Imaging Software

Thanks for your reply Chris, is this not just a cloning tool rather than a more interactive version as mentioned above?

Good Morning fellow IT guru's
Could I have your opinions on Imaging software for vast deployments. I have used MDT which I found was very good, in the way it allows quite a lot of user input options, such as which software you would like to include, selecting which os to install etc.
The only issue I had with it, which some of you may say is incorrect, is it did seem quite complex to setup.
So are there any out there that would suit a medium sized organisation (42 schools) that are free? Or is MDT the way forward. The company currently use FOG but this seems very basic to me.
Thank you in advance for any input.
Darren

  • SATA RAID 0 and Drive Imaging Software

I recently bought True Image 8.0 and it hangs during image restore.  The Acronis forums indicate that many people have had problems using True Image with the promise 378 SATA controllers.  I have a few of questions:
    1. Is anyone using True Image successfully in combination with the Promise 378 SATA controllers?  If so, what version?
    2. With the VIA controllers?  If so, what version?
    3. Are there other drive imaging Software (Norton Ghost, Drive Image, etc.) that are known to work with SATA RAID 0 & the  Promise 378 controller?

Ghost 2004 working on VIA SATA here..
...although the mobo is a POS and I'm RMAing it that much DOES work. heh

  • Compatible Image Software:

What is the name of free image software that can create, edit, resize, rotate, and invert images? Anything that is not Adobe?

    Check out these graphics apps.

    ImageJ (freeware) @ http://asia.cnet.com/downloads/mac/swinfo/0,39001908,50002253r-39444742s,00.htm
Don't totally rule out Adobe apps.
You may be able to get a used copy of PhotoDeluxe (version 1 or 2) for less than $10. I bought a used copy of Photoshop Elements version 2.0 for $15. It works in both OS 9 & OS X.

  • Collage Image Software

I just updated to a Windows 7 64 machine and am mourning the loss of some of my 16 bit software.  My favorite image software for collage purposes was Lview.  It was pretty simple but let me do what I wanted starting with a full canvas whiteboard that covered my entire monitor screen.  From there I could paste various digital images into some pretty cool collages over the years.  Does anyone know of any image software that will just give me a big white screen where I can copy and move my images where I want on the screen?  I've downloaded and tried many software programs but none provided just the big white screen I want, to work from.   TIA

    Hi verlando,
There are different ways to create photo collages in different Adobe products. This forum is for Adobe Collage, which is a program for Android tablets to create photo collages. It can indeed open a white canvas add, place, mask and resize different photos on that canvas, however this app like I mentioned is for tablets not for desktop computers. If you are looking for desktop software for this purpose, you might consider a desktop product like Photoshop Elements. That software has the ability to do all kinds of photo editing including creating a photo collage. What you might want to do is download a trial version of that software and see if it suits your needs prior to purchasing it. I found this video which shows the process in Photoshop Elements (the video is for version 9 but workflow is the same for version 10).

  • Basic 3D imaging software

    Hi everyone,
I am looking for a basic, free 3D imaging software.
Nothing fancy, but just the ability to create a simple 3D design for a playhouse/treehouse.
Is there anything available on apple or can anyone recommend an application?
    Thank You!
    Rachel

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Probably the best free 3D imaging software is Google Sketchup. I've tried other programs, but this was the first one I could actually figure out how to use. And there are lots & lots of objects others have created that you can download.
This forum is dedicated to the productivity application, AppleWorks. It is not a "catch-all" for how Apple computers work. There really isn't a forum for general questions such as yours. You might try some of the link's in Tom Gewecke's user tip. Apple used to have a searchable database of third-party software, but unfortunately it is no more. Most of the independent Mac-oriented user forums, such as MacRumors forums, have sticky threads with software recommendations.

  • Best imaging software for thinkpad t400

I am using my product recovery disks to reset my thinkpad t400 to factory settings. To prevent this factory revert in future and to just reinstall the OS with the necessary software I am thinking to purchase an imaging software like Acronis True Image or Symantec Ghost.
I tried checking on the net but getting mixed reviews. so i would like to know from experts here, Which of the two software work best with Thinkpad t400?

I confess to also finding Acronis to be a great cloning and imaging software, I haven't used anything else in years.  Although I have mostly used it for cloning I have never had a problem recovering / upgrading systems from images when the target HDD is inserted in the target system, the so called reverse image / clone.
Here's a couple of links to threads on cloning with Acronis on "older" ThinkPads, (pre T400), which were also used to create forum Knowledgebase articles. (There are also others in the KB).

  • Disc imaging software????

Sorry if this isnt the right place to post but I was wondering if anyone is familiar with disc imaging software. What is it and how does it work? I just bought a game for my Imac and with the disc in the drive it sound like a helicopter about to take flight. Someone said I could use disc imaging software to load the whole disc on my hard drive but that is all I know about the subject. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Quite simply a disk image is what they refer to on Windows as a "virtual drive". It is like you have the CD inserted into the computer, except it reads what the CD would be off the hard drive. So basically, you would open Disk Utility (from the Utilities folder), select the CD from the list of devices on the left hand side, and select "+New Image From Device"+. This will make a disk image which will be in the .dmg format, which you will be able to double click on to mount it on your computer. Once mounted it is exactly like a CD.
    Hope that helps...

  • MS-8348 and imaging software

    Hello,
I bought the MSI Dragonwriter CD-RW drive "MS-8348" a couple of days ago - and since then have run into a lot of problems using imaging software with it.
The problem occurs with all 2 brands of CD-Rs I've tried so far. Norton Ghost 2002 as well as Drive Image 5.0 come up with error messages after the burning process started. Ghost says, quite at the beginning, after writing about 2 percent of the image: Application error 12020 - Error writing to CD-R.
Drive Image fires up error 1805 (after about 60 percent of the work has been done) which according to Powerquest's documentation means "General error writing to image file". On the screen there's another message though: Sync failed.
Experimenting with various settings in the imaging software ranging from no compression to high compression didn't change the situation.
Odd enough, but at least Drive Image writes successfully to CD-RWs. So of course I could work around the bug by burning a CD-RW first, then make a copy of it with Nero or other software and finally burn my CD-R. But this is very time-consuming.
Does anybody have the same or similar experiences when writing images from Ghost or Drive Image directly to CD-Rs? Anybody any idea how to get rid of the errors (apart from bying a CD-RW drive from another manufacturer of course)?
And yes, I've already updated the firmware of the MSI drive from 120D to 140D
    Night Prowler

    MS-8348B
This is not related to hardware in my computer,
    or the OS.
This is a problem with the drive recognizing the media.
Searching through your site I have seen firmware upgrades for other burners that seem to be primarily to
    recognize more types of media.
When will MSI be putting up a firmware upgrade.
Simply allowing the drive to burn at 16x to any
unrecognized media is not acceptable, when the
drive is unable to recognize most types of media.

  • Backup + Imaging Software Recommendations?

So I'm looking for a FREE Backup +
Imaging Software that has the feature of encryption/password
protection as Windows Backup does not have this feature and would like my backups to be secure in case my external HDD gets stolen. All I want
to do is create an Image of my C: drive and have the ability to select folders from
my E: drive that I wish to backup. TrueCrypt is out of the option as how am I suppose to recover my system from a disaster when the external HDD will become encrypted? There's just no way to mount it when trying to restore from a system image.

The Windows Desktop Perfmon and Diagnostic tools forum is to discuss performance monitor (perfmon), resource monitor (resmon), and task manager, focusing on HOW-TO, Errors/Problems, and usage scenarios.
As the question is off topic here, I am moving it to the

  • Photo Imaging software overview - Mac

I am starting out. I have good pictures and I am ready to move to a pro application. Can anyone offer a brief overview or link to a favorite review, debate or discussion about photo development and cataloging software?
Obviously we are here on Adobe LR forums so that is a keen point to compare too. Right now, I like LR, bugginess aside.
I cant use Aperture yet because this Mac has the wrong type of video card to use it, wont even install.
Extensis and Photo Mechanic are two apps I have seen reviewed well but I am not sure if hey are "just" metadata editors and cataloging systems (I think Extensis does image manipulations too), or do any of then actually stand up as alternatives to LR and Aperture? iView is just cataloging I am fairly certain.
THanks if anyone has some ideas, even a general one about features, pitfalls ... Like I said, I am new to the business of photography.
The good news is that which ever system I choose now, wont have lots of old bad habits to shake off first.

  • Using Ciscoworks for deploying new image software.

Is it possible to upgrade the software images on ACE 20 modules and/or ACE 4710 Appliances? If so, can somebody point me to directions for doing so.  Thanks.

Welcome to the APple user dioscussion forums
I'm a new mac user and just finished moving all my pictures over using Finder. I then imported them to the iphoto library. I understand how iphoto works in general but i have a few questions.
    1) is it worth keeping the original picture files around (organized in a very PC way) on my HD after importing to iphoto, or is this totally redundant
Assuming that you have left the default preference setting to copy items to the iPhoto Library checked (also the highly recommended setting) there is no reason to keep the originals once they are imported to the iPhoto library -- BUT it is always important to BACK UP
    2) I have third party software for working with RAW, will i be able to export the RAW photo, make the changes and then re-import, does this make sense?
you can set the third party software as the external editor of iPhoto - edit the photos and save (not save as) to return the resulting edited JPEG to iPhoto to be saved as the modified version
    3) Is the best way to back up my pictures by keeping a copy of the iphoto library on an external hard drive or does TM do a good job
Personal choice - TM does a good job - I personally prefer having a bootable clone of my entire system updated daily on an external drive ready to go - other prefer TM
I will add TM later but to protect from my errors - I see the cline as being better protection from hardware failures

    Tanks in advance

There is no way how copy the OS from the PIX to a tftp server
You can only copy from tftp to flash (copy tftp flash)
Its security (licencing) feature not to allow the OS to be copied from PIX
You can only copy current configuration with command wri net

  • Best imaging software?

FOG is actually one of the best I have used.  It is very easy to setup and maintain and does so much more than most use it for.  One of the big kicks for me is that it is capable of imaging multiple OS's and is not limited to doing Windows only.  Clonezilla is pretty easy to setup and use as well but FOG has more capabilities.

Acronis is good, but I have mixed feelings about it.  I absolutely LOVE True Image, which is designed and intended for single-PC use.  Snap Deploy, Acronis' multi-PC product, is good when it works properly.  Unfortunately, I have to fight it quite a bit when pushing an image to more than about 10 PCs at a time.  If I'm pushing to any more than 10 at a time, there are all kinds of things that cause it to fail.  It has a service that runs on the server that seems to be fickle, it crashes a lot on big pushes.
Symantec Ghost used to be a good product, but they've stopped developing it and it doesn't work with UEFI.
