Imapct of bank key length increase in OY17

Hi Folks,
Regarding Vendor Master (Payment transactions view).
Bank Key field length is set for 4 digits for MEXICO. The request is to increase the same to 6 digits.
Provided I just change the length of the bank key from 4 (and checking rule 6)  to 6 , will there be any repurcussions?
What additional checks to be taken care of before completing such a change.
Thanks

check the bank keys in existing mexican vendors whether they fit to your new setup, or if they will create an error while maintaining this vendor in any other field.

    Hi
Check the Bank Value in country specific setting in SPRO.Currently it may be defined as 1 which is based on bank number and the Bank Number would have been defined as 9.Now change the Bank Key to 4 by changing the same you can assign bank key externallly.
Path in ECC 6.0 : SPRO -> SAP Netweaver -> General Settings -> Set Countries-> Set Country Specific Checks

    thanks in advance

    Hello Jaipal,
You can change Bank Key in FI12 transaction. Also note that the bank key is controlled at IMG-SAP Netweaver-General Settings-Set Countries-Set Country Specific Checks.  Here you can specify the bank key settings (whether it is bank number or is it assigned externally).
Do let us know whether this info is useful

  • Taiwan bank key missing

    Hello,
For Taiwan vendor i dont have any bank key communicated, as it doesn't exist for Taiwanese banks (is this assumption correct?).
If so,  what's would be the best solutions among the 2 options mentioned below and the impacts.
    1. can i use the swift code in the place of the bank key?.Taking in to account that no control parametres are activated in the transaction OY17 for bank account number.
2.can i generate an external assignment number in the bank key?
While executing my payment cycle, (considering that the bank account for taiwan vendor has been correctly maintained in the bank account field in SAP) , will there be a negative impacts by using swift code in the place of  bank key .The output source is my ETEBAC file which is integrated with my house bank.
Duplicating the bank account in the bank key field would not be logic and sap dosent control it too.

  • What is bank key ?

I am trying to set up a new house bank for Sweden. What is bank key or bank number ? Is it any number I can put ? or  specific number I have to ask from Bank ? It is asking a number of 04 length.
    Thanks in advance

In this field, you specify the bank key under which bank data from the respective country is stored.
When you define the country key, you also specify the country-specific definition of the bank key.
Normally, you manage banks using their bank number. The bank number in the control data for the bank is then displayed twice, that is, as the bank key too.
In certain countries, the bank account number takes on this function; then there are no bank numbers and the bank data is managed using the account number.
For data medium exchange, you may find it useful to be able to enter foreign business partners without a bank number, even if there are bank numbers in the country in question. In this case, the bank key can be assigned internally.
To manage bank data using another key, for example, the SWIFT code, external number assignment can also be used.

  • Regarding Bank key and Bank account number

    Hi All,
I have a query regarding Bank key and Bank account number.
I want to set bank account number length as 9 digits. so I set it @ below path
SPRO -> SAP NetWeaver-> General settings -> Set countries -> Set country specific checks.
I tried to change the bank account number length to 9 digits from existing 10 digits using transaction FI12.
But while changeing the bank account system throws an error like "Bank account number or bank number are not of valid length".
Can any one suggest solution on this?
    Thanks in Advance!
    Regards,
    Nidhi

    Dear Nidhi,
It seems that earlier bank account number contained 10 digits and then setting was changed to 9 digits that may be the cause of the error. Do one thing, go back to country setting and restore the bank account number digit to 10. Then make changes to bank account number to 9 digits. Make similar changes to all bank in your company code which has 10 digits.
Then go to country settings and make account number digit to 9 digit which will prevent bank account number to be 10 digits created in future.

  • Bank Key for Brazil .

I am working on Upgrade project to ECC 6.0 we have a 8 Digit Bank key (SAY 12340001) . Which is used, Now SAP has created following validation for BANK number for Brazil. That My 5th Digit should not be 0. So it's throwing Error. How Can to handel this?
    Validates a Brazilian bank number
The bank number has 3 parts: BBBCAAAA
    BBB         = Bank
    C           = Code (Branch)
AAAA        = Agencia (1 to 4 digits, no leading zeros!)
This algorithm verifies that the agency number has no leading zeros
(According to this bank key should not have 0 as a fifth digit.)

    Dear Darshan,
In transaction OY17 select BR (Brazil) and go to the end of page.
In Further Check there is a field "Bank Data".
Please, check if this field is flaged. I don't think it's necessary in Brazil (Check in Help, F1).
I've checked without any flag and could created as you wish.
    BBBCAAAA = 23720410
    I hope it helps.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Bank Key, Bank Number and SWIFT code

    Hi expert,
I would like to consult your expertise on the following issues: Bank Key, Bank Number and SWIFT code.
In Country Field Check, OY17, If I select the bank key (section key for bank directory) options 4, assigned externally; then in FI01 bank key data creation, my bank number (in control data section) can be freely defined.
If in OY17, my bank key option is 1, bank number.  Then, during FI01 bank data creation, my bank number must be same with bank key.
My question is that:  I would like, in OY17, selection option 4, but I would like to have some clarifications on FI01 bank creation as well as electronic bank statement ( section of: Assign bank account accounts to transactions types):  In the section of Assign bank account accounts to transactions types, I need to fill in bank key+bank account and transaction type.
My Questions: during MT940, electronic bank statement (EBS), since I set bank key + bank account, what control data (in FI01 screen) that SAP will use for automatic EBS?  Bank number or SWIFT code?
Besides that, I am not quite understand statement by SAPPress book, Quick Reference Guide Financial Accounting with SAP - Chapter 7 Banking, as follows:
If you use the SWIFT code as bank key in a specific country, we strongly recommend that you set the bank data flag on the further checks section in OY17.  This ensures that the system automatically performs the formal control on the SWIFT code entered in the SWIFT code field (BNKA-SWIFT), and not on the SWIFT code entered in bank key.
    Thanks in advance

House bank master data  it is related all your bank master data.Example,Hdfc,ICICI,Axis ,BOB  etc.

  • Bank key during creation of house bank

    Hi,
When we create a new house bank via FI12, we need to specify the bank key.  The problem here is that the bank key is system generated.  Usually for creation of house bank, we will create in development and transport to PROD.  However, we have problem where the bank key in development is NOT the same as that in PROD.
    Does anyone have this problem?
    Thanks & rgds,
    Yvonne

    Hi Yvonne,
In our systems the bank key is not automatically generated by SAP. We have it setup so that we designate the bank key and since bank key is master data, we are able to create it manually in each of our systems or ALE it over to the systems that require the information. So we do not run into the issue you've described above.

  • Invalid key length on hard drive. Can this be fixed?

    Hello,
I have a question about an error I am receiving with a hard drive I have been using for a few months on an imac G3 (the slot loading version). I bought this used 80 GIG hard drive on ebay for a friend of mine and I helped him transfer all his data from his older 9 GIG drive to this newer 80 GIG drive that I bought for him on ebay. I simply cloned the 9 GIG drive onto the new drive using Carbon Copy Cloner. There is not a lot of data on the drive - only about 3 GIGs of data.
The drive is the only drive in the computer (an imac G3) and therefore it is the startup drive. The operating system on the drive is OS9. All was working fine for a few months until just last week. Now I am receiving this following error:
    error message:
The disk "Macintosh HD" appears to be damaged. Use a disk repair utility to repair the disk.
And so I used the disk utility built into OS9 to see if I could repair the problem. (I think OS9's disk utility is called "Disk First Aid")
When using OS9s disk utility (I think it is called "Disk First Aid") the following report is issued:
    Problem: Invalid key length, 4,943
Test done. Problems were found but Disk First Aid cannot repair them.
    My questions are:
What is an "Invalid key length"?
    How serious is this?
    What would cause this?
Could this have been caused by the physical condition of the disk or possibly by the software on the disk?
Would re-formatting the drive fix it? (Of course I would try to save any data first onto another disk)
Or is it risky to continue to use this disk even after reformatting it?
I guess I have a lot of questions here and if anyone could make any suggestions or comment on why "Invalid key length" errors happen I would really appreciate it. Thanks:)
    Here are some details:
When I bought the 80 GIG hard drive from ebay the first steps I took were to format the drive using OS9's "drive setup", load the OS9 drivers and then I verifed the disk. The disk seemed to be fine. Then I cloned his old drive onto this 80 GIG drive using Corbon Copy Cloner. I was sure the 80 GIG drive was in a healthy state at that time and I trusted it enough to give it to my friend for his startup drive. Now that the drive has failed with his data and programs, I feel pretty bad. How could this "Invalid key length" error occur?
Should I go back to the person who sold me the drive on ebay and ask for a refund? Or are "Invalid key length" errors a common occurance with hard drives that should just be accepted? Or might it possibly be the contents (data) on my friend's disk that caused this error.
It has been suggested to me to use "Tech Tools Pro" or "Disk Warrior" to repair the disk. Hopefully that might repair the disk. Unfortunately these programs are too expensive for this purpose because they would cost more than the computer actually costs (its an old imac G3 computer). I found a service that would run Disk Warrior on the disk to repair it for a $50 fee. Still, that is also not worth it as the computer may not even be worth $50.
    Here are some specifications:
80 GIG drive specs: SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200.7 80GB hard drive
computer: imac G3 (slot loading version)
    OS: Mac OS9
Thank you for any suggestions especially as to whether I should attempt to return the hard drive or look for a refund for this hard drive or attempt to reformat the drive and try again (backing up the data first).
I also question the source of all the data on my friends computer. If he had the original operating system disks (which he said didn't come with his computer when he purchased it second-hand), I could have easily re-installed the OS and the applications. But he doesn't have any disks. That serves me right for having to deal with trying to help out someone who has software from a questionable source. I'm never doing that again. I guess that makes me guilty too as an accomplice. I don't feel very good about this
I didn't know for sure - but I guess I should have assumed his software was illegal if he didn't have the disks - I was afraid to ask. I'm never putting myself in this possibly illegal situation again. Never again will I try to help someone out who doesn't clearly have the legal disks. Please forgive me and everyone else who reads this post. I feel shameful about this but somehow I must get myself out of this problem. I've learned a good lesson. Should I attempt to fix his computer? Or should I tell him to first buy a legal OS and software before I can help him out? You see I feel further guilt because I was the one who gave him the 80 GIG problematic hard drive that failed and I feel I should have to fix it. Can anyone offer me a bit of advice? What do I do?
What's the right thing to do?

    Thank you Jim and Apple2Freak,
I appreciate your comments. I am now suggesting to my friend to buy a legal OS and if that is the case I am suggesting to him to move to OSX instead of OS9. Luckily he let me know there wasn't much data on that drive that he needed to save. I am still trying to determine if I could still use this hard drive with the keylength errors if I erase it or if the hard drive has permanent damage. I am hoping that I could install OSX on it and erase the hard drive to start again.
This imac (slot loading version) can support up to OS 10.3.9 however I might consider Xpostfacto to try to run 10.4. But then I would need to buy 10.3.9 as well as 10.4 and that would double my OS cost. I think I might just look for OS 10.3.9 only. Its not worth it for me to buy two OSes for it.
Jim, your post was very interesting because it also pointed out that it could be an issue of bad RAM. A few months ago we installed some new second-hand RAM and I wonder if that is the cause of all these problems. I will have to check that first.
    Thanks again!
