashing cursor

Hi so I recently successfully installed the archlinux image on my netbook. after finishing the config files and rebooting, he started grub normally, I could choose from all the menu entries I set. I had 3 other partitions before I installed arch, these were windows 7 starter, system (dont know what that is, he showed me that under windows but it is unrecognized under linux) and a windows 7 recovery partition (from samsung).
so I first checked if he would boot the windows partition but I forgot also to configure the windows partition entry in the grub config so he loaded the recovery partition. after a reboot he showed me just a black screen with a flashing cursor at the bottom of the display that moves from the left side to the right constantly. there is no error or anything, he even shows the text "loading grub" at the beginning but then I get that screen.
I still can boot my arch live image, here's the output of fdisk -l
    /dev/sda1    *          1        1959    15728640    27   Unknown
    /dev/sda2         1959        1972        102400      7    HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/sda3         1972      20841  151565496      7    HPFS/NTFS
    /dev/sda4       20841      30401    76798472+  83    Linux
also I tried to manually mount the partitions from the live image but I'm still kind of a noob with linux, should this be the right command?
    mount /dev/sda4
because that doesnt work, he says he "cant find /dev/sda4 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab".
I hope you can help me, thx

well...no I just let pacman do the update (where some things with renaming kernel files were mentioned). but considering the fact that I didnt update the system the first time the problem occured and the fact that booting from the windows recovery partition triggers the problem I dont think that the problem lies within linux or updating.
besides that I dont even come to the grub menu, he only displays "grub loading stage1.5" and then the screen with the cursor comes. He doesnt react on anything I try except the reboot shortcut.
and can you help me with my previous question? "And how can I manually install grub from the live image? I dont want to go through the whole installation again, only overwrite the existing grub and with it the mbr."

  • Netbook Mini 110-3830NR How do I create a restore image on a flash drive

I have a HP Mini 110-3830NR Netbook running Windows 7 Starter.
I want to create a restore image to original factory state.
The user manual recommends that I create a restore disk.
It further states that to create a restore image on a USB device, I need at least
    a 16GB device.
Therefore I purchased a Hp v165 16GB flash drive that actually contains
    14.8 GB of user space.
I could not find the correct info about creating the disk on the HP support
web site so I chatted with an HP Support technician. She eventually gave me
a link to a procedure that would create a restore disk for me.
Then she said I needed a 32gb flash drive !!
Is the user manual or the technician correct ??
    Can I use the 16GB (14.8 actual), or must I buy a 32 GB flash drive ??
    Thank You   fljim

I would just try to create it, the recovery creator should tell you at some point if it is big enough or not, orignally 8gb was big enough for most W7 system's HP sold, but as time passed they had to upgrade the size recommendation to 32gb.
the 16gb should be large enough for your model.
This HP document says al least 8gb minimum, use 16gb for best results, very confusing, I agree

  • Images not displayed on safari on netbook

I installed safari onto my netbook running windows 7 And no pictures are displayed. This includes logo pictures like the google logo.
Does anyone else have this problem and/or solutions to it?

    okay!
Fingers crossed we should be able to get your usual user account displaying pictures now.
Probably the most likely cause of this is a damaged setting or preference file for Safari. There's different sets of those in each different user account on the PC, so that's how they can cause user-account-specific issues.
I'm not sure what preference file is damaged for you, so I'm minded to replace all of them. Unfortunately, this will lose you your bookmarks, top sites, saved passwords etc. But there's a good chance we can get your top sites and bookmarks back again.
First you need to set up your PC to view hidden files and folders.
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
    5. Click OK.
Make sure Safari has been closed in any user account in which it is open. Log into your usual user account. Quit iTunes and/or QuickTime if you have them open. Go "Start > Computer". Go "Tools > Folder Options". Click the "View" tab. Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
Now, in Computer, open Local Disk C:. open "Users". Open the folder which has the user account name for the account in which you're getting the display issues. Open "AppData". Open "Roaming". Open "Apple Computer". Rename the "Safari" folder in there "Safari1" and drag it out onto the Desktop.
Now open the "Preferences" folder and drag the com.apple.Safari plist file out on to the desktop.
Now go back into C:\Users\username\AppData\ and open "Local". Open "Apple Computer". Rename the "Safari" folder in there "Safari2" and drag it out onto the desktop.
Now try launching Safari again, in your usual user account. (This should rebuild those preference folders and plist file.)
Are you seeing images in there now too?

  • No image on screen using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter

Received mini today.  After unboxing, read through the packet.  Then began to hook everything up as directed.  I used a Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter to connect the monitor from our now dead desktop to the mini.  After double checking all connections, I hit the power button.  I immediately heard the apple chime. Then the monitor showed the grey apple start up screen.  Suddenly the monitor went black and said it was going into sleep mode.  I can't get it out of sleep mode when connected to the mini.  It is NOT the monitor or the adapter.  I plugged the monitor straight into a netbook and it worked.  Then, I plugged the monitor using the adapter into my MacBook Pro and also got it to work that way.  So I tried replugging the adapter into the mini.  Still can't get an image on the screen.  I can't complete set up or use mini because I can't get an image.  Any suggestions or ideas?  I will call apple in the morning if I can't figure it out tonight.  But I'm hoping someone can give me suggestions.  Thanks for your help!

I had the same issue when I bought my mac mini last week apart from I wasn't even getting the initial grey screen. I went back to the Apple shop and they gave me another mini and fired it up in the shop using the adaptor on an old VGA monitor. It worked perfectly.
When I got home I set it all up again and still had the same issue. I nearly threw out a couple of monitors as I thought they were broken.
However, had a look around the web and found this suggestion:
Shut down the mac and disconnect the adaptor from it. Now fire the mac up and let it boot up FULLY. Once it has had a chance to boot up fully, only then plug the adaptor in.
Worked for me and I haven't had the issue since (touch wood). Hope this helps.

  • Opening raw images in Photoshop Elements 9

When opening raw images in Photoshop Elements 9 (File -> Open or File -> Open As), the Adobe Camera Raw dialog do not open.
Instead I get a window with a progress bar and the text "Reading Camera Raw Format".
The image then opens in the Photoshop Elements editor.
I have tested this with raw images both from Canon EOS 1000D and Samsung WB2000 cameras.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve this issue.
I run Photoshop Elements on a HP netbook running Widows XP and with an Intel Atom N450 / 1.66 GHz processor, 2 GB ram and a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.

Unfortunately you can't see the raw converter in PSE 9 on screens less than 800 px tall, which means not on netbooks. PSE will automatically convert it for you, but that dialog box and a few others, like the Advanced Downloader window, will not appear.

  • Photoshop crashes when loading a file or image

Using Photoshop cs3 on a PC with Windows 7 installed.
Major Problem: Photoshop gives no response when opening an image of any sort or psd file which ends out with the options to either close the program or close and find a solution online which gives no solution whatsoever.
PScs3 was working just fine when installed but after installing an NVIDIA plug-in did it start bearing some problems. When loading png files, a window normally appears telling me that Photoshop could not parse the file. After seeing this I went to uninstall the plug-in. The problem seemed to went away but shortly after was Photoshop crashing at random, and I do mean random. Starting Photoshop at first seems to nullify the chances of crashing but after either a short period of time or a long period of time will it crash when trying to open a file. Opening multiple files at once doesn't work either but when opening only one file into PScs3 will it cooperate until opening a second. I'm not sure if the plug-in is what caused the problem but I do know everything from there seems hectic. Every crash leads me opening PScs3 again with all of its settings reset from when I first exited normally.
    Plugin Used:
    Photoshop_Plugins_8.23.1101.1715
    Appications Type; 4,317 KB
    Company - InstallShield Softwere Corporation
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program?
Unfortunetly yes I have attempted this and the problem still occurs towards cs3. This makes me fear that the entire program is glitched.
Do you have any other plug-ins installed?
I've checked and there are no other plug-ins attatched.
This is my last option before seeing to reformat my computer. If there is any input about the topic, now is the time.

Just a hunch: change your default printer to something else (a locally attached printer, not networked) or "PrintToPDF", then relaunch Photoshop and try again.
It could also be a plugin (try disabling ALL third party plugins).
And it could be a bad OS install, a virus, etc.  It may take a while to find.

  • Netbook will not boot up

Hi, so I got a virus on my netbook a few days ago. I was going to get rid of it, but I got lazy and waited and tried to boot it up today. I got a blue screen and I believe the error was bad_system_config_info. It's hard to tell because it disappears so fast and restarts. I'm assuming the virus corrupted an important file, but I don't have an external DVD drive or a Windows xp disk.
I have tried for hours to fix it from my flashdrive. None of the guides I have followed have worked. I just do not know what to do. Can anyone help?
    Also, I have windows xp.

    Hey,
Do you have NB100? If yes the only the way to restore the original settings is using an external CD/DVD drive and restore the factory image of Toshiba recovery disk.
But if you have NB200 or newer you are able to start the HDD recovery
Just check your user manual. There is always a chapter about system recovery options and how to do that. It explains the whole thing really good and if you still have more questions youre welcome in forum ;)

  • Issues with images in Portfolio (Acrobat X Pro)

    Hi all,
I am having an issue with my portfolio file in Acrobat X Pro. I insert images from my hard drive, then proceed to give them display names and tags. This works fine, but then the next time I open the file, some of the pictures have become broken links. For those, the filename has been changed to the same as display name, even though I did not make that change. Once this happens, I seem to be left with no other choice than to reinsert the image and retag it and hope it doesn't happen again.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks.

Java is a different animal than JavaScript.
PDFs use JavaScript and not the Java programing language.
As mentioned the apps on the iPxd, iPhone and android devices do not show the bookmark panel. The user needs to open the option that looks like an outline and the bookmarks appear like a table of contents for a book.
The show pages and bookmarks only works for full computer, laptops, and netbooks with the Acrobat or Reader programs or similar programs, not apps for tablets and phones.
Do you have a smart phone or tablet to test your PDFs on?

I have a netbook NB250.  It has a built-in webcam but  I can't access it.  I re-installed the driver and looked in control panel and under my computer but there is not link to it.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

What's the full model number of your netbook? Look on a label on the bottom.
In the Start Menu's search field, type "Device Manager" and press ENTER. Is there an entry titled "Imaging devices"?
