IMAQdx and Mightex USB Camera

Hello,
I'm having trouble getting my Mightex USB camera to work with Labview 2010 and IMAQdx.  Previously I installed their DirectShow drivers and was using Labview 8.5 with the IMAQ for USB package and everything worked fine.  Now I'm looking to operate the camera with Labview 2010, however running any of the IMAQdx example programs, such as Grab.vi in Labview 2010, throws an unidentified error.  To troubleshoot, I attempted to see if I could operate the camera using Measurement and Automation Explorer version 5.0.0f1.  The "NI-IMAQdx Devices" list populates with two entries:
-cam1 : Mightex_BufferSource Filter
-Mightex CCD Camera : Mightex_BufferCCDSource Filter
When I click on either of these to try and access the camera, I get the following error: "Error 0x8007007E  The scarab quadrant number is invalid" which returns 0 results in google!
I've contacted Mightex. They are not using Labview 2010 but believe their DirectShow drivers are fine, and I know they are installed correctly because everything works with IMAQ for USB in Labview 8.5.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or clues as to where the problem could be?  Do their drivers need to be updated specifically for IMAQdx, or should the DirectShow drivers that worked with IMAQ for USB be sufficient to work with IMAQdx?
Thanks for your help!

OK nevermind, I'm an idiot.  A mod can delete this thread or perhaps leave it up if you think it might be useful to someone someday.
I had changed the folder name where the camera software and drivers were located on my local computer after installing everything, and this is what messed everything up.  I reinstalled the DirectShow drivers and now everything works fine.

  • T410 USB camera for Citrix not visible

I am trying (unsuccessfully) to get a USB camera to redirect to a XenApp desktop using the Citrix receiver 13.0.5 running on a T410 Smzrt Zero Client.
The camera is visible if I connect to the Citrix server from the T410 using RDP, but using the Citrix Receiver it is not visible.  I can see USB memory sticks under both Citrix and RDP, but the camera only shows under RDP.
I have tried 2 cameras (both Canon) and neither will work - Canon Powershot G1X and Canon IXUS 130.
I have checked the Citrix policy for USB redirection and am confident that this is correct as I can connect from a PC running the Citrix client and the USB camera will redirect to the session.  It is just the T410's Citrix receiver that appears to have the issue.
Please advise .. I've had trouble finding a single definitive resource about connecting and redirecting cameras on the T410 , so hopefully others will benefit from a solution.  This is currently a show stopper for us - we are about to rollout a whole heap of T410's, but can't until this is resolved.

Yes this is true, but I want a medium res camera that I can send pics from. I have a sony-ericsson w/3.2mp, but I would like an iphone and not take a step backward with camera. 2mp would be fine w/ optical zoom or 3.2mp.
Also to take a pic transfer it to the phone and send it and do that 10-30 times a day gets old. I do have a digital camera, and that's for taking pictures. I use the phone for taking visual notes and the detail at 10+ meters is somewhat important.
Also note my 3.2 take much better pics then the iphone the fuzziness occurs with the higher res chips.
The phone does not replace the camera, laptop, 20mb cable internet, but is a more portable, integrated device. If I wanted a high res picture I have my grandfathers old 8x10 film camera.

  • Which is better for usb camera between VISA and imaqdx in labview 2010?

i have done a program for usb camera to acquire images with imaqdx.
now i want to know which is better between VISA and  imaqdx in labview 2010?
    i didn't study visa before
    thans for help.

VISA is primarily used to communicate with instruments via GPIB/TCP-IP/Serial/USB. In order to use easily VISA with an instrument over USB the instrument must adhere to the USBTMC spec. A camera is not likely to have this. Otherwise you have to use USB RAW, and that requires detailed knowledge of the data that is transmitted by the instrument. Manufacturers rarely give this information out. Normally they will provide a DLL to communicate with the instrument.
Thus, in your case, VISA is not going to be an appropriate API to use for a USB camera.
Out of curiosity, what prompted this question?

  • USB camera problem - Error -2147024882 occurred at IMAQdx Open Camera.vi

    Hi,
I have just started to try and use a new USB camera (5MP) on LabVIEW and I am getting this error (Error -2147024882 occurred at IMAQdx Open Camera.vi) along with the message
LabVIEW:  (Hex 0x8007000E) Ran out of memory.
    =========================
NI System Configuration:  (Hex 0x8007000E) Out of memory.
Also MAX comes up with the error "0x8007000E Buffer size used is too small for minimum aquisition frame"
Is there a maximum camera resolution that MAX/LabVIEW can handle? Can I increase this buffer size?
I am using LabVIEW 2012 and MAX 5.5 on Windows 7 and the original MS LifeCam is working fine.
    Thanks in advance
    Ivan

    Hi IvanChurch,
-I've used your code and it's working fine in my pc.I was able to capture image using webcam. Seems no problem in this, still added delay in while to ensure proper delay is given for pc.
-Little bit of curious about your system config, particularly RAM size and free available during labview execution (can find this in Task Manager). Because if labview didn't have any free space during execution, it might be throwing this error.
-If the available free space is too low during execution, may be try clsong all other applications and try acquiring again.
Please revert back if the problem is not fixed
    Thanks

  • IMAQdx USB Camera low Resolution -- "For internet Use" Option?

    Hello,
I have a USB camera that is directshow compliant. The resolution of the camera should be close to 2600x2000 (not sure on exact). When I see available "Video Modes", the highest resolution is 352x288 resolution.
The company supplying the camera told me to uncheck "For internet Use" in the property Panel to help fix the resolution problem.
I don't see this option anywhere. I looked in the IMAQdx property node as well for any "internet attribute"
Any ideas on where this option is or how I can fix this poor resolution?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hello Lawrence,
I contacted the vendor and they sent me a "registration entries" file. To update you just open the file. I was using a Moticam camera and the original SDK didn't allow for some of the changes in the directshow driver so that is why they sent an update. If you are also using Moticam, I can send you the same file, otherwise, contact the vendor directly.

I was just wondering if ypu could connect a usb SuperDrive if you use the lightning to usb camera adapter, a usb hub, and then plug the SuperDrive into the hub. Will it work to play disks, or movies, or something?

  • What is the exact technical difference between "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" and "Lightning to USB Cable"

Mainly I am interested in attaching the iPhone to a receiver (or car etc.) to play music.
Both the "Lightning to USB Cable" and the "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" seem to do the trick. So what is the exact technical difference between the two items?
When connected to a receiver, is the iPhone the USB Master in both cases? Is the USB "Audio Device Class" standard used to transmit audio?

Thanks for all the answers! I think I should specify the use case much more clearly. Sorry for not having done this earlier.
    Use Case 1:
When I connect the iPhone to the receiver I can use the Lightning to USB, because the receiver has a female type A, just like e.g. a PC or like the charger. So I would agree that the Receiver must be the USB host, and the iPhone the USB device. This works just fine in my case, with iPhone and iPad.
In this case, the audio goes from the device to the host, or "Audio-in".
    Use Case 2:
A friend of mine has a small device that converts USB to Toslink. This thing has a female Mini USB Type A, which is typically used at the receiving side of a USB connection. This device can be connected e.g. to a Mac, and then the Mac can output audio via this device to receiver which accepts optical Toslink signals.
In this case, the audio goes from the host to the device, or "Audio-out".
It is this use case 2 that I am unsure about:
    a) Can the Lightning to USB cable be used in this case (assuming that I find the necessary non-standard adapters to actually connect the USB ports)? This would mean that the iPhone can act as a USB host with the Lightning to USB cable.
    b) I know that the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter does convert the iPad into an USB host, otherwise it could not read data from a camera. So could this adapter also be used to produce "Audio out" to a USB device that supports receiving music?
If yes, would this also work with an iPhone (as pointed out in another answer, the iPhone does nor support reading pictures from a camera)?

  • Two Simultaneous USB Camera Image Acquisition and Saving

    Hello everyone,
Recently my friends and I have begun a project which requires the simultaneous acquisition of images from two independent USB cameras. Throughout our project research we have encountered many difficulties. The major problem appears to be how to successfully interface two USB cameras and properly save the image to a median for further processing down the road.
Our first attempted at this was with the USB IMAQ drivers. Unfortunately, to our surprise, it does not support two independent and simultaneous camera acquisitions. To combat this problem we implemented a crude loop of closing a camera reference, then opening the other, acquiring an image, then closing, etc... This did provide us with functionality but was very inefficient, resulting insufficient acquisition speeds.
Afterwards we began looking at other ways of capturing and writing the image, which are listed below.
    Various Acquisition Interfaces / Strategies
USB IMAQ Driver - USB interfacing kit available for public download, (not officially supported by NI) zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5030
Status - Abandoned because of the lack of dual web camera support
Avicap32.dll - Windows 32 DLL responsible for all web camera communication, and other media devices.
Status - Currently acquired two streams of video on the front panel but with no way of saving the images
Directx - The core Windows technology that drives high-speed multimedia on a PC.
    Status - Currently researching.
.NET - Microsoft .NET framework, possibly a valid interface to a video stream.
Status - No development until further progress.
We are still currently developing the Avicap32.dll code but the major bottleneck is the learning curve on the property nodes, library calling nodes, .NET and other references. So far it’s been a tedious effort of trying to understand example code and piece them together. As a former programmer of C I know this is not the proper way of writing code web I can’t seem to grasp how these functions work. (Property nodes, library calling nodes, .NET and other references). Learning this may allow us the knowledge to code a proper system. Does anyone know any good tutorials or learning material for such functions? So far my research has come up empty handed.
We are currently working with these interfaces and other reference examples on the NI site. Unfortunately we cannot seem to properly integrate the code for our system. Does anyone know if this setup is even possible? Also, if anyone has any experience with similar systems and can offer advice, code snippets, or any other assistance it would be greatly appreciated.
Our current projects will be posted below if you have any suggestions. (More will be added when I get to my desktop tomorrow)
Two Camera Avicap32.dll - Currently stuck on how to save the image, various tweaks have gotten us stuck at this point ( will have another Avicap32.dll implementation posted tomorrow)
USB Capture Example - This USB capture VI was an example that immediate had problems. We used it as a baseline for crude open-close camera image grabbing system. (Will also be posted tomorrow)
Thanks for any help, it's much appreciated.

Thanks for the information but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I've been to that URL and read the information before. I don't mean to disparage you help but I'm looking for ways that I can successfully implement a functional system, not information on an unfunctional method. Maybe I was unclear before, I'm looking for any advice, knowledge or help on how to make this system properly work.
    Thanks, have a great day.

  • USB Camera and Low level VIs

    Hello all,
I am beginner in LabView and I am seeking help for the following:
I need to adapt a vi using a regular (analog) camera so to start using a USB camera instead. When I viewed the block diagram (which is really complicated for me) I noticed that the original programmer used the low level IMAQ VI's (e.g. IMAQ intil.vi and IMAQ configure Buffer.vi) to communicate, control and acquire images from the camera. Now, I am really confused, does these VIs work with all cameras? If not can I replace them with the IMAQ USB VIs'? How would this affect the other VIs that depends on the out come of the replaced ones? Finally, I would be glad if anyone can point out things to read so to acquire more knowledge about this subject?
I know I asked much but really I want to learn these things as fast as possible
    Best Regards
    Mohammed

    Hello TomBaum,
First, thanks for responding, really appreciate it.
Sorry that I cant send the Vi itself yet I have attached a picture of the part
that I want to modify (red rectangle).
All I want to do is using USB camera instead of the one used now! so does
these  low level VIs work with the USB camera
or I should use the USB camera VIs which will mean that i will end up with many
broken wires since low-level VIs has
different number on inputs that the USB camera VIs
Hope this can give you an idea.
P.S. in case you will wonder about the sequence structure; it is  only the
camera setting that I am interested and it is the one shown in the
    structure
All the broken wires in the picture are going into a very larg while loop with
    many other VIs.
    Regards

  • HT4106 I got the USB camera adapter but when I connect it with my ipad mini and my Samsung camera pl120 it appears on my ipad that is too much power.....I don't know what to do????

I got the USB camera adapter for the ipad mini but when I connect it with my Samsung camera pl120, it appears that's too much power on my ipad mini..,,,so I don't know what to do??????

If you have the card reader part of the camera kit and your camera uses SD cards, try doing it that way. It is the least troublesome way.
BUt if that doesn't work, then it may be a setting on your camera. Your camera may be trying to pull power from the iPad for you to download, and the iPad won't put out that much, triggering the error. If you have a power supply for your camera you can try using that. If not, maybe something in here can help you
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4101
you might also check on Samsung's site. See if they have any advice specific to iPads that can help.
