IMAP AOL not showing sent mail

When I set up a friend's AOL email account using mac mail, the folders appear, including "sent items", but sent items never appear.
It there something I must do from AOL?
thank you
alan

Hello Alan.
If your friend wants to store messages sent with the Mail.app on the server for the AOL account, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Mailbox Behaviors tab for the account preferences, is "Store sent messages on the server" selected?
If so, open the AOL account icon in the mailboxes drawer to reveal the Sent Items mailbox. Select the Sent Items mailbox and at the menu bar, go to Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For and select Sent.

  • ICloud not showing sent mail from my iMac

Hi all, if I go to iCloud mail and send an email the recipient receives it. However it doesn't show up in my iCloud sent mail. There is sent mail present but that looks to be just emails sent from my BB or iPad. While researching this issue I found this : https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3390316 So I went to Mail and yes that "store sent mail on server" was not checked. I then checked it as implied in the above link, but the sent emails still do not show up. Could anyone advise please? TIA, Terry.

I am currently running Mail.app on ML.
My Mail.app and iCloud webmail settings were already congruent with those recommended regarding saving a copy of the Sent emails [Store sent mail upon the iCloud server].
Despite this being the case, I have found that Sent messages were not been getting saved reliably in Mail.app or upon the iCloud webmail interface.
Some did get saved though - rather odd.
I don't want to call my reported email problem as fixed but it seems hardly coincidental to me that once I had chosen to unflag Store deleted messages [Trash section] upon the iCloud mail server that such messages as were sent form my two iCloud addresses messages began to be saved reliably.
Surely this is indicative of some underlying misconfiguration with the iCloud server itself as Trash messages clearly aren't Sent messages and yet messages only began to be reliably saved once I had chosen to unflag Store deleted messages. As previously stated, I already had my mailbox behaviours set to Store Sent messages upon the iCloud server, but this proved to be of no avail until I chose to unflag Store deleted messages.
See attached picture for Mailbox Behaviours.

  • Yosemite 10.10.1 upgrade does not show "sent" mail in the sent box

Since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1, sent messages do not appear in my sent box. In order to have a record of my sent messages I have been blind-copying them to myself; very cumbersome. Any suggestions?

Have you tried selecting the Sent mailbox and rebuilding it via the Mailbox ➙ Rebuild menu option?

  • TS3276 Sent emails not showing in mail?

Hi All. My sent items are not showing in my sent folder after i have sent an email. They are 100% being sent and received but just not showing on mail on my mac. They are showing on my iphone though.

  • How can I pick and choose what IMAP folders are show in Mail?...

I am using IMAP and it works fine. Except "Sent" messages are saving on the server to "Send Messages" however I cannot see it on the list of IMAP folders in Mail. I see other folders, Save, etc. ones I created, just can't make the folder on the server show up in Mail.
If I go into the "Account Info" window in Mail, it does not show it either. Even though it is on the server and Mail is saving sent messages to it as it should.
Any ideas? How can I pick and choose what IMAP folders are show in Mail?
    Thanks
    Frank

Yes it is using the sent mailbox but just does not show it. MS Mail on Vista has a "show/hide" IMAP folder screen, I wish Mac Mail has this..would be perfect.
I was thinking about deleting the account, and adding it, that would reset it I am sure. However I have my mail set to keep a copy locally for off-line viewing (option in preferences under Account) and I get the sense that if I delete the IMAP account and add it, it will download a copy of each piece of mail (for example my inbox) again and I will have two of everything. Does this make sense? Do you think this will happen?

  • 1 of my 4 pop accounts is not saving sent mail to sent mail folder all the other are

When I send an email 3/4 of the accounts save the sent email to the sent email folder. 1 account sends the email out but does not save it??? I have updated to the latest version, I have checked that the location where it saves email is the same setting as all other accounts. Please help

I have 3 pop3 accounts and 1 imap. 1 of the pop accounts is not showing the sent email in the unified sent email folder. The one which is not showing sent email has the same outgoing mail server as one of the other accounts which is showing so i dont think it has anything to do with the email provider

  • Email sent not in sent mail.

Email sent not in sent mail, where I find them?

OK I have just finished fiddling about with this now.
If you 'reply' to an email in your Inbox it will appear in your '@ emailaddress' selection at the bottom of your scroll down menu from 'Inbox'.  So from your 'Inbox' navigate up to highlight 'Inbox'  a drop down menu appears and at the bottom of mine is '@myemailaddress' when I select this it takes me to an identical inbox where I can select Sent emails and there they all are.  All other emails I send that are not 'replies' to emails in my Inbox are there in 'Sent'.
I think this has something to do with:
    Email
    Settings
    Mailbox settings
Reply to address:  this should be your email address, the same as the Inbox address.  It then appears at the bottom of the drop down menu from Inbox.
    Hope that helps.

  • Why are MobileMe Sent messages not showing in Mail?

On one Intel iMac, messages sent do not show up on the other Intel iMac, both running Snow Leopard 10.6.7.  This just started happening recently.  Also, although there are a few thousand messages in the Sent Mailbox in MobileMe,, only 300+ appear in the Sent Mailbox on that first iMac.  Rebuilding the mailbox has no effect.  Any ideas?

What type of email accounts are they? IMAP or POP.
IMAP leaves messages on the server so you can get them from everywhere.
With POP, messages are downloaded to your client and then removed from the server, depending on your settings.
The iDevice setup for POP doesn't remove them from the server.
I think Mail's default setup for POP is to remove immediately.
If they are POP accounts, you can set Mail's preferences to leave messages on the server for a period of time so that you can retrieve them on multiple clients.

  • Email sent from Nexus 4 not showing in Mail client

Going from an iPhone to an Android device has it's own issues, but one that shouldn't be an issue is that of IMAP emails.
In replying to any email from the Nexus 4, it will not be available to view in Apple's Mail client, which I use for all 5 of my email accounts.  It will show in Mail that the email has been replied to with the arrow on the left of the email, but it will not allow me to click on the arrow to see the email I sent.  It gives me an error message, 'Mail was unable to find your reply to the message "email subject title". You may have deleted the message'.  Nope, I didn't delete the message, but now I can't see it.  This is a very crucial missing element for business reply emails.  My compnay uses GMail servers for all it's mail, so it's not a me.com email issue specifically.  Funny enough, that email account set up the easiest.  It doesn't show messages sent from the Nexus 4 either, but I'm sure it's all part of the same problem.
Is anyone else having this same/similar issue?
    Thanks for the help, Bruce.

For Exchange GMail there is a way to set your iOS device to use a different "Send As" name than when using a computer.  Unfortunately in your case, you can set your computer to send an alternate name but the iOS device can only send the default GMail name, which is the name associated with your account.  Ideally, you would like your iOS device to use the alternate and let your computer use the default.
But if you want to play around with this ...
1- On the iOS device itself, use Safari to navigate to m.google.com/sync.  You will have to log in at the prompt with your GMail account info.
2- Select the iOS device name (in case you have multiple iOS devices using Google sync).
3- Select "Enable 'Send Mail As' for this device" and Save the changes.
4- Using a computer, log into your GMail account and select Settings/ Accounts and Import, then at the "Send mail as" prompt select "edit info" (off to the right).
    5- Change your outgoing name.
The name you specify in #5 will be used by your computer, but the iOS device will continue using the original (default) outgoing name.  You can see why you need the opposite in your case, so unless you can change the default to be your wife's name and then set the alternate to be your name, I think you're out of luck.

  • Im having problem in Mail. Sent is showing incorrect date and also not showing sent emails that have been successfully sent. Is it a virus?

Having trouble in MAIL. Running MacOSX(10.6.8) and in MAIL the SENT both doesnt show sent messages( successfully received) and doesnt show correct date sent. Any ideas??

Not sure about the time stamp problem, but the missing "Sent" mails problem is not uncommon. This problem is one that a lot of people have and in my opinion, I think it's a problem with Apple's mail application, nothing at the user's end.
Does this happen only when you include an attachment or does that matter? Also, does it only happen when your outgoing message is delayed a bit? Check your junk/spam folder to see if your sent messages went in there.
This doesn't fix anything, but you might change your e-mail settings so that all new mails are automatically sent Bcc to yourself.
Sometimes the "missing" sent mails are not going in the right folder. I'm sure you probably already know, but in the left-hand column in MAIL, under Mailboxes, there is a second "sent" folder way at the bottom, depending on your other e-mail accounts, such as Yahoo or Gmail). Many people have discovered their missing "sent" e-mails in those.
It is a big hassle, for sure, and has been officially reported. Users with complaints are being told that Apple's Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) systems block the connection from a user's e-mail client when it attempts to store outgoing e-mails, which contain attachments, to the users'  sent folder.
This is supposedly due to the Mac OS/Mac Mail sending non-standard or erroneous commands to the server, emulating the activity which would be generated by an attacker attempting to abuse an exploit in the IMAP server. I doubt you are doing anything wrong, so it's just a matter of waiting for them to FIX this annoying issue.

  • IMAP will not show newest e-mail.

When I check Mail with IMAP the iPhone downloads all messages but doesn't seem to display the newest first! ???
I am helping two users set up their iPhones and they both check mail from the same server just different accounts.
IMAP -- When I set them up to check via IMAP they can't see the newest messages on their phones. They each have about 500 e-mails in their inbox but all they really need to see are the most recent ones.
POP -- When I connect them via POP they can't open attachments or it takes a TREMENDOUS amount of time. I keep getting =_NextPart and some numbers in the place of my mail or attachment.

Well that narrows it down now that I know it's not the iPhone necessarily but the order in which my IMAP server pushes the e-mails.
When the iPhone (or any other client) requests mail, the server seems to send random e-mails to the client until the request is fully completed. I've noticed that the iPhone will get mail in splurges. 150 here 6 there another 50. etc. I have to hit update serveral times to get it to see all of the mail, even then it sorts really strangely. It's like it receives messages -> parses 25 of them at a time -> sorts and displays those 25. So even though in the background it's "seeing" that there's more e-mail on the server it will only sort the first 25 it received.
The workaround so far has been to use POP e-mail which is frustrating as well.
When I use POP I'm having trouble with the phone taking crazy amounts of time to render an e-mail or attachment. (particularly those with excel attachments). On the SAME EXACT e-mail sometimes it will pop right up, other times it will take hours. I can't be sure if it's still downloading the message/attachment either because normally when you touch a large attachment it will show you the progress as it's being downloaded. This issue happens after that point with the little swirly showing you the item is being loaded.
The really strange part is the e-mails and messages this happens to don't correlate in size at all. Last one liner message with a 15k excel attachment took 5 hours to open. (all in the same try.) Later I used the same e-mail as a benchmark and tried opening it over and over. Sometimes it would open right away, sometimes it would take 10 minutes or more (didn't want to wait hours though).
The bottom line is this is happening too often. If it was once in awhile it wouldn't be worth complaining about, but this coupled with IMAP handling issues are starting to pick at me.
Would it be worth my while to have all e-mail forwarded to another account that the iPhone could check exclusively. Say a .mac account? Do these phones come with .mac accounts?
I'm starting to run out of ideas.

  • Mail - IMAP folders not showing up in folder list

I have several mac mail imap folders and a few of them are not showing all imap folder - yet I can use move to folder to move emails to that folder.  Any ideas?

It should be in the IMAP/Mail forwarding section.
When it is enabled, folders do not show up in mac mail

  • Sent emails do not show in Mail

Please - I have posted this question before, but it really annoys me - is it possible that it's only me with this problem?
When I send emails with attachments, jpg-files filed in my iPhoto, the emails just do not show up in my Sent mailbox. It reaches the recipient, however, so I have to send a copy to myself.
    Anyone, please HELP!!
PS. I have checked every possible setting both with my email supplier- Virginmedia.com (google) - and with Mail and iPhoto.

  • TS4002 not showing when mail is sent

I have two question.  The first is why is it that when I sent mail or forward, or reply, I have no record of this in my sent box.  This is very frustrating because, I have no way of knowing if someone received my emails, nor do I have any record for myself.  I just switched from mobile me, and I really miss the convience of this and not logging in and seeing my icon at bottom of screen.  Also when I go to icloud, I can't sync my keynote, pages and other programs that are already on my desktop with the icloud documents, they want me to purchase apts???????

    Message window
In Tiger, the message window does dissappear when you click Send. That is normal behavior on my system, anyway.
Indication of Message sending and sent
After you click Send, the word "Sent" beside the paper airplane icon in Mail's side bar changes to "Sending..." and an indicator dial (radial array of lines which blink on and off in sequence to simulate rotation) spins beside the word "Sending" until the message is sent. At the end of sending, the word Sending changes to Sent and the confirm Alert sounds. Default Alert sound is that jet airplane swish which travels as stereo demonstration from left speaker to right. Your message is added to the list in your Sent mailbox.
Message sent Alert sound not heard
I don't know why you don't hear the sound Here are more things to check: There are several places to change sound settings, as you noted. One you may have missed is the keyboard sound controls. You don't list your system, but on a laptop, press F3 to toggle mute, F4 to decrease volume, F5 to increase. Desktop Apple keyboards have dedicated keys for sound - the keys with speaker graphics on them. You may have inadvertently muted sound or turned it low with your keyboard. Toggleing Mute with the keyboard would check/uncheck the Output Mute Checkbox system preference sound panes. Keystroke changes to sound volume also update in system prefs. So you may have some other issue.
    Good luck, hope this helps.
