IMAP Read status - 1.3.5

On 1.3.1 and prior versions of the webOS I was used to the READ status of the IMAP messages coming into the pre almost immediately. Now it seems they stay up until another message comes in.
Let me give you an example:
You have your pre on the Touchstone, so you can see your alerts, new mails, etc. I used to be able to rely on that screen to see new email as they came in. When I read the message on my desktop, within seconds the message notification would remove itself from the Pre as it was marked READ on the IMAP server. Now the message notification appear to stay live until another message pushes them away.
It appears the IMAP IDLE functionality has changed. Has anyone else noticed this?

There was really only one thing I was hoping that 1.4.0 would fix and it was this incredibly annoying bug that was introduced with 1.3.5. It is still present in 1.4.0! Now with LED notifications finally officially supported (which I'm really very thankful for btw) this issue has become more irritating than ever, the phone will continue blinking for emails that have long been read elsewhere.
When can we finally expect a fix for this?

  • Mail does not correctly reflect read status of Gmail IMAP messages

Apple Mail is no longer correctly reflecting the read status of emails that have been read on other devices/computers when viewing my Gmail IMAP inbox. Whereas my iPhone and Gmail account both show changes in items' read status immediately or on next mail retrieval, in Apple Mail the only way I have currently of updating the read status is to quit Mail and restart it. Neither automatic fetching of Mail, nor clicking "Get Mail", nor right-clicking the Inbox and choosing "Synchronize Gmail" work.
My other IMAP account (MobileMe) does not exhibit this behaviour, but Mail.app does this with Gmail on both of my desktop computers.
Anyone out there with a similar problem? And are there any possible solutions, or is it a bug/incompatibility with GMail?

This problem is still occurring for me in 10.5.5 - I even tested it by creating a new gmail account with only 1 message in it, in case it was a problem with large mailboxes, and the same thing happened.
Mail messages marked read elsewhere are not updated in Mail on the next send/receive. I wonder if everyone with this problem could report the bug at http://www.apple.com/support/feedback and see if we can get this solved in 10.5.6

  • Mails trun automatically to read status

    Dear All ,
We are facing one problem in our mail sender adapter. sometimes the mails in inbox  turn as read from unread status automatically.   We don't know what is the exact resaon. We are using IMAP protocol. Please Help us
    Regards
    Xi User

This could happen when there is some problem in reading those mails. At that moment, for imap cases, the mail is changed to Read status but is not processed. Could you see any error at that time in Communication channel monitoring. Also have a look at SAP Note 1241039.

  • Apple Mail read status does not update correctly

I have one iMac running Mavericks and using Apple Mail to run three IMAP accounts provided by a local Apple Mountain Lion Server.
    It exhibits two issues:
Firstly it fails to refresh the view automatically in the message viewer window.
The header at the very top of the window will update live when a new message comes in so that it says "X Messages (Y Unread)" with the correct numbers. The list of messages does not update unless you switch mailboxes, then switch back again. Then they appear instantly.
The second and more critical issue is that the read and unread status of messages is not updating correctly at all. Refreshing the view make no difference. Two of the three accounts are shared with 6 other iMacs running Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard. None of these have an issue.
I have deleted and re-added the accounts several times, I have tried a completely clean new user account. Sometimes the first issue goes away but it returns after a short time.
The next step would be to erase the whole Mac but I am reluctant to go to the hassle as I have a suspicion that this will not make a difference and that there is a glitch with Mail on Mavericks. I have run all updates.

    Hi Brenn,
To narrow down the issue, we need more investigation:
1.Does the issue occurs only in Category view? Please check if user 1 set the view to Date and email read status update.
2.Does the issue occurs to user1's own mailbox with the same setting as shared mailbox?
3.If the shared mailbox is in cached mode, please check Account Settings > Change > More Settings... > Adwanced > Use Cached Exchange mode > check Download shared folders.
4.Please switch to online mode for shared mailbox and test the issue.

  • How do you apply rules based on read status?

I migrated to Mail.app from PowerMail, and one of the powerful options available when creating a filter/rule in PowerMail was the ability to check the status of the message (message is/is not read) before applying the rest of the rule.
Is there a way to apply this same check within a rule in Mail.app?
This option is used to create rules that file mail ONLY AFTER it has been read.
Obviously, the user must apply the rule manually since rules are only fired off when mail comes in, or when one highlights one or more message(s) and then selects the "Apply Rules" option from the contextual menu or from the Message menu.
What makes this so powerful is that rather than having to manually file every message after you read it you can create rules that check status for read, if it is check to see if it matches other criteria, and if it does, put it in a folder with other like messages.
Like many people, I have a large number of folders and subfolders into which I file my messages. By creating such a rule, I only have to file a message that matches other criteria once, use that to set up the criteria for the rule, and on subsequent messages that match that criteria, I only have to apply the rule after I have read it.
I could just file all the messages directly into their appropriate folders, but then I have to keep watch on the subfolders for new mail, rather than just watching the inbox, reading the new mail, then using the Apply Rules item to have the read message checked and then filed based on the criteria that it matches.
The logic might look like this.
    Is Read status true
    AND
    The subject contains "Intranet"
    THEN
    Move message to /On My Mac/Work Mail/Current Projects/Intranet Project/ mail folder
    THEN
    Stop processing rules.
Without the ability to test the message's "read status" I have to select the message, right click to select "Move To>" from the contextual menu, then mouse through four sub panes to put the read message in the folder where I want to store it.
I also cannot select a number of read messages and use the Apply Rules option to allow my filing rules to move any number of read messages to their proper storage folders.
If anyone has a method for doing this, please let me know. It is the one thing I miss most about PowerMail.

I have been doing some of this, and while it does provide some of the functionality that is lost without the ability to apply rules only to read messages, it is not a complete solution. One of the biggest drawbacks is that it is not easy to selectively limit what new mail shows up the smart mailbox. One approach that works, sort of, is to limit the smart mailbox to only messages from people in my address book. However, not all relevant messages are from people already in my mailbox, so it requires constantly double checking to make sure that things are slipping through the cracks.
The best thing about being able to apply rules, after receiving them, based on the status of a message is that it puts the control in the users hands. It allows you to selectively apply rules, only when you want to apply them. Rather than always/never, you have the ability to apply rules "sometimes/as needed." It allows for fuzzy logic, rather than hard conditions.

  • "Read" status of e-mail will not sync wirelessly between Lotus Notes and 8520??

    HI,
This is my first post and I realize that this might not be the right area to post this question but my question did not seem to fit anywhere else.
I was recently issued a BB 8520 at my new company and we work in a Lotus Notes environment and I believe it is version 7.
This is not happening to anyone else that I know of in our company but when I read an e-mail in Lotus Notes from my desktop, wireless sync will not mark it read on my Blackberry. Also when I read an e-mail on my BB, it will not mark it read in Lotus Notes. However if I delete an e-mail in Lotus Notes, it will delete it from my BB via wireless sync. Finally, when my BB is attached to my desktop via USB, and I do a manual sync from Blackberry Desktop Manager, it will sync the "read" status of my e-mails between Lotus Notes and my BB.
So I guess my question is why are most sync functions working via wireless sync between my e-mail in Lotus Notes and my BB, but not the "read" status of an e-mail? And I know that it works for other users in our company so it's really bothering as it is a whipping to have check e-mails that are still marked as unread (in both Lotus Notes and my BB) when I have already read them.
Thank you and I would really appreciate any help or information that I could provide to our IT Admin at work to help him solve my problem.
    Thank you,
    Matt

  • Read Status does not apply correctly when working out of a shared mailbox.

since updating to the Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4, users have been experiencing the same issues when working out of shared mailboxes. when user 1 opens an email or manually marks the email as read the status does not change from their perspective, the email remains
unread. however, the other users viewing the shared mailbox immediately see the status change to read. User 1 has to re-sort his email from catagory to received or from ect. As soon as the emails are resorted the status changes. alternatively, if User 1 views
another folder and returns back. the email is marked as read.
This problem happens with Outlook 2007 and 2010
This happens after re-creating the profile
opening outlook with the switches /cleanprofile /cleanviews seems to solve the problem for an hour or so.
I have run mailbox repairs on the server for the mailboxes in question.
changing the behaviour in tools>options>reading pane> has no effect.

  • Using global variable read status

    Hi Experts,
I need to change the Note based o the Service Ticket status. I declared global variable as a string in ZL_ICCMP_BT_BTSHEADER_IMPL (Component: ICCMP_BTSHEAD; View: BTSHeader)
And I am passing the Status to this global variable using the GET and SET methods of the STRUCT.ACT_STATUS attribute in BTSTATUSH node in same component and view.
I referred this global variable in DO_PREPARE_OUTPUT of the component ICCMP_BTTEXT/TextView to set the Note as shown below.
    if ZL_ICCMP_BT_BTSHEADER_IMPL=>GC_STATUS = 'E0001'.
I would like to know whether this approach is the best way to read status or any other optimistic  approach is there to follow for my this scenario. Please advise me.
    Thanks
    Chand

    Hi Basha,
If you are using static variables, i wouldn't recommend using this approach.. there are better approach to get/set values in web client session which avoids setting/clearing static variables etc..
    you can follow below approach..
    1. To Get/set the variable in ic session to avoid the static variable.. for eg global cuco is available which you can use for this purpose.
    lr_bdc type ref to if_crm_ui_data_context.
    lr_bdc = cl_crm_ui_data_context_srv=>get_instance( me ).
    check lr_bdc is bound.
Using SET_DATA_ATTRIBUTE set the attribute value and using GET_DATA_ATTRIBUTE get the attribute valueu2026get_attribute, set_attribute
    read current BuAg if exist
    lr_buag ?= lr_bdc->GET_DATA_ATTRIBUTE( 'CURRENTBUAG' ).
Here "CURRENTBUAG" is the attribute name, you can give any attribute name while setting and get the same attribute value via get_data_attribute.
    Cheers,

  • How does the "Read Status Byte" work in the VISA test panel?

I'm currently trying to replace an HP-85 with a modern computer running VB.NET, which will communicate with an HP 3421A. Unfortunately the 3421A was created before SCPI was created, so I believe the commands I am able to send are dictated by what the 3421A lists in the manual (http://exodus.poly.edu/~kurt/manuals/manuals/HP%20Agilent/HP%203421A%20Operation,%20Programming%20%20&%20Configuration.pdf).
The commands I'm trying to use to troubleshoot are "DCV", which reads a voltage, and "SR", which returns 24 different registers, with register 1 being the status byte. When I write "DCV" and then read, it returns a correct voltage. When I write "DCV" and click "Read Status Byte" in the VISA panel, it lets me know that data is available to be read and when I read it returns a correct voltage. When I write "DCV", then "SR" and then read, it returns 24 different bytes, with the first byte being the status register, but it doesn't recognize the "DCV" command from before and the status byte is now 0, which leads me to believe that it's overwriting the "DCV" command from before.
How can I mimic the functionality of the "Read Status Byte" button in the VISA panel? How does this work on instruments created before SCPI was implemented? Sending "*STB?\n" doesn't work. I am new to instrumentation so if I left out some necessary information please let me know.

Thank you for the suggestion. I found a solution by adding NationalInstruments.NI4882.dll and using the SerialPoll function.

  • IMAP Keeps Setting mail read status to unread

    Hi,
This problem has only just started today. Everytime I start email and sync my imap accounts the status of the messages in the mailbox being synced change from read to unread. Every one and every time.
    Very odd.

    Hi pterobyte
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it seem to do nothing. My email keeps on saying everything is unread (on the server). Oddly this is only for one of the server imap accounts. not all of them. I did repair the DB and reconstruct my imap on the Server Admin. I think these problems came after that (might be wrong though).
I run three Macs and all them are having this problem. Is it likely that all three clients are wacked? (They all use isync).
    Thanks.

  • Message read status not changing (when changed on the server)

I have Mail set up to for Gmail using IMAP. I also have my iPhone set up for Gmail using IMAP. When a message gets marked as being read (either by reading it in Gmail, Mail or my iPhone) Mail does not update the status to read. If I read the message on Gmail or in Mail my iPhone updates the status to read. Shouldn't Mail update the status of the message to read when it changes on the server?

  • How to read status of a newly created notification

    Hello All,
I have implemented a BTE for the event PM000010 - Update Notification.
Now my problem is that I wish to read the existing statuses on the notification.
This works fine if the notification already existed before.
However, if the notification is newly created, then Function Modules STATUS_CHECK and STATUS_READ do not work.
This is only if the notification is newly created.
I am particularly interested to know if the status Notification In Process and Notification Completed are present on the order.
How do I achieve this since STATUS_CHECK and STATUS_READ are not able to fetch the statuses when the notification is newly created?
    Thanks,
    Mithun

    hi
    check out the below details
Where to get the table which is having user status with Notiifcation number.  (not the system status).
    By : Selva
    1. From table QMEL get OBJNR(object number) using the QMNUM( notification number).
    2. Using this OBJNR get STSMA( Status Profile) from table JSTO.
    3. Using the OBJNR get STAT(object status) from table JEST.
You may/ may not get multiple object status for an Object number.
System status number will start from E.
User status number will start from I.
    4. To get the text of the status, use the status number (STAT) and STSMA to get the status text from table TJ30T.
We have done this and working fine.

  • Message Tracking with Read Status

I am trying to determine if every mailbox user has *READ* a certain email.  In this particular use-case it is the company newsletter being sent from MailChimp.
I have tried getting the results of Get-MessageTrackingLog to display the status, e.g. whether it is READ or not.  I am able to get the information I need one recipient at a time using the Delivery Reports in OWA but that is very labor intensive.
Since Exchange knows the status of the message and the physical location of the message via Delivery Reports, how/what can I do to include those elements in the output of my Shell command(s)?!

    Hi,
Based on my research, delivery report is the best way to check whether an email has been read or not. And I haven’t found other ways. For delivery report, we can depend on the following steps.
    1. Make sure that the property ReadTrackingEnabled has been configured to True:
    Set-OrganizationConfig –ReadTrackingEnabled:$True
    2. Using Outlook 2010, go to Send Items, select your sent message, click File in the toolbar, and there you can select Open Delivery Report underneath Info.
