Imaqdx win7 format 7 mode 0 (AVT Pike F145B)

I am using an AVT Pike F-145B under windows7 (32bits). With Measurement and Automation Explorer 4.7.7 I can grab images if I use another video mode than format 7, mode 0 (which is the video mode I need!). If I use this video mode (format 7, mode0, 1388x1038), it is as if something was not well synchronized and the acquired frames are mixed up.
Does someone has a clue for this issue?

Are you using the latest driver available in order to be sure that it's not coming from that point. Did you try it also another computer?

Bouncing To MP3 Format: Stereo Mode = Normal or Joint Stereo?

After much research on these forums and listening test, I finally realized that having the "Normalize" box checked (in the Bounce window) resulted in a different sound from what I had mixed. It did "protect" my songs from being distorted in iTunes but I went back to the songs that were poorly mixed and reset the levels to be lower. Bottom line is that I don't want Logic to play "big brother" by messing with the volume/dynamics of my "final mix" when I bounce. Hence no more Normalize for my stuff.
That being said I noticed that when bouncing to MP3 format, Logic defaults the "Stereo Mode" (option in Bounce Window) to "Joint Stereo". I looked up "Stereo Mode" in the manual but there was no explanation as to the difference between "Normal" and "Joint Stereo".
Anyone know the difference between these two MP3 bounce modes?

Joint Stereo reduces the file size a little by encoding some parts of the spectrum in mono, mostly the low end components which are, to our perception, non-directional.
There's really no downside to this, unless you have a track that depends on some flanging effects, in which case you might hear a difference. I believe that Fraunhofer codecs are used by Apple and if this bothers you (unlikely) you could use a LAME encoder which treats either side of a stereo file separately.

U need to write it in ur printers file defined in report's
system parameters.
You can specify in the file as located in
oracle_home\report25\printers\printername.prn
Before page CONTROL(R)
After Page Control(O)
control(N) is for BOLD Printing
Control(O) is for Normal Printing
Control(R) is for Condensed Printing.

Adobe PS CS2 (win7) quick mask mode is broke

My (Windows7) PS CS2 quick mask mode is broke. When in it, tools work backwards, delete is alt-backspace, eraser tool is paintbrush. Then, when I'm ready to exit quick mask to standard mode to delete selection, selection has disappeared, no selection 'marching ants'. Help Thanks.

Are you talking about an active Selection in Quick Mask Mode?
Of course that is lost when exiting Quick Mask, the purpose of Quick Mask is to have a Selection as a Channel and that is what is loaded as a Selection when exiting.
But as I’m not suer I understand what you really mean could you please post screenshots to illustrate the issue?

W520+Win7-64, Standby Mode: MessageBox Problems ejecting...

I'm using a SSD in the internal harddisk slot and the original harddisk running in an ultrabay adapter. Windows is installed on the SSD. Each time I go into standby-mode and return, I see the message box "Problems eject XXXX, the device is currently in use...."
In the eventlog there are multiple messages saying
"The application \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Prog\xxxl.exe with process id 4796 stopped the removal or ejection for the device IDE\DiskST9500420AS_____________________________0003LVM1\4&8a9acb7&0&0.1.0."
followed by a
"Device action request for device 'IDE\DiskST9500420AS_____________________________0003LVM1\4&8a9acb7&0&0.1.0' was vetoed by 'STORAGE\Volume\{2483acec-a2e3-11e0-9cfe-fe3c617a851b}#0000000000100000' with veto type 6."
Has anybode an idea how to get rid of this messages?

I think I have a related issue. I have a SSD with my old drive in the ultrabay also
On wake up, the kb lights flash, the mechanical hd starts to spin, and then nothing. After a couple of seconds
the process repeats. It seems like something is timing out or there is some kind of power problem because the
NVIDIA GPU is being used. I don't see a message because I have to reset by pulling power and battery.
Wakeup is fine when in the Optimus mode.

Sb0730 fails in Win7 64 bit mode

The card works perfectly in XP and Win 7 32 bit modes, but not Win 7 64 bit. I've stripped the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-M56S-S3) back to just the X-Fi card and Nvidia NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT graphics and done a new Win 7 install. The sound is clicky and very distorted. Device Manager shows all is OK and I've tried all the latest drivers (that I can find) and nothing changes.
Has anyone else struck this and is there any solution ?
Creative Labs won't help as it's OEM (I bought it second hand as a 'better' card for Win 7) and I can't get any support from Microsoft.

Booting Windows 7 install DVD in uefi mode fails for satellite p870

So as the title says, I'm trying to boot the windows 7 installer in uefi mode. It gets pretty far into the boot process, but then just falls flat on it's face. Booting the DVD in safe mode, I can see that it loads all the drivers up to disk.sys, then it seems like it's trying to display the installer GUI and fails. The top quarter or so of the screen gets blanked to black, and then everything just sorta stops. DVD stops spinning, and nothing else happens. I'm kinda restricted to uefi at the moment, as the drive i want to install on has some stuff i'd rather not lose on it, and i've just carved out some empty space for windows.

Trying to help a friend who just got a Satellite L875D that needs to downgrade from factory Win8 to a purchased disk of Win7-64 to continue using his legacy software & not have to re-train himself & buy more stuff. Tried putting in the Win7 disk before starting the first time, but it didn't boot from that drive. Then the initial start-up factory screen didn't give an F-key to enter BIOS. Some forum notes say it might be F-2 or F-12; another post says he tried every F key.
Do I have to do/finish the Win8 installation, and then let Win7 format the C drive? One post talks of the Win8 method to reach the UEFI, and then you say to disable secure boot. And I am not sure if the Win8 is in a "safe" partition since there are no disks included; or if I should do the Win8 install and make a backup of it, and then do the Win7 clean install.

Premiere Pro CC does not open MOD files correctly

I just started using the Adobe Creative Cloud as a trial, in particular the Premiere Pro CC software, since it might be relevant, I am working on a mac (completely updated as of yesterday).
I have a JVC GZ-MG505 camcorder. This device saves the video files on an internal HDD in a file format called MOD. From what I have been able to see when searching on the web, this should be nothing more than a MPEG-2 file.
So, I tried importing some video files into Premiere Pro and to my surprise, I noticed that a whole strip on the right hand side of the image is missing. The original is recorded in a widescreen (16:9) format with 720x576 pixels and Premiere Pro gives me a file with 540x576 pixels. I have tried using the Interpret Footage to change this, but it doesn't let me change the number of pixels. I also tried opening the files in Adobe Media Encoder and I have exactly the same results as in Premiere Pro. However, opening the files in VLC or mPlayer they come out exactly as expected with all the pixels there. Has anyone come accross this problem before or can anyone help me with solving this?
I could try reencoding the files with VLC, but the output file is much smaller than the input file, so I am afraid I am loosing some definition.
So, just to restate my problem, the adobe products open my MOD files without complaining, but for some reason they loose a strip 180 pixels wide on the right hand side of the image.

That is correct: there is a bug in CC. In CS6 they work correctly.

Printing Character Mode Report On Oracle 9i AS - Application Server

Even though I have put this problem in Reports Forum,
I thought it fit to put forward this problem in Forms Forum
since Forms Forum is being accessed by a large number
of developers across the world.
Now the problem :
I have developed a report in Character mode that runs in
hundreds of pages. The output will be taken on High speed
Dot Matrix Printer since the client requirement is fast printing
& economical printing. That is the reason to develop this report
in Character mode & not Bitmap mode. This report works
fine in Client-Server environment.
However, the problem lies in the Web Server environment.
The same reports will be run on Oracle 9i AS. Since the
browser supports only HTML & PDF format, Character
mode reports faces a major problem.
Can anybody help me to resolve this problem ??
I would like to remind you again that the constraint is NOT
TO USE LASER PRINTERS.

Application crashes when camera mode 7 is set

Hi, I have written a small application that grabs images from the camera. The application also allows user to change the video modes and the ROI But I have a problem. Whenever I try to set mode 7 the application crashes. I am also handling the exception but it doesn;t go there. It simply crash. So can anybody help! I

Hi Farhat,
ok - I've sorted what was going on now with the crashing.
you need to set the format, the mode and the framerate when you change the setup each time.
I've put the ROI stuff back in - you might want to parse the setup to make sure that when you set the ROI it's not larger than you would normally expect (so a 320x200 max if that's the format you've chosen.

Breakpoints not caught during debugging in BEA Workshop 8.1 (Win7 Pro OS)

Hi all,
As of the moment, we're slowly making our migration from our existing WebLogic 8.1 Platform to the newer WebLogic 12c. Some people in my team are starting to use Windows 7 Professional for the WL8.1 (which includes the application server and the developer IDE, "Workshop").
Been using and debugging myself on my own Windows 7 Home Edition laptop. Haven't been encountering problems, but lately, those of us using Windows 7 Pro are not able to catch breakpoints during debugging. I tried it on a separate machine running Win 7 Pro as well with my same domain settings and all, and I confirm that the breakpoints aren't caught. How is this so? If I recall, the latest service pack for WL8.1 is SP6; are there any other patches that we need to install to resolve this?
I'm looking at the possibility of having to use Win7's "XP mode" if there are no options. But it'd be better if we can avoid that altogether... Thanks!

Can you also make sure that the 1.5 JVM value entry is the first entry in the PATH environment variable.

Rendering file formats problem (non-issue in premier)

hello all,
so i'm new to final cut and baffled at the unusual render issues i've encountered from the get go.
i recorded some video using the canon fs-10 / fs-20, a lowend digital camcorder.
the camera outputs the format to .mod which i then converted to .mpeg4.
without any editing in FC, a single clip needs to render just to view it in the canvas but plays ok in the viewer. does this make any sense?
i've even tried to convert to .mov and .avi.
when i used a different camera that automatically records in .mov, final cut plays back in the canvas just fine without rendering.
so,
1. what exactly determines when FC renders if not the file format?
2. why does it need to render at all if i'm just playing back? it plays back in the viewer but not the canvas. baffling.
would be a real shame if FC couldn't handle simple editing with these basic files.

Just grabbing software, and throwing video files at it, without taking the time to read or learn HOW this said application works, isn't wise. FCP isn't Premiere...FCP doesn't just take in any old QT file and then work with it. No. It needs to be converted to a format that FCP works with. What you see in the EASY SETUP list is what FCP works with.
If you don't bother to learn the basics of the application, then things won't go smoothly. If you just want to grab QT files and throw them into an application to start editing, then use Premiere.

If it isn't in the Easy Setup list...FCP will want to render it. If you mix two or more codecs in a sequence, then FCP will render the footage that differs from the main footage you are editing with.

Because It is viewable in the Viewer...that's just a window to the QT file. But the canvas is where things are put together. And that is where settings are determined.

Basic files that aren't in editable codecs. At least ones that FCP (and Avid) work with. If you want an app that just works with stuff you throw at it, Premiere and Vegas are for you.

How to show a column containing seconds duration in integer format as HH:MM:SS?

Folks,
I need some advice on the best way to show seconds in the HH:MM:SS format in a PowerPivot model (it will be imported as SSAS Tabular later).
I have been reading some good stuff around the Internet, but I have a couple of issues:
I know we have the time dataset in SQL but the fact is that PowerPivot and SSAS Tabular does not have time-only fields. So even if I had a field like 21:12:00, this field would become effectively 30/12/1899 (or another date), followed by the time 21:12:00.
Even if I format the field to not show the date but only the time, I can foresee issues with this. I really need only the time.
Another issue with the time dataset is that it represents a time of the day. What I really want is a duration, not the time of the day. So I would like to allow users to specify parameters concerning the duration such as less than 5 minutes, more than 30
minutes and so forth and not necessarily the time of the day. There is also the issue that a time field could only go as far as 24 hours -- but it is improbable that we will ever have such duration.
So I am torn between what I can do concerning the formating of the field and the parametrisation that users could do.
Any suggestions? Thank you all for your help!

Power View view filters will fill your need. Just put [DurationInMinutes] or [DurationInSeconds] on the page as a view filter and the users will have a slider bar of durations.
On the tables/charts, put the [DurationFormatted] on as your label.
If you need to find, for example an average call duration, you'll do something like the following:

This will start to get cumbersome. You could implement a disconnected slicer to put different measures into that formatted measure, but even still it will be hairy, and that string processing is not desirable in my mind.
I would argue that displaying these things as total minutes (with or without decimals displayed) is your best bet, especially since you claim most will be under an hour. Most people do not have a problem interpreting 30.5 minutes, for example.

Blending Modes ("vivid light") in After Effects?

I discovered that in After Effects CS6 (Win7) some blending modes seem to not work as expected.
I have a bitmap with transparencies above another bitmap and want to blend it with "vivid light" - but the result is the same as if i had no blending mode selected at all. The same is for "hard light", "linear light" or "hard mix".
Other blending modes like "multiply", "soft light" and "overlay" work just fine.
Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with my After Effects?

I'm sorry for not being as specific as requested in the faq. I thought it might be more helpful to reduce the problem description to the most relevant facts first, and see if it can be solved in a simple way.

Okay, I designed my video design in Photoshop CS6 first. This is how the design was supposed to look like - as it was composed in Photoshop.
There are two layers:
1. a pattern of semi-transparent patches on top and
2. a blue gradient background
the pattern (1) is composited with blending mode "vivid light" on the background (2).
After I exported both layers as pngs (24bit alpha) and imported them in After Effects and used the same settings as in photoshop, I got the following:
As you can see, I used "vivid light" as blending mode, but it looks exactly as if blending mode "normal" was used.
The render quality is set to final quality.
The same happens with blending modes "hard light", "linear light" or "hard mix" (i guess, you don't need screenshots, because they all look the same)
But other blending modes like "multiply", "soft light" and "overlay" work fine (in this case I used "overlay"):
So, the problem is: Why do some blending modes not work, while others work?
BTW: I also tried to import the PSD directly into After Effects with all layers retained, in case something was wrong with the pngs, that I exported - but the imported PSD produced exactly the same error. So, no difference there.
