Imaging in Headless Systems!

Is there any way for imaging in Headless Systems WITHOUT using the libawt.so.6 library and any other X-Windows library (ex. Non-GUI UNIX or LINUX )
Any post is appreciated
Regards,
Moh'd Saleem

I'm running Debian Linux without loading any X-Windows libraries. This is maybe the point that I miss. It works, but you have to load a set of Z-Windows libraries... in other words, when the headless mode is false. So i think the headless mode is not portaple

  • Windows 7 Backup - System image includes non system disk

    Hi,
    I am trying out windows 7 backup, hoping at last that I won't need a 3rd party backup solution.  So far so bad!
    My first problem is how ridicilously slow the backup is, but this has been discussed at length elsewhere.  My second problem is the backup stalls when I try to backup a folder which I know has got various bits of malware in.  I am an IT pro and use the files in this folder for testing purposes.  OK fair enough I guess, although I think the backup should handle this event a bit more elegantly.  So I've zipped and password protected the offending files to hide them from the AV (security essentials by the way)
    The final problem which I just can't understand is that when I try to create an image of my system drive, backup wants to add my D drive (which is purely a data drive) to the image.  My D drive is huge and I don't want to include it in a system image.  I keep my system drive lean and mean for exactly this purpose but now I can't back it up because the total size of C and D drives combined exceed the capacity of my backup drive.
    I know for a fact that the D drive has no consequence to the system boooting or operating, I have disconnected it and windows boots up just fine.  In computer management the D Drive is not showing up as a system drive, so why does windows think it is?  And why isn't there a power user mode wher I can choose exactly what I want in a system image, I understand you're trying to make windows easy to use for the average Joe, but this lack of functionality and in depth control feels more like a Mac than windows.... and I hate macs.
    So can anyone shed any light as to why my D drive is being flagged as a system disk, otherwise it's back to 3rd party solutions... AGAIN
    Thanks

    There is a solution.
    Microsoft usually have stuff that is not documented. For example Windows server 2008 comes with a command line utility that will allow the backup (in this case a shadow copy) of any drive you wish to a  backup target. The program is wbadmin.exe.
    According to some Microsoft sources it doesn't exists on Windows 7 but let me assure you that it does; I use it all the time, specifically to get round the problems you have described in your posts.
    I build VHD images and test them until I am happy with them and then I back them up as a system image and then rewrite them on to a system drive. I can only do this with wbadmin.exe
    To backup your c: to your d: (or what ever other drive you have space on in this case we will use d:)
     - Open a command prompt as Administrator
     - Run the following command:
    Wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:d: -include:c: -quiet
     - You should get output something like this:
    wbadmin 1.0 - Backup command-line tool
    (C) Copyright 2004 Microsoft Corp.
    Retrieving volume information...
    This will back up volume System(C:) to D:.
    The backup operation to D: is starting.
    Creating a shadow copy of the volumes specified for backup...
    Creating a backup of volume System(C:), copied (1%).
    Creating a backup of volume System(C:), copied (29%).
    Creating a backup of volume System(C:), copied (57%).
    Creating a backup of volume System(C:), copied (79%).
    Creating a backup of volume System(C:), copied (98%).
    The backup of volume System(C:) successfully completed.
    The backup operation successfully completed.
    Summary of the backup operation:
    The backup of volume System(C:) successfully completed.
    That should complete the backup. It should create a WindowsImageBackup folder in the dirve you backed up to.
    Restore as normal.
    There is one small but very important caveat: If you have any system files or programs that are linked to the system drive on your d: drive or elsewhere you may find that when you restore your system the links are broken. it should not happen if you
    have not made any changes before you restore but if you are like me who use the d: to store the bulk of the program files and just use the c: to store the system OS (on SSD... the need for speed! :) ) then you need to be careful... be warned!!
    That's all folks!

  • How to create an image of my system

    I want to create an image snapshot of my system as is
    What apps/programs do I need?
    Do I need an external hard drive to store the image?
    Do I need bootable media?
    On Windows, I use Acronis - do things work the same way in Mac world?
    Thanks
    Omar

    The Mac world is much like the Windows world you are used to.
    Included in the base OS are tools you can use to make backup images of your system, but they are not the easiest to use, and may not be the most efficient, but they are included.  You can use the "Disk Utility" or the command line "dd" tool to make a backup image of your boot drive. You can download free utilities to make disk images of your system, like Clonezilla.  You can also purchase "shareware" software like SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner to make system images too.
    As with any backup image you make of your system, you will need some media to store it on.  This is easiest if you use an external HD that is at least as large as your internal drive and then use one of the tools to make a bootable clone.  Going this route gives you a couple benefits, the first being that if your internal drive fails, you can connect the external drive and boot your system from it as if it were the internal system drive and be back running an a few minutes.  These can also come in handy to help troubleshoot problems.
    I really recommend using the third party tools like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!

  • How to read some images from file system with webdynpro for abap?

    Hi,experts,
    I want to finish webdynpro for abap program to read some photos from file system. I may make MIMES in the webdynpro component and create photos in the MIMES, but my boss doesn't agree with me using this way. He wish me read these photos from file system.
    How to read some images from file system with webdynpro for abap?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello Tao,
    The parameter
       icm/HTTP/file_access_<xx>
    may help you to access the pictures without any db-access.
    The following two links may help you to understand the other possibilities as well.
    The threads are covering BSP, but it should be useful for WebDynpro as well.

  • M30X-124: Power Saver image in the system tray disappeares.

    Hi,
    I own a Satellite M30X-124 with Windows XP SP2. When installing Toshiba Power Saver everything works just until suddently the image in the system tray disappeares. I then have to reinstall the Toshiba Power Saver (TPS) for everything to work as intended.
    By now, I have approx. reinstalled TPS 5 times. Does anyone know a solution or at least the problem?
    Greetz,
    Micha

    Hello
    Well, I think its not a Power Saver malfunction. I assume that the option Hide inactive icons in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties is marked.
    Move the mouse pointer to the Taskbar then right click. There you should see the Taskbar properties. There you can disable the option Hide inactive icons.
    Bye

  • Sending an image to the system clipboard

    I've been trying to figure out how I can send an image to the system clipboard. At this state I'm beginning to think it's just not possible. This is the case:
    I've got an applet running in a browser which creates a new window. I now want to copy the contents of this window to the system clipboard. So far I can only transfer text to the clipboard, but what I need is to copy a screenshot of the new window to the system clipboard.
    Does anybody know how this can be done with Java or any kind of scripting language?

    Since I already found the answer I rewarded 2 people for there help. This is the answer I found. Some code was found on the JDC Forum, but I can't remember who posted it or where I found it. So sorry that I can't give him credit...
    Using JDK 1.4 the code could look like this:
    -> This is how the policy file should look like:
    grant
    { permission java.awt.AWTPermission "accessClipboard";
    permission java.awt.AWTPermission "createRobot";
    permission java.awt.AWTPermission "readDisplayPixels";
    -> This is the code for the applet:
    import java.awt.*;
    public class ClipboardTest extends java.applet.Applet {
    public void init() {
    initComponents();
    initialiseer();
    private void initComponents() {

    MySystemClipboard cb = new MySystemClipboard();
    cb.setBounds(200,200,200,200);

  • Image of Bugzilla System Architecture

    I am looking for a high-level image/diagram that provides the Bugzilla System Architecture/Flow --Can that be provided?

    Hello,
    Currently such a document is not available. That said, you can use the Ravebrook tool to check the DB documentation [1] or check the API documentation to get an idea of what the components are [2]. Not the best solution, but something that is workable I guess.
    is there a specific need for this? Would suggest that you mail the bugzilla mailing list as they may be more helpful[3]

  • Image Now & Serengetti Systems

    Hi,
    we're currently looking at options for Document Management Systems and are wondering if anyone has any experience of these 2 companies and their solutions ? It would appear that they do not require any programming effort to integrate in most circumstances - is this the experience you have ? If programming effort has been required at your company, are you able to briefly describe what you needed to do ?
    thanks,
    Malcolm.

    hi,
    Serengetti sytems;

  • Operating System Image VS Operating System Installer - what does everyone recommend and which is quicker?

    I have worked out that all of the configuration in our windows 7 image can be applied through the task sequence after the operating system is installed. Currently we apply and image and then add configuration.
    I am wondering would I be better off just adding a Windows 7 installer instead of imaging? Which method would be quicker?
    Would be interested to see how everyone does this.
    One thing to consider is windows updates, as if we have an image (WIM file) we can inject updates to it through software update point on patch Tuesday to save having to apply them through the task sequence. We can't inject updates into the installer so time
    taken to install 100 odd patches has to be taken into consideration.

    The only reason to use an Installer post SP1 is for legacy OSes like XP or Server 2003 where no image actually exists on the media. Pre-SP1, there were issues with drive letters because of an on-going, back-and-forth mis-match of assumptions between the
    Windows team and the ConfigMgr that required you to build an image from the actual installer. This was resolved in SP1 through the use of the OSDPreserveDriveLetter task sequence variable. There's a also a supportability issue when using an OS Installer --
    I don't remember the details off hand though I know I wrote about them in the unleashed book if you are curious.
    Thus, unless you are deploying XP or 2003, you should be using images only -- either image.wim directly (which you really should only use in a build and capture) or yur recaptured image.

  • Draw image using headless mode

    We use a 3rd-party swing chart package to draw chart on the backend. Basically what we did is to add the chart(JComponent) to a JFrame, and take a snapshot. In the normal case with display device available, it works ok. If we use headless mode, it throws HeadlessException, and the frame is null.
    Besides Xvfb, is there any simple way to generate JComponent image on the backend? Or can I render the chart in different container to generate the image?
    Thanks

    you need to override one of the container class where you put your graph component such that it works with default values or uses variable values for its methods from alternate sources.

  • Sccm 2007 during image deployment set system bios password

    Dear Exprt,
    How to set bios password during imaging windows
    [email protected]

    ConfigMgr contains no facilities to do this as ConfigMgr does not manage hardware.
    You can however use a tool from the hardware to do this and of course run that tool using a run command line task in the task sequence to do this. This is all contingent on the tool from the vendor though; e.g., Dell has a toolset called the CCTK that does
    this and which many folks use during the task to before BIOS level configurations: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/1952.dell-client-configuration-toolkit-cctk.aspx

  • Mountain Lion Server cannot create NetBoot images for earlier systems

    I'm trying to create a NetBoot image for OS X Lion on my Mountain Lion Server using System Image Utility, but SIU shows the 10.8 installer as the only available disk for creating an image.
    The same 10.7 boot disk is shown as source correctly in Lion Serevr SIU.
    Does SIU limits the creation of NetBoot image only for the same OS X version or am I missing something?
    Ideas?
    Thank you!

    Yes. SIU for Mountain Lion only makes images of Mountain Lion.
    To make images for Lion, you'll need to download the Server Essentials package for 10.7.5 and install it onto a Lion system.

  • How to load images from file system and save in database

    Hello Fellows!
    I have a problem and try to explain:
    Plateform:
    Operating System: Windows 98, Form 6i and Oracle 8
    Table in the database
    Table:Emp_pic with columns i.e. (empno and pic type long raw)
    In forms, I have a data block which contain the columns of the emp_pic table and a control block which have a push button contains the trigger as follow, also attach PL/SQL library i.e. D2kWUTIL.PLL
    When-Button-Pressed (Trigger)
    Declare
    temp varchar2(400);
    Begin
    temp := win_api_dialog.open_file('Open File','d:\pic','*.tif',true,win_api.ofn_flag_default,false);
    read_image_file(temp,'tif','emp_pic.pic');
    end;
    The problem when I pressed the button it does not display open dialog box what is the wrong with the code or else.
    Thanks in advance
    (BASIT)

    What do you mean "it did not work"? You need to post more information, such as what errors you got.
    My guess is that it did work, but it ran on the middle tier, which is where Forms is running. Commands like that need more work to execute on the client.
    Go to the Forms area on OTN and download the Oracle9i Forms Samples. They have demos and source code to move files from the client to the server.
    Coming soon will be a utility called WebUtil which will make this even easier.
