IMAP with GWIA 7.0.2

Hi Guys,
I am currently running BM3.8 sp4 on NW6.5 sp6. Which is a bomb proof solution for us. I now have to allow certain remote users access to their GroupWise 7.0.2 accounts via IMAP/IMAP SSL.
I am familiar with filter setup, could someone advise as to the correct set of filters to allow them to access IMAP or IMAP SSL to view, open and reply via GroupWise please. I have to confess being a little confused as to wether to use a static pair or wether a staeful filter would be the better option and wether I need to allow the users acces to ports other that 143/993.

Well, whatever ports you have configured to service IMAP in your GW
system.

Stateful filters are virtually always the better option. It doesn't
matter what service.

Well, as IMAP is strictly a read-only solution, if you also want to send
through your GW system, you also need to be able to access SMTP, e.g
port 25 of course.

Can you use IMAP with the ipads mail feature?

    Kappy,
Yes, our domain and email accounts are on a server that does accept IMAP. Also, our mac mini and imacs are all set up for IMAP. Buying an ipad will enable me to work from home during this winter.
Another ?: do you know if you can use text edit with the iPads mail feature? Reason being we have about 100 generic emails that all we have to do is change a few fields before sending out. Can this be integrated in without having to recreate all these messages?

  • Redundancy with GWIA

We currently have the following environment:
    1. Groupwise 2012 server #1 on one server, with GWIA, MTA, POA,
WebAccess on that server. Primary MX record points to this server. On
    our dsl internet connection
    2. Groupwise 2012 server #2, GWIA, MTA, on that server. Secondary MX
record points to this server. On our cable internet connection.
Currently, For incoming purposes, email normally comes in via the
primary MX record to server #1. If it is not responding, email incoming
traffic goes via the secondary MX record to server #2. m This is automatic.
However, I am not certain that the outgoing emails have automatic
redundancy. If the GWIA on server #1 cannot process outgoing mail
simply because the dsl internet connection it uses is down, does the
outgoing emails automatically get routed to server #2 to go out that
GWIA. Or does that automatic rerouting occur only if the GWIA on server
    #1 is actually down.
I had read that the redundancy routing of the GWIA to server #2 did not
work on GW6, but did work on GW7. Is that the case and does it work
automatically for GW2012 in the instance where the GWIA on server #1 is
still up but is not able to connect to the internet because the internet
    connection is down.
We want to have automatic outgoing GWIA redundancy in addition to the
    incoming GWIA redundancy.

What would be the proper configuration to provide for this outbound

  • Moved from Pop to Imap with same account but lost pop3 archive

    Hello,
I switch my [email protected] from Pop3 to Imap with the same email adress . It worked perfectly. Thank you Mozilla team BUT:
1- as it is the same adress I was not allowed by TB to configure the Imap nor to reconfigure the POP.
2- so I deleted the POP account but then lost the archive which were configured by years.
I looked into my POP profile ( had made a back-up :-) ) but could not find any folders. Also search on your site but did not find the solution.
Any idea how I should proceed to retrieve my archive? Thank you

    Hi Marcel,
My archived were configured by years. I had exactly followed the proposed procedure of Mozilla : [http://mzl.la/1g2pBB5 ].
I have not yet looked onto the hard drive because I do not know what to look for ( extension of file, name of file etc....) .

  • How do I set up Mail service for simple IMAP with SSL?

This should be easy but something isn't working. I have an Xserve with 10.6. I've enabled the Mail service, and want to add this server as an Account under Entourage. I've put in the IP address, my username/password, etc. but something isn't working. It appears under the Accounts folder tree, but when I try to send an email, I have a window that says "4.7.0 TLS not available due to local problem", Error -17099". I've also seen errors telling me the password is being sent in cleartext and I can't see where I enable the same (SSL, password needed) settings on the client and the server menus. Can someone clue me in - what are the right settings on both ends to have a simple IMAP w/o cleartext passwords? I had this working fine in 10.4 Server... Thanks!
    Mike

I see dropdown menus for SMTP SSL and IMAP/POP SSL. I have them both set as "Require"
Do not to this if your server is handling incoming mail from outside your network.
Few remote mail servers will use SSL, so if your server requires SSL then you will not be able to receive mail from outside your domain.
'Use', on the other hand, advertises the fact your server supports SSL, so clients and remote servers can use if if they like, but this still allows other mail in.
What should "Authentication" be - "Login" or "Plain"
Do not use Plain unless you absolutely trust all your clients (i.e. they're all on a LAN or all using SSL). Plain sends an unencrypted password over the wire, which is susceptible to sniffing.
what will the client be using?
    Whatever you set it to.
The client complains about a correct root certificate not being installed).
Are you using a self-signed certificate? if so, you're going to get that unless you do a lot of extra work. Getting a real certificate from a trusted authority should resolve this.
As for the slow connections, the use of SSL shouldn't significantly impact connection or delivery/transfer times, so something else is amiss.

  • Two important problems with GWIA

I have two major problems in GroupWise 8 SP2 with the latest HP.
First, something I arose at another facility with HP2 and that in this new server with HP3 still happens, the file is lost gwac.db every 5 days at 0 hours exactly. Something I could fix with a script manager to create a backup file every 15 minutes to restore it if it is deleted. While it solves is not neat and not find what you send to delete the file.
And second, that only happens to me with the HP3 is with respect to uid.run, each time I stop the service leaves gwia file as if it was running. My solution was to use the same script gwac.db that by lowering the lift service and delete the file uid.run, but obviously this is not neat.

I'm not certain about the second issue but the first is a shoe in...
Look at the working directory and you have set that to be the
wpgate/gwia folder - and that is where the temp files are stored. It
will not delete the temp files before they are 5 days old...
Change the work directory (or better still just delete the string and
let the GWIA decide) and the problem will stop.
This should also have happened in NetWare, but there is a bug that
    stops it...

  • How to configure Yahoo IMAP with ATT.Yahoo service

I'm hearing about using Yahoo IMAP push server, but can find no such option about configuring my current ATT.Yahoo service for anything but POP/SMTP. Where should I be looking? Thanks

I could find this info nowhere so hopefully this will help someone with the same problem I was having.
In case anyone with an ATT.YAHOO account formerly SBC, or Pacbell, etc. You have to manually set up an IMAP account. So if your e-mail address is "[email protected]", you would Add an account, choose Yahoo Y! Mail and enter your [email protected] address and your ATT.YAHOO POP password. It will confirm the account and you will now have IMAP Push e-mail on your ATT account. But your ATT.Yahoo account (as far as I can tell) must remain a standard POP account on OS X Mail on your Mac. So you don't want to synch your iPhone ATT.Yahoo Mail accounts.

  • Problem using IMAP with folders

Most of my accounts are POP3, but I've created a new IMAP account for some specific messages. On three different machines, the messages from this account get routed to folders via Mail rules.
The messages are getting deleted from the server and the machines are not syncing, presumably because moving them to a special folder removes them from the mailbox sync area. IS that right?
Now each of the machines has unique messages that aren't shared by the other ones and the server is empty.
SO - how do you utilize IMAP accounts across folders with rules involved.

the folders you create should not be local folders, they should belong to that IMAP account. when you are creating a new folder you are given a choice of where to make it. you should choose your IMAP account instead of "on my mac". then the folders will be created on the server and synced across all computers with IMAP access to that account.

  • Draft Folder in IMAP with Outlook 2010

    Hi.
I have three Outlook accounts (work related) that I recently converted to IMAP from POP.  Everything seems to be working fine with the exception that I can't find a way of having the "Drafts" folder appear in the Folders List.  There
doesn't seem to be a way of finding a draft either.
Today I composed quite a lengthy email and when I clicked on "send" Outlook stalled and gave the warning that it was "not responding" - this is very unusual.  After a few seconds the email just disappeared and now I cannot recover
it.  It has been my experience in a POP account environment that if a composed email fails to "send" for any reason, it automatically saves a copy in the "drafts" folder - this doesn't seem to be the case in IMAP.
Any suggestions as to how I can get access to a "Drafts" folder and have it displayed in a MAPI environment?
    Thanks

    Hi,
First please go to View tab -> Reset View.
Then run Scanpst.exe to repair the Outlook Data File:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227
Start Outlook with the switch /resetfolders:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /resetfolders” in the blank box, then press Enter.

  • Is there a way to set up IMAP with Gmail & not have it import 3,000 emails?

I just set up my Iphone with the mail setting. I set up my Gmail with IMAP cause I heard that was new and better than POP. The problem I am having is that now that it is set up I have close to 3,000 emails in my inbox. Is there a way to have it import emails that arrive from a certain point on? or to delete all of those old emails at once? I am getting extremely frustrated with all of this email business. It seems so easy but no matter how I set it up it always seems to never work out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It is only better if you access the account with an email client on your computer as an IMAP account as well as being accessed as an IMAP account with the iPhone's email client which provides for keeping all server stored mailboxes synchronized automatically between both email clients used. In addition, you can store sent messages on the server with both email clients and when sending a message with the iPhone's email client, it will be available in the account's Sent mailbox when accessing the account with the email client on your computer and vice-versa which is not possible with a POP account.
I believe there is a setting via webmail access for your account for this.
If not and you are also accessing this account with an email client on your computer as an IMAP account, you can delete the messages from the account's Inbox there and when checking the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's email client, it will be synchronized with the server automatically removing all messages automatically that were deleted with your computer's email client but these messages will no longer be available to you with either email client.
With your computer's email client for any messages that you want to save but you no longer want them available on the server, you can create an additional mailbox stored locally on your hard drive. Transferring messages from a server stored mailbox with an IMAP account to a mailbox stored locally on your hard drive stores the transferred messages on your hard drive and removes them from the server at the same time. Or you can create an additional server stored mailbox or mailboxes with the email client used on your computer or via webmail access for the account and transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox to the designated server stored mailbox that was created. This way the additional server stored mailbox and the messages within will be available when accessing the account with your iPhone automatically in case you need to access any of these messages when using your iPhone and you can transfer messages from the account's Inbox mailbox or Sent mailbox on your iPhone to the server stored mailbox created which will also be kept synchronized with the server when accessing the account with the email client used on your computer.

  • Imap with a 100 message limit (like mail for iphone)

    hi,
i'd like to know if there is a way to ask apple mail to only download/display the last 50 or 100 emails of an IMAP inbox.
this is the way apple mail works for iphone...
can i configure it this way on mac OS X leopard ?
    thanks for your help

You can set it up to not download any message until you click on one in the list to read. This is done in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced by selecting to not keep copies of messages and their attachments, or can limit it to keep with the attachments. However, Search of the entire message depends upon having these temporary copies on board you Mac.

  • IMAP with BT Blackberry

My director has BB Curve. We have our own domain emails which are currently forwarded to Gmail accounts - we use Gmail for various reasons which I won't bore you with. We don't have an MS Exchange Server and that's not an option at the moment.
It appears that it's not possible to sync Gmail with the BB via IMAP. Our own domain also supports IMAP mailboxes (albeit with smaller storage) but that doesn't seem compatible either.
As far as I can see, the only option is to set up MS Exchange mail boxes and sync with them. Is that REALLY the only option?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Gmail does use two-way reconcile of sent, read and deleted messages, as this past month.

  • IMAP with Gmail

Has anyone successfully set up Gmail using the IMAP protocol. I set up a Gmail account but it is not "pushing" mail. It works ok -but you have to manually check or set up for polling the server at intervals (just like with a pop acccount.)
Yes, I have seen the video and, yes, I set the account up manually using IMAP instead of the iphone default (pop) for Gmail.
So now I wonder if Gmail does in fact support "push". Anyone ?

I see that the Mail application with Leopard has a checkbox to use IMAP IDLE. When I check the box, it does get email from Gmail as soon as it hits the Google server. I had thought that Yahoo uses IDLE and therefore Gmail IMAP might work on the iPhone. No such luck it seems.
