IMatch sync playlist

I have a question about iMatch.
I have one iTunes account and six different devices, with four members that share that iTunes.
On our iTunes account we each have are own playlist that holds our songs. I bought iMatch and now that every time my wife or I turn on iMatch on our mobile devices it sync everyone's playlist to that device. My question is how do I get iMatch to work on different devices without messing up or syncing everyone's playlist?
I use one iPhone 4, iPad 2 that share the same iCloud account.
My wife has one iPhone 4, iPad 2 that share the same iCloud account.
My two kids each have an iTouch 2nd gen. (iMatch doesn't affect them)

I don't know if there is a way to to keep a playlist from matching.
The only thing I can think of is to create another library and only put the playlists in that library that you want associated with match and then let match sync from that library.
Of course you have to delete everything out of the cloud and start over and I'm pretty sure that would be a pretty long task to have to go through again.
I think I could live with seeing the playlists rather than having to do that.

  • Single playlist deleted after imatch sync

Recently added a playlist and split one playlist into 2 then updated imatch. one playlist was deleted. restored that playlist manually song by song and updated again and then one of the split playlists was gone. Is there a limit to the number of playlists? What's going on?

i don't think there is a limit to number of playlists for itunes match. I'm actually pretty certain on that, according to this link / http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4914
however, that doesn't sound good. i tried to find a fix for you, and came across this apple discussion which was solved. maybe the same solution will work for you / https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3496092

  • Is there a way to auto sync playlists while manually managing your music?

I used to use WMP11 before I bought an iPod and used iTunes, and in that I was able to auto sync playlists to my Samsung dap, as well as being able to manually drag tracks/albums to it.
Since using iTunes, I have found it is not as accessible in this regard. Of course, you can opt to manually manage your music, but if you do this, it does not auto sync any info. This means that if I drag a playlist to my iPod and alter it at a later stage by adding more tracks, it won't alter it on the iPod unless I manually replace it with the amended one. It also means that any ratings that I set on my iPod do NOT get transfered to the tracks in iTunes when connected.
What I have done is set a playlist called 'iPod Tracks' in iTunes, and have dragged any extra albums to my iPod using that, as well as the smart playlist 'Top Tracks'. But the disadvantage of this is, if I drag a few songs from an album into my 'iPod Tracks' playlist, then later decide I want the whole album and drag that over, I end up with two of the same tracks in the playlist, which makes it look very untidy (although I am aware only one of each track will be on the iPod) so it is not ideal.
Surely there must be a way to auto sync playlists so that when you amend them in iTunes it does so on the iPod too, as well as manually drag over any extra tracks/albums you want without having a messy playlist work-around like I have done.
    Any help/ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

There is no way to sync content back to itunes. As you are aware there are a couple of unsupported ways to recover your content, you will need to decide if your content is valuable enough to go down this route.
If so and you are not comfortable with the procedures, I suggest taking the unit to a data recovery specialist with mac experience.

  • Itunes 10 bug with syncing playlists

Just passing on some information here in case anyone here has encountered this.
    OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    Itunes 10.0 and 10.1
I installed itunes 10 about a month ago loaded my library and everything was fine. Since then, I've noticed songs missing from some of my playlists. At first it was just a random song here and there and just figured I must have deleted the song from the list and forgot I did that. Then I started noticing more and more songs missing from the playlists that I know should be there. I checked my itunes library to verifiy the missing songs were on the playlist, they were. When I synced my ipod, the songs were missing on my playlist on the ipod. I could still find the song on my ipod by looking under albums or artist, but they were not syncing for the playlist. Song was checked to be synced, no errors at sync. The songs all played in itunes just fine, file corruption wasn't the cause. Only thing the songs that wouldn't sync had in common was that they were all purchased from the itunes store.
I was on itunes 10.0 at the time, so I upgraded to 10.1, same issue. Tried deleting and recreating the playlist, same issue. Deleted the songs that weren't syncing and restored them from my backup, same issue. Finally I just wiped by whole itunes library and readded all my music, then recreated the playlist, same issue.
Running out of options I decided to rollback to itunes 9.2. Had to wipe my library again, and readd everything. After reloading my library into itunes 9 I recreated my playlists and synced with my ipod. All playlists synced on my ipod correctly.

For what its worth I too am experiencing the same problem after accidentally the latest version of Itunes 10.1 whilst downloading Beatles songs to my classic 30G Ipod. I found that my synced playlists are dropping songs seemingly at random. The songs, videos and podcasts all seem to have been moved over but the playlists are screwed. In some cases I've found 4 out of six songs missing from a a playlist. I've tried restoring my Ipod, consolidating songs, recreating some of the smaller playlists from scratch under the new Itunes with similar results. I tried uninstalling Itunes and reinstalling a couple of older versions of Itunes 9 in with case I find that Itunes 10 has made the song files unreadable under 9 so I've I did a clean install of 10.1 and am still experiencing songs missing from playlists. Am at my wits end on this problem and would appreciate any suggestions to fix this problem.

  • Can't sync playlists from ipod touch to new computer

Can't Sync Playlists from iPod Touch to New Library
I just upgraded from an old Pentium computer to a new Dell XPS 18 running Windows 8.1.  Downloaded latest version of iTunes to the new computer, then successfully transferred library content from the old computer to the new one via the external hard drive method.  All material -- iTunes purchases, music ripped from CDs, a movie, even MP3 files purchased long ago from another source -- transferred successfully; everything plays on the new computer just fine.
My problem is that the "old" playlists didn't transfer over.  After connecting my iPod Touch to the new computer, I verified that the iPod has the latest version of iOS, and its content (including the old/original playlists) displays in the window on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.  The really frustrating thing is that I can find no way to transfer the old playlists to my new iTunes library.  I've tried dragging and dropping, selecting and pasting, and exploration of all the options menus, but no luck.  Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out.  When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it.  I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items.  Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists?  Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple?  Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library.  I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.
    Thanks very much --

  • IPhone no longer syncs playlists in the same sort order as iTunes

iPhone 4 no longer syncs playlists in the same sort order as iTunes after iOS5 upgrade.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the feedback.  Yes, it is very frustrating.  That was one functionality that worked very well.  Not only is the sort within the playlist bad but the sorting of the playlists themselves is bad.  I used to use an undetscore "-" to sort some of my folders to the top of the play list of the most played playlists and that does not work either.  It ignores the underscore and just sorts on the alpha character.  Hope this gets fixed.

  • Can you just sync playlists across 2 macs with identical libraries

can you just sync playlists across 2 macs with identical libraries. i have done a carbon copy of my home mac itunes library to a work mac.  i'll then switch itunes match on on the home mac, and i am assumign i won't need to redownload everything to my work mac.   my question is though, is it possibnle to use itunes match to just sync playlists as really i dont want to have to upload my contetn to the cloud as its nearly all not goign to be on itunes match in the cloud (obscure stuff).  so if i keep libraries in sync myself, can i jsut use match to sync my playlists?
    cheers

No you can't. Match is an all or nothing service.
However, depending on the size of your library and your upload speeds, you may be surprised at how quickly the match/upload process takes, and by the amount of stuff that does match.
Depending on how big an issue the subscription fee is to you, it may be worth giving it a go. I use match mainly to keep my iTunes libraries in sync and it is the solution that I've been looking for for years.

  • Ipod not syncing music, "cannot sync, playlists don't exist"

I just downloaded a few CDs to my iTunes and I tried to sync it up, but it said that my playlists don't exist anymore. Yet, they were still all there when I tried to sync it. Any help would be graciously appreciated!
    Dell   Windows XP Pro

Your iPod preference must have got set to sync specific playlists rather than all and there are no playlists selected. At any rate, if you had been syncing playlists, go to that screen and reselect the playlists then resync.

  • Sync Playlist

how can i get itunes sync automatically my playlist.
What i will like to do is every time i plug my ipod 5th generation itunes takes songs strictly from my alternative playlist and places it in the alternative playlist in the nano and do the same for my other playlist.
Instead of just dumping it all under the ipod library.
    any suggestions!?

It actually automatically syncs playlists. Are you sure they're not already on your Ipod? Click "Music" on your Ipod and "Playlists" should be in there.

  • Where do I find the "Sync Playlists" option for dual Nanos?

In a recent answer to a post about more than one Ipod for one computer someone said use the Sync Playlists feature to seperate each persons music. Where is this? How do I do this exactly?
I just put all the music from my library onto my wife's new Nano which I didn't want do. Now what?
    Thanks..........

    Hello, welcome to the Discussions.
Connect one of your iPods to your computer.
In iTunes, go to "Edit -> preferences -> iPod -> Music".
Select the "Automatically update selected playlists" option for your iPod.
Name and create a playlist for this iPod that you would like to sync music to.
Choose that playlist for that iPod in iTunes Preferences.
Now, eject this iPod, and connect the other one. Set it for "Automatically update selected playlists", like the instructions above.

  • How To : Sync playlists from iOS device back to itunes - Windows

How To : How To : Sync playlists from iOS device back to itunes - Windows (May work on Mac too)
NOTE - THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF YOU HAVE THE MUSIC FILES ON THE COMPUTER ALREADY
If your like me and format your computers only to discover that you've lost all those time consuming playlists that you spent hours on, well your in luck.
Without any Third-Pary programs it's possible to save those awesome playlists, and pull them back from the blink of oblivion.
Step 1 - Connect iDevice to your computer and then open iTunes.
Step 2 - Locate your iDevice on the left side bar on iTunes under the heading 'Devices', click the arrow on the left of the devices name and select a playlist.
Step 3 - Right-Click the selected playlist and choose 'Export playlist', Save it as a Text file.
Step 4 - In iTunes, up the top click 'File' then locate Library, move across to 'Import Playlist...', Select the playlist you just created and click open.
Step 5 - Your playlist will appear on the left side bar under the heading 'Playlists', Select the playlist and attempt to play one of the songs contained.
Step 6 - You would have been prompted that iTunes doesnt see the file, select 'Locate' and then go to the location of your music and locate the file.
(Sorry dont have an image for this one due to having all my music already found)
Step 7 - Doing this once will find all the music in the playlist given that it's in a similar location of the song you found.
Congrats you have successfully moved a playlist back from oblivion

    There's a different method.
    1. On iTunes -> Devices -> <your device> -> Summary -> Check Manually manage music and videos.
    2. On iTunes -> Devices -> <your device> -> Summary -> uncheck Manually manage music and videos.
    done.
