IMAP and SMTP forwarding?

Hello,
We have IMAP set up with Unity Connection 7 and I am wondering if there is a way to get a copy of the voicemail wav file to forward to our mobile devices?
Any thoughts?
Please let me know.
Thank you.

Vicky,
I just wanted to chime in briefly as Bill and I have worked together for years now...so I'm glad you found that blog useful.  In your case, just make sure that the SMTP Smart Host is configured properly.  By that I mean the following:
If you are forwarding to a corporate email address then the relay host (i.e., Smart Host) is likely one of the corporate email servers so forwarding to the corporate domain is usually not an issue.  However, if the address you are forwarding to is say an internet address (e.g., [email protected]) then the Smart Host needs to be able to forward out to an internet-based (or external) domain.
This may very well already be obvious to you (which is good); however, experience has shown us that's not always the case.  Anyway, just a quick little FYI.
Rob - thanks for referencing our blogs as usual.  Plus 5 to you, brother.  Bill and I both appreciate your support of our participation in the forums.

I have 11 e-mail accounts that was working fine a minute ago, but now they all say that they can't connect to the IMAP and SMTP servers.
They all work fine on my iphone.
    How should i troubleshoot this?
    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind, restarted for the third or fourth time, and now it works...
    Perhaps it was a time-issue.

  • Ovi Mail IMAP and SMTP servers constantly down

I'm reading my ovi.com emails with a Lumia smartphone and with Outlook. I constantly fail to connect to the IMAP and SMTP server and thereby do not get or cannot send emails. Webmail works fine, but especially sending emails from Outlook or from Lumia is currently impossible. Mails just get stuck to the outbox folder and both Outlook and phone keep asking for the password, as if my password was wrong.
This has happened randomly after the Yahoo transfer, but now it is happening on daily basis. I haven't been able to send emails from my Lumia in a week. The settings both in Outlook and in Lumia are correct, have checked several times. Usually when I leave my phone alone for a night, in the morning it has synced the inbox, but not the Outbox.
    Anyone have similar problems?

Ok.. if you guys have a final configuration please share...
I spent all morning and this after over 30min chat with nokia care support... final answer? they told me to contact Yahoo!
In the meantime, I also contacted nokia through tweeter and they were like: .. but nokiamail has been deactivated! I found it strange because my last income email on my cel was on Aug13... and I can still access nokiamail through webpage (www.nokiamail.com) so it´s not dead.

  • How to enable logging of IMAP and SMTP connections in Mail

I have set up my own mail server and am able to send and receive mail. However, I would like to enable SSL security for connections from the client application to the mail server. I have created certificate authority, created a root certificate, and created an SSL certificate and key for the server. However, every time I connect, I get a warning message that the certificate is not valid - but the host names and domain names are correct in the certificate and match in the error message. It appears that there is some other problem with the certificate that is not reported in the dialog.
I would like to turn on logging in Mail.app to try to find out what is happening as the connection is made and TLS is enabled to find out why the certificate is being rejected. What options exist for logging SMTP and IMAP connections in mail? How can I find the logging options - should I look for strings in the binary or a resource file?

You cannot log only those changes but you can log *all* changes.
The messages 111008 and 111010 are the ones to look for (as described in this post).

  • Imap and smtp, squrrelmail strange things

last night i had a problem with one of the drives failing on my xserve and causing our raid 1 to degrade. i did a rebuit and after 30 - 40 mins it was done.
this morning i noticed two things: there was an error 22 on the squirrelmail when people tried to login and some cannot connect to imap message. i went in the conf.pl file and changed my imap settings from mail.mydomain.com to localhost. users were then able to login but not being able to send mail until i changed the smtp settings in the squirrelmail conf.pl file from mail.mydomain.com to localhost.
i have not done any changes form last night but stopping all services and turning them back on after rebuild was done.
on top of that computer using both retrospect and other backup software stopped emailing logs last night, which i found even stranger as retrospect uses smtp authentication, the other machine does not but is's ip is added to the allow list.
i am still trying to figure out what is going on. i was successfully able to send telnet and send mail from the machines mentioned and all other clients have no problem sending mail. i am not sure where else to look for the problem.
any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    thanks

    PowerBook G4 - 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    jeff,
originally i though is mail problem but thanks for pointing me in the dns direction. here is my setup.
i have xserve running mail, web, dns, open directory master windows PDC 192.168.0.4 . i have a second xserve running web, replica and windows backup domain controller and backup dns on 192.168.0.9
i have only made it recently (2 months ago) backup dns and some of the static ip machines still have on old secondary dns ip 192.168.0.2
so my retrospect backup server had 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.0.2 but in the retrospect event handler had mail.mydomain.com for smtp server. i just changed that to the ip of the mail server 192.168.0.4 and ran retrospect and got the email which means that i DO have dns issues. i have not changed anything on my dns settings so it really bugs me out (at least i do not remember changing anything
i think i am gonna turn the dns services off on the backup dns xserve and see if i will get the same results.
the command you ask me to enter did gave this output
    192.168.0.4
    192.168.0.2
i will change the secondary dns to the new secondary dns ip but that should not matter, should it?
my other server is sgi irix and did gibe same output. is the resolv.conf file the one i want to edit if i want to change my dns server settings of the client?
my dns server (xserve) also had the two old ips 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.0.2 but i changed that last to 192.168.0.9. do you think that would have mattered? it has been like this all along ...
should i be loking on the dns server config to see if anything strange?
    thanks for your help.

  • IMAPS and SMTPS proxy server

    Hi,
I come from Germany. We use Lotus Domino in our enterprise. After evaluating Lotus Ultralite we would like to use a imaps/smtps proxy server for email access.
Normaly we would use a Cisco ASA, but there seems to be a problem/incompatility with the iPhone Mail client.
The mail account can be set up on the iPhone and is succesfully verified. But when I try to access my mails I only get an "server not found". The debug log on the ASA shows that the imap server reports an error and quits. I can access my mails with other mail clients like Apple Mail on 10.5.
So I am looking for an alternative. Which proxy server (soft- or hardware) can you recommend?

    Hello
I am making HTTPS calls from within my applet code and this works fine using the basic Java Plug-in support for HTTPS.
This means my code basically does:
    URL url = new URL("https://myhost.com/servlet/Test");
    URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
    etc..
We are using Java 1.4.2. I've read in the "How HTTPS Works in Java Plug-in" for 1.3, that the plugin uses the browsers API for making HTTPS connections. Is this still the case for 1.4?
My basic problem is that it all works fine if the browser is NOT configured to use a proxy server. If a proxy server is configured we get the following Exception in the client:
java.io.IOException: Unable to tunnel through proxy. Proxy returns "HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request ( The data is invalid. )"
I have read that "Sun's Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE) library allows you to access a secure Web server from behind a firewall via proxy tunnelling. However, JSSE expects the proxy's reply to the tunnelling request to begin with "HTTP 1.0"; otherwise, it throws an IOException" (http://www.javaworld.com/javatips/jw-javatip111_p.html)
The article talks about using the JSSE library but it seems to be assuming the client is an application not an applet.
How do I use JSSE from within an applet if all the proxy information I seem to need to set in the JSSE code is held by the browser?
Will JSSE support proxies returning responses beginning HTTP 1.1 in the future?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    mark

  • Sending email using IMAP through SMTP Port 587

    Hi,
I have been sending Mail Merged email to people in organizations that I am active in, using IMAP embedded in StarOffice 5.2 (on Windows 98 Second Edition). This worked fine until a few weeks ago when I received an error message stating that AOL, as part of their anti-spam efforts, was no longer accepting third-party emails on default port 25. All third-party email must now use port 587. I looked in the IMAP dialog and in the Tools -> Options dialog, but did not see any place to change the SMTP port. The AOL error message information page had instructions for changing the port in other applications (Outlook, Eudora, etc.), but not for StarOffice. So, I have some questions:
1.Is it possible to change the port in StarOffice 5.2?
2.If not, how does StarOffice 8 send Mail Merged email? Does it use IMAP, and if so, can the port be changed?
3.Also, I like the integrated configuration in StarOffice 5.2, where database fields can be directly accessed in the Insert -> Fields -> Other dialog. In looking at the Mail Merge section in "SO8_What's New.pdf", it appears that Mail Merge in StarOffice 8 is restricted to predefined fields. Could I still access fields from my existing databases?
These is a lot of questions, but right now I am blocked from sending Mail Merged emails which is imparing communications with volunteers who are running educational programs. I appreciate any and all help that anyone can provide.

    Please try this out!!!!!!!!!
You can send emails using Outlook also. You can send email over Microsoft Exchange with this object (or another email server, using IMAP/POP).
    Sub SendMailOutlook(aTo, Subject, TextBody, aFrom)
    'Create an Outlook object
    Dim Outlook 'As New Outlook.Application
    Set Outlook = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
    'Create e new message
    Dim Message 'As Outlook.MailItem
    Set Message = Outlook.CreateItem(olMailItem)
    With Message
'You can display the message To debug And see state
    '.Display
    .Subject = Subject
    .Body = TextBody
    'Set destination email address
    .Recipients.Add (aTo)
    'Set sender address If specified.
    Const olOriginator = 0
    If Len(aFrom) > 0 Then .Recipients.Add(aFrom).Type = olOriginator
    'Send the message
    .Send
    End With
    End Sub

    Thanks -

The collum to the right listed similar problems.  The solution appears to be that under smtp outgoing settings the user name and password are listed as optional.  I have not plugged in the information and it seems to be working.  However from my office it always allowed the relaying.  The true test will be when I try to respond later from the road.

  • Local domain, IIS Hosting and SMTP issues.

I have a local domain on Windows server 2012 with dns, dhcp, iis and smtp. (Yes, I am aware of the dangers of these combinations) it is for learning purposes only and not my main pc.
My local domain is willow.run and I am hosting a website, the domain for that is machinerylubricant.com I have IIS 8 installed (6.0 also for smtp)
My original issue was getting IIS to send an email to localhost through a php script for a contact form hosted on the website. I finally got to where it appears to be sending the contact form info to my drop folder but I ahve no idea how to get that .EML
file to actually forward to gmail account or even outlook on my computer/server.
In the email file (.eml in drop folder) it says "To: *******@gmail.com" as it is supposed to but that email is not making it to the specified gmail account. Also no error messages in the ph logs or the log files for smtp. How would I go about setting
up a email program to work on the lan with the acual www domain name I own?
I am learning everything at once basically, windows server, coding, protocols etc. Please bare with me.

Rather than answer your specific question, how about I give you the best way to achieve what you're looking for?
For inbound messages, you want to use the "aliasdetourhost" keyword. Check the documentation for how this is set up.
For outbound messages, you want to use the "alternate conversion channel"
When used together, this will achieve what you're looking for, without the looping that you have generated....
The alternate conversion channel was written up here:

  • Best way to set up pop and smtp server?

    Hey there,
i am digging arch ! i am using arch to host both a home network, and a couple of websites for friends. But here is what i want to do. i would like to host an email server also. so my website name can be my email address also , you know, [email protected]
what is the easiest solution to set up an email server ? i have read some stuff on exim, and the arch wiki for courrier, but it looks a bit intimidating.. i remember from me ol debian days, that debian uses exim by default, but i never used it.
where is the best place to get started, i dont need a lot of features, just something that works and can be configured for maybe a half dozen users.
    any suggestions ?
    thanks

IMAP and SMTP are different things.
SMTP is simple mail transfer protocol - it's just a protocol to transport email from host to host
IMAP is internet message access protocol - it's a protocol to retrieve your email, one in which the messages are stored on the remote server (unlike POP where all the messages are downloaded locally)
IMAP is nice because it allows for access to your mail from any client (and can be used for web based email rather than something like Thunderbird or Sylpheed)
Hula has both (along with POP)...
