IMAP Sent messages will not write to server (mail 3.1, imail 9.22 server)

hi, i was waiting for today's update to fix this problem and it did, for about 3 minutes.
when i send messages from other clients including the iphone, sent mail gets written to the server, from mail 3.x it just hangs. the message sends, but the sent mail never goes.
is there ANY WAY to fix this? i cannot believe there is an update for mail and this is still happening.
is it something to do with the server?

I had problems using Mail 3 after I upgraded to Leopard, so I used Thunderbird for the time being. With the update 10.5.1 I tried again: most problems solved BUT: sent messages are not saved on the server in mailbox "Sent".
Some background: I deleted the folder "<User>/Library/Mail" and "<User>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist" and configured Mail from scratch.
To be sure: I still have Thunderbird installed, and when I send with Thunderbird: a copy is placed in "Sent".
Another thing I noticed: it takes more than a minute to send from Mail 3 and a few seconds when I send from Thunderbird. I have another Macbook Pro with 10.5.0 installed: same problem with sending.
Any help is appreciated.

Well, be stumped I did all that, but to be sure, I did it again:
I have a lot folders with subfolders and they are shown under my account name.
I created a new folder "test" in my IMAP account and designated it to be the new "Sent" folder. It replaces my previous Sent folder in the group Inbox, Drafts, Trash. My previous Sent folder now appears under my account name as a "normal" folder.
I send a message and the Activity monitor says: +"Delivering message: copying message"+. After a minute Mail is done. I check my (new) "Sent" folder and it's empty. I double check in webmail: it's empty.
So I go to the Finder and look in my IMAP folder: <user>/Library/Mail/<IMAP-account>/test.imapmbox and there is no folder "Messages", only Info.plist.
Then I try to move a message to the "Sent' folder: for a minute the Activity moinor says: Copying messages: copying message" and then Mail prompts: +"The message "testing" could not be+
+The connection to the server mail.hicetnunc.nl on port 143 timed out"+.
So it looks like Mail has a problem with the default "Sent" folder: it cannot copy messages to that folder at all! Aha!
But then I try to move a message to a "normal" IMAP folder: same thing! Mail cannot copy to any folder!
In both instances Mail says: +"The message "..." could not be be moved to the mailbox "..."+
+The connection to the server mail.hicetnunc.nl on port 143 timed out"+
Last thing: I try to move a message to a folder in the same account again. But in the process I quit Mail. I open Mail again and Mail is performing pending operations: copying message. After a while Mail prompts: +"Operation could not be completed. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028.)"+ and crashes... I open Mail again and it tries to peform pending operations. Again: an error message and Mail crashes. This keeps going on so I delete the whole account and set it up again. Nothing's changed...
I can receive and send, but sent messages are not copied to the "Sent" folder and I cannot move messages around within a IMAP account. But TADA!!!: I can move messages from account to account.

Visible sent message will not open

When I look at my sent mail box for one of my mail accounts. I can find messages from last march. If I click on a particular one mails says "Loading..." and never does anything else. If I click on a message above or below it. Those messages will show up fine. I can see the first two sentences in the preview panel, but the full message never loads.
Mail account is POP and there are no messages on the server's sent mailbox. Naturally with POP I am only using my computer to access it.

Follow the exact path shown in the screenshot.
The AppData folder is hidden by default in Windows.
If you cannot see it, in Windows Explorer click Tools > Folder Options, click the View tab then check the box labelled "Show hidden files, folders and drives"
You can now see the AppData folder and reach the .xml file to delete it.
Next time you launch Dreamweaver, it will recreate the .xml file automatically.

Sent Messages can not be read in MAIL, why?

Up to an hour ago, I could view all my SENT messages in MAIL, suddenly I am getting a message saying "The message from [account] has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
But I AM online!

This indicates an "overstuffed" mailbox issue which means the mailbox has some corruption and/or is over the recommended size limit.
The recommended mailbox size limit for Jagaur or Panther Mail is 1GB and for Tiger Mail, 2GB.
If your OS detail provided is accurate (10.3.9), do the following:
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > Sent Messages.mbox.
Move the Sent Messages.mbox to the Desktop.
When re-launching Mail, a new Sent Messages.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder when sending the next message with this account. This will allow the Mail.app to function properly again while working on the old Sent Messages.mbox moved to the Desktop to recover the existing messages and not risk losing any new messages sent with the account.
Control-click on the old Sent Messages.mbox moved to the Desktop and at the menu window that appears, select Show Package Contents.
List the package content file names and size of each here.
This information is required to determine the next step to take to recover the existing messages.

I am sad to hear about the screen on your phone. If you do not have Back Up Assistant set up, then all your contacts will not sync. Have you checked with your Gmail account to see if your contacts are there? Keep us posted.

Sent Messages are not saved in Sent Mailbox

It was working correctly but suddenly all my sent messages are not saved in the Sent Mailbox. I follow all the Mail Help instructions but nothing seems to work. Hope that someone can help me. I asked for help on december 14 but it was not helpful

The mailboxes drawer contains all mailboxes under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk (if you have Junk Mail set to automatic).
If you have a .Mac or IMAP type account, you also have an account named icon for the .Mac or IMAP type account at the bottom of the mailboxes drawer. It is named by the Account Description you provided/entered for the account under the Account Information tab for the account preferences.
If you select save Sent messages on the server for a .Mac or IMAP type account, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under the account named icon in the mailboxes drawer along with all other server stored mailboxes.
To open the account named icon for your .Mac account to reveal the server stored mailboxes including the account's Sent mailbox, select the black triangle beside your .Mac account icon in the mailboxes drawer pointing it down.
Select the account's Sent mailbox and at the menu bar, go to Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For and select Sent.
If you deselect store Sent messages on the server for the account preferences, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under Sent in the mailboxes drawer and you can't use "Use This Mailbox For" for mailboxes stored locally on the hard drive. It can only be used for .Mac or IMAP type account mailboxes that are stored on the server.

Snow Leopard 10.6.1 IMAP Sent Messages Missing! Where are they?

I upgraded to 10.6 from 10.5 and everything was fine apart from push to the iPhone! In an effort to get it all working I decided to do a clean install, so backed up my mail accounts (which should now be in one place in 10.6) and everything else + made disc image etc. However, after doing the clean install, and reconnecting the backed up email accounts, I can only see the mails in the inbox. There are no emails in the sent messages! I have looked in the mail account folders and can’t see anywhere that sent messages are stored. I have also since the clean install created new users and sent emails to see if anything arrives in that users mail store, and nothing comes in that I can see, but they can see the newly sent message in their sent folder! Only sent messages prior to the re-install are missing. I have the old install of the server backed up, so I can access them if I knew where to get them from.
Where are sent messages stored? It looks like they are going to some other location on the server rather than the specified location in mail prefs.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have any advice.

Hi, I used ditto (as root) to back up all the folders from /var/spool/imap/dovecot/mail/ and then to restore them – however, they are now in a new location on a separate drive which the mail prefs are pointing too. I have checked to see if anything is going into /var/spool/imap/dovecot/mail/ and nothing is there – which is correct.
I have also checked permissions and they are fine.
If this was a brand new install it would all be working as normal – I can see new sent messages, just not the old ones or old folders that users might have made.
However there is no folder in the UID’s called Sent Messages – even with new accounts! The only folders are "cur" (received mails), "new" and "tmp". I have no idea where the sent messages are being saved too (old or new)! I was expecting a folder within the UID’s with the sent messages inside.

Cookie will not write using weblogic 5.1 and Apache

OPC will not write to AB L32E - Will Read.
I have been able to set up a OPC Server using the NI OPC Server, using the ControlLogix Ethernet driver for the AB 1769-L32E PLC.
All of the tags can be seen. The Lookout 6.7.1 will see real time data, but anything I write too, never shows up in the PLC.
Using the OPCclient in Lookout. Their is No alarm's, other than a value has been adjusted by direct user input..
Their is no comm errors.
I just purchased this software last month.
The NI OPC Server, Events, no errors.

Thanks for your posts because I knew this should be possible. Here is what I found. Check step 4 of your channel in case your value updating is wrong or Step 11 of device is set to do not create on startup.
Thanks to the folks at Kepware. I was able to get this working for CompactLogix L32E.
Step 1: In NI OPC Server Create a new Channel. Channel Name can be whatever you want.
Step 2: Device driver will be ControlLogix Ethernet. You can also enable diagnostics if you want.
Step 3: Network adapter. I used default setting.
Step 4: Write only latest values. Duty at 10. ( These are default settings and are recommended.)
Step 5: Finish new Channel setup
Step 6: Click on Icon to create new device
Step 7: Device Name can be whatever you chose.
Step 8: Select Device Model in this case CompactLogix 5300
Step 9: Device ID For me was IP Address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX,1,0 (Note the 1 directs path to backplane. The 0 to the slot where processor is)
Step 9: Device timing. Leave at defaults.
Step 10: Auto demotion leave unchecked.
Step 11: Leave at defaults Do not generate on startup Delete on create and allow subgroups
Step 12: Port and watchdogs at default settings
Step 13: Project options leave at default. (In my case I changed to short as that is what most of my tags were)
Step 14: Create tagname from device.
Step 14: Finish Device setup.
You now have two options.
Option 1: Start creating tags as you need them. (This is what I did)
Option 2: Right Click newly created device and select properities. Then select database creation and click auto create.
Go To Lookout and create new driver.
Select OPC Client
Server name will be from dropdown menu. National Instruments:NIOPCServers
Click okay
You should be done and smiling.

Maxl Script will not write to error file for data laod.

Sorry Glenn here is the new thread. I re ran without the semi colon after data 3 and the same error came up without anything being written to the error file.
I purposely removed a member from the orginal outline that is included in the data loaded but yet the error file is not written to. I tried doing the load manually but executing it in the background, error file is to be created on my local HD but it does not write it there. Checked the output and it is written to a directory located on the server. Although i think this is normal.
Could it be that it will not write to a local drive? I am going to try specifying a spot on the server to see if it runs there.

I am running Admin Console from my client PC that connects to the server in the script and I read that in this set up the error file will not get written to. This documentation was for v 9.1.3
Here is my script (i changed some of the names)

I don't see a dollar sign anywhere in my code and the error file does not get produced.

This works for me in a MaxL script run through essmsh.exe:
import database appname.dbname data from local text data_file "d:\\datafilename.txt" using server rules_file "rulename"
on error write to "d:\\errorfilename.err" ;Sometimes EAS (I think you are running it through that) does weird things to MaxL. I eschew MaxL in EAS as much as possible (like 100% of the time).
NB -- the datafilename and errorfilename and their drive letters are local to wherever you're running this process through the MaxL shell. I don't know how that works when you're running EAS -- are drives local to your session, local to the EAS server? Dunno. Leave EAS behind, buy TextPad (no I am not the author of that fine product) and download the MaxL syntax library, and be happy. :)

iPhoto 9.2 photo descriptions will not write - after a few letters words self erase! Program update downloaded earlier today, 24.10.11. Fine on my laptop, but my desktop is having problems.

Rebuild the main library.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
